Round 2, Game 2 | Bruce Cassidy Postgame: We Got To Improve On Today
yeah hey Bruce on the play where Braden got injured what did you see and how deflating is it to lose not only one of your emotional leaders but also one of your your team leaders well it sucks to lose a player like that he’s a big part of our team so we’ll see where that goes i don’t know what his status will be um listen Gourd’s looking at it he blew it he missed the call i don’t know what else to say i mean it’s a can opener trip it’s a dangerous play it’s all those things but it didn’t get called so you got to keep playing um and uh you know Nabber is one of our guys that we probably one of the most popular teammates in the room so that is a tough part of playing through it it’s not as easy as it looks we’re human right but at the end of the day that’s the task in front of you when those calls happen or don’t happen and uh they made a play and capitalized on it so um yeah it hurt it stings to lose that way um next question early in overtime it looked like you guys were carrying play you had some opportunities to to maybe score that that go-ahead goal or winning goal and then you take the five-minute major but you kill the major but just how much did that take out of your team having to kill that fiveminute major well you know those the players are out there and a lot it’s a lot of guys that rely on offensively too and you try not to shorten the bench but Nick W’s a guy that’s a regular on our kill so he he’s out obviously um and uh you lean on the other guys but they’re guys to drive our offense but I think they’d be okay i think the the um adrenaline will carry them through jack’s in great shape carly we use a lot uh Smitty and and Howie did a lot of the killing with Stony but it’s mostly Jack and Carly and they’re well conditioned athletes and they’re they kept pushing I thought um so it does take a little bit out of your ability then to but you listen if you don’t kill it you’re done so there’s there’s no worrying about what’s happening after it’s killed it’s kind of like okay let’s get our footing after that and um you know we did and unfortunately what you alluded to earlier kind of kind of derailed that part but at the end of the day uh you do build momentum from that kill and um great to see the guys dig in ryan yes i mean there’s the last 15 seconds but how do you sort of assess a game like this where there’s a lot of things you saw whether it be the urgency the way they’re able to come back from giving up goals like how do you sort of look at a night like this when it’s all said and done well we lost so that part’s no good so we’re down two nothing um and often times the playoffs doesn’t matter if you lose you know in overtime or 10 nothing whatever you’re on to the next game so there’s some of that but as I said this one will sting but the positive tomorrow will be good right we I I felt we outplayed the Oilers for the large most part of the game and um deserved a better fate so how will the guys look at that you know if they take it as hey we just got to carry that over we’ve always said we want to get better as the series goes on well we’re certainly better in game one so we got to improve on today if we expect to get back into it it’s that simple so that’s a veteran group um there’s times you look back on series too if it goes your way when you go that was a turning point there we battled through that and off we went so that’s a little bit of what’s in front of us uh we’ll look our wounds tonight i’m sure they’ll lick a few of theirs and then we’ll get back at it in aton go Mark Paul Jesse yeah Bruce I don’t think your team can do a better job on 97 and 29 than you did all night uh no points not a lot of action and then they get you at the very end uh is there anything you trying Are you trying to rub it in no no I’m not trying to rub it in i’m kidding can you play him better than you played him tonight is my question listen it’s 4-4 i’m thinking their top guys aren’t on the score sheet um we need this one to go our way because of some of those things you just said but didn’t so they made the play at the end and uh um they don’t need much right so credit to their depth they found ways to score um saw that you I mean what I saw the LA series I think Edmonton did a good job of that too so their depth is contributing that’s how you have runs so um yeah I like the way if we can kind of replicate that um game plan against them it’ be a little tougher up there they might have different matchup opportunities but um tonight we did a good job on them so that’s another part of being positive going back to the previous question that you know that’s those guys you got to make it hard on them try to make them earn every inch of ice and and um we did that tonight they got us at the end take the last two Paul and Jesse paul Los Santos NHL.com kind of lost in a shuffle as Victor Olivesson’s performance today just what did you see from him for tonight and particularly on the power play well he shot the puck when it came over to the elbow right like that’s that’s what he does well and I thought that was a power play in the second period he turned down shots it’s like Victor you’re there you know him and Pav both have good releases good shots or left sticks they’re one-timers so shoot it puck shows up be selfish in those situations so I’m glad he shot the second one uh first one was a good play that’s you know certainly one of the ones we work on jack’s seen pass was a little more um little more patience see if something open up um you know anytime you get the goalie moving east west it’s tough to make the save andor control the rebound so those are good looks so good for Oie i thought he played very well made a nice play off the wall on another goal so uh I think that was Carly’s so good on him um played well bruce Jesse Granger at the athletic you have to win four of the next five how important is it for Aiden to be a differencemaker for you guys well that’s part of it right that’s you know there’s positions and areas of the game you got to outplay them and that’s one that you know he’s going to have to do that at some point it’s just the makeup of any series usually um

Mandatory skate
Lets Go Oilers!
I wonder if that no call is for the blatant cross check to the nose
Hope buddy is ok but there were missed calls both ways thats hockey
Bet he loves the iron, without mentioning it.
We lost our hunger after winning the cup. We are always behind the hungrier team. Edmonton just wants to beat us and we are playing like we can turn it on whenever we want. We also need people who can shoot the puck. I've seen so many misses.
Knights WILL STILL WIN SERIES💯..goooood byyyyeeeee oilstains see ya nexr yr🤣🤣
Bruce chill. You guys got way more calls the series.
There was so many chances so many goal posts hit in overtime. Vegas is just lucky they didn't lose sooner
I’m a huge Oilers fan and wish nothing more than their continued run to the goal, but I cannot deny this was the most consequential missed penalty call of the entire playoffs thus far. Arvidsson meant no malice whatsoever, unlike what happened in the earlier penalty! It was a quick play and entanglement; but it was 100 percent a minor penalty at the least, very likely a major. Oilers got a lucky break there for sure.
🙏
Pretty sure it was missed because of how hard it was to see it in real time
If the roles were reversed the oilers media would’ve lost their minds at a missed call
