MLB LIVE🔴 Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels – Jun 21, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
just about ready to roll here starting on the mound in this one Tyler Anderson what do you have on him well no doubt about it he’s going to have to put together some consistently good performances in order to bring that erra down now he’s got good stuff he’s just got to be able to have confidence trust it and really go after hitters not nibble trust that his stuff can have late life and miss barrels of bats and a foul ball [Music] [Applause] close one doesn’t get the call and one and one gets him to chase after that one see if he can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one two don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you could get hurt fights that one away still one and two [Music] spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another and there’s a ball was good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it hit a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout on to first one out in the top of the first well even though he strikes out he saw a lot of pitches and he battled plus it gave the guys behind him an opportunity to see more from the pitcher not the result he wanted but that’s still a good at bat and stepping in for the Astros Isach Paredes fast ball for a strike 0 and one that one missing inside swinging a miss now he’s in a one-two hole i think he was sitting off speed there fouls that off to the left and will do it again [Music] [Applause] fouls it off still one and two anderson ready to work check swing tried to hold up now an appeal to first and Eric Summersgill punches him out that’s a strikeout jose Altuve up to here third leftielder Jose Altuve and there’s a strike [Applause] two out space is empty that just misses and now it’s even one and one one ball one strike that one missed two-1ated [Music] and that’s downstairs and now three in one first pitch strike from the pitcher but then no panic at all by the hitter very patient showing good discipline now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count swing and a ball lifted in the air shallow right field and that is that we’ll go to the bottom of the first 0 0 back here at Angel Stadium and towing the slab in this one shawn Duben Singy he’s kind of a road warrior yeah I definitely say so you know some guys shrink a little bit on the road they’re so used to just you know having the comforts of being at home and having the fans behind them but this guy seems to thrive in adversity and being in some hostile environment so when you have a player like this on your team that goes out there and competes you definitely like your chances away from your home ballpark zack Neto the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one swing and a miss as he chases that one darting out of the zone the 1-1 is fouled off [Music] [Applause] [Applause] and it remains two and two and that’s downed away stays alive i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up 3-2 now outside corner got him looking i guarantee he’s going to check the tape on that last pitch when he gets a chance because he thought it was ball four and he wasn’t wrong and it was a close pitch definitely not an easy call but especially after a long at bat that’ll drive you crazy getting rung up like that so in now for the Angels nolan Shadwell that one finds the zone that’s strike one ball one there i got one ball one strike one down base is empty foul ball still a one and two count that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was strike three and that’s two in a row anytime you can punch out the top two guys in a lineup to start an inning got to be feeling pretty good out there on the mound because when you think of just having a distraction table setters on the base paths and all of a sudden you’re dealing with a number three hitter any distraction can cause you to serve up a cookie and instead of it being a solo shot it’s a two or three-run homer two down base is empty now it’s the veteran outfielder Mike Trout that missed by a lot and that is ball One that one in there to Mike Troutley first two hitters get punched out on strikes take some notes from the dugout when you get your chance go up there and hit the ball hard somewhere and it is two to one fast and he gets out of the way straighten him up a little bit two outs ball four tried another curve but couldn’t locate it one of the things about that two out walk the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so ball down the line or into the gap runner on the go that’s in for a strike throw in [Applause] that was close but Stackcast shows us why he so often seems to be on the safe side of these steel attempts Chris yeah you see that plus speed and he needed every last bit of it to swipe that bag such a threat on the bases oh he doesn’t get the call and it’s a ball and a strike yeah swing and a miss struck him out that K is his third of the game a lot of adrenaline we can see it right there and sometimes you just got to let it out that’s an outstanding job of taking that executing and getting out of a tough inning back in Anaheim top of the second and now the DH yer Diaz anderson back to work and ball one ball one no strikes [Applause] [Music] and that one missing low carl Dixon doing the umpiring behind the plate and Boo I’m not sure if it’s because he sort of sets up higher than most but one thing to be aware of with