David Pagnotta provides a update on Edmonton Oilers free agency | Oilers Rumors

vander Kane gets moved for a fourth round pick the big win is that the Oilers obviously get out of the capit i’ll ask you a two-parter was there a market for Evander Kane and how does Arvdson’s market potentially compare to that um yeah there were more teams that were that Edmonton was speaking to um regarding Evander Kane and according to his agent were two others beyond Vancouver where it was kind of down to the finish line um and ultimately it it ended up being the Canucks i don’t think the Canucks were initially on his trade list um I think that had to change at some point over the last I don’t know if it was the last week or going into the playoffs if something like that changed but I believe they were on they weren’t on his trade list originally uh when when he submitted his list around the trade deadline and then and then it it altered um I I like I like the move for Vancouver because they need a top six guy uh they need some offense and they need a motivated player and Kane’s going into a contract year where he wants another contract so he’s going to be motivated to play well so I like it from their perspective and that and the reason they gave up a pick rather than Edmonton having to incentivize a team for eating that cap hit is because there were other teams that were willing to also do that so it ends up being the Oilers and or excuse me the Canucks and the Oilers win in the end by freeing up that space and you mentioned Arbitson um there are multiple teams that are also in discussions with Stan Bowman about acquiring Arvidson and trying to figure out what makes the most sense they’re trying to capitalize as well to see how they can maximize a return here uh for him as he enters the final year of his deal he has a full no move he submitted the list of teams that he would wave it to um and I think it’s still situational so I think he still has a final say once they’ve agreed uh and then you know he’ll say “Okay fine i’ll I’ll go I’ll go here.” I don’t know which what the teams are uh at this stage but it would be similar situation you’re eating the full $4 million cap um on Arvidson’s deal uh obviously they’re going to need someone to replace those guys and I believe you mentioned yesterday that Andrew Mania could be an option for the Oilers what can you tell us about that situation yeah he’s on their radar um he’s one of the players that they’re um likely to pursue come come July one there are a number of teams that are viewing him um as a mid9 or top nine option mid six I should say excuse me um and like Toronto’s in the mix on that or will be in the mix on that they’ve they’re on or he’s on their radar excuse me uh the Jets as well Seattle Boston there are other teams it’s a shallow free agent pool boys so there are some there are you know you’re going to see players that are going to cash in a little bit extra on deals now I think he’s going to be in the 4 to5 million range somewhere in that vicinity depending on term i I don’t know if that’s a fit for the Oilers based on I mean we’ll have to wait to see what else they potentially do but I do anticipate them being um a team that at least makes that makes that inquiry for a guy like M Japan to fill out that that mid6 uh in environment for them yeah and obviously there is a little bit of a hole there for the Oilers they have some guys who are pending UFAS of their own cory Perry Connor Brown Kasperi Kaan as well have you heard anything on that front when it comes to the Oilers appetite of maybe just keeping some of the guys who were here last year versus going out and and spending up for a new piece well they’d like to do both um they they I I think they perfect world Cory Perry stays um I think they’re they’re they’re in discussions right now with Connor Brown’s camp this week to see if that’s going to be um a possibility and and if it’s low dollars then I think it might there might be a fit there um but they’re gonna they’re going to look to fill elsewhere like they’re gonna let’s round out to guys to hold on to and then let’s fill the rest of those voids from from outside options um I’m not sure where things stand quite frankly with with Kenan i I I don’t I wish I did i don’t have an answer on that um but I do know you know Frederick they’re still trying to hammer that out and I still believe that’s you know eight years 3.75 neighborhood is is where that’ll end up i think they’re just still trying to figure out um structure so unless something has happened in the last 10 minutes um I think that’s what that’s kind of where things are at there and then I mentioned again Perry is likely to stick around they would hope uh and then you know if Brown’s there on a low on a low-end deal uh I I think I think there’s an opportunity for him to stick around too um but you know I know there’s a lot of people are going “Well they got a lot of cap space and and they’ll create $4 million more.” Well the four million pretty much is gone because you given that to Frederick for the most part uh and then I think a lot of people keep forgetting that Evan Bushard is going to need a lot of money and that’s going to eat up a big chunk of your of your cap space so this is going to take a little bit of juggling and finagling here by uh by Stan Bowman and company what’s up Nation citizens if you like that video then you need 1. We loved mangiapane in Washington, he is a solid player, caps have a few young guys taking a step next year that can do the same as AP. AP had to play up and down the lineup because caps need a consistent 3rd line center that hurt his production.

  2. If they are gonna give Bouchard his payday, convert him to a forward. Could become a lesser version of Draisaitl from the wing with his shot. And best of all he’d no longer be on defense. A much lower paid defenseman could accomplish more on defense with less gaffs. Solves 2 problems IMO.

  3. Just stick with Stu Skinner. He's the key right. He's elite right? He almost won 2 cups so he must be elite right! I hope Pickard goes to a city where he isn't shet on by idiots who just keep saying "He's just a backup", no matter how many series' he saves.
