Few players have seen their stock rise quite as quickly as Nick Woltemade has in the past year. The Werder Bremen youth academy product tried and failed to break into Die Werderaner’s starting lineup and eventually left on a free transfer to VfB Stuttgart. There, he was supposed to play second fiddle to the talented strikers at the club such as Deniz Undav, Emerdin Demirović and more.

Fast forward a year and he is Stuttgart’s star striker, earning himself the nickname of “Woltemessi” for his incredible dribbling and close control despite his 6’6” frame, while netting 17 goals in all competitions.

Woltemade may not be part of Die Schwäben for long, however. Remarkably, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich and Woltemade have reached a full verbal agreement for a transfer this summer:

FC Bayern and Nick Woltemade have reached a full verbal agreement on a summer transfer! The 23 y/o versatile striker wants to join Bayern with immediate effect. Long-term contract until 2030 with salary terms already agreed in the last days. Bayern’s supervisory board have already approved the deal. There have been no negotiations between the clubs yet. The contract with VfB is valid until 2028, with no release clause. VfB want to keep him.

Of course, there were reports that board member for sport Max Eberl had flown back to Munich from the Club World Cup (and back again) to finalize some transfer dealings. Could this deal have been the reason for his departure from the United States?