Dixon is the high strike not usually a big deal because most players are swinging at pitches up there but we may see some surprise looks from hitters from time to time because that’s just so unusual [Applause] that one fouled off two and two singing what kind of strike zone is most frustrating for hitters i’d say off the plate away and down and why those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball as the game has moved along we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires i’ve been in clubouses where they have pictures of all four guys nicknames hometowns and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit first baseman Christian Walker and now it’s Christian Walker one of the rare guys at first base that you almost think defense first he is that good with the glove you’re talking about top of the list elite defensive first baseman first baseman are involved in just about every single play so when you have somebody so solid over there uh you can breathe a little easier no score here in the second [Applause] next pitch is inside ball three the other thing about an elite defensive first baseman like him it it just instills a ton of confidence in those guys playing third and short that have to make those long tough throws at times and he just handles them so well so he really makes the entire infield better with his glove and that’s ball four and that’s how they get their first base runner of the game pretty easy walk right there last pitch wasn’t even much to think about number 11 so next up for Houston Cam Smith check swing called strike strike one you’re not just talking about the ability to pick Chris one of the things about him the range is impressive as he’s able to go to his right and get to those balls in the hole hit on the ground might be two offbalance feed there’s one to first not in time great effort there victor Carini vic Karatini at the plate definitely scuffling at the dish lately under the Mendoza line so far this month fast for a strike one of the things that Jim Leland used to say when I was broadcasting with the Marlins the longer a plate appearance goes for a batter the more likely it is that something good will happen for the hitter over to first that’s out number three one left for Houston we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score and we’re back and now the veteran catcher Travis Darno catcher Travis Darno [Applause] [Applause] right through there for a strike next offer in there for a strike and it’s 0 and two and a curve misses outside [Music] [Applause] on the ground to first walker takes it himself leadoff man retired here in the second batting six designated hitter Joe Adele here’s Joe Adele chris he’s definitely going to finish the year with a new career high in homers we just don’t know how many he’s going to hit quite yet and the first pitch misses for ball one one out base is empty liner saved at first it’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you’ve done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control and first off is fouled off swinging a ground ball towards first but foul outside low and it’s one and two one ball two strikes to count let’s go that’s foul off to the right side keeps the AB going [Music] and a ball in two strikes that’s ball two two balls two strikes swing and a miss struck him out three up three down inning over angels go quietly there we’ll move to the third with no score and welcome back to the ballpark well here we go top of the third scoreless game and now the center fielder Jake Meyers this one popped up foul ground first base side makes the catch for the owl fatty Knight second base Mauricio Dub here’s Mauricio Dubon good defender he’s been inconsistent offensively hit hard on the ground to short fires across the diamond first two batters retired here in the top of the third so the batting order turns over here’s the Astros leadoff man jeremy Pena he’s 0 for one let’s go come on right through there for a strike [Music] [Applause] and there’s a ball top of the third no score and that is downstairs and that’s ball two in there at the knees [Applause] outside and the count’s full [Applause] to third and the Astros put down in order nothing doing here this half we move on to the bottom of inning number three no score back here at Angel Stadium the batter now Kevin Newman third base Kevin newman in the eighth spot in today’s lineup he joined the team as a free agent and that’s in for a strike one well the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count he cannot afford to go deep in the counts he doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff so he’s going to have to work efficiently two balls one strike [Applause] that one finds the zone it’s two and two two two count knocks that one away and we’ll do it again next one misses and now it’s filled up three and two [Applause] and down on strikes he goes now five strikeouts for him on the M well definitely a borderline pitch right there and he didn’t look too convinced as he headed back to the dugout you know those are tough ones to let go as a hitter but with a human umpire calling balls and strikes it’s always going to be on you to protect yourself with two strikes and now the rookie second baseman Christian Moore [Music] ball one on the pitch inside one down base is empty there’s the swing and a miss i got a ball one strike and that’s downstairs and outside [Applause] pitch misses and the count is three and one [Applause] and there’s a foul ball three balls two strikes the count hands another and that’s three straight strikeouts back-to- back strikeouts to start the frame and that’s now three in a row yeah he’s really settling in and getting a feel for his pitches throwing them where he wants to right now so we’ll see how long he can keep this streak going neto in now takes ball one off the play [Music] swanging a popup pñena brings it in and the inning is over no runs no hits no errors three innings complete we’re tied nothing nothing back in Anaheim start of the fourth and stepping in for the Astros Isach Paradus fast ball for a strike well these Astros as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate they’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs can they turn that around and stay within the zone we’ll see but I think they have to bounced up the middle handles throws to first one up one down how about Jose Alu here’s the former MVP Jose Altuve flyed to right his first time [Applause] just missed fourth inning underway no score that one fouled off slapped foul fouled off and they’ll do it again [Music] the one two outside with a breaking ball oh this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat i’m sure there’s some times where a pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter and they get out two for the owl next is the designated hitter Yiner Diaz fly to center his first time yeah that’s fouled off and a foul ball missed with a change up going to count one and two two down nobody on top half of inning number four next offering misses and the count now even up [Applause] that one is upstairs fights it off he’ll see another [Music] [Applause] foul we’ll see another payoff pitch well he’s having a tough time getting a pitch by him as a hitter you feel pretty confident that you’re seeing different pitches still able to make some type of contact and a pop off right side foul territory has room and he makes the catch astros are down quietly still no score and we’re back bottom four so in now for the Angels nolan Shadow [Music] shallow swing and a ball lifted in the air shallow left field makes the grab one down now batting right fielder Mike here’s Trout blocked and stole a base his first time he is quite an athlete i mean you look around the other sports basketball football you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports too and first pitch fastball is in for a strike he’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball and that is out of play one down base is empty gets a piece and it stays 0 and two a defensive swing right there some cheese on the inside part of the plate bet the hands are still stinging after that one pitches in the dirt now one and two base is empty one away we’re here in the bottom of the fourth fights that one away still one and two the pitch fouls it off still one and two hey you got this fouls it back with two strikes good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the at bat keeps the atbat going with a foul ball also really good at bat what I like about this guy his bat stays in the zone for a long time gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches and delivers outside [Applause] got him swinging picks up strikeout number seven just absolutely rolling on the mound he’s looking very much on his game in the early parts of this one boo fully on the attack with these hitters that’s seven strikeouts already so he’s got a good pace going no doubt taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels he struck out swinging at his first atbat swing and a miss that’s strike one 0 and one that one pushed foul inside almost got him two down to nobody on and then misses off the outside edge really good take especially with two strikes it’s in and out of his glove still able to fire over this play doesn’t cost him inning over and the Angels are gone in order and we’re still knotted at zero and welcome back to the ballpark ready now for the fifth inning and stepping in for the Astros Christian Walker anderson back to work that one finds the zone that’s strike one well these Astros they’re not going to be happy with the ad bats they’ve been having so far just one base runner to this point and it’s not exactly early anymore they’ve got players in this lineup capable of sparking something but it just hasn’t happened for them yet up the middle Netosses to first one away here in the fifth now batting number 11 Cam Smith up next for the Astros 0 for one he hit into a fieldielder’s choice his first time swinging a foul straight back next offering is in for a strike the Astros yet to pick up a hit here [Applause] and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again one down base is empty swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field it’s Kangry again to make the play that’s out number two now batting catcher Victor Keratini at the plate is the Astros catcher Victor Keratini 0 for one he grounded out in his first at bat down it away for ball one [Music] [Applause] that one missed two and 0 on the corner for a strike you can do it Angels this to third the throw to first and that is that he’s through five without allowing a hit and we still have no score back here at Angel Stadium John Shabi with my buddy Chris Singleton set to get us started bottom five Travis Darno travis Darno [Music] come on Angels come on Angels go in for a strike and it’s 0 and one activity in the bullpen for the Astros for the