As much as I love Don, he has historically seemed really averse to making the big trade.
Sometimes you need a little overpay to get big swings over the line, and that’s something Waddell just seems unwilling to do.
Hronek and Andersson are still out there.
It feels strange to say, but I was most concerned about that #20 pick. If Ravensbergen is there, I feel like he would be a home run pick for us.
And if Don was offering Vronk, it tells me he is confident he’ll land one of the big UFA fish in the top six, which would have pushed Vronk down to a role below his skill level.
Still feel good. Dobson would have helped for sure, but feels there are better plays out there to make.
Honestly I’m more mad that he’s going to Montreal then I am that we missed out
If they really wanted Voronkov and took Heineman over him thats pretty bad on the Isles part.

As much as I wanted Dobson with Werenski and Mateychuk already here I feel like a Rasmus Anderson makes more sense long term. Especially with having to pay our young forwards in a few years that’s a lot of money to have committed on the backend.

Portzline is reporting looks like there was a metro tax on the deal. They wanted both 1st, Big Boss and another asset. Sometimes you have to know when to fold and Don, has much as I hate it, probably played this correctly
