Who Are The BANG THE TABLE Picks For The San Jose Sharks In The 2025 Draft?
who are my bang the table picks for your San Jose Sharks you’re Locked on Sharks your daily podcast on the San Jose Sharks part of the Locked On podcast network your team every day hello welcome to Locked On Sharks the premier hockey podcast covering your favorite team in the Bay Area my name is JD Young caretaker at the reef also the co-host of Locked On NHL i want to thank you for making Locked on Sharks your first listen proudly a part of the Lockdown Network we cover your team every day and if you want to be an everyday all you have to do is just follow along wherever you get podcast or you can watch on YouTube as well and today we’re going to be uh looking at my what I call bang the table pick so players if they are available for the San Jose Sharks when they come up to pick uh these are players who I think the San Jose Sharks should be interested uh in selecting because uh I think they’re very good players and they’re going to be very good players uh for San Jose uh so um we of course Sharks had the number two pick uh in the this year’s draft rate and let me start there and I know there’s a lot especially if you’re on Twitter uh if you’re on what like the rumors are flying uh I’m in LA now i’ve talked to some of my friends here and stuff i get it there’s a lot of anxiety about what the Sharks are going to do at number two whether it’s going to be Anton Fredell or whether it’s going to be Michael Misa first of all let’s take a deep breath guys so um I still as I’m recording this I still think it’s Misa i still think it’s gonna be Michael Misa is going to be the pick um I but and that is who I’m banging the table for we’ll get to Misa in a second if it is Fondelle guys again it’s not the end of the world is it the pick I’d make no does it mean he’s going to be the worst player ever no let’s let’s let’s go back to this time last year right sharks had set up picked the decision between Zoom and Sam Dickinson we as a collective fan baseing the table for Zoom sharks picked Sam Dickinson dickinson pretty good year last year right and not to say Zum didn’t have a great year as well but Dickinson had an excellent year was the def CHL defenseman of the year right um amazing season for Dickinson like going to be you know most likely playing in the NHL next year a a like it feels like the Sharks hit a home run with that pick now go back two years ago right the Sharks need to pick Matt pick Matt Fade Mitchoff at number four no matter what we knew Mitchkoff probably didn’t want to come to San Jose right um Sharks ended up picking Will Smith a lot of people were like “Ah terrible what do we do in San Jose?” Right m Mitch Coff was right there i don’t know will Smith had an amazing freshman season at BC and then followed up with a really great second half of the season uh with the San Jose Sharks last year right i think at this point we give I’m gonna give my career the benefit of the doubt again I still think it’s it’s the pick is going to be Michael Misa but if it’s Anton Frell again it’s not like Friendell is you know like Noah Greger or you know some third line scrub type of player like Friendell is is a great player who was viewed as a potential top pick you know we knew Hagens was was kind of projected to be the top pick but Friendell was right in the mix as well and had some injuries to start the season and had a really strong second half of the season and you can see the style and why it might fit that being said I still I’m banging the table for Michael Misa like would I be disappointed if the Sharks pack us on Michael Misa like obviously do I think it’s a terrible pick no it’s just again I am an idiot as I’ve proclaimed hundreds of times on this podcast i just think Michael Misa is just a more dynamic player um so really quick if you just catch trying to catch up right now uh Michael Misa uh 6’1 184 pounds left-handed shot center uh expected to be the you know one two type of picks shades of mac and celebrity this is all from elite prospects if you’re watching um this highlights his engine his vision master he’s just a cerebral player uh put up 134 points in 65 games in the OHL this year playing with the Sagenov Spirit including 62 go an absurd 62 goals um their elevator pitch ident dynamic play driving dual threat scoring center with exceptional details contact skills and machine-like motor one of the most well-rounded forwards to come out of the OHL in years again like I would be extremely happy if the Sharks picked Michael i’m not again if if they go frontell I get it like I totally get it i get the vision what my career is trying to build etc etc i just think Misa is a better player and I’m banging the table if assuming Schaefer’s won and it feels like Schaefer is going to be one right if Schaefer is number one and it’s Misa verse the field I’m taking Michael Misa at number two because of what you are potentially building down the center with Min Cabrini at number one and Michael Misa as your second line center right having that