first time hunter Brown the hardth throwing righty is up and loosening king the left-hander also throwing and that one fouled off you got this got him looking strike out number eight a little bit of a questionable call on that fast ball right there appeared to miss off the outside just a little bit according to the electronic strike zone but that’s the type of location where you kind of have to understand that it’s close enough to where you don’t want to put the fate of your bat in the hands of the umpire he did and he got burned stepping in Joe Adele that misses the zone and that’s ball one counts one and0 all tied up last half of inning number five way outside he hasn’t wanted to challenge him both of those pitches off the plate away don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here fly ball to right smith he’s got it there’s two away up next for the Angels king up to hit he’s someone that you might not describe as having elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game popped up he’s got it and that’ll do it angels held in check and we are still scoreless [Music] so digging in Jake Meyers there you see his May and June numbers so far all right Los Angeles this guy’s definitely a plus runner but what I love about him is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break it’s guys like that even though they don’t have the elite speed the fact that they’re consistent with it they make moves on the base pass [Applause] the 20 is in for a strike that’s a little bit low three balls one strike it’s a leadoff walk and that’s the go-ahead run and he’s a guy that will certainly think about stealing a bag or two not the kind of speed you want to put on base in a tie game go ahead run on base and now it’s going to be Mauricio Dubong grounded out his first time that one’s upstairs ball one maybe losing command a little bit after the walk next pitch not even close off the mark there two and0 chris with that distraction and a speedy guy at first he’s in a favorable hitter count ruer takes off strike in there save at second and that was not close and the go-ahead run is now in scoring position you know nights like this when it seems harder to score I like the call to put them in motion and try to steal the base ball’s not carrying no home runs so far so trying to manufacture some offense like this may be the way to go that one finds the zone and the count is even two and two gets a piece there we’ll do it again really great change of speeds he goes off the off speed to the fast ball and the hitter doesn’t know what’s coming next spoils that one and it remains two and two go ahead run at second and we’re in the top half of the sixth and a foul ball he stays alive [Applause] spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another [Applause] gets a piece and stays alive [Applause] foul ball another 2-2 upcoming about to see the 11th pitch of the Abat here stroke him out looking frustrating end to the bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while you want to be ready to hit the fast ball sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there and now Jeremy Pena for two in this one cut on and lifted in the air two down just pulled off of it a little bit right there that front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed if he does that he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left so two down now and here is Isach Paredus and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike action in the pen down there sam Bachmann up and throwing nerys also throwing meyers at second with two down and fouled off and that just misses really close pitch down around the knees there and you could see him asking where it missed probably doesn’t agree but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch [Applause] two balls two strikes [Applause] still two and two after the foul ball this guy’s seen two change ups in a row could be a little vulnerable for a fast ball right here knocks that one away and we’ll do it again [Applause] and that’s a little high he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with three hole hitter coming up if he’s walked eighth pitch of the at coming up so now two on and two outs well that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the wall very gritty first and second two outs now the left fielder Jose Altuve fast ball in for a strike 01 and I know you want to be patient as a hitter but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight and he got one right there but left the bat on his shoulder next offer is in for a strike not quite ready to hit first two pitches by him for a couple of strikes now back is against the wall he’s going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly [Applause] got him he’s notched four strikeouts now sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve but that’s okay as long as he’s getting results and right there thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam well we go bottom six so in now for the Angels kevin Newman gets under it and pops it up paradis puts it away for the out that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up and next for the Angels Christian Moore caught looking his first time up angeles and the pitch a little bit low ball one the Astros have some action in their pen brian Abrau getting loose out there oak also getting ready base is empty one away here in the bottom of the sixth let’s go swinging a miss and it’s one and one