Sad about Brindley tho

  1. But we gave Colorado cap space 🙄
Brindley is an elite superstar that we should have held on to 🙄

Agree. Doesn’t look bad. Not a big blockbuster trade that we all wanted but getting incrementally better.

  2. Lot of emotional responses yesterday. With a day to cool off, I’m warming up to the moves

  3. Jackson Smith was one of the best pure skaters in this draft. 6’4 defenseman that’s plays a 200ft game that can fly? Sign me up.

  4. I have warmed up significantly to the trade. I

think the cap dump for COL doesn’t matter to us unless we make it to the SCF by some absolute miracle. We got a couple decent vet players for a couple dart board shots and a prospect who was going to struggle to make our lineup anytime soon. I think it is a better move than it felt like on the surface.

  5. I agree with OP. Adding Coyle and Wood were solid moves. Coyle solidifies the 3rd center role and can move up for injuries. Coyle gives us flexibility with Sillinger. Can try him at wing or 4th center. I love Kuraly but maybe it’s time to be replaced. Wood had a down year last year but I love whenever you can have a 4th liner that can get you 12-15 goals. Coyle’s size is also not to be discounted. Look at what the Panthers are doing. It’s not the end of the world if Sillinger is the 4th center. The best teams can roll four lines and always have a chance to score or cave a team in in their own defensive zone for an extended period of time and just get them gassed. It has a cumulative effect over the course of a game and especially a playoff series.

  6. Happy with both of our picks. Only disappointed about brindley. As long as we get a player or two during free agency we’ll be alright

  7. In fairness, if you’re gonna do that then Jericek should be on our side. I still love what we did though. Great great day.

  8. With all the negativity yesterday, the transactions make me feel good. Coyle is a great addition. Maybe Don can get a matching offer opportunity w Fabbro and Provie?

CBJ don’t need skill, they need jam. Why give up a Voronkov, when he’s such a unique style of player that is rare?

  9. A trade of bits. We got a bit better with that trade. We just gave up a bit more than we should’ve.

  10. Coyle was definitely injured last year and had a pretty rough playoff didn’t he?

I like the move but hoping he can continue his previous form. If he can be a 40-50 point guy that’s money.

  11. I would’ve been fine with just Coyle but getting Wood long term and giving up Brindley hurts. I was also very big on Logan Hensler but Jackson Smith is probably better. I only wonder if he ends up being a bottom pair LHD or if he plays on the right side assuming him and Mateychuk both pan out.

  12. Zach and Fabbro are both only 27. A defensive top 4 of Zach-Fabbro Smith-Mateychuk for 3-5 seasons once Smith is called up has me beyond hyped

  13. I like that we didn’t overpay the Isles for another offensive d-man. And yes, that we didn’t break up the Goalsheviks.

I like that Don recognizes size matters. As much as I liked Brindley, we can’t continue to be *filled* with guys who are “small” (but completely normal heighted outside the context of a high-contact sport).

I like Smith for his play and the bit of personality we’ve seen. And it doesn’t hurt that he grew up going to Flames games, watching Johnny.

I like that in a fairly weak draft, we went for a goalie a bit out of left field. It’s always a gamble with goalies, seems like a solid chance to take, given all the factors. The size piece will be interesting here, though.

And I like that everyone is ragging on that draft format 😆

  14. Not a fan of Waddells moves to start this off-season.

Couldn’t move either pick for a win now piece, both drafted players are 3-4 years away.

Gave up a metric fuck ton for Coyle and Wood. Added almost 8 million in cap between the 2. Still hasnt re-signed Fabbro or Provorov.