advantage of a legit number one center playing on your second line that’s the edge that’s like what what playoff teams and stuff like that being able and I get we are years away from the Sharks being like legitimate playoff contenders right legitimate playoff content not just like we’re happy to be here but like legitimate playoff contenders which is what we’re right what we’re building towards that sustainable success i think MISA is a better ingredient to give you that sustainable success because of the flexibility it provides you with again with Michael Celebrity who we we feel like is the number one C right and then between Will Smith and and Michael Misa you can basically have those two guys compete for the second line center and then the quote unquote loser has to go play with with Celabbrini like it and the great thing is if again with all these guys who have center flexibility if somebody gets hurt like you’re not losing a number one center right if Celebrity gets hurt Misa can play number one C for a while and Will Smith can play 2C and you have plenty of wings in the pipeline right and plenty of w like it’s easier to find wings if Smith gets hurt if like the the just the overlap and the flexibility it gives you with your roster just and then two if Will Smith doesn’t work as a center you don’t have to go looking for a second line look at what every team is looking for right now in the league most teams they’re trying to upgrade that 2C imagine you can lock yours in for the next 15 years your one and two C’s between Celibbrini and Smith and just that D or CBrini and Misa and then you also have Smith as well just the dynamic nature of those players and again not to say again Anton Frell isn’t gonna you know projected to be a second line center which okay cool but just the it’s the almost a cheat code basically to have your number a a second number one center like a second legitimate number one center like a a guy who can be a number one center on you know basically most teams right unless you have like McDavid or McKenna like you get what I’m saying but a guy who would be you know a number one center on 75% of the league as your second line center it just it gives you so options right look at the Oilers mcdavid best player in the world do I think Celebrating is going to be McDavid no but their ability to again give dry you know dry side will be the second line center and give him better op opportunities right or break in case of emergency you can you put those two guys together and see what happens uh the team has been very good yes they have not been able to do the thing but um as a Sharks fan right going to back-toback Stanley Cup champions and uh if they if the Oilers had any sort of goalending like you get what I’m saying uh so Michael Misa my number one bang the table if he is there at number two which we expect uh the San Jose Sharks should pick him if he’s not there um you’re getting Matthew Schaer which would be really awesome but uh again we we expect like Schaers basically a lock to go at number one here so um yes that’s my first so we’re going to be kind of switching now to kind of the uh end of the first rounds beginning of second round guys who I really like and uh if you’ve been you know listened to any of the pro like draft stuff that we’ve covered and stuff you probably know who who we’re going to be covering here but uh we’re going to be talking about a couple defenseman and one forward uh so be talking about uh Blake Fiddler here in just one second ever wish your money felt easier i’ll start again three two one ever wish managing your money felt easier with Monarch money it can whether time to subscribe we’ll have extra content coming especially on YouTube you’ll hear from some of the top prospects you’ll hear from whoever the Sharks pick at number two uh so plenty of great stuff make sure you’re following along wherever you get podcast and of course uh subscribe on YouTube as well so um bang the table we know again Sharks invested a lot in their their forward group recently right um Celibbrini Smith Musty uh Shernov Casper Halton Colin Gra like the Sharks William Mlin like the Sharks feel like that that group is starting to kind of take shape right and again always pick the best player available but this player Blake Fiddler I feel like is the perfect cross-section of need and potential best player available so Blake Fiddler if you’re uh not aware uh right-handed defenseman uh 6’4 209 lbs uh he’s expected to kind of go in that late first beginning of the second uh shades of Adam Larson per elite prospects um their elevator pitch one of the tools defenseman of the draft class with a plus of mo ability and flashes of exciting puck skills but shutting down the opposition will be his calling card known for his tools play killer and his transition ability uh he played with the Edmonton Oiler King Oil Kings in WHO he in 64 games he had 10 goals 23 assists for 33 points uh his dad of course also uh played uh was a played in the NHL as well uh with the National Predators fiddler again we know