well truly for him there is no place like home he’s been so dominant here and as a teammate you expect him when pitching at home this year to go out and dominate just as he has the fans expect it and I think everyone around here knows that he’s a good pitcher even though we don’t see the same splits on the road we’re going to start to see that translate as well
cj Abrams leading things off and takes a strike next offering is down low no two balls one strike top of the zone and it’s called a strike two and there’s the ball foul we’ll see another payoff pitch got him looking he’s got to be frustrated with that call well even though he strikes out he saw a lot of pitches and he battled plus it gave the guys behind him an opportunity to see more from the pitcher not the result he wanted but that’s still a good at bat james Wood will hit next and first offering is fouled off let’s go Angel to the right side more quick start here this evening two out top of the first as we take a look at the Nationals lineup and Chris this group has been struggling to put up runs lately well they haven’t been on base a ton and even when they are they haven’t been hitting very well with runners on base so they need a player or two to really step up have some quality at bats hit according to the situation and sort of break out of this i think if they do the rest of this lineup will follow luis Garcia stands in now and watches strike one outside ball [Music] just missed he swings and hits a fly ball center field and that’ll get down for a hit joey gets on base and keeps it going showed some really nice patience in that at bat worked himself into a good count when you flare a ball out behind second base it’s really a tough spot for anyone to get to and you’re never trying to do that as a hitter but when you do I tell you what you’re yelling at it the entire way to get down
nathaniel Low stands in with two away as he takes a ball he’s a master at hitting fast balls you need to be careful with location if you’re going to throw them clips the corner and the count even at one yep ground ball left side and foul ball garcia leads off first with two down to the inning goes down looking nationals leave one and now the Angels will get their first opportunity in this one no score it’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show back here at Angel Stadium towing the slab in today’s game cole Henry
and a guy like this is going to keep you in the ball game he’s going to go out there compete not going to see a whole lot of flare and flash but he’s going to hand it over to the bullpen at some point and if you’ve been able to score a few runs you’ll be in it late so we’ll see if he’s able to do that for his club in this one
we go to the bottom of the first so in down for the Angels zack Neto and a pitch highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side hard on the ground to first he takes it on his own one up one down all right let’s take a look at the Angels lineup singing this righty heavy lineup is a bit unusual against a right-handed pitcher
yeah Boog certainly bucks the old conventional wisdom and I’m not sure I see the vision from the manager on this one you’re not exactly putting your players in the best situation to succeed when you roll out a lineup like this maybe they’ve seen something on video that tells them there’s a weakness to exploit perhaps that’s it luis Rangifo in the box with one away as he takes ball one that clips the corner that’s a good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout [Music] and here it comes swings and misses struck him out
he came out of his mechanics there typically likes to shoot the ball the other way but that time little anxious
two outs base is empty mike Trout the next to hit for the Angels swings and misses one no ball one strike two out space is empty and that one is downstairs one ball one strike fast ball is outside and now the count filled up three and two swing and a miss and he got him three up three down inning over angels held in check scoreless after one back in Anaheim and now the switch hitting first baseman Josh
Bell yeah that’s too high puts it in the air out towards left center he’s got it one up one down
bill those can be pretty fun as an outfielder got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down nothing better than that you feel like a wide receiver playing football brady House at the plate and takes high there anderson he has a reputation I don’t know maybe a knack for working himself out of tough situations that he finds himself in you know you like that in a relief pitcher but when you have it for a starting pitcher a guy that can’t get out of a tight spot that is pretty valuable come on let’s go let’s And you won’t see the skipper rush to get somebody up in the bullpen as soon as he starts to see some signs of trouble this guy’s earned a longer leash and because of that confidence grows with the players and teammates playing behind him that when things get a little rough out there they know he’ll find his way through it how much of the ability to do that in a tight spot is the mental approach i think it’s very much being able to have a laser-like focus slow everything down stay right in that moment pitch to pitch execution and focusing on that catcher’s mid dalen L the next to hit takes outside second inning here no score next offering is fouled back two outs and a swing and a miss and that’s that and the Nationals gone in order we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score and welcome back to the ballpark here’s the left fielder Taylor Ward
take it high in the draft he’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level and there’s a foul ball i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just is having a hard time catching up that one misses and it’s one and two
