Sharks LINKED to SHOCKING move…
the Sharks have been linked to a shocking move with a new report stating Mario Ferraro may be on his way out of the Bay Area In this video we’re going to talk about some potential trade packages that he could draw Plus is it worth trading or keeping him so you’re not going to want to miss this episode of Sharks Digest But before we dive into everything we got to see that 66% of you guys watching these videos aren’t subscribed So if you want to stay up on the latest Sharks news heading to a very busy offseason make sure down below and hit that subscribe button But with that said this is a huge report that came out today and we got to break it down as uh from the fourth period They say the Colorado Avalanche the Tampa Bay Lightning with the Winnipeg Jets and the Calgary Flames are all interested in trading for Mario Ferrer this off season which uh isn’t maybe too you know out of the realm of things that we could see uh rumors floating around San Jose this off season because there was a lot of rumors around Mariel Ferrero here uh at the trade deadline Ultimately a deal did not get done and I was happy about that If you’ve been watching this channel for a while you know how much I love Mario Ferrero and what his game brings to the table for the San Jose Sharks team not just on the ice but you know as a leader in that young locker room as well And uh if we’re just taking a look at what these teams do have to offer up for Mario Ferraro the you see here the Flames now have seven picks that they could offer up for him The Lightning as well have seven There’s a lot of assets going around with Colorado only having one pick and also Winnipeg only having two So it looks like the Flames and Lightning are more well suited to go out and get a guy like Mario Ferrar They have a lot more assets to work with here Uh which you know it definitely helps them out when they’re trying to trade for Mario Ferrar Just looking into how he played this season I mean like I said I love this guy I am a definitely a sucker for a great defensive defenseman and that is what we got with Mario Ferrer I fell in love with this guy’s game this season I think he had a great year and you know he could draw a lot of uh value especially in a trade looking here 150 hits 125 block shots This guy is a beast He is not afraid to lay the body He’s not afraid to uh take a few shots in the leg as well Louise just a absolute beast Also having 17 points this year as well Obviously you know on a struggling team he’s going to have a low plus minus But I think this guy has shown to obviously a lot of teams this season that he is it He is one of the best defensive defenders in the entire league on that left side And it seems like it’s starting to take notice now by Calgary Tampa and all these teams now being interested in him But if you’re asking me what do I think about a potential trade package for Mario Ferraro I definitely think that he draws a second round pick There’s no doubt about that in my mind It is no you know he may be pushing it for a first You know maybe if it’s a late round first that that could be uh something there But I do like a second round pick as well as a mid-tier prospect for this guy you get you know a prospect who is maybe drafted late second round maybe third round a guy who has potential to once he hits the AHL level uh be a consistent up and down guy for this Sharks team I think you make that trade I think a second round pick uh is definitely worth it I mean I like Ferraro I do not want to see him go I think he is a crucial piece to this team’s future I mean only at 26 He’ll be 27 at the end of this deal His contract is up next season Uh I I definitely think that I would stick around to him but I also wouldn’t be upset if we did see him move on here But there has been another interesting thing in this article Uh they also say here uh change of scenery could benefit Ferrar since he hasn’t seen the playoffs yet in his career But they also say a second round pick uh that trading him could net San Jose another pick and it could potentially be a package to move up in the draft or add it to to its collection of future pick And obviously uh we know how many picks the Sharks have right now They have two firstly two seconds in this year’s draft So getting another second in this year’s draft would bump them up to three second round picks So that that’s big I mean you can get a really good player for three second round picks if you wanted to trade them all away in one shot You could definitely do that But I like what they say here We’ve talked about this in the past about how Mike Greer has been tempting the idea of trading up or down in this draft and maybe getting a second round pick could make them move up in this draft and get Matthew Schaefer because obviously he’s going to be a left defense He’s going to be the top left defenseman for this team for hopefully the future if they do get the get him So trading away a left defense getting a second round pick Maybe you go to the the new New York Islanders and say “Hey we got a first in 3 seconds We want to move on up in this draft or something like that I think you’d have to throw a prospect in there as well.” But I think it definitely gets the ball rolling with this pick which is I think it’s an interesting uh point here that they made here that this could be a way that starts that process for Mike Greer and the Sharks But I really don’t think they need to trade up in this draft I mean I’m I I’m fine with settling for Michael Misa He’s a fantastic player I mean yes it sucks missing out on the defenseman but I do I do like Michael Mis and I don’t think trading away all your uh capital that you’ve acquired over these last couple years is the way to go about it But they also do mention here uh that the New York Islanders are expected to take Matthew Schaefer like I just mentioned But one thing that trading Mario Ferraro does for this team is it allows Sam Dickinson to come up and immediately play top pair minutes in the NHL which I think regardless if they