  1. The team is 2 GB in the wild card and may likely continue to chase that into September. There’s no need to sell at this point.

Edit: I think I need to point out to fans that this is how the front office is thinking. My personal opinion is this team is not a playoff team. This team sucks.

  2. Chasing a one year WC berth would be awesome, but I’d still love to see them try to sell a few pieces and build up for the future.

There is a young core to build around, and flipping some vets like Kenley, Kikuchi (unlikely but still), and maybe even Ward. It would sting to see guys go, but the smart move is to sell some IMO.

  3. Trade from some promising young talent at pitching would be all we’re missing in my opinion.

  4. I think dont sell, leave the team as it is. If they make the playoffs good if not, tood bad, then try to make some decent signings this off season and make the team competitive next year.

  5. This is what should come from the front office. If they are there, you know Arte won’t let them sell. If they are out and if everyone beloved they are instructed not to sell. The price goes up for the players we have.

This is my hope. Not sure if it becomes reality.

  6. Selling should be a priority, BUT our trade assets aren’t that valuable at this time. Ward, Rengifo, Anderson, Jansen, and D’Arnaud don’t exactly have great trade value at the moment. Best we could get in return would be players similar to the return in the Luis Garcia trade. There’s no way we’re getting the top prospects of any organization with this group.

Realistically, the best candidates we have available for trades would be Rengifo, Ward, and Tyler Anderson. Rengifo is a mediocre player, but he can play multiple infield positions and switch hit. Ward is a streaky player with bad defense, but he can bring in runs. Anderson is a pitcher that is very volatile and susceptible to getting shelled, but he’s an All-Star player and veteran that can provide some good starts.

We should trade if we’re getting prospects of value. We shouldn’t trade for the sake of trading.

  7. I would prefer to sell, but the one thing I don’t want to see is them buying.

  8. We are right there, just win series. Big series coming up against the rangers is going to be big.

  9. We do this every year😂. This is why some mediocre to bad teams never improve despite having pieces. Look at the Chicago bulls. You either have to fully commit or hope that every one takes a huge step forward. What’s more likely to happen and has been happening is we get stuck in the purgatory

  10. At some point we gotta start making winning moves and not let’s just get young for the future. Or future core is already here and we are 2 out with them. Let’s add to that and get into the playoffs so these guys can get some experience

  11. Sell off any vets we can

Replace them with young dudes to see what they got

How much value is Tyler Anderson really bringing to the team?… Really?

Kenley got value? Great, see ya.

None of our vets on a short contract are making or breaking our year.

  12. The addition of the second wildcard was the worst league wide change for the Angels. Always giving Arte enough hope to hang his hat on to justify that he’s doing good, but masking the deep rooted issues. We should have been sellers the last five years.

  13. Anderson has an ERA >7.00 in his last 7 starts. I think he’s closer to DFA territory than “nice trade chip” right now.

Jansen should get a nice return, although some of his underlying metrics may scare teams off. If they can get a similar return as they did for Estévez, then they should pull the trigger, regardless of their record.

Rengifo is a utility infielder on a contender and that’s not going to net a big return.

Ward is under contract for another season. Moncada’s trade value is fully dependent on his health. I doubt Hendricks or any of the other relievers have significant trade value.

All-in-all, there isn’t a whole lot for them to sell. The biggest question mark may be whether or not to sell high on Adell.

  14. If we are within 5 games of a wild card spot by the trade deadline, we should make a small adjustment. Unless we can get some top prospects for some of the mentioned players.

  15. Sounds like Bob Nightengale is saying there’s at least a 50/50 chance they’ll be selling by the trade deadline. lol

  16. We’re gonna “chase a playoff spot” by doing fuck all at the deadline and then collapse two weeks later and finish 74-82

  17. Sell hard. All the teams in contention are likely better than this Angels team…for now

  18. It’s a bad idea to sacrifice potential long term success for the small chance you could get a 1 time WC spot. This is exactly what they did in 2023. How’d that work out for them?  Stop thinking short term, load up on young talent every chance you get. That said this could just be lip service because they don’t want the fans to think they’re giving up. It would kill attendance.

  19. It’s one thing to say, “We’ll wait and see”.

But guys, Kenley and Anderson are on expiring contracts and aren’t getting younger.

  20. Lol. The Angels are in a time loop. They’ll be “close” up until the trade deadline. Then they’ll catastrophically collapse and be out of it by end of August.

    Every. Single. Year.

  21. If we sell our key pieces, Ward, Anderson, Jansen, maybe Rengifo, I think there is still a relatively slim chance we could be competing with some young core.

  22. Exactly why I will not root for this team untill the clown Arte sells. Give us our team back Arte

  23. This just lets teams know that in order for us to sell you better make us an offer we can’t refuse.