oh one strike [Music] and that’s in the dirt just missed nasty pitch right there three balls two strikes [Applause] in danger of losing the no hitter here foul ball and it remains a full count fights it off he’ll see another three and two the pitch is outside and ball four that’s a great at bat he saw a lot of pitches and earned a walk manager out of the dugout now and he’ll make a move to dip into the Astros bullpen shawn Dubin departs and a good job from the opener didn’t allow a hit back with the new pitcher in a minute now pitching for Hunter Brown taking over on the mound well good luck against this guy he’s been extremely tough to hit this year his numbers are excellent back to the top of the Angels lineup and next for LA Zack Neto [Applause] and that one fouled off takes off pitch in for a strike save for second with a stolen base you know what i like the aggressiveness right there it looks like it’s going to be tough to score in this one really good pitching so far so why not try to put some pressure on them and see if you can steal the bag get in the scoring position [Applause] on the ground and it’s fouled one out and a runner at second and that one is lifted in the air and that’s a fair ball and they’ll score first it’s one zip so they finally get their first hit in this one and that puts an end to the combined no hitter bid yeah and that combined no no doesn’t have the same prestige as a solo one but you have to give credit to these pitchers for coming in putting on a great performance so far but now all attention goes towards getting a W in this ball game one down runner at first now the number two hitter Nolan Showell brown checks over to first and he’s back runner on the go and a base hit right there roll into third he’s in there runners at the corners here one away now it’s the power speed combo mike Trout foul ball there two on one out that’s a ball [Applause] breaking ball misses down and away could be some action here on this next pitch couple runners on probably a challenge pitch coming [Applause] and that’s down and away get ready for some action here good RBI guy at the plate runners in scoring position and the hitters count [Applause] honest it’s a strike out that’s tough you see it well i mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone but that’s one of the hardest things but when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch if I can see it really well at eye level I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity digging in Taylor Ward that pitch gets the inside corner strike one two on two outs oh that’s outside fall off foul way high needto the runner at third shadowwell on first with two down [Applause] that one hit to right fair ball running from third comes across and it’s an RBI single it’s two zip his confidence level is so high a really nice job of coming through in a big spot i don’t know how he was able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it that pitch was inside and he had to get really deep so pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wid so two outs with runners on the corners and now Travis Darnardo and the first pitch misses for ball one corners are occupied with two down and another ball [Applause] and a foul ball makes the count two and one two outs fouls one off two to a two pretty good pitch there to take a rip at he wants to get his arms extended he likes the ball away from him a little bit just not able to square it up there’s a swing and a drive meyers on the move can’t make the catch as it falls into the gap they add on as the run scores all the way from first picks himself up a couple of ribbies got a good pitch to drive stayed short with his bat pack to the ball and caught it out front and he stayed long in his follow through that’s how you split the gap and that’s pretty much a double every time manager out of the dugout now and he’ll make a move to dip into the Astros bullpen hunter Brown done for the night and he’s responsible for the runner on second so the book isn’t closed on him yet we’ll be right back now pitching for Caleb Ort gets the ball now walks have certainly been an issue for him this season so we’ll see what kind of command he has so runner at second two down now it’s the DH for the Angels joe Adele into center and a base hit travis Darnell coming around third he will score and it’s an RBI single and the lead is up to five with that fast ball even though it’s high velocity you’ve got to live on the outer edges when it’s right on a TE right down the middle professional hitters are not going to have a problem turning it around we’re under first with two away scott Kangar the next to hit for the Angels that misses and that’s ball one or 33 years old and he found his way onto the team after being claimed off waiverss [Applause] just missed two balls no strike [Applause] and there’s the ball i got three and0 [Applause] in for a strike now three and one clearly taking all the way there in that three 0 count it was a cookie right down the middle and ball four to a board not what he wanted to do right there boo that keeps this inning alive puts a runner in the scoring position and a chance for this offense to add on to their lead so two on with two away and here is Kevin Newman blind drive base hit right field coming home the throw in but it’s offline and it’s now a six-run lead so first and second with two outs now it’s going to be Christian Moore and the first offering is not close [Applause] foul