that we like we know that that Mike Greer likes those big mobile playing defenseman right um Dickinson in that vein but with way higher offensive upside as as we’ve seen and again I don’t think Fiddler is going to be like some sort of offensive juggernaut but he’s a big physical shutdown defenseman that we have seen right as like in this playoffs you know you look at Eblad big physical right-handed shutdown defense there’s way more offensive chops right but you know Gustaf Forsley like those shut down defenseman and yes you know me I’m in the defense is for nerds go score goals philosophy of it’s better to to drive play and score goals uh than it is to sit back and play defense uh I think it’s just it’s too much stress but anyway Biddler though uh you you do need these dudes and um the Sharks have invested a lot in their front you know in the forward group if Fiddler is somehow there at 30 Mike Greer should be I I would say running to the uh running to his computer to email i don’t know how they get the picks in now this year with a decentralized draft but um Fiddler the first bang the table if Fiddler is on and I’m I’m doing these in order my order of guys I would like if Fiddler is out of all these guys if Fiddler is there I think he is the best fit of both need and best potentially best player available at 30 or wherever the Sharks pick uh I I think he is would be a fan favorite i think you could pair him with easily pair him with Sam Dickinson um and just have some massive mobile beef on the blue line uh for years to come going to need some time like I I don’t expect Fiddler to be a guy who jumps straight you know not like Dickinson where we’re talking a year from now to potentially play in the the NHL he’s gonna need a little bit more development runway which is fine but uh I Filler’s a dude so Filler’s a dog he’s got that dog in him type of thing so um next guy another defenseman the left-handed i know you’re rolling your eyes i can feel it but uh Sasha Bumidian left-handed 6’1 175 pounds kind of in that 30 to 50 range uh for elite prospects um he’s uh played this season with Boston University 38 games three goals 10 assists uh 13 points like the numbers aren’t like they don’t knock your socks off uh an incisive breakout passer who grew in confidence and details throughout the season now he looks capable of filling a two-way role in the NHL going for his vision motor and again that transition ace which is something I’m very like get the puck out of the zone which is something that struggle with um I know Bumidian not the greatest year but you have to keep in mind one of the youngest players in the NCAA this year if not the youngest i I one of the youngest well so um I’m taking the upside i’m taking the runway of yeah he got his butt kicked for the first half of the season but he was a much better player the second half of the year and was earning a much bigger role um yes again not going to be the most offensively driven guy but I think there’s going to be a bigger opportunity with him uh next season on Boston University um I think I said BC earlier my bad boss on beu um Tom Villander who the the Canucks picked 11th overall a couple seasons ago signed a ZLC of course um I know they have one of the huts eyes there still and that that he all the offense from the blue line is going to run through him but we saw Bumidian carving out a bigger role by the end of the season and especially during playoff time uh and during the NCAA tournament i think he that that is going to be a jumping off point where after you draft him I think you can see a a big jump from him this season now that sophomore season got his feet underneath him uh should expected to carve out a bigger role on a BEu is going to be a very good team again going to be playing big time hockey and I’m willing to take the jump that the risk jump whatever i’m willing to to bet on the ability for him to continue to grow especially because he’s so young right um I know the the birthday thing right is always kind of a running joke or whatever but like still uh this guy’s birthday is uh is is one of the later you know uh like he didn’t turn 18 till midway through the season like I I think that is a huge huge advantage that he’s played a lot of college he’s played an entire season of college hockey and half of it as a 17-year-old um again I think he I’m I’m willing to bet on the upside and I’m willing to bet on on the runway that’s what I’m betting on is the runway for Bumidian to continue to get better and be that two-way defenseman uh that’s that’s anybody knows like I like more offensively need defenseman because again we will keep the puck out of your def zone you don’t have to play defense but guys who can get the puck from point A to point B and guys who can be those transition guys uh I think we we see it more and more in the NHL you need to have at least one on the ice if not both your defenseman on the ice at all times who can uh help with that and I I I’m willing to bet on Bumidian so we’re going to look at a forward and a defenseman here uh guys who