Cardinals vs. White Sox Game Highlights (6/17/25) | MLB Highlights
Shane smith, all kind of confidence here in this rookie season. What he has done nothing short of impressive and he has been the best starter in the rotation for the White Sox this year. Toes. The slab versus Brendan Donovan. There’s a shot to left. Donovan starts the night with a base hit the other way. So there goes the no hitter don with a board with his 80th hit. Now Mason win two from shane smith in the air to right field Taylor coming in and he will make the grab for the first out here in this ball game. Here comes the D A herrera chopped toward first double clutch and a bad throw and everybody is safe soa double clutched and Then pulled his throw to the third base side of the second base bag huge break for the Cardinals two aboard one out. Now you have to capitalize on that with wilson Contreras, the former cub in the air to right field Taylor makes the adjustment gets behind it and the runner stay put for out number two. Now it’s Alec Burleson turn to hit a swing to miss strike three. So shane Smith Strands both runners here in this first inning Matthew Liberto kicks off the series on the mound for ST Louis and he’s looking to turn around his fortunes. Brad last three have been tough for the left hander. Vargas with two down. Nobody aboard gives this one a ride to left center field and it’s going to get down. Scott will cut it off but Vargas a two out double here in this first inning for the Sox and Vargas is in scoring position two out RB. I spot for Carro on the ground to the right side. Another professional at bat from Edgar drive in and the Sox take a 10 lead here this first inning RB I single for Edgar Carro one and here’s Luis Robert Junior back in the lineup, hammered to third. Arena’s got, it struggled to get a good grip and the stretch by Contreras will retire the side. The White Sox with a two out rally. Snar two second in the second. It’s one Chicago one, Chicago with no leading off. There’s a line drive. Arenado finds the barrel and the Cardinals have their second leadoff hit another at bat right there where he fouls off some tough ones. Then finally on the ninth pitch , a curveball he’s able to barrel it. This ball is hit hard. So all I turn to Lars new 30 count. Take outside and a good start. Two on nobody out. New takes a walk. Nobody out for Pedro pas down a it’s going to turn right, that’s down the right field line scores. The White Sox are throwing the ball all over the place and ST Louis breaks through to tie the game. So sacrifice E five ties the game infield in for Victor scott back foot breaking ball loads him up and man, oh man, smith has a real mess on his hands. All of his making bases loaded. Top of the order for Brendan Donovan in a tie game. Knuckle to the left side. Maroth can’t get it. One run scores, bases still loaded. ST Louis takes the lead. Donovan is two for two. He’s got his 27th RB I the long inning continues. Mason win is up. Puts that one in play slowly first. They will apply the tag smart base running by Mason win, stop and bring that man. Pa has home for the third run of the inning. Iv-n herrera. The infield is in 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Pop into right the infield in turns to go one run scores. Here comes Donovan. There will be no play. It’s a big inning for the Cardinals. They’ve scored five times, three singles, a walk, a sacrifice and a hit batsman and a very big error thrown in for good measure , still one out in the inning by Carro and he’s got him at first , Herrera got a little too far off the bag and care of the awareness. There’s out. Number two they’re probably gonna take another look at it but edgar has no problem. He’s throwing the ball throw. Is there the tag on the chest? Yes. Looks like no reason to take that look at it. Herrera thought because the ball was in the dirt. It was going to get away and Carro made a good backhand and doesn’t mind throwing it. Tapper to short Capra on the move. There is out number three, the Cardinals five runs. Second time through the order for the White Sox just two hits off the starter. Matthew Liberator. There is strike three over the inside corner and Liberto has his third punch out the perfect spot. Austin Slater. Next he was Liberts first strikeout victim hard hit off the mound and into center field. A single for austin Slater with two outs here in the third innings. Now, three for five lifetime against Liberator’s Vargas. He doubled and scored in the first on the ground. Left side. Nolan’s got that. He’ll fire across the diamond in time another ground ball out for Libby in a four run lead Herrero with a soft single past a drawn in infield drove home two runs in the five run Cardinals second Taylor back it up in right continues to drift and leaps at the what a catch Michael Taylor at the wall, brings it back. It just keeps on going and Michael goes up at the top of his