ball two aboard two outs [Music] [Applause] swing and a miss as he was out front one ball two strike good eye right there [Applause] stays alive [Applause] 2-2 now battling here as he fouls it away next offering away upstairs Zack Neto on deck for the Angels keeps the attack going with a foul ball [Music] that’s a strike out good looking sweeper there six innings in the books and there will be no no hitter it’s the Angels six and the Astros nothing welcome back we’re in the seventh we have a new pitcher on the mound Hunter Strickland compared to some days this is a pretty low leverage appearance for him so he should be fairly free and easy out there still have to keep yourself sharp and attack the strike zone at the Diaz Diaz [Applause] that one’s in there it’s over no need to offer that pitch until you get to two strikes it’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch one he swings and fouls one off [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] next offering is in the dirt [Applause] fouled off and they’ll do it again [Applause] up and in now two and two [Applause] and that one missing low [Applause] [Music] in danger of losing the combined no hitter puts it in the air out towards left center ward makes the catch and there’s one goal up next for the Astros first baseman Christian Walker up next for the Astros he’s 0 for one [Applause] and that one upstairs ball one i can’t play around with him here it’s a six-run lead at this point got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot and that’s off the inside edge now two and 0 yeah there’s the strike the Stros still looking for their first hit in this one [Applause] [Music] swings through it and that’s a strike out really nice execution of the cut fast basketball right there similar to how you might throw a two strike slider start at middle away let it break and take over that outside corner of the plate but sometimes with a cutter you just don’t know how much it’ll move i think he’s good and I think he was also a little lucky right there still no hits on the board one out away from taking the no into the eight check swing and he held up gosh Boo I think he’s trying to de the pitcher there’s no way he’s thinking he can hit that pitch two down doan comes up empty that’s strike two ground ball right side and foul ball [Applause] next pitch off the play and it’s two and two two down nobody on here in the top half of inning number seven [Applause] the two- two on the way and they’ll do it again [Applause] to the right side and it goes just Foul [Applause] hard hit right side tosses to first and that is the inning nothing doing there for Houston they still find themselves down six zip this one isn’t exactly close Chris let’s go off script for a moment i’m game are we on script never saying you one of the biggest ways the game has changed bullpen arms so many elite level bullpen arms yeah and I’m glad I’m not playing anymore i mean it’s just a nightmare when that door swings open out of the bullpin you know what’s coming in is 95 and above with at least one nasty pitch that’s outside and that’s ball two the other component is you get less viewings of a specific pitcher so your ability to go to school on one guy you maybe get two looks at him and then he’s gone yeah and I mean these guys utilize the iPads and try to see previous footage of that picture but it’s just not the same as having an actual look got it and the leadoff hitter set down to open the seventh now batting so up next Nolan Shaw shadow pitch is in for a strike 0 and one 0 and one ball that’s out and that one is inside the Halo’s up big in this one here the bottom of the seventh next offering is fouled back one down base is empty oh he doesn’t get the call and now it’s three and two caught a break right there pretty good pitch on the outside corner swaying and a miss struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one man I really like the ability to bounce back right there after not getting the call he probably should have gotten he didn’t let it affect his focus and he came back with another good pitch to get him swinging that’s to third and that’s just foul two outs ball one there [Applause] and now two and one after that missed inside that’s a ball tried to sweep her [Applause] yeah there’s Paul for Boo if I were him I’d be nibbling around the plate as well i mean this guy is just capable of hitting pitches outside of his own zone and driving them a long way so a man at first so now the Angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward looking good and that one fouled off and there’s a foul ball let’s go come on the O2 swings and miss has struck him out angels strand one they lead it though six zip now pitching welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eight conor Brock did and you know Bourbon guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game so we’ll see how sharp he is your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well and this lineup is still hitless as we begin the eight and that’s in for a strike and ball one [Applause] swings through that one for strike two fouls it back with two strikes foul ball still a one and two count [Applause] on the ground right side and foul ball and a one too nope outside [Applause] upstairs swang and a ball lined out towards center in there base hit and the bid for history is gone so a man aboard and next to hit for Houston Jake Meyers pitch misses inside ball one if you’re going