uh uh great man thank you so much for having me always enjoy i love the uh the music at the beginning of the pod here it’s a very regal brings you got like the Pirates of the Caribbean feel so yeah excited man because uh even though we’re not technically in season uh it’s never a bad time to talk some Buccaneer football absolutely and we’re getting closer and closer to training camp uh we’re under a month until it uh till it really gets going so you know just kind of counting down the days somewhat and we had some juicy football news today doesn’t really impact the Buccaneers it impacts them a little bit but of course uh the big news coming out earlier today a blockbuster trade everyone keeps saying whether it’s Ian Rapaort or Adam Shfter but the Steelers have acquired Jaylen Ramsay who once upon a time there was discussions about should the Bucks go after Jaylen Ramsay but he ends up going to Pittsburgh along with John Smith the Steelers send Minka Fitzpatrick over to the Miami Dolphins so uh they will see uh Minka Fitzpatrick when they play the Dolphins later on um in the season but they do avoid Jaylen Ramsey now however they will see Jaylen Ramsey Aaron Rogers and company when they have a joint training camp practice against the Steelers in August doesn’t really impact the Bucks for the regular season but Jay because it’s big football news we got plenty of Bucks to talk about uh what were your thoughts in reaction to this uh this football news that we got today well it was funny because the first time I saw the trade I I didn’t see anything about Minka Fitzpatrick i just saw that it was Jaylen Ramsey going to the Steelers and I was like what’s the compensation what’s the compensation and I didn’t see it and then all of a sudden I’m like all right okay this what Pittsburgh is trying to do they’re going all in you know Metaf and Rogers and now they go get Jaylen Ramsey it’s like oh Minka’s going back the other way and like oh wow all right Mink’s going back to Miami um you know Pittsburgh really is going for it there’s no excuses i I think that’s the biggest thing that stands out to me is you know they clearly had all of their cards on the table that Aaron Rogers even before he signed with them uh was going to be their guy because there was no way with all the different pieces that they have especially you know making the trade for DK and all the veterans that they have on the defensive side of the ball Hayward Watt and then at that time Minka there was no way that they were going into their season with Mason Rudolph and they quickly pivoted in the offseason away from Russell Wilson away away from Justin Fields and ironically enough both those guys are now going to be starting uh for the Jets and Giants respectively uh and now they’re looking at this entire situation as all right this is another one of these moves these last ditch efforts to put a winning product on the field now there’s probably a great chance that this is the only year that Aaron Rogers is going to be under center for the Steelers
there’s no more excuses and this is fascinating because I think Mike Tomlin is one of in one of the most intriguing spots in in all of professional sports because there’s no doubt if Mike Tomlin leaves Pittsburgh he probably would be on the sideline the least amount of time out of any coach we’ve ever seen because of the respect that he has around the league um amongst everybody players coaches front office personnel but you got to be 100% you got to be honest when you look at the situation like he hasn’t had a ton of success in the recent past and you look at the inability to be able to get fast that first playoff game uh just hasn’t been the same since Ben Rothosberger retired it’s unique because you talk to certain people in Pittsburgh and you’ll get a you know a stronger segment and I think this fan that part of the fan base is growing that where you know it’s not like you don’t respect the guy it’s not you don’t think it’s a you know you’re a great coach but sometimes you need a different voice sometimes you need to go in a different direction and in my for my money the best coach in all of professional sports of all time Scotty Bowman you know to be able to win cups with four different with three or four different teams yeah scotty what’s the key to your success and he’s going he’s he said you know knowing when it’s time to go and these grown men need a different voice so he’s able to go to Montreal and able to go to Pittsburgh and able to go to Detroit you know three different teams and win Stanley Cups with them but he knew when his time was up and you just have to wonder like this there’s no more excuses if they don’t make a deep run in the AFC uh I mean you got to start looking at Mike Tomlin are you really going to be able to make this work i think it’s going to be awfully tough for the Steelers and the Dolphins right you don’t have one of those big three four quarterbacks i think you’re going to be looking behind the eight-ball even after this move I still think both those teams are probably looking up at Buffalo looking up at uh Kansas City and then you have the other wild cards in the conference as well yeah I don’t know how much better really the Dolphins get out of this like you you see Taiki um sorry um Tyreek Hill we’re going to talk about Taiki later Tai Smith but uh you know you see Tyreek Hill posting the Fresh Prince meme where they everyone moved out of the house and Will Smith’s just like kind of looking around and yeah I don’t think Miami gets any better from this i’m curious for