MLB LIVE🔴 New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves – Jun 24, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

just about set to go now today’s starting pitcher griffin canning what’s a scouting report on him well he’s been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it’s the release point maybe it’s the motion but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side [Applause] base knock right field around first heading for two and he’s got a leadoff double love how he let that ball travel trusted his hands nice job of going the other way so the go-ahehead run in scoring position and now it’s matt olsen’s turn to hit swings through that one for strike one no one strike next offering is fouled back pretty good pitch there to take a rip at he wants to get his arms extended he likes the ball away from him a little bit just not able to square it up swing and a miss struck him out not what you’re looking for after the leadoff double a strike out and there’s one away here comes austin o’reilly edge of the zone for a strike 0 and one riley used to be a pitcher back in the day boo in fact fans used to give him a hard time in his rookie ball days because he started the season with a long slump he’d get messages questioning if he should go back to pitching but turns out he made the right choice ah ground ball and that’s through the infield grounds third headed for the plate now a long throw home safe at the plate and the run scores all the way from second and it’s one nothing always feels good when you come through and get your team on the board first just a simple ground ball the other way that had eyes on it man sometimes that’s all you need to do just let the ball travel put the ball in play and just hope it finds a hole here comes ozuna up to the plate and that one hammered nmo going back on it and it is gone he’ll touch them all his 12th of the season and they throw a pair on the board it’s 3 nothing one pitch one swing one home run yeah you can say that’s efficiency right there didn’t need much time in the box to make an impact when you’re working with this kind of velocity so critical that you move the ball around work quickly and make sure that you keep that hitter off balance clearly not fooled by the location or the velocity he was all over that fast ball drake baldwin next up for the braves not getting the results he’s wanted at the plate recently barely hitting over the mendoza line this month canning measures 6’2 in he features a fourseam fast ball a change up a slider a slur and he works in a two seamer that one missed [Applause] cracks his bat and pops him off barehand grab the throw throw off line he’s safe and a nice job there to keep it from getting away not every base hit is a liner into the gap just like not every strikeout’s a perfect slider down and away i mean right there he just put the ball in play on the ground and gave it his all to get down to first for the knock so a man at first azie alb’s up to the plate top of the zone for a called strike [Music] kicks and deals not even close there one and one man at first one away [Applause] swaying in a ball popped in the air and it falls they get it in quickly so first and second now one out a late jump and i think that was the difference on the playbook it’s not always easy seeing the ball off the bat something to improve here’s alex verdugo yeah that’s fouled off [Applause] tapped at the plate but it’s a foul ball baldwin at second alb’s at first one gone foul ball still 0 and two verdugo checks a swing appeal to third and he went around according to daryl parker here’s the center fielder michael harris the second i’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound this guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year [Applause] and a foul ball two aboard two outs [Applause] next one misses it’s a ball in two strikes they’ve got him working a little harder in this first frame than he anticipated [Applause] well they’re really running up the pitch count in this first inning lots of confidence from this team that is perhaps the hottest in baseball right now hits and misses it’s a strike out braves pick up two on the long ball it’s now 3 nothing it’s major league baseball and it’s on the show back here with my pal singi now the starting pitcher in this one dylan dodd chris how about a scouting report well he’s been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year it seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one here’s the veteran shortstop francisco lindor and there’s a rocket into the outfield around first and hustling for second the throw in and he’s out got to love the hustle and the attitude there to try to stretch that single into a double but unfortunately thrown out at second base he was so close to being in scoring position here’s brandon nmo pulls that one foul next offering is fouled back [Music] next one just misses one and two to count that’s a good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout fights that one away still one and two that’s a little bit low two and two highf fly ball pretty well struck out towards right center that one back over the bullpen and gone see you later and they closed the gap it’s 3-1 he absolutely crushed that one no doubt about that one bo we knew it wasn’t coming back [Applause] knew what pitch he wanted to hit spit on some other pitches in this at was very patient and it paid off [Applause] watch sodto now that one finds the zone it’s 0 and one part of the order coming through now and with one home run already in this inning they’re definitely looking to do some more damage [Applause] that one ripped that’s down one hops off the wall and