to get something going this is the time to do it you get the leadoff man on everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much the one just missed doublebarreled action in the bullpen brock Burke getting ready to go coach Chanowitz the right-hander also getting loose [Music] [Applause] off the plate inside three balls no strikes runner at first with no outs here fast ball for a strike angel [Applause] on the ground to third the throw to second and it’s a double play they made that double play look so easy but it was far from routine that’s the one thing about big leagers they make tough plays look simple mauricio Dubong will hit next [Applause] and first offering is fouled off [Music] [Applause] two down on line drive base hit now batting shortstop Jeremy Pñena here’s the shortstop at the plate jeremy Pñena 0 for three in this one swing and that ball smashed on a line lunging but can’t bring it in the throw to third and the throw’s offline safe at third didn’t take long to get a result for that at bat showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn’t get jumpy didn’t try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit the batter now Isach Paredus [Applause] let’s go missed with a change up and a count even one and one let’s go next offering is outside when the skipper calls down to the bullpen he’s expecting a guy to come in and get outs so far not getting what he was hoping for next offering is fouled back dubong at third pñena on at second with two down that one missing inside and a foul ball he stays alive two on two outs in the air left field ward settles underneath it he makes the grab and that’s the third out seven and a half innings in the books and we can stop ringing the no hitter alarm it’s the Angels six and the Astros nothing now pitching for back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Brian King and we all know about his slider it’s just filthy man and one of the better ones in the game I’d say spin rate’s very high and it just breaks a ton and now it’s Travis Darno at the plate with this kind of lead he can swing freely try to hit the ball out of the park do what he loves to do and a pitch clips the corner 0 and one just off the inside edge so a foul ball makes it one and two and that one missing inside a sharp slider swinging a miss struck him out couldn’t hit the fast ball at the knees he’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field he was out in front there just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track good pitch for the strike out adele now in the box comes up empty with a swing there king is what you’re looking for in a good reliever the ball stays in the ballpark it’s so hard to square him up hit hard base hit yeah he stays out of the middle and and pitches either at the bottom at the top on the edges and because of that if you do get it in the air it’s usually just a highf fly ball and when it’s down in the zone it’s on the ground and here is Scott Kangar this one popped up foul ground first base side walker makes the play and there’s two down he’s so consistent that the manager basically could look at it like he’s got three outs sitting in his pocket that shortens the game so in now for the Angels Kevin Newman when he takes the mound you feel like hey this inning is wrapped or this ball game is over he’s just that good and you can see it in opposing hitters as well that clips the corner they know when he comes in pretty much forget about it kind of reminds me of Mariano Rivera two outs oh that’s just out check swing called stride [Music] swing and a miss struck him out that’s the third out inning over angels leave one but they’re on top by a count of six to nothing now pitching we’re back it’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the machanowitz and as relievers go he’s not a big strikeout guy he tries to force weak contact so command and execution are huge for him and stepping in for the Astros Jose Altuve 0 for three a fly out a ground out and a strike out that one finds the zone that’s strike one coach Chanowitz goes 6′ 7 in he features a sinker a curb a fourseamer and he works in a change up and that’s a base hit and a good start to the inning now batting so now it’s the fourhole hitter Yiner Diaz there’s the strike [Applause] altuve gets his lead at first nobody out [Applause] and a foul ball great swing and solid contact just a little too quick he’s got to stay back a little longer squirts away a little bit activity in the bullpen for the Angels brock Burke a left-handed reliever appears to be getting loose [Applause] right back to the mound could be an easy two feed the second that’s one and two what a play oh man what a smooth double play that was a thing of beauty from start to finish so they’re down to their final out and now the first baseman Christian Walker [Applause] not close with that one ball one there’s the strike of the knees one and one [Applause] hit to the left side and this is going to do it throw the first in time and this one is over and the Angels take this one in a blowout well at this point of the year first day of the summer teams are really starting to figure out who they are no more excuses about cold weather or any inclement conditions now I think we’ll start to see what this team is really made of as we move forward 6 nothing is how this one ends for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show thanks for stopping by i’m John Shami talk to you soon that’s