rarely will you see a pitcher just to waste a pitch like that the batter wasn’t even tempted to swing every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get that out swing and a tapper tosses to first that’s one out the bottom of the second here’s the Angels catcher Logan Ohappy and Singy we already know he’s going to finish the season with a new careerhigh in home runs in there for a strike at the bottom of the zone
first pitch strike right there for him he’s going to have to do that consistently if he’s going to give any length to his skipper
there’s a high chopper now the throw to first on the run and he gets him nicely done adel here’s Joe Adele he set a new career high in home runs this year and Singi he’s just trying to set the bar as high as possible now right through there for a strike next pitch misses and the count even one and one highfly ball out to center field young makes the grab and that’s the inning we’ll move to the third with no score and we’re back and now the catcher comes up to him riley Adams anderson back to work adams getting the starting catcher in the eighth spot in today’s lineup and he was a third round pick back in 2017 swing and a miss and he was fooled struck him out looking wow that’s a tough call for the hitter but the pitcher will take that all day long not quite in the strike zone but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call so hitters are going to have to make an adjustment but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit him if they can jacob Young the next to hit takes ball one top of the third no score swing and a line drive slicing into right field and that gets down for a base hit and now the lineup turns over with one away so the batting order turns over here’s CJ Abrams now step off throw to first and he’s back in there and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike young the base runner at first with one out next one misses one and one
oh he’s really working him away this at bat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield swing and a miss and the count one and two i think he was sitting off speed there run around to go pitch is low throw save that’s a stolen base
you know what i like the aggressiveness right there it looks like it’s going to be tough to score in this one really good pitching so far so why not try to put some pressure on them and see if you can steal the bag get in the scoring position and

one out and a runner at second we’re here in the top half of inning number three in the air left field down the line ward running hard to get it won’t get to this one it drops foul 3-2 fights it off he’ll see another as a pitcher you know the runner on second is ready to push things with this speed a base hit is probably going to be a big run so you really have to execute on the mount
fouled off again and it remains three and two and ball four two aboard he’s making things difficult for himself right now out there on the mound but you know his confidence should still be high enough to get out of this but he’s going to have to buckle down right here wood in the box lays off for ball one next pitch is downstairs good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch one out runners at first and second and that’s downed away

luis Garcia in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here and there’s the automatic
taken all the way on three 0 right there and as a hitter you’re saying “Why couldn’t I get that pitch earlier in the count when I’m looking to swing?”
And that’ll load the bases oh that sets up a really big at bat in this game these are the moments when everyone in the stadium gets really locked in

i’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound this guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year
and that one just misses a ball and no strikes [Music] yeah that’s outside
two Hawks in the inning already and he just doesn’t seem comfortable out there like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them blind drive and that’s a base hit out of left center field in to score from third and it’s an RBI single and they take a two-run lead big RBI for him right there pretty much a model swing on that one as he ripped it into the opposite field gap and I’m sure he’s going to be watching that one back on video because that’s the kind of swing you want to bottle so many positives that led to that knock first and second two outs here’s Josh Bell misses off the inside ball one and another ball that one down the line and foul ball
two aboard two outs on the ground to third and that’s a fair ball headed for the plate he’ll score easily it’s an RBI single and they’re up by three
two consecutive base hits for these guys here i know that was a ground ball but it was absolutely hammered through the infield that’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder you know they used to say charge it crazy
so two on with two away brady House digging in for the Nationals basketball for a strike swing and a miss there’s the change up very well executed change up right there if he can command the fast consistently that’s going to be an important pitch in terms of him turning this outing around caught looking for the K three runs for him here and they move ahead we head now to the home half of inning number three it’s the Nationals three and the Angels nothing set for the bottom of the third so in now for the Angels number 51 [Music] that one’s in there strike one no ball one strike ball and that one upstairs and a big swing and a miss two two runs it up to 96 to record the punch out i’m not saying it it wasn’t a strike or you know it was a ball whatever but just the location with that velocity it’s hard enough even if the velocity is not great but that velocity that location tip your cap so here’s Wade now that misses the zone that’s ball one just missed close but called the ball and now 3 and 0 well I would expect in this three-0 count you’re taking all the way see if it’ll walk you