I again very table banging if these guys are potentially available these are guys I want uh my career to draft uh we’ll be talking about Bill Zanin the ultimate dog and him player uh in just one second guys you’ve probably heard of VI Viagra or Seialis maybe you’ve even tried them but if you’re looking for something beyond the usual pill it’s time to get Rugetti ready uh Rugetti is a NextGen later than usual in LA all that fun stuff so um when you’re done checking out this episode uh make sure you guys are checking out the Locked on NHL podcast uh we are busy right now right with the draft we have free agency next week so we’re going to be covering the biggest daily leaguewide stories and even when the all the fun offseason stuff’s over we still got you covered every day uh with local coverage you love from Locked On find Locked on NHL on YouTube wherever you listen to podcast all right um Bill Zanin banging the table for Bill Zanin um if you want a power forward guy and yes I know there’s the Porter Marone hive out there um I think Bill Zan can do a lot of the same stuff not as again not like Porter Martone there’s a reason he’s a potential top five top 10 pick and Bill Zanin is a late first round pick but Bill Zanin I think uh worthy investment at the end of the first beginning of the second so uh Zanin’s 6’1 185 pound left-handed forward uh expected to kind of go in that 24 to 32 range so end of the first round here playoff ready forward with a special checking skill uh skill intelligence relentless pace and playmaking uh he played uh with the Huskies in the KM uh the QMJHL i know he just got traded as well too so uh he played 64 games 28 goals 55 assists 83 points at that time his traits got that dog in him fearless and vision zanin is a Mike Greer player if you ever kind of came up with it right um that compete level that intensity um that snarl but also the skill like this isn’t just some you know like jabron fourthline guy that you put out there and he’s just going to kind of muck it up for you he’s super skilled too um and the way he plays like he does not take a shift off um this is a a play like they said this is a playoff type of dude and yes like I mentioned earlier we are years away from uh legitimate playoff contenders right and Zan is going to need some time i think he’s a guy who will like he’s going to play you know in the queue um again next year but wouldn’t be surprised if maybe a year of college and then kind of pro after that or whatever it is but like he’s going to need some time to develop but when he man he would be a special player to put in your middle six and especially if you’re worried about the size of of guys you know not the size but like maybe the physicality or of some of the Sharks a little bit smaller forwards he plays big and he doesn’t give up he doesn’t quit um this is a this is one of those guys you uh teams are going to hate to play against and he will quickly become a fan favorite because of his style of play um and it’s not like reckless right it’s not like he’s just out there doing crazy stuff again in control super skilled type of player um but he just gets under other players skins and uh yeah 100% bang the table if the Sharks walk away with with Zanin in this draft um you should be over the moon because of the the player that they just uh put into the system and a line of again like uh whatever you know Beast if you put like a third line of Zanin Beast and then like Halton or Colin Graph or like Holton especially just that third line right there like Zanin’s the smallest guy but he plays mass He plays the biggest out of all three of those guys but that would be a brutal line for anybody to try to go up against uh for what those I think those three could bring so um finally also again oh like I really like all these like don’t think like cuz I’m just getting to Henry Bsteevich right now like I just like Henry like I would I would be if the Sharks walk away with any of these four players like I am going to be ecstatic on Friday night um you know like especially at the end of the first round or beginning of the second round I will be ecstatic if they watch walk away with one of these guys because I really believe in all these guys um so Henry Busevich uh who we’ve talked about a bunch on this podcast but 6 foot1 203 pound right-handed defenseman uh expected to kind of go in that 30 to 50 range um a high activity blue liner with a well-rounded toolkit who looks to create on every puck touch particularly off the rush but details need refining uh he played with the London Knights was Sam Dickinson’s partner for the majority of the season 67 games had 10 goals 32 assists for 42 points um known for his fleet of foot um in as a tooly player he’s probably got the most out of all these guys the most kind of uh range of what type of player he’s going to be that’s probably why I have him fourth among these guys uh because he’s like I’ve mentioned before he’s going to be a guy where I think you’re either he’s either like a really good NHL defenseman and there’s also a very