Pittsburgh though like they were already pretty solid on defense and if you add Jaylen Ramsay with Minka Fitzpatrick it looks pretty damn good fact that you chip out Minka Fitzpatrick I kind of feel like you’re almost in the same spot defensively i I do agree they kind of have to go all in and it’s very interesting because I feel like you’re absolutely right with Tomlin it’s like he’s been there for a while but they haven’t really grown or progressed in quite a bit and we’re kind of seeing it right now with Todd BS a little bit now Todd just got the extension but when does it become a time where like just the the run-of-the-mill same kind of plateau over and over again just isn’t enough anymore i mean we’ve seen in Tampa Tony Dunie kept getting to a certain spot and then they said “All right enough is enough.” And John Gruden came in and they won i’m curious if that’ll happen with Tomlin this year but let me ask you about Todd BS though and that’s he just got the extension his there’s no worry about his job security this upcoming year but let’s just say in the next two years how far does Todd BS have to go before the Bucks decide oh well we have so much talent on this team we need someone else to get it over the hump or do you believe Todd BS is the guy to get it done
well as we’ve spoken about I think here on this podcast and my podcast I was one of the few people that did not want to be so quick to throw Todd BS out um and and to make that transition to Liam Cohen uh but with that being said I don’t know if I agree with your statement there i don’t know if just giving him extension really quelches any of the fears or kind of you know quiets anything down nor does it I think a long-term stamp of approv approval for the future i put out a poll uh for my podcast
i saw that
80% of the fan base were not thrilled with that extension didn’t love it didn’t like it that I think everybody was cool with the whole Jason Light thing but people still are not buying stock when it comes to Todd BS they really need to see improvement in his management his game management his clock management um and he has you know been a lot more open-minded the last couple years and we give him a lot of credit for that but you know it’s almost the curse and we see it a lot in the NBA if you’re in the NBA and you win coach of the year you in the NBA you win coach of the year in the next 18 months you’re probably going to lose your job so I don’t necessarily look at this extension as much of a uh you know removal of him off of the warm or the hot seat because if the Buccaneers underperform in a big way people are going to be calling for Todd B’s job after this season no doubt about it and I I I I think that there’s a certain amount of people when you look at Todd they say “All right with the roster that this team has constructed offensively defensively the strides that certain players have grown.” Anything less than an NFC Championship birth this year I think will be wildly disappointing and Matt and Matt I think there’s people that still won’t be happy with that and will say it’s going to take a Super Bowl appearance i still think there’s people out there that say they’re not going to approve of Top Bulls until they win a Super Bowl so you need to see that incremental improvement year by year by year and you’re right i mean you kind of look at it and Tomlin’s kind of in like whatever year let’s just say
year a thousand but I’m just saying as far as like I’m not saying what year he’s in as far as like how many years he’s been coaching with the Steelers but kind of in this show me type year let’s say Tomlin’s in year 10 of that bs is in kind of year two or three of that of like all right Todd you’ve gotten better you’ve made changes to your defensive staff you’re gonna bring this guy from Jacksonville to help you out with the game management now what what steps can you make because listen Todd BS is a defensive guy and I’ve said this about every coach in any sport if you hang your hat on one thing and your team does not do that well your time is very short same thing with Lovey Smith you’re a defensive guy and you can’t defend I don’t care if you’re not the defensive coordinator you are a defensive guy i’m a baseball coach and I pride myself on little things being able to move the baseball and bunt and play good defense if my kids can’t get down a bunt and they’re throwing the ball all over the yard do you think people are going to keep me around a coach it’s just not going to happen so for me Todd BS I I don’t look at this extension as any removal of the warmer hot seat because there is still a big- time wait and see approach from a large number of fans in Bucks Nation bucks have to really show up and show out this year and uh like I told you there’s still even if they go to the NFC Championship even if they go to the Super Bowl there’s still people that are going to be you know not Todd B fans