that’s a double everything came together for him pretty much just a textbook double into the gap and when you can drop one in there between the outfielders you know you’re making the turn at first just an excellent swing one out runner at second and now it’s the polar bear pete alonzo and that’s off the outside edge and it’s one and0 one and0 that’s through there for a strike well we call that keyhole even though it’s right there and looks pretty good if he doesn’t love it he’s not going to swing that early in the count hard grounder into the outfield for a knock coming around third is sodo the throw in comes through with the rbi i really like that swing man he didn’t just push it the other way through the infield he drove it that way and it kind of makes me think he was thinking opposite field as he stepped into the box got a pitch he liked and he got it done runner on at first with one gone and next for the mets jeff mcneel and there’s a foul ball still only one out here in the inning [Applause] left field verdugo gets under it pulls it down and there’s two gone batty six right fielder jerry here’s the lineup now a guy who’s been huge for them over the last month plus brett batty well boo there aren’t many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does i mean batting over 400 with runners in scoring position are you kidding me i i know it’s not guaranteed or an automatic but i hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not that one down the line he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it they put two on the board four hits no errors and one left we go on to inning number two it’s the braves three and the mets two and we’re back the batter will be the shortstop nick allen nick allen cannon back to work the shortstop takes the ball singi wasn’t very sharp in the first just got hit around a little bit just wasn’t able to locate particularly well a lot of stuff for the fat part of the plate yeah boo he wasn’t fooling anyone it’s a tough place to be cuz it’s not always obvious what adjustments need to be made sometimes it’s location sometimes it’s being too predictable sometimes you’re tipping your pitches he’s going to need to figure it out quickly though fouled off he was late this one lifted in the air left field nmo has it sized up makes the grab one down now batting right fielder ronald akuna here’s akuna now led off the game with a double in his first at bat later scored check swing and he went that’s strike one that one fouled off one out base is empty oh one ball two strike hacks and misses it’s a strikeout up next for atlanta his first at bat was a strike out pitch misses there and that is ball one no strike two out space is empty fast ball for a strike in the air out towards left center nmo brings it in for the third out [Applause] bottom of the second here’s the catcher francisco alvarez francisco alvarez come on on the corner for a strike swing and a miss and that’s strike two matthew ross behind the plate pitchers umpire yeah pitchers that work side to side effectively love being on the mound with ross calling balls and strikes but if you can command your stuff on the outer edges of the strike zone he will reward you missing inside and the count is one and two close pitch there and he’s kind of wondering where it missed you know getting a feel for each umpire strike zone is something that pitchers and hitters really have to think about and work on from game to game and sometimes from at bat to at bat just missing there and the count is even two and two swing and a miss struck him out and there’s one away that was a really nice pitch call for that putaway slider right there you look at the sequence in that at bat and he hadn’t thrown it yet so just makes it really tough to recognize and fight off with two strikes i’m sure it looked like a fast ball all the way until it wasn’t here’s the third baseman brett batty inside ball one that one the other way makes the grab two down that swing right there tells me he’s seeing the ball pretty well i know it didn’t produce a hit but he made solid contact and that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate ronnie mauricio now out towards right center field akuna sizing this one up and puts the squeeze on that one and that is the third out of the inning so no runs no hits no errors and no one left we head on now to the top of the third it’s the braves three and the mets two and welcome back to the ballpark here is austin riley austin riley riley is one of those players that made his presence known in the majors right away he hit a 438 foot home run off of michael walk fast in his second at bat which is probably the best way to make a first impression as a rookie boo it’s been a rough start on the mound for this guy this third inning so important for him to get on track turn the page settle in do all those things you need to do to give your team a little bit of length in this one out to short throws to first and a quick out number one now batting the designated hitter marcel ozuna here’s marcel ozuna he’s already homerred here in this one and ball one and that’s in there for a strike and now it’s even he swings and fouls one off here’s the pitch to ozuna that missed by a lot ball two swings through that and it’s a strike out he picks up his fifth strike out on the hill really love the pitch sequence right there i’m telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now drake baldwin now at the plate reached on an infield single his first time delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 one strike and a foul ball he stays alive just misses the mark outside the zone excellent arm action on that two strike change up just