Chris Paul would be another Mavericks target at $5.7 million, but there is a growing belief that Paul — after starting all 82 games last season in San Antonio as a 39-year-old newcomer to the Spurs — is determined to play closer to his home base in Los Angeles if he indeed comes back for a 21st season.

  1. He’s been with the warriors and clips. The lakers and kings are the only options 😭

  2. Liked him a lot on the Warriors. But all we have to offer is the MLE and backup spot. I think I remember him mentioning being closer to family in his first press conference too. Not sure if that was just him being nice.

  3. come back to phoenix my guy. you are the perfect backup PG and mentor for our suddenly out of nowhere young core. It worked once. Lets make it work again but finish the job this time

  4. CP3 was productive for the Spurs last year and played all 82 games for the second time in his career, he’s not an all-star player anymore but as far as those middle of the pack guys who help you win and won’t be why you lose as long as you don’t ask him to be one of your best players there are worse options

  5. MLPS lakers would gladly take you, please don’t google maps the distance from LA.

  6. Chris Paul with JJ would make an unlikely, but potentially amazing coach, vet combo for the up and coming youth of the Lakers.

  7. He and JJ are good friends they used to spend family time in the Hamptons with the kids

  8. Leaving out the “there is a growing belief that” that preceded the post title is nasty work lol. Changes what is a speculative guess to a declaratory statement.

  9. Probably the Clippers

No idea why he would want to play behind Luka. They are not a good fit at all.

  10. I would love for him to go to the Clippers. It would be cool so see him play for the Clippers again.

  11. Luka’s been losing weight so cp3 doesn’t make fun of his man boobs when he gets here.

  12. Suns need you CP3… without Paul the Suns have missed the playoffs 11 times and was the 6th seed the only other time they made the playoffs since Steve Nash left in 2010. CP3 was the reason the Suns made the finals and won 64 games the next season.

  13. “Come home”- More than half of the Pacific division. Even Lakers fans are probably like “No literally come home”

  14. If the Lakers end up having to part with Reaves (because some other team offers too much money, or because they have to trade him to get a competent center), CP3 is a completely acceptable choice as a backup PG. He can play ~15 minutes per game (when Luka rests) and lead the offense in those minutes

  15. Hell, for the minimum I’d take a 40 year old Chris Paul off the bench, because it’s hard to imagine him getting starters minutes on either team right now.

  16. I don’t understand people telling Chris Paul to retire. He’s a free agent, he’s allowed to state a preference to play for a team closer to home. Thats literally what free agency allows a player to do. He isn’t asking for a trade or asking for a team to let him out of a contract, he’s just making it known what his preferred destinations are. He wasn’t a scorer for the Spurs but he still averaged over 7 assists a game which was 7th best in the league.