clearly taking all the way there in that three-0 count it was a cookie right down the middle and they’ll do it again one out base is empty strike three and that’s two in a row this guy will throw any pitch in any count 3-2 he goes off speed gets the out christian [Music] christian Moore the next to hit for the Angels hit on the ground to the right side and that’s just foul [Music] next offering is in for a strike that one’s upstairs ball one
that’s a really good job of laying off the O2 high fast ball is going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he’s behind in the count and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again foul ball still a one and two count swinging a miss that one in the dirt adams down to first with it that completes the strikeout inning over back here at Angel Stadium out of the fourth digging in it’s the speedy outfielder Dalon
Lyall and that one off the outside edge well these Nats showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one it’s not just the three runs they’ve already scored on top of that they forced this starter to throw more pitches than he wanted to at this point of the game and that pitch count is impactful because if they can keep making him work hard out there it may force the bullpen to get involved a little sooner rather than later

jacob Young digging in for the Nationals a single and a run scored and a walk this is important if he can go one two three here will be a very positive sign for him and for his team and a swing and a miss there man he really sells the change up with that arm action strike two [Music] rolled over to third reangho slings it across nats go down one two three so no runs no hits no errors and no one left we’re midway in the fourth it’s the Nationals three and the Angels nothing back in Anaheim John Shabi and Chris Singleton with you and leading off the bottom of the fourth Zack
Neto come on and that’s in for a strike 0 and one
you know these Angels as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate they’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs can they turn that around and stay within the zone we’ll see but I think they have to and that one upstairs ball one make it four strikeouts in a row just cruising along no just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there and I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything i just think he was flat out frozen did not expect that location in my opinion ranifo
in the box now no balls in a strike oh he’s looking great so far it helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes he might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up the Nationals leading by three we’re here in the bottom of the fourth gets a piece and it stays 0 and two and that’s outside one ball two strikes and now the count is even outside he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked stays alive on the ground right side and it goes just fouled
flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his bat down just enough to make contact with that pitch keep the at bat alive well that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the wall very gritty
and now batting Mike Trout he was a strikeout victim his first time
great speed and great power a great athlete quite simply on the inside corner for a strike he’s like Mike Trout you figure whatever you put in his hand whether it’s a bat whether it’s a golf club whether it’s a basketball he can do it and get it done and a rare talent so much fun to watch abrams off balance beat there’s one and that’s two so they go quietly there we’ve played four it’s the Nationals three and the Angels nothing and we’ve got ourselves a pitching change jack Coach still pretty early in the ball game so this bullpen has some work ahead of him best case scenario might be if he can come in here and get several quick outs kind of bridge the gap that starter left for him abrams lays off down low as he digs in for the third time doublebarreled action in the bullpen jos Soraniano preparing to come on if needed bachmann getting loose as well hammered down the right side but foul the 1-1 is fouled off let’s go fights that one away still one and two fouled off and they’ll do it again and that one lifted in the air center field one down [Music] up now for Washington james Wood he’s 0 for one
this kid picked up in a trade a lot was offered and given to get him but he’s got a real high ceiling and first offering is fouled off one down base is empty misses outside and it’s one and one
one strike next offering is fouled back two two this one lifted in the air left field ward makes the grab for the second out two down base is empty luis Garcia the next to hit singled and scored back in the first he’s one for two just missed [Music] chopped out in front of the plate sends it to first and that is the inning nationals go quietly but they lead it three nothing and welcome back to the ballpark ready to go for the last half of the inning leading off Taylor Ward [Music] ball one no strikes
you know these Angels just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one just one base runner to this point and it’s not exactly early anymore they have guys in this lineup capable of sparking something but it just hasn’t happened for him yet the next offering misses two and one misses just off the outside edge i think that was a strike 3-2 broken bat and it’s popped up to first and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth
got to feel pretty good for the pitcher absolutely saw him off bat explodes
and then he makes an easy play on it pretty satisfying if you’re out there on the ball here’s the catcher to hit logan Ohappy grounded out his first time fast in for a strike and it’s 0 and one oh I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning anything after that a hitter or two is bonus but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line off the mark there and that is ball one just missed two balls one strike close one doesn’t get the call and now three and one the Halos yet to pick up a hit here spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another Foul ball and it remains a full count keeps the attack going with a foul ball and a foul ball he stays alive and down on strikes make it seven strikeouts for him next is the designated hitter Joe Adele fly to center his first time he’s 0 for one and that’s through there for a strike action in the pen down there trevor Williams looks to be getting ready for Dave Martinez parker also getting ready two down nobody on last half of inning number five they tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away on its way to the corner nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball
looking sharp just a strike away from five shutout innings and that’s outside really good take especially with two strikes [Music] shoots a line drive single into right center and that keeps the inning going that was maybe even a little off the plate but no problem getting the barrel to it man he does such a nice job and that’s what you’re supposed to do with the pitch in that location and now they’ve got some speed on first so we’ll see if they try to get him into motion manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound cole Henry will depart and that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today gave him some length back with a new arm after this now on the mound for the Nationals Trevor Williams he’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season so this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate two outs runner at first now it’s the switch hitting outfielder that one catches the corner for a strike adele off of first with two away swing and a miss and that is strike two more and more guys are looking to slug regardless of the count in this situation we’ll keep a close eye on his approach two outs up the middle garcia they take the force out inning over angels strand one they trail it here 3 nothing and we’re back and now the DH Nathaniel Low Low 29 years old and they went out and made a trade for him last season that one pushed foul out of play off to the left you know these Nationals really impressed me with the quality of their at bats in this one and it’s been fun getting a chance to see him go to work they really made that opposing starter work in this one ran his pitch count up and now they’ve got an opportunity to continue making things difficult on the bullpen that one close and the count is one and two
and no they haven’t broken through in a big way in the runs column but with the way they’re grinding out at bats it definitely feels like there’s potential for more coming swings and hits one in the air out towards right field moving under it and out number one on the grab [Music] now batting the first Josh Bell
josh Bell at the plate now foul ball there and ball one base is empty one away and we’re the top half of the sixth and there’s a strike on the outside corner this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today fouls it off still one and two swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field and they have their first hit since the third inning washington next to hit for the Nats Brady House went down looking on three pitches last time let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here
in the dirt to second but way too late safe there bell into scoring position on the wild pitch and there goes the double play possibility
can’t imagine he’s too happy with that one on the mound just one pitch after giving up the single he basically turns it into a double and another ball movement in the bullpen hector Nerys the veteran right-hander appears to be loosening up burke warming up as well man at second
that’s too low and that’s ball three
three balls no strike and ball four to a board definitely lost the handle during that sequence four pitches for the walk and that last one
didn’t even threaten the zone catcher might want to go talk to him
two on one out dalen Lyle now at the plate who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts there’s the strike always tough to turn two on a speedster like this it’s even harder with him coming out of the left-handed batters box you really need something to hit hard on the ground that they can handle to turn two quickly that one fouled off can’t connect on the curve ball struck him out but they’ve had a great plan of attack for him tonight i mean finding all the holes in his swing and his approach just frustrating for him up there you strike out a guy three times in a game i think that guy’s got to go back and really study some video with his hitting coach figure out how they’re beating him make this adjustment really quick because Word will get around the league in a hurry
and here’s the catcher Riley Adams that one finds the zone and one first and second two down swing and a miss and that’s strike two ball one there just missing there two balls two strikes to count