realistic world where he just never kind of cracks the NHL because um there’s there’s a wide range of outcomes with him but again that that fit of need and potentially BPA uh Bruce Sevich is a guy who I I think in the end of the first round beginning of the second round I’m willing to take a swing on him uh because again I think the upside is potentially there as a second pairing type of defenseman um and like I I I like defenseman who can move and move with the puck and create for other players we saw that especially this season uh with London and yes like you’re not going to get a chance to shine when you’re playing with Sam Dickinson but I think you saw enough of it and with the London Knights potentially going or not potentially uh undergoing some some big uh roster moves with a lot of their guys leaving i think Bruce Sevich has a runway to really take off next year because I think he’s going to grow into a much bigger role um so uh again I know I’ve talked about Bruce Savage a bunch on this podcast i just really like him and uh I’m taking a swing like I I would be 100% willing to take a swing on Bruce Savage uh we know the Sharks have watched him a bunch uh we’ve seen him play with Sam Dickinson um they need some more right-handed defense ball they just need more defenseman in the pipeline but uh Bruce Seavage I feel like is is a guy worthy of a pick there so that’s going to be it for me tonight uh we will be back uh get you guys ready for the draft on Friday so uh we got plenty of great stuff make sure uh you’re following along especially on YouTube we’ll have some uh we’ll probably you’ll probably hear from some of the top picks we’ll have some footage and everything like that uh especially on YouTube so make sure you’re following along wherever you get podcasts of course you can watch on YouTube as well follow the show on Twitter Facebook and Instagram at Lockdown Sharks follow me on Twitter and Blue Skyfry Hole till tomorrow bye friends

Give me Max Psenicka. Even at 30 I’d be stoked
CAN WE DRAFT THAT DAWG?
Even if Frondell has a heavy, playoff kind of game and is a great pick in the end, his numbers are going to regress in Djurgardens next year and Sharks fans are going to be even more mad. Getting promoted to the SHL for Djurgardens is a huge difference in competition from Alsvenskan and production in the SHL is always dramatically less from a teenager.
3:56 Noah Gregor catching a stray😂 I don’t disagree but… damn
The ‘anxiety’ amongst Sharks fans about taking Frondell over Misa is totally justified and it only exists in the first place IF we take Frondell at 2, and don’t trade down to 3 to take Frondell.
I think a lot of Sharks fans would be perfectly happy with Frondell IF we trade with Chicago for #3, #25, and Rinzel for #2, or something along those lines. (Or maybe even just Rinzel and #3 for #2).
The anxiety about the Frondell rumors only exists because we’re worried that we’re going to take Frondell at 2 and not trade down to get more assets along with Frondell.
Because it’s blatantly obvious that if we trade #2 to Chicago for #3, it’s a 100% guarantee lock that they take Misa at 2, guaranteeing Frondell at 3 for us.
So yes, I’d be pissed if we take Frondell over Misa at 2. However, that anger largely disappears if we come out of our first pick with Frondell and Rinzel (*and* maybe even one more draft pick, either 34 or 25).
…oh and, btw… NY is going to take Misa at 1. We’re getting Schaefer at 2. The organizational need for a scoring forward like Misa is way greater in NY than their need for a top defenseman. And, as good as Schaefer is, GM’s don’t like a sample size of 17 games for a #1 overall pick in the draft. GM’s want safety, they want a guarantee if they’re picking 1st overall. And while Schaefer’s injury concerns are as small as they could be… they are still there, whereas there are zero injury problems with Misa, to go along with the difference in sample sizes in their draft year…. the Islanders are going to take Misa at 1. And yes of course every single report is going to say NY is taking Schaefer at 1.. it’s called ‘gamesmanship.’ NY has nothing to gain by indicating in any way whatsoever that they might take Misa at 1. Whereas they have everything to gain if that ever-so-rare trade for 1st o.a. were to go down with the Sharks.
We’re getting our boy Schaefer at 2 guys, and all the Misa evaluations by Sharks content creators will end up having been a small waste of time (which is freakin *SWEET!*) lol
Misa is the right choice. And it would be ridiculous if Misa and Celebrini actually end up in a real competition for 1C.
We can't go wrong with the pick! If Frondell ends up being the selection I don't want everyone to act like the roofs on fire. Celebrini & Frondell as your 1 and 2 C complement each other so well, both bring something different to the table. Also, imagine them on the same power play… I do think the smart move would be to trade down with Chicago and get an extra asset but if Chicago is certain Grier is leaning Frondell I don't see them budging cause why would they.
Misa!