do keep Ferraro And I think Sam Dickinson does still come up and play the second pairing I think you know I think not trading him away doesn’t make him not come back or not play his first licks in NHL hockey this season I think it just allows him to have more minutes and get more developments at G you know getting about 21 minutes of of ice time a night But I do think that keeping Murio Ferrero is definitely the best option for this team But like they say here it does provide that option of giving the CHL defenseman of the year the opportunity to come up and headman that offense at the left side Like I said his contract is up next year He’s a very affordable player That’s why all these teams are looking at him He’s at 3.25 this year You’re not going to get a great as great of a defenseman as Mariel Ferrer for this amount of money next season So that’s why a lot of these teams that want to make the playoffs or are going are going to be in Stanley Cup contention are going to be coming after this guy because he’s a he’s a warrior You know we know how good of a player he is He goes to battle every night He loves you know blocking those shots and getting physical and he loves picking up for his teammates I think for me you know I keep saying it I want to keep him because he’s such a great leader in this locker room I mean we see him in all these post press conferences and just how wellspoken he is and how highly he talks of all this young talent that they do have on their roster And I think this guy is a potential maybe captaincy look in the future I mean I think Mro maybe has it locked down a little bit but he’s definitely a guy who could definitely be the alternate captain on this team and be a great leader in this locker room And I think you know losing that maybe isn’t worth it enough for me but you know it could it is interesting either way But looking at keeping him and what a contract extension does look like for Mario Ferrerero obviously like we said his contract is up next season so he will be looking for an extension And uh from uh Scotia stack cards here they they do great projections on everybody who’s a free agent this year next year extensions upcoming These guys are your go-to with contract you know projections and they have uh their most likely outcome being a four or fiveyear deal around 5.2 5.5 million for Mario Ferrar And and that’s a great number I think obviously the Sharks have so much money in cap space they don’t need to move him out for cap reasons at all I think they could even upwards of give him six I mean just to stay with this team I definitely think he’s worth it I definitely think he’s a playoff guy He is a guy who is just going to uh go to battle for this team And I think losing him hurts you more uh than keeping him I think keeping him you’re getting him still at cheap You’re getting him at over five four years where in the midst of of those years you are going to be starting to compete I think maybe two years time this team will be starting to compete for a playoff spot I don’t think that’s too far out of the realm of possibilities So I like keeping Mario Ferrero I want to hear your guys’ thoughts on it down below in the comment section Are you keeping them Are you trading them Are you taking that second round pick a mid-tier prospect and moving on I want to hear your guys’ thoughts down below in the comments section Uh and I also want to hear your guys uh thoughts on who they’re going to pick in free agency If you made this far in the video put down who you think the Sharks are signing this year in the free agency I love to hear from you guys And if you enjoyed leave Would suck to lose him but he’d be a perfect 3rd pairing D for a contender if they’re willing to give us good value back for him.
Our defense sucks already! I cant see this happening.
Just checked . I’m subscribed. Get over the boards .
Im sad I think thrun or ferraro are gone to clear up the log jam
We have a ton of bottom pairing d. We need top 4 d.
I am in agreement. It makes no sense to trade Ferraro. But, to say Ferraro is one of the best defensive defensemen is such an overstatement.
Like others have said, Ferraro is a third pair defenseman on most all playoff teams.
But I like him and am curious what they will do between now and next seasons TDL.
My hope is they add, not subtract from what they have unless it is for a clear upgrade.
I could see him as an assistant captain but doubt he’ll be captain.
My best guess is Toffoli.
Not sure what is shocking about this news. He has been part of trade rumors for the last 2 years. I for one would like to keep him. He is still young and provides a ton of leadership and grit. Would love to see him here as the Sharks begin the new era of domination.
Mario has never been very Super. He leads in blocked shots because he gets caught out of position and sliding for home plate is his only chance. A lotta heart, but not the skill level to match. Six million would buy a much better d-man…
Believe it when I see it! Talk of Mario being traded has gone on for the past four seasons and nothing! I love both Macklin and Mario, but captain? Ah no!! It's time this team has a real captain! Bring in someone that fits the role in the classic sense. Big, strong, great hands, huge difference maker at the dire times in the game, commands respect from the players and opponents! This team deserves that!
should have shipped him 2 seasons ago
You are probably right about getting a second round pick in return but not much else.
Trade thi fool out please
If we can unload him for what you are thinking then ship him out. He's underperformed and is certainly not worth holding onto if we get that return.
The Sharks will pick at #2 and NYI will not be trading #1!
Mario should get some dental work.
1st round pick + a good defensive prospect. Yes please
I hope they keep him
Dickinson is gonna need to not only prove he’s ready for NHL but he has to seize someone else’s role, he can’t be just given a spot that almost never works out
10000% agree we gotta keep this guy unless return is insane