missed man he wanted that call and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again two down doon goes down looking braves go down quickly here but they still lead at 3-2 [Applause] back here at city field here’s francisco lindor short stop francisco lindor first off bringing it just misses one and0 foul ball there right through there for a strike and now two and two stays alive the 2-2 keeps the atbat going with a foul ball well he missed a hitable off speed pitch right there not sure exactly with the timing sometimes you get a backup breaking ball you’re expected oh gets dirty and they get the out man a lot going on on that play diving stop to his right in that hole and then gets up and takes it himself man it’s a one-man show here’s the left fielder brandon nmo he’s already homerred in this game and that is in for a strike and it’s 0 and one swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field so a man aboard now with one away now that really nice job staying up the middle with his approach he didn’t try to do too much with the pitch just shot it through the infield here’s juan stoodto doubled his first time up runn [Applause] next pitch misses and now it’s even one and one [Applause] and that drops in for a strike fouled off and they’ll do it again [Music] gets a piece there we’ll do it again swing and a miss and he’s down on strikes and there’s two down and he’ll be beating himself up all the way back to the dugout got a pitch to hit and just couldn’t get to it i think that slider really caught way more of the plate than it was supposed to [Applause] alonso stands in here takes ball one low tying run is at first here in the last half of the third sharp grounder that’s through for a base hit verdugo quickly throws it in lead runner to second with two gone that’s backto-back singles for him pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one he pulled it hard into the outfield and even when you keep it on the ground it feels great when you hit a missile like that first and second two outs jeff mcneel up now for the mets swaying and a miss there’s the slider one straight [Applause] highf fly ball on that one curling foul down the right side [Applause] breaking ball misses down and away [Applause] and there’s a ball the only adjustment he needs to make is his target if you aim at the outside corner that slider’s going to end up way off the plate perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it line and that’s a base hit coming home here comes the throw he’s safe it’s 33 big rbi for him right there pitch was on the outside didn’t go the other way with it but still a nice job of using the big part of the field to find a hole no way he hits it that well if he hooks around the baseball though so up next for new york jared young 0 for one he grounded out in his first at bat that clips a corner ball game is still tied they can get out of this inning with a tie game [Applause] [Applause] and that is out of play [Applause] fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2 two outs to third riley they get the force that ends the inning and they limit the damage but they pick up one run on the rbi single we’re tied now at three apiece back here in queens john chambi with chris singleton and set to lead off the fourth azie albies let’s go all right ball one there albbe’s 28 years old and he’s a native of kurissau swung on belted way back there into the big apple seats and gone wow his seventh home run of the season just like that they move in front it’s 43 he absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer and you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat he’s that confident a breaking ball on the inside part of the plate requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics if you fly open with the press shoulder there’s no way you keep that ball fair an outstanding job mechanically he deserves that home run now in for the braves alex verdugo and that’s in there for strike one [Applause] [Applause] and that one upstairs ball one one and misses inside [Applause] first pitch strike from the pitcher but then no panic at all by the hitter very patient showing good discipline now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count fast ball on the inside corner for the strike nobody on nobody out with a run in top half of inning number four three and two the pitch is outside and ball four well a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now just couldn’t find the strike zone [Applause] paris the next to hit takes outside one and0 [Applause] and a ball lifted in the air nmo has it sized up one down so digging in nick allen fly to left his first time [Applause] the change up missing ball one verdugo the runner at first with one gone in the inning here’s the pitch run around to go swing and a miss safe at second and that was not close [Applause] swings and misses one and two a lot of times you’ll see a pitcher maybe double up on a pitch this guy will throw it three times four times in a row because hitters just can’t lay off of it out towards left center he’s got it two away well those can be pretty fun as an outfielder got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down nothing better than that you feel like a wide receiver playing football so the lineup flips over and next for atlanta ronald akunia jr one for two that one’s in there and that is strike one meanwhile activity in the bullpen klay holmes getting loose out there nunes a hardthrowing right-hander up as well [Applause] rip to third batty to first they limit the damage here one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run it’s now a 43 ball game it’s major league baseball on