leap. He keeps it in the ballpark taking a run away from ST Louis and robbing herrera of what would have been his ninth home run, good catch well timed Wilson Contreras, he’s in the batter’s box. Now, Contreras takes a one out walk and Alec Burleson is coming to bat that one rifled in the right field corner. First career hit against the White Sox puts runners at 1st and 3rd. So Burleson is on the board with the sixth cardinal hit. Arenado swung it well tonight, he’s one for two with a run score. Pitch, a ball runner trying to come home and they’re going to get Contreras. Contreras thought he got in ahead of the tag. How about that? Play on ball four? And the throw down to second. Contreras tries to steal home and the White Sox for the moment , throw him out. We’ll see if the tag got that left hand first of Contreras before he pulled the swim move or maybe even that left hip. So wilson tries to steal home on ball four at the very worst. We have two on and two out here. Very best scenario. The call is overturned and the Cardinals get their sixth run. It looks like the verdict is in and here it is after review, the call is overturned, the runner is safe. And so how about that? Wilson Contreras steals home on ball four. It’s 6 to 1 in favor of the Cardinals Sosa against Liberator Sosa lines into the corner and left their ball picked up by Narin Soa his first game back from the injured list. A stand up double here to start the bottom of the fifth inning slice away from the center fielder but it is Scott tracking it down Sousa tags. He advances to third with one out second and short are back against Vinny Capra and he lines to center. It’s deep and scott will make the catch Sosa tags and scores. It’s 6 to 2 on a sacrifice fly by Vinny Capra. Top of the order to you. Now, Brendan Donovan is three for three line drive. It is shallow right center. It’s a four hit game for Donovan who’s making up for lost time. Fifth career four hit game and he has not waited deep in the count. Brad, four hits on nine pitches that brings in Mason win. There’s a caper to left center field. Donovan flies around the second base. Bag Mason on his way to second. He’ll slide him without a throw there at 2nd and 3rd with one out good baserunning on both sides obviously going easy for do but hustle all the way out of the box for Mason. Here’s Ivonne Herrera denied a home run the last time up and herrera drives that one into left field that’s down for a base hit. He’s going to get two more RBIs on his second soft single, not how hard you hit him, but where four RB I night he’s up to 36 of them. The Cardinals lead eight to two. We go to the top of the seventh inning and it will be Alec Burleson to lead things up. He had a base hit his last time up. He’s one for three to right center field. That ball is well struck that is going to go. Alec Burleson continues his torrid work against left handed pitching. He blasts a solo home run and yeah, the Cardinals fans are flying high in Chicago and the Cardinals add on another. It’s nine to ST Louis as Burle just hit his sixth of the year. So strikeout walk, strikeout walk to start the eighth inning for leisure and here’s Bertelson with two on and two outs lane in a right to hawk that baby Lin will come around and score. Alec Burleson has a three hit night of his own man. Did he go up and nail that ball? Collarbone high two RB I game for Burleson. Nolan Gorman gets chance now ground ball to second and the throw to first is in time to retire the side. The Cardinals cash in one of their two walks. It’s all Cardinals in game 1/9 inning. We go white sox down 10 to 2 and we have a position player pitching Vinny Capra on the mound. That’s a little blooper by Pages that will find some green grass. The 12th cardinal hit Pages is one for four. Now, Victor’s five for his last 35 swing and a try that’s belted to right. Taylor can’t bring that one back. Victor got the second hits a two run homer. So the Cardinals with a 10 run lead, they all count and that one well struck and here’s Luis Robert Junior with the White Sox down to their last out check. Swing roller is short. Mason’s got that to first in time and the Cardinals have beaten the White Sox. What a game. Excellent pitching defense, timely hitting and Ali Marmol Club back on the right side of the score.

Cardinals have a good future offensively with Donovan, Herrera, Winn, Burleson and Wetherholt coming. They need to address their outfield if they hope to contend though.
White Sox are still seven games ahead of the Rockies.
White sox back to being the White sox with that defense and here I thought they were finally turning things around

I'm happy they won, but do this against the Tigers, Brewers and Blue Jays. I'm not interested in outfielders who can't hit. You got talent Cardinals, but you got some holes in your roster. Not picking names, but everyone knows who they are. ANYWAY.
lol cards white Sox can’t go anywhere