i don’t think there’s a question that uh the Bucks have the talent this year to make it to the NFC Championship game and and and even the Super Bowl but yeah a couple things they have to avoid this year in my opinion and part of it is Todd BS but I do I will say I like that Todd BS has been so different this off seasonason whether it was moving Larry Foot back to outside linebackers coach hiring Zack Beastline from Jacksonville to help him with the in-game management which we’ve talked about a ton about not going for two against Kansas City and the timeouts and everything like that two other big things for me really are the fact that each season the Bucks start out great that’s awesome i don’t want that to change i hope they start out 1 and0 again like they have since the tenure of Todd Bulls but then they go through this three four game losing streak and it’s really put them behind the eight-ball at times where they’re trying to climb out of a hole versus like being ahead of the game and and really squashing their opponents and NFC South opponents so that’s the other thing for me is I don’t want the Bucks going into the last week of the season being like we have to win to punch our ticket into the postseason i think for me a big thing is win the division in week 16 or week 17 or clinch that division spot because this team is too good to be toiling around and playing with their food going up against Carolina late in the season or New Orleans halfway through the season and not already have their ticket punch because they’re too good of a team so let me ask you this Jay with all that said and everything you said about the poll I I found it very fascinating with the fans that there’s so much disapproval of of Todd BS you said you expect them to go to the NFC Championship game if you’re the Glazers what what is your threshold as far as Todd BS like can he get away with a second round appearance or does it have to be NFC Championship game in your own eyes
yeah well I I let me just preface by saying that’s what a lot of the other people were saying that they needed to see the NFC Championship game or or beyond and I want before I answer I want to kind of make a note of what you just said the last two years because you look at the middle of the season and you know on one hand you look at yeah the mid-season swoon but also in both those years they were able to come back so as much as we want to discredit Todd for the middle of the season uh mishaps you got to also give him credit on the other side here’s the other thing too we looked at the schedules before the season and we knew that that was the toughest part of the schedule so I don’t know if either one of those happened like out of nowhere we looked at that and said “Oh my gosh they’re playing last year the last four teams standing from the previous season and then oh yeah you lose God when you lose Evans.” You very true yeah and then you go to Kansas City and you take the champs to overtime regardless of how it worked out but like that was I I thought one of the best games the Buccaneers played as far as showing heart and metal and and attrition like I like that was badass that game against Kansas City where they lost i was like that’s a game to be proud of because you look at go back and look at the roster look at the guys that were playing in that game and I think as a Buccaneer fan you’re like hey man this team is not going to give up when things don’t go their way and we see that all across the National Football League where teams give up late in the game hell the Buccaneers did it to the Chargers remember when they went cross country and they they took Herbert at the end of the game because they had nothing they had nothing for him they had nothing for that Buccaneers defense i do though when I look at if I’m the Glazers they are looking for continuity they don’t like mid-season coaching changes they don’t want to have to dabble in all this stuff they want to just make sure they It’s almost like the old rotisserie ovens from the the ‘9s just set it and forget it like let them do their thing and and stay out of sight stay out of mind um I I but I do think they want to see progress and I think an NFC Championship game appearance is where they need to be and I I I think so too i I don’t want to see any excuses this year when it comes to the Buccaneers there’s high hopes a lot of people look at this team like they could be a factor in the NFC they address some of the big holes that they had primarily on defense um and and I look at them and I say “All right go out and show it now because everything is going to be in your favor you got continuity with the offensive coordinator with Gazard being in the room at least last year so it’s not a complete overhaul of the offense you know you have stability on the offensive line which teams are still looking for right now
and now you’re addressing the secondary which really had trouble uh
you know they really had trouble going yeah i mean just being healthy but again your depth gets tested last year you lose Bryce Hall so early on in the season and then after those guys you know with Dean McCullum not being 100% the entire season you you start looking at the Hazes of the world and you’re like these guys are you know middle end of the season you’re looking at guys that should be standout special teamers and they’re your guys you know guarding the wide receiver ones or the other team and I think the pass rush I mean the pass rush has to be one of the most important things that they improve on this season and you look at it if just two or three of those things on the defensive side of the ball Matt hit