the show and we’re back and here’s the catcher francisco alvarez francisco alvarez and that one fouled off well these mets doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side and here’s a stat for you bo they’re making contact with more than 85% of the pitches that they’re swinging at it’s pretty special stuff not so good if you’re out there on the mound just off the inside edge ripped to third and caught nothing you can do about those as a hitter even though you know that they still drive you absolutely crazy brett batty getting ready to hit he’s 0 for one just missed the braves up by a run we’re here in the bottom of the fourth that misses the zone two and 0 there’s a swing and a drive and that one hops the wall makes the turn and heads for second not in time it’s a double well when you fall behind in the count you’ve got to come into the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard like he did right there [Applause] one out runner at second ronnie mauricio will hit next he’s 0 for one and that’s in for a strike man at second swings through that one for strike two good eye right there man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets knocks that one away and we’ll do it again [Applause] definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open runner at second here one gone not close with that one two and two [Applause] swing and a miss struck him out he’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field he was out in front there just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track good pitch for the strike out francisco lindor comes up to the plate [Applause] inside corner for a strike 0 and one [Applause] the shorts stop takes a ball activity in the bullpen spencer schwelenbach appears to be getting ready and i’m sure he’s feeling some nerves this would be his major league debut bummer a left-hander also throwing [Applause] next offering is in for a strike he must have been looking for something else cuz he gave up on that pitch a little early it was right down main street probably not going to see a better pitch to hit in this at bat foul ball still a one and two count [Applause] [Music] and that’s downstairs and outside well this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the at bat i’m sure there’s sometimes where a pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter in the dirt he’s safe at third and the tying run is 90 ft away have to be really sure you can make it safely to third when you’re in scoring position and two outs got to get that run across very important does a nice job of reading it gets to third base now just 90 ft away [Applause] cold strike three on the fast ball and that ran back over the other half a lot of adrenaline we can see right there and sometimes you just got to let it out that’s an outstanding job of taking that executing and getting out of a tough inning and welcome back to the ballpark ready now for the fifth inning and now the first baseman matt olsen canning back to work missed with a change up and that’s ball one just missed that’s outside three and 0 and that one clips the corner fouls one away and now three and two [Applause] fouls it back with two strikes he wanted that fast ball high and tight looking for a strike out just didn’t locate it very well sea strikes him out for the second time today this guy will throw any pitch in any count 32 he goes off speed austin riley [Applause] [Music] [Applause] here’s austin riley singled and scored back in the first he’s one for two misses just off the outside edge i think that was a strike base is empty one away and we’re in the top of the fifth and that one is downstairs and that’s ball two he’s clearly trying to work him away here both pitches off the plate if you really want to put the ball in play you’re going to have to stay back and drive it to the opposite field smash down the left field line and it gets by him now he’ll turn for second and he’ll pull into second safely well here we are third time through the order and this is where we see the ops jump up manager might have to go to the bullpen a little bit sooner than he anticipated here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot griffin canning won’t go any further tonight and he’s responsible for the runner on second so the book isn’t closed on him yet we’ll be right back now pitching the mets with a new arm on the mound klay holmes and one thing on him he’s been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park not an easy guy to take deep one out runner at second stepping in marcelo zuna that one finds the zone that’s strike one and he takes the strike riley over at second one down inside and a count one and two man at second that misses the zone and the count’s even at two outside with a breaking ball one out and a runner at second [Applause] [Music] and ball forward to a board his ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one baldwin so now to the plate for atlanta drake baldwin well all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this inning and that one fouled off runners at first and second with one gone [Applause] off the mark there and it’s one and one way to lay off that pitch down [Applause] now a highf fly ball out to left center nmo sizes this one up out number two [Applause] and here comes azie al to the dish azie he’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position some guys just take it to another level for him right now at the plate it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed [Applause] oh two now swing and a miss and he chases that one in the dirt that completes the strike out and that’ll do it two left for atlanta and it remains a 4-3 