Jeff Marek is dreaming. Tavares had a great season at age 34 playing for his hometown team. He almost scored 40 goals. He wants to finish his career in Toronto, but IF he was tempted to leave it would be for a Cup contender not a frigging BOTTOM FEEDER. WHY IN THE F would John Tavares go to a first year expansion team?
You honestly JT wants to displace his family over a difference of maybe 2-3 million dollars ? Highly unlikely

The only problem is thinking Tavares would rather be a 2c then a 3c, he has invested his money wisely enough that he should be set by now regardless of his final contract. 2c has much more scrutiny then a 3c, who’s to say he’s just not ready to half ass it and take less of a responsibility role instead of being another role model or leading figure. Maybe he’ll take half that to stay in Toronto as a 3c. Moving around is a pain in the ass.

I am a Tavares hater, but he's still a 1st line center on half the teams in the league and a 2nd line center on the rest. He probably still sleeps in his Maple Leafs PJ's. He'll take a hometown discount and stay in Toronto. He's certainly not interested in going to Utah.