Yeah this team is going to be 10 11 12 win team just because even if the offense takes a little bit of a step back whether it’s adjustments to Gizard Chris Godwin not being there some of these young guys having to learn the offense Bucky regressing a little bit which I don’t know is going to happen like even then just playing the game the right way and doing the right things and having that familiarity i just think the floor is higher for this Bucks team than probably one of you know I I don’t even know if you could say this about the Brady team maybe the one right after the Super Bowl but there was still such a big unknown when it comes to the Buccaneers with during the Brady years we didn’t know like nobody thought that they were going to win the Super Bowl in year one we thought we were going to see incremental right make the playoffs NFC Championship game let’s culminate this three-year one with the Super Bowl and I think that type of incremental process that’s what we need to see this year from the Buccaneers if BS can start you know slowly coming off of that warm seat yeah all great points i still attest that the 2021 Bucks team was the best Bucks team when Brady was there now yeah obviously winning the Super Bowl is the ultimate goal so the 2020 team got to remember but damn that 2021 team uh was so damn good we are on with Jay Wretcher from the Jay Wretcher podcast you can follow him on social media Jay Wretcher and everybody make sure you subscribe to his podcast the Jay Wretcher podcast on YouTube it’s Jretcher10 so Jay Wretcher just with the number next to it before we get into some of the X factors on offense and defense
when you’re coaching Jay are you more of a Todd PS or Bruce type of coach
i’ve changed my friend i’ve changed i was very uh animated uh early on in my career um because I thought that was the way to do it to be able to show a lot of energy a lot of passion um and to have people know that you care right uh I grew up my grandfathers were both in the military my one grandfather was a big Bobby Knight fan you know Bobby Knight throwing the chair across the court um but I learned over time i mean I also got into coaching very young like I got into coaching when I was 20 yeah so I was 20 when I first went down here so wow damn near half my life and when I grew up I also coached my brother and sister’s little league teams uh I was a referee i was an umpire as well as playing the sport so I always had that you know I was always looking at it from that perspective um and I I that’s why I kind of laugh and chuckle when these people talk about you know Todd BS and his demeanor on the sideline like that’s a big deal like it has absolutely nothing to do with it and I’m on the field again now i was at Clemson last week you know I’m at all these different colleges and seeing all the and these people that are losing their mind and yelling at players and I’m just like this has nothing to do with the growth of these young student athletes you’re not putting them in a position to succeed you’re yelling at them you’re being reactive instead of proactive so for these guys that want their coach to be a freaking lunatic yelling on the sideline yelling behind the bench like we have three coaches here with very similar demeanor very even kill guys with Kevin Cash John Cooper and Tobles they’re wellrespected coaches even more important wellrespected men leaders in our community and guys that are pretty damn good coaches so uh I’ve kind you know I I t take a lot more pride into my dad always said don’t be reactive pre uh be proactive kind of taking some notes and being able to talk to people on a different level because uh the one thing that I think a lot of people have comm’s knowledge are the same right i don’t want to say same but when you get to a certain level whatever level you’re at high school college pro like there’s a similar knowledge across the board for people that are at that level but to me what sets people apart are their ability to communicate master levels of communication how do you disseminate your message to your players in a way that they can not only ingest that type of uh information but also utilize it to make them a better player how do you put them in a position to succeed and that’s what makes the good players great and you can talk about that in any level in any sport so that’s one thing that I’ve really tried to do getting back into coaching is I want to be able to coach the people that really are struggling these guys that are like they can’t make their team what can I do how can I show them how can I bring them to a point where that they’ve learned in a way that they’ve never learned before um and try to you know achieve the best version of themselves on the baseball field
yeah I think that’s really well put um I I think there’s times when to flip out but you’re flipping out more on like a referee or you know an umpire or whatever versus like a play a player or person themselves like even like when Bruce Aries is flipping out it’s usually at the ref he’s not exactly you know he wasn’t screaming at Jamus he certainly wasn’t screaming at Tom Brady or Mike Evans or guys like that um and I always like I understand why people will get mad when Todd like doesn’t freak out at something but I also think it was just kind of bad camera timing something would happen it would go to polls and he’s chilling but I always like what Todd said about he’s like “Listen these are high stakes moments there there’s a lot going on like other people are panicking so I can’t show that I’m panicking or I can’t get us a stupid penalty by flipping out or whatever the case may be.” So I always understood his calm cool collected demeanor when it really came to it and speaking of Mike Evans I’m curious how he is as a coach because he was just mentioning that uh he’s coaching his daughter’s basketball team now and he’s the head coach and everything like that i hope he’s calm because I it’s just what happens is and I’ve seen this before because I’ve coached with and against a lot of former pro baseball players and I just had this comment I just made