game [Applause] back now to start the bottom of the fifth and taking over on the mound spencer schwelenbot he has a great slider with tons of movement spencer schwelenbach brandon nmo digs in for the mets left fielder brandon nmo [Applause] and the first pitch misses for ball one one ball no strike [Applause] and another ball [Applause] look pretty good as far as being in the strike zone but i’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located very top of the strike zone middle away swinging a foul back and that’s out of play high fly ball right field this could go the distance home run another homer his second home run of the game it’s 44 listen to these fans this place is absolutely buzzing right now you can feel the energy all the way up here in our broadcast booth well i’m not really sure how he kept that fair when you’re out in front on a breaking ball like that such a good chance that it’s going to hook foul but not this time kept the hands moving forward just long enough to sneak it inside that foul sonto stands in now looks at that one inside well these mets really impressing me with the quality of their bats in this one it’s been fun getting a chance to see him go to work it looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early get him out of the game before he settles in so i’d say mission accomplished that’s in for a strike at 95 and a count even one and one fall off foul always exciting to see a leadoff home run in an inning kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning and that’s off the inside edge and it’s two and two fights it off he’ll see another [Applause] he goes down looking clearly looking out over the plate on that outer third and that pitch finished right down the middle just a little bit in and he couldn’t pull the trigger here’s pete alonso [Applause] swinging a foul out of play one out base is empty and a run in last half of inning number five [Applause] 0 and two now as he swings through it oh two strike three and that’s two in a row well take a look at the three pitch sequence here pretty simple in terms of putting away at the plate once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle and right there clearly he was in swing mode but all you can do is hope to foul that off and now here’s jeff mcneel check swing and he went strike one one strike [Applause] tied at four fou off the plate they’ll do it again that missed by a lot and it’s one and two [Applause] foul ball left side he’ll see another next offering upstairs two good job to fight that one off [Applause] and they’ll do it again ninth pitch of the atbat do next fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts the mets do pick up a run on this solo blast all even now at four a piece you’re dialed into the show back here at city field all right we go to the top half of inning number six now in for the braves alex verdugo that one’s upstairs ball one stirring in the bullpen for the mets ryan stannic up and loosening in the pen densky getting cranked up as well [Music] next offering is in for a strike [Music] [Applause] lined and that’s a base hit just kind of slice that one into center that can be a dangerous pitch if you don’t get it inside enough because as a hitter you see it coming across the plate the whole way no problem handling it and putting a good swing on it that time michael harris ii the next to hit and fouled off [Applause] tied at four ground ball could be two acrobatic throw for one to first not in time great effort there short stop nick allen [Applause] nick allen next up for the braves hole for two in this one definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending double play runner on the goal pitch in for a strike oh and they got it two down nobody on and we’re in the top half of the six [Applause] up the middle mauricio with the throw to first and that is the inning no runs one hit no errors and no one left 6782 in the bottom of the sixth and we are tied 4-4 back here in queens well we go bottom six and now jared young first pitch just misses evidently not too impressed with that call and it feels like he got squeezed on the outside corner so he’s making his case you got to be careful to pick your spots in terms of showing your frustration with the umpire and he felt this was his time and another ball movement in the atlanta bullpen pierce johnson appears to be getting loose montero also getting ready just missed that one misses so a lead off walk oh just came apart right there four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging something out of his arm alvarez francisco alvarez up now for the mets weather takes off yeah that’s fouled off [Applause] next offering is in for a strike with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here [Applause] with a go ahead run at first here in the bottom of the six next offering way off the plate got him make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today next to hit brett bainy for the mets third baseman brett bainy [Applause] that one at the knees for a strike getting a little frustrated with the strike zone [Music] just missed young leads off first with one away [Applause] [Applause] that’s towards center harris has a beat on it puts it away for the out now it’s the second base ronnie mauricio baseman ronnie marisio [Music] first pitch misses one and0 that one catches the corner for a strike [Music] swinging a foul back that’s out of play look out that hit him and it hit him he had him one two and he ends up hitting him with a pinch here comes the manager out of the braves dug out and he will make a move to the pen spencer schwelenbach departs and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching here comes a new arm for the braves well he’s been a really tough guy to take deep this season you usually have to string some hits together in order to get to him so the batting order turns over francisco lindor up now for the mets one for three [Applause] oh can’t pick it up cleanly still able to fire over the bill comes in too late and they don’t get an out on the play well that may end up being an at bat we go back to later on when this game is over that’s one of those you classify as just too hot to handle hit it on the screws and it couldn’t be fielded cleanly but you can’t really blame the defense in that case now the number two hitter brandon nmo he’s got a couple homers already so can he possibly do it again come on man of course he can those two he hit were legit and he looks pretty locked in right now at the dish swings and misses strike one [Applause] two outs that misses the zone one ball one strike one ball one strike in for a strike and now just one pitch away from surviving the inning [Applause] [Applause] bomber deals strike three went back to the sweeper and got the strike out he’s in a tough spot had to make a great pitch did it got the strike out gets out of the jam clearly he’s happy with those results and we’re back and now the right fielder ronald auna jr he’s a big strong guy can untie this game with one swing and that one just misses a ball and no strikes well the game plan for this offense has been pretty clear they’re being aggressive at the plate but still finding ways to pick their spots without falling into the habit of being overaggressive so far they’ve got seven hits within the first three pitches of an at bat so there’s been no time to get comfortable on the mound there’s a one-1 that’s down and in two balls one straight you got this three in one check swing did he go yes he did swung on popped up on the infield alonso hauls it in for the owl and there’s one down a for atlanta first baseman matt olsen and now matt olsen up to hit 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out swinging a foul straight back one and one all tied up here in the top half of inning number seven delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 chases the change up in the dirt up with it fires to first gets the out two down after the strike out now that ain’t third baseman austin here’s austin riley taking high in the draft he’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level and first offering is fouled off let’s go two down nobody on and this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today here’s the o2 swing and a miss stuck him out and he’s registered three ks in this one nothing across here this half seventh inning stretch time and we are tied 4-4 and welcome back to the ballpark set for the last half of the seventh and now it’s wanoto there’s the strike looks like he’s sacrificed to pitch right down the middle for tracking and timing some good hitters will do that strike two going to really need to hang in there with that front side against this left-handed breaking ball one and two [Applause] got him swinging and next will be the cleanup hitter pete alonzo three pitch strike out last time up got to put up more of a fight in this one and that one missing low well a mistake right here could untie this ball game if you’re the pitcher out there you just want to be a little more cautious [Applause] one down base is empty and that’s outside down 2 and 0 [Applause] strike one [Applause] and that one is lifted in the air akuna sizing this one up he’s got it and there’s two away now batting designated hitter jeff mcneel jeff mcneel stands in tap foul at the plate [Applause] on the ground to first and the inning is over mets go down quickly score remains tied at four taking over on the mound for the mets ryan stannic he’s averaging more than one hit allowed per inning pitch this season and that’s not where you want to be at all so we’ll see how he does here hit it marcel ozuna coming up to you the designated hitter marcel ozuna [Applause] and that misses and it’s one and0 action in the mets bullpen tyler zuber up and throwing tied at four the other way down the line and it’s fouled and a count one and two [Applause] and a foul ball he stays alive [Music] [Applause] fouls it off still one and two [Applause] and that’s too high good purpose pitch right there trying to tease him get him to raise his sights pop something up and make it an easy out comes the two caught him looking for the k frustrating end to the atbat for the hitter and i’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while you want to be ready to hit the fast ball sometimes you can overthink things and i think that was the case right there drake baldwin next up for the braves check swing didn’t go and that is ball one [Applause] one down base is empty check swing he went too far and it’s a strike one ball one strike [Applause] right side mauricio in plenty of time to first two up two down here in the top of the eighth well there’s a lot riding on that at bat right there nice job of the pitcher to bear down make the pitch get the ground ball excellent piece of work here is aussie alb’s up to hit infielder shifted to the right short stop just to the left of second just missed late on that fast ball when you throw a fast ball by a guy like that i imagine it’s got to feel incredible look for him to throw it again at some point that one missed two down nobody on and we’re in the top of the eighth [Applause] two outs cut on and missed and it’s a strike out and that is the inning braves are set down 1 two three this game’s all tied at four now pitching back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth pierce johnson on for the 30th time this year jared young for the mets the mets right fielder jared young that misses the zone and that’s ball one [Applause] and that one fouled off instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit slightly up slightly in outside low and a count two and one two in one [Applause] [Music] battling here as he fouls it away [Applause] foul ball another 2-2 upcoming swinging a ball hit out towards left center field makes the grab after a long run and there’s one down that’s just a really nice catch on the run right there he saved extra bases for sure if the pitcher’s his friend he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch [Applause] alvarez in the box now takes strike one action in the pen down there dylan lee getting ready to go [Applause] fouled off down the right side and that’s in the dirt base is empty one away here the bottom half of the eighth inning [Applause] fights that one away still one and two [Applause] [Music] [Applause] swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat well they’ve had a great plan of attack for him tonight finding all the holes in his swing and his approach just frustrating for him up there you strike out a guy three times in a game i think that guy’s got to go back and really study some video with his hitting coach figure out how they’re beating him make this adjustment really quick because word will get around the league in a hurry ben in the box here lets that one go for a ball and that’s in there for a strike and now it’s even one ball one strike upstairs one strike [Applause] in for a strike and out two and two and the curve is down and in ronnie mauricio in the adc circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here two down on the 3-2 is off the outside edge and that is ball four oh looking for a swing and miss right there or for the off to help him out and make the call with that last pitch but neither happened close pitch but a good take to earn that walk if you’re a base runner you got to stay dialed in here look for anything in the dirt try your best to get in scoring position mauricio in the box now takes strike one there it was a high velocity fastball in the zone i think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter he’s got good stuff pitch inside the zone and trust it [Applause] this one in the dirt well done behind the dish two gone the possible go ahead run at first one and two squirts away a little bit runner holds count goes to one and two johnson fires two in the dirt and the runner stays where he is swing and a miss got him to go up the ladder for the k well this guy competes hard we see the emotion there i love it great job of getting out of the jam back here in queens now the left fielder alex verdugo verdugo [Applause] stannic back to work there’s the strike [Applause] 44 in the ninth that one pulled foul slow roller up the middle mauricio tosses to first and the leadoff man retired here in the ninth throwing slider like that one can be tough to get in the air good downward break on that one and now the center fielder michael harris i 0 for three a fly out a ground out and a strike out and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike [Applause] cut on and lifted in the air nmo running hard to get it snags it on the run and there are two outs up next for atlanta nick allen 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out [Applause] and a strike in there [Applause] going to count one and two [Applause] tied at four and a swing and a miss and it’s a three up three down in it so they make short work of him there to the bottom of the ninth we go top of the order do up and we are tied 4-4 [Applause] new pitcher for the braves raphael montero well walks have been a big issue for him this year so i expect these hitters to be patient up there raphael montero and now it’s frankie lind well one swing is a lot easier than getting two or three hits to win this ball game you better believe he’s going to be all in to hit the ball over the fence somewhere that’s to third riley fires to first and they get the lead off man in the ninth now that is left fielder brandon now here is brandon nmo [Applause] and that clips the inside corner movement in the bullpen reel glacius the closer is getting loose lee the lefty warming up as well all tied up here in the last half of inning number nine [Applause] got him that’s the second out here’s the center fielder juan sto one for four with a double no time if you don’t get ahead in the count you can forget about having any success against him first pitch and he just misses it’s getting squeezed a little bit here late [Applause] and that misses and now two and 0 [Applause] swing and a tapper that rolls foul this guy’s got good power with one swing he can win it for him swings through the fast ball up in the zone just threw that fast ball by him elevated and if you’re not looking up in that location very difficult to catch up to especially with that velocity and it remains two and two [Applause] and there’s a ball pete alonzo the kind of bat that can make a big impact if they can keep it going here trying to send this to extra innings hard hit right side throw on to olsen that’s the third out and we’re headed to extras nothing doing here this half nine isn’t enough to decide a winner so we are off to extra innings and we are tied 4-4 now pitching we’re back and on the mound is the closer tyler zuber and he comes on here for the first time this season and i’m and here is ronald akuna jr man at second nobody out and chris certainly one of the things in his head is trying to get the runner over yeah the way that we see the game played today though guys are