Abbotsford Canucks Head Coach Manny Malhotra On Game 3 Success | AHL Calder Cup Finals
all right Uh Manny can we get start with just the power play Your thoughts on the performance from the group tonight Felt like it was clicking for you tonight Yeah Um give them a lot of credit for responding the right way Um weren’t overly happy with the the performance last game They obviously hit come at us with a ton of pressure but um did a good job of of executing when when the opportunities were there and obviously um timely goals for us put us in a good spot What did you say about Lionus the way he’s played throughout these playoffs here scores his 12th I think it changed to the 11th for him but just him throughout these playoffs with these big goals for this group I think the thing that stands out for me with Carly is is his consistency And we’ve talked about a lot of all players have their ups and downs and with him there’s no real peaks or valleys He he has his his good and his bad days but uh um his his ability to stay really consistent and focus on on his game is is what’s led him to this success this year And I know you talked about it a lot but what this building means was it a little different tonight Was it another level as you guys continue to go on here I uh I can’t say enough about our crowd Um they continue to amaze us Um can’t talk about enough about how much energy the guys feed off of from this building It’s it’s electrifying It’s a great atmosphere for hockey and and we’re we’re privileged to play in front of fans like this Your team was outshot by 53 after game two What was different about your team defense tonight that was able to help minimize the shots I think it was more about our overall game in terms of our ability to apply pressure Um we started far better Uh spent a lot more time in their zone which obviously means we’re we’re spending less time in our zone Um but just just the overall effort of our group tonight was was far better than than we saw in the first two games RJ loves he’s used to stopping pucks not getting primary assists like he does He’s really doing it all right now for you guys isn’t he He’s feeling good He’s feeling good And um the thing that I continue to say about Arty is it’s it’s nice to see him being rewarded for doing it the right way He is a consmate professional He this guy grinds every day when he comes to the rink and he works and he puts the work in Um so there there’s no there’s no real surprise to me that he’s he’s having the success that he is What do you think of Sammy Blaz’s game today And like do you think he played disciplined enough for you Like where’s that line with him for you Sammy did a great job tonight Um he played his normal game He was physical He he created offense for us Um held on to pucks Um so a typical Sammy Blade playoff style hockey game Uh obviously the tempers tempers will continue to escalate as these games go on The animosity grows uh as you’d expect in playoff hockey But uh he did a great job for us tonight

It's a Manny smackdown
This man should be the next head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. Hiring Foote was a shortsighted move to appease Quinn Hughes that will backfire. The Canucks are at risk of losing Foote, Hughes, and Manny when it's all said and done.
I feel we could completely overpower and outscore the Checkers if we could put way more pucks on the net. We were outshot the first two games but weren't OUTPLAYED and held in there and lost by one goal. If Manny isn't poached by another team then give him one or two more years in the minors before hiring him as assistant coach for the big Canucks.