this comment the other day in uh in Clearwater you know some of the wor people talk about daddy ball and people talk about like these dads that don’t know what the hell they’re talking about listen former pro athletes are just as bad they really are because they they don’t know how to be able to diss again it’s about communication what they were able to do a lot of times it’s not like these guys didn’t work hard but a lot of their stuff it was God-given talent right you’re a big guy you can swing it well you were fast and if you don’t have that kind of calm you know interior to be able to talk to these young players then they’re not going to be successful like you can’t go out there and hit the ball for them so yeah I’m I’m a firm believer with Todd of you know when things are going haywire and people are freaking out even against like the umpires I think it’s better and and I think I get this from my dad my dad’s one of those people where 99 people would be saying one thing and my dad would say
“Well what about this
you don’t know what that person’s been through you don’t know what kind of day they’re having think about this.” Like “All right you can get mad but what is that getting all of these all these people are losing their mind?” And I think it’s important to keep your mind clear from things that have happened in the past especially bad things so you can make better decisions in the future because in essence as a human being I think I we should probably be a little bit smarter in that situation because I think our friendships and our relationships will be better and it’s funny how you can kind of take that thought process to the field and you know I want players to be able to feel like they can come to me and have a discussion about something even when they make a mistake because that’s the most important time I need to be at my clearest and I think that’s something that Tobos does a really good job where he’s just he’s clear and it’d be one thing if he was a pushover and I I think that’s important to mention if he was a pushover and guys didn’t respect him this isn’t a like thing it’s a respect thing
we would have seen and we would have heard you’re in that locker room just as much as I am we would have heard from somebody right any of the guys that cover this team that as long as they have including Scott Reynolds right you would have heard some negativity the last couple years when this team was swooning in the middle of the season whispers what if Todd’s not the guy bl we didn’t hear any of that that’s the That’s the one most important thing whe regardless of what you feel as a Buccaneers fan the last couple years when this team has struggled in the middle of the season the only way that they’ve been able to get out of that is because there is a strong structure a strong foundation and it starts at the top because these guys believe when nobody else believes when things are going down they stay together and man it it’s it’s hard enough to win when you don’t have that the Buccaneers have that and that’s why I I think one of the most important reasons why I’m very bullish and optimistic on them in 2025 yeah there’s a reason why they say cooler heads prevail and you’re absolutely right Jay because over the last two years I remember several times where players would get ahead of him and be like “Listen we’re not pointing the finger at everybody.” Like it’s it’s on all of us to get out of this not just the coaches not just either the offense or the defense even though last year clearly was the defense but regard regardless of that nobody played the blame game uh with each other and that’s why they were able to go out and succeed so yeah I think within the next two years we need to see an NFC Championship game appearance to truly feel good about Todd BS but I still think regardless the Bucks are in a really good spot going into this year uh let’s talk about some of the potential X factors uh going into the Bucks season some players specifically i’m very intrigued by the entire running back room Jay because we know Bucky Irving is going to be the top guy you know he had a sensational rookie year rashad White there’s a lot of uh you know intrigue and questions going into the season is it his last year with Tampa Bay how much more can his role improve how will it adjust with Josh Brzard coming in as the the offensive coordinator he was obviously here last year he knows all the personnel and then there’s the curious case of Shawn Tucker now we got to remember with Josh Brzard you know he came from Miami before he was with the Bucks where you know Miami obviously we all think of the great wide receivers with Hill and Wadd and all that stuff but they also found tons of diamonds in the rough with um you know with their running back rotation and they would rotate guys in and out which leads me to believe that Shawn Tucker may have a little bit more of a role in the running back room than maybe he did in previous seasons now we all know his story as well he was an undrafted free agent because uh he had a heart condition and probably would have been drafted if it wasn’t for that medical red flag but it is what it is he comes on as a undrafted free agent uh for the Bucks and then you know his second year he had that big game against the New Orleans Saints NFC offensive player of the week so what are your thoughts Jay on the Bucks running back room but then Shawn Tucker specifically because I think it goes more than just this year because if Rashad White is out after this season there’s a big opportunity for