not sacrificing as much just to get that runner across they’re really looking at doing damage slugging is the name of the game [Applause] yeah i think part of that goes into it’s just so hard to come up with hits in today’s game starters don’t go deep and so hitters are seeing multiple pitchers every night and that makes it more challenging just to come up with a single makes the grab on the run and there’s one away so the go-ahead run in scoring position here’s matt olsen 0 for four with three strikeouts and a fly out [Applause] up and in ball one doublebarreled action in the bullpen deadl nunes the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening jenski warming up as well one out the go-ahead run is at second [Applause] no that’s a ball homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit [Applause] and a two-1 hammered but foul [Applause] look out and it hit him he had two strikes on him and he hit him here comes austin riley third base austin riley one and0 in the dirt runners stay put that’s ball one with the go ahead run standing at second and here in extra innings way high could be some action here on this next pitch couple runners on probably a challenge pitch coming [Applause] on the quarter for a strike now two and one fought off foul allen the lead runner at second olsen over at first with one away [Applause] swing in a liner base hit out into right center field around third he’ll score runner holds a third so just one across on the play well he delivers in a huge spot right there oh he’s so dialed in i don’t think he even realizes how much pressure exists out there very easy swing nice and relaxed this is the type of approach you want to see guys take in this situation two on one out ozuna now at the plate [Applause] and that’s through there for a strike in the infield at the corners don’t be surprised to see them come home first and prevent that run from scoring a runner at third with less than two outs this is the guy that usually comes through in these spots double play ball to second the flip there’s one to first not in time great effort there i promise you they’re guys that get a little bit faster when they can smell an rbi that was a possible inning ending double play great hustle and he gets rewarded with the rbi because of it now it’s the atlanta catcher drake baldwin out towards right center that’s well struck that one carrying gone his second homer this series and they boost their lead it’s 8-4 that’s their third home run of the game they’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one they’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot well he went up there o looking to do damage i think he had his sight set on that pitch he went and got it and circled the bases and here comes the mets manager to the mound pitching change coming tyler zuber is done we’ll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound now pitching the mets with a new arm on the mound deadl nunes he’s into the game with the base is empty nunes so two away with nobody on azie alvies next up for the braves right down to shoot strike one [Applause] strike on the inside corner ground ball up the middle lindor fires over to first that’ll end the inning after a lot of scoring so it’s four runs for him two hits one was a home run no errors no one left last chance to even things up we head to the bottom of inning number 10 it’s the braves eight and the mets four back here at city field ready to go for the last half of the inning and here’s the first baseman pete alonzo ground ball austin riley the throw to first going up one down now batting designated hitter jeff mcneel jeff mcneel will hit next [Applause] at 96 that pitch is in for a strike [Applause] ground ball to the right side takes it himself now only one out remaining now batting right fielder jared young jared young up now for the mets 0 for three in this one [Applause] first pitch doesn’t find the zone outside [Applause] that one is absolutely belted this one could be trouble sodto scores it’s eight to five puts a run on the board and picks up an rbi really good swing right there he got a pitch that he knew he could handle allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws now that sets up a huge at bat in this ball game here comes the manager out of the braves dugout and he will make a move to the pen raphael montero won’t go any further it’s a three-run game and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute rael glacius on to try and close it out and i can’t imagine any save is an easy one you’re holding a small lead on the scoreboard and you know those hitters are going to give you the best at bats they can so it’s always high stress let’s see what he’s got here to try and close it out so runner at second two down and now the catcher comes up to him francisco alvarez that one off the mark ball one [Applause] right through there for a strike they’re down to their final strike see if you can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one two don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you’d get hurt the mets down to their final strike just misses with that one [Applause] ground ball and this should do it and that’ll do it well this is a big win on the road and going extras into 10 uh so hard to pull those out but i think this team did a great job of keeping the crowd out of the ball game late when you can do that it kind of calms everything down keeps the adrenaline of the opposing team down a bit and you can steal a win and get out of here happy and this one ends with the score 8 to five for chris singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at mlb the show i’m john shami we’ll see you soon
