with training camp officially less than a month away the Dallas Cowboys are looking really good and I know it was just throughout OTAAS and mandatory mini camp but there are a lot of guys that just look different and the organization the aura around the team right now it feels different as well it feels like everything is starting to change the culture under Brian Shanheimimer Dak Prescott is getting better and better and better and yes he said that they’re still in the developmental stage well obviously he’s trying to adapt to a new playbook and a new coaching staff here with under Brian Shanheimimer um but obviously the competition added behind him in um you know Joe Milton I think is going to push him a very long way but in this video what I wanted to do specifically was actually break down three players that have the ability not only to make this football team but have a big role from what they have showcased so far okay so in this video we’re going to talk about three players mainly some undrafted guys and some veterans that have already been on the team that are shooting shooting up this dep chart we’re going to break down before we dive in comment down below who you think could potentially break out and let’s dive into the video the first guy I have on my list that could potentially fight for playing time on day one is UCLA defensive tackle Jay Toyoyo who they drafted in the seventh round the number one overall pick in the round um he is already starting to make a difference throughout rookie mini camp OTAAS’s mandatory mini camp the coaching staff had a lot of good things to say about this 6’2 342 lb um lineman right now when you look at their depth chart going into next season he slots in as more of a nose than a defensive tackle you already have Mazy Smith the former firstrounder but obviously you need depth behind him and already he is slotted in here according to this depth chart as the number two guy in this football team now when you go uh you know to some of his strengths right he’s a big nose tackle right he’s got great aggression at least when you watch the film you can really tell uh pretty much right away that he adds toughness um goes through double teams he got wide base strong legs that drives through a lot of the time again drive power another thing opens rush edge with violent slaps and club moves overall this is a player that has positioned himself to be in the running to get a lot of playing time already in year one of his rookie season with this football team and I am excited and so is the coaching staff about Jay Toya i wanted to show you this small little article from um Sports Illustrated they said it’s not often a seventh round pick flirts with starting reps as a rookie okay but that could be the case for Jay Toya the UCLA product proved to be a force during offseason work now obviously we need to take this with a grain of salt guys um there are no pads on right now um there’s no really crazy contact there are 111s but it’s not anything crazy again with no pads once the pads come on in training camp that’s when we’re actually going to see how good this guy can be so take it with a grain of salt right now and was taking reps with the first team at OTAAS again um yes that is meaningful but we need to see it with the pads on dallas is hopeful that Mazy Smith can finally turn the corner but if not the 342 lb Jay Toya will be waiting in the chance to steal a spot and competition you need at every single level and I think Jay is going to bring that on day one to Mazi Smith during training camp so when we cover training camp that is going to be a major talking point of every single practice that knows tackle position can this guy overtake and become the starter possible the next guy on my list is another defender here but it’s someone who is a U DFA an undrafted free agent now the one position I like to look at a lot here um you know Kenneth Murray linebacker position right jack Samborn you bring over uh Shamar James another guy you added you have Mart still you have Deone Clark who I like but Justin Baron a UDFA free agent safety he was a safety now he’s transitioning to linebacker is making a major impact on this coaching staff and he could be another guy that positions himself maybe not to get starting reps obviously but to get reps throughout the season and it’s going to be very crucial that he does it during preseason and training camp that he continues to show what he’s been showing but if he does I could see some playing time on forum this year now before I break down anything else from um you know mini camp OTAAS and another couple of players make sure you guys do me a big favor hit the like button if you want more of these Dallas Cowboy breakdowns got you guys covered throughout the entirety of this year’s season offseason everything um but let’s dive back into the video and here’s another article from Sports Illustrated about Justin Baron an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse justin Baron is making the transition from safety to linebacker during rookie mini camps in OTAAS he turned heads and came off as a natural at the position um now this is a guy with good instincts he’s got good knowledge of the game and he’s got a good size to play the linebacker position now Dallas isn’t incredibly deep at linebacker which I kind of disagree with i think they have a lot of guys there that I really like obviously the injury here uh to Dearon is going to you know suck a little bit but he he’s getting better quick i like Kenneth Murray he’s another guy that’s been standing out at practices i like Jack Sanborn i think Deone Clark has potential but behind that it get Martis is good i like Martis we’ll see what Shamar James can do i think he could slot in up here somewhere that’s just my opinion um but they say which helps Baron’s chances with his cover skill and speed or helps his chances with his coverage skill and speed he could find his way onto the roster as a rookie and might even be in the mix for snaps on special teams early so again we’re looking at at at the standpoint of he’s not going to come in and be a day one starter at the linebacker position but he is someone that can go from UDFA to potentially practice squad or even on the 53man roster as a core special teamer and eventually working his way up to be on the field uh defensively i think he’s got all the instincts i think he’s got the speed i think he’s got the the ability to play in the NFL and I think they got a nice little steal here in Justin Baron the last guy I have on my list is Kyrie Elam now I know it’s a little bit different because he’s you know was traded former first round pick but I’m telling you right now guys this change of scenery from Buffalo to Dallas is going to be everything he looks good athletic smart instinctual cover skills are good i know he was bad last year in the regular season but so far so good for Kyrie Elam they are extremely high on him um as well as Savon Revel uh Kalin Carson i don’t know how people feel about Trayvon Diggs coming back from his injury right now but when you look at Kyrie Lam Don Bland Kayn Carson and Revel the DB room suddenly doesn’t look that bad they love Malik Cooker they like Donovan Wilson from there huani Thomas has been another guy that’s been breaking out um right uh Mukamu another guy they like so again they have a lot of DBs i think this team is in for a really big year i really do so let me know what you guys think overall those are some of the big standouts I see defensively so far jay Toya Justin Baron and Kyrie Elon we got someone at at a you know a potential starter in Elon potential starter in Jtoya and then someone that could make the team as a UDFA so