that one called just inside I think and on the mound he’s trying to get a little bit of an explanation doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it though but he clearly thought it clipped the corner two on two outs spoils that one and it remains two and two on the ground to the left and foul ball two on two outs fouled off the plate they’ll do it again pitcher having a pretty tough time getting that swing and miss third foul ball in a row and it remains two and two
also really good at bat what I like about this guy his bat stays in the zone for a long time gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches right side has a beat on it he’s got it and that is that no runs a hit two left 891 scheduled in the bottom of the six it’s the Nationals three and the Angels nothing bottom of the sixth inning and here’s the first baseman Lamont Wade Jr that’s a ball went with the sweeper the Nationals have some action going in the pen jose a Ferrer looks to be getting ready for Dave Martinez brixie the right-hander loosening up as well line drive abrams tosses the first leadoff man retired in the sixth [Music] now here is Christian Moore he’s 0 for one angeles right through there for a strike
it’s been tough for the offense so far but you can’t get frustrated you got to find a way to shake it off go up there and relax that’s the only way you’re going to be able to put runs up on the board one down base is empty and that’s in for a strike 02 that one the other way and that’s a base hit back to the top of the Angels lineup zack Neto the next to hit for the Angels that’s off the mark and it’s one and0 now this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it’s really important getting back into this ball game and a foul ball moore leads off first with one away all right slice to right and foul ball on the ground could be two the throw to second

just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game jacob Young digging in for the Nationals one for two there’s a strike looks like he sacrificed to pitch right down the middle for tracking and timing some good hitters will do that foul ball still 0 and two to the right side and that’s just foul that one almost got him ball no here’s a two- two swinging a ground ball up the middle throw pulls him off the bag and he’s saved
boo he doesn’t care how he does it he just wants to get on base and when he does that puts him in a position to do some damage put some pressure on the defense as well his wheels are truly a weapon out there
back to the top of the order here’s CJ Abrams to hit slider clips the corner hammered on a line to the left base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out

comes through with the RBI not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play that’s a team at bat right there nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep so up next Luis Garcia and the first pitch misses for ball one and that one fouled off no outs runners at first and second that one’s in there one and two good job to fight that one off foul ball still a one and two count
his eyes got big he saw that change up way out in front better to pull it than to get jammed on something off speed like that now one missed two balls
first and second here no outs gets a piece and stays alive that misses the zone and it’s three and two popped up to the left into foul ground reo makes the grab one down oh that was a pitch you got to crush unbelievable that he missed it right there and I’m telling you he is going to be frustrated with himself until his next at bat
here’s Nathaniel Low had a breaking ball misses outside delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 bears is swinging a miss one ball two strikes ground ball right side could be two slings to second over the first safe [Music] so digging in Josh Bell [Music] and that is out of play this to center field it’s going to fall for a hit in comes the run from third it’s an RBI single and the lead is up to five
picks himself up an RBI pitch was in and off the plate so hard to do anything with a pitch in that location but somehow he got the barrel to it and hit it well pretty amazing
now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen rock Burke done for the night and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now
Hector Nerys takes over on the mound i think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard just doesn’t have the same intensity to it but he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score first and second two outs house digs in now first pitch misses 10 two outs now a highf fly ball out to left center ward nabs it and that is that so it’s two runs on four hits no errors and a couple left on midway in inning number seven and it’s time to stretch it’s the Nationals five and the Angels nothing [Music] set for the last half of the seventh and now it’s switch hitting third baseman Luis Ranifo Williams back to work that’s in for a strike that one ran inside almost got him [Music] fights that one away still one and two out to short zips it to first and they get the leadoff hitter in the seventh
good fade and sinking action of that change up got that hitter to roll over wow
here’s Mike Trout 0 for two in this one
he is quite an athlete i mean you look around the other sports basketball football you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports too just missed and he can’t come up with it saved at first no play we’ll see how they score this
late in the game with the offense trying to play catchup they’re looking for any momentum they can get any kind of opportunity to get back in this game and an error can certainly do that let’s see if that turns into something right here
one down and now it’s the Angels cleanup batter Taylor Ward that clips the inside corner for a strike
trap the runner at first with one gone in the inning that one ripped but foul [Music] that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was that missed by a lot
yeah the count one and two in the dirt throw to second not in time he’s there easily and now a man into scoring position well that right there erases the chance at the inning ending double play so good job on the bases to move up on the wild pitch changes the outlook of the inning in a pretty big way swings through it and that’s a strike out
boi just ran out of patience there he took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes but that time chased outside the zone logan O’Hap the next to hit for the Angels out towards left center wood moving under this one and that is that angels leave one still looking at that five nothing deficit we’re in the top of the eighth and now up for Washington dalon Lyle

two pretty nasty sliders to get this hitter in an 02 count if you’re up there at the plate you got to look up in the zone and spit on anything that’s down swing and a ground ball base hit right field so a man aboard now with one away up now for Washington Jacob Young there’s the strike [Music] come on Angels here we go into center and that’ll fall for a base hit and now to a board now batting now it’s the shortstop cj Abrams and that misses ball one right through there for a strike one ball one strike in the air center field trout settles under it two down so first and second with two outs james Wood digging in for the Nationals and that is downstairs and that’s ball one two on two outs that clips the corner adams the lead runner at second young on first with two down on the ground of first he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it two left on last half of the eighth coming up it’s the Nationals five and the Angels nothing back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Ryan Lutis
and he’s got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes attacking these hitters now it’s the DH Joe Adele joe Adel first pitch doesn’t find the zone there’s a strike

well this is no secret that slider is going to be his go-to pitch everyone in the ballpark knows it it’s a massive part of his arsenal and he’ll throw it a lot and in pretty much any count any situation and he’s going to look to punch guys out as well i tell you what the effectiveness of that slider is always a big key for him
and here’s the DH for Washington nathaniel Low slider for a strike that misses and it’s a ball and a strike way out front for strike two
clearly was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider hey you can’t fault him for his commitment now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes

well that’s a really good take right there and that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on a TE you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with not easy to lay off but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance this is again five in a row maybe losing command a little bit after the walk next pitch not even close well the laid off man gets on you want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense hopefully the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two
get on the ground up the middle that’s a base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out luis Rangifo the next to hit for the Angels in the air left field no trouble here puts it away for the out and there’s one down now backout [Music] now Trout gets a chance to hit 0 for three in this one he’s someone that you might not describe as having elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game that’s outside ball one
this guy’s definitely a plus runner but what I love about him is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break it’s guys like that even though they don’t have the elite speed the fact that they’re consistent with it they make moves on the base paths the one-1 is fouled off just off the outside part of the plate next pitch misses way outside runners at first and second with one gone here in the last half of inning number nine and they’ll do it again [Music] swaying and a ball popped in the air and it falls moore around third he will score and it’s an RBI single it’s 51 that’s a good job right there you got two strikes on you just got to battle here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot ryan Lutis won’t go any further tonight and as he heads for the dugout we’ll take a quick break new arm on the mound when we get back kyle Finnean comes out trying to close it out
well he’s struggled quite a bit so this is another opportunity to get on the right track he’s given up more than one hit per any pitch so far this season here in the bottom of the ninth one out ward will hit next 0 for three with two ground outs and a strike out right through there for a strike two on one out and that one is inside ball one swinging a foul out of play cuts on it and misses that’s a strike out angels with only one out left boo gets talked about a lot but a good high fast ball in a two strike situation it’s just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate having a good grip on the baseball those high fast balls they kind of look like to the hitter that they’re rising even though they’re not but they’re not decreasing in velocity and spin rate so very difficult to get the barrel on it oh in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike this could end it
swing and a miss struck him out and that is the ball game sometimes road trips can be tough you’re away from your family but when you can win silence that opposing crowd it makes things just a little bit better makes the road trip just a little bit shorter 51 is how it ends for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show I’m John Shami thanks for joining us