Shawn Tucker to prove hey I am a guy that you can rely on for at least the next two seasons when he’s under contract where yeah Buckyy’s the guy but we feel just as good about Shawn Tucker if he needs to step up into that role yeah I’m I’m glad that you said that about Miami because I remember having this conversation um about Han and and Raheem Moert and you’re wondering like who was going to be the guy that you were going to play in fantasy and the right answer for a couple of weeks there was both just put them both in there if you got them both why not but you know let’s not forget they drafted Jaylen Wright out of Tennessee in what the third or fourth round um the 2024 draft and people are like man we can get this guy going now he’s obviously bumped up the Jeep Deb chart there in Miami i again I don’t say things just to blow smoke i say things just because like I look at things maybe a little bit different than others i look at this position and I am looking at Rashad White because Bucky Irving in his rookie year had three different injuries and that is something to be cognizant of right you have to be aware regardless of do I think Buckyy’s a a bad running back no i think he’s awesome i think he’s amazing but you don’t get healthier as you get older in the National Football League and in year one for him to kind of pick up some little nicks and bruises here and to get three different types of injuries I mean you have to understand what you’re looking at in this scenario he’s not a big guy he runs tough as hell so do you think he’s going to be scott-free completely healthy for a 17game season i can only judge him from what I’ve seen last year i don’t care about Oregon give me year one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so now you’re telling me that a guy that was not the number one running back from the start of the season that picked up three different injuries is going to get the lion share of the load this year and he’s going to be healthier than last year i mean Matt would you bet your house on that like I don’t know if that’s necessarily a smart thing i don’t want to put that into existence and you know be a negative Nelly here because you guys know that’s not my thing we just had a discussion about optimism right looking at the bright side of things but there’s it’s a real it you know realistically right as much as we look at Rashad and okay he’s not that home run back he’s not a Saquon he’s not a he’s reliable he’s reliable as hell he’s a guy that catches the ball to the back field this is a guy that helps in pass protection and he’s a decent runner right I actually think that the strength of Rashad White is more of a third down back right for him to go out there and he’s going to be a guy that’s going to be able to catch four or five passes a game if he only runs for 37 38 8 45 yards as your backup tailback going into the game i’ll take that i’ll take it you know 80 90 combined yards rushing and passing with a guy that I know is going to be in the right situation i know that’s going to be out there so I don’t sleep on Rashad White in 2025 this guy has a lot to prove we know that he is a dude that has a ton of belief in himself it’s amazing what one year does right we were excited about Bucky last year but remember Rashad White was going on like the Rashad White World Tour last year yeah
in front of everybody right he was a media darling because he had that belief in himself and if you know Rashad and you know him that wasn’t He didn’t do that because he was like cocky he didn’t do that because like he was I’m bigger than everybody like he was just he’s trying to play the game like he’s trying to build his brand he’s trying to put himself out there he’s trying to put him in a position to get endorsements and you know he knew he was going to get an opportunity in a pretty good offense last year he just got usurped by a guy that was just better last season so I wouldn’t sleep on Rashad White just keep an eye on him as far as Shawn Tucker goes I think we have to be very conscientious of looking at what happened in a different place and think that it’s automatically going to happen here right because what they put up 70 points in that one game last year Miami like uh I don’t know how the offense is going to be because remember this is still going to be Josh Grisard’s first year and one thing that we should remember that Liam Cohen said very early on last year and this is one of his first press conferences is one of the most difficult things to deal with as an offensive coordinator is three running backs because you’re never going to play the hot hand you always have a one and I I think you’re going to see very similar what you saw last year when it comes to Shawn Tucker you know can he be a backup back when one of these guys goes down yeah no doubt about it but to think that he’s gonna just automatically come in because listen that’s the highs of the highs but is Shawn Tucker a guy that you trust is going to be healthy for 17 games is Shawn Tucker a guy that you know is going to be where he’s supposed to be when it comes to pass protection we don’t know because we’ve never asked them to do that but if the Buccaneers get into a situation in week five and they’re late in the game and Rashad White’s not in there and Shawn Tucker blows an assignment people are going to be like “Oh my god what the hell we weren’t talking about that type of thing so just something to be mindful of i
if if Shawn Tucker gets that opportunity it’s probably going to be through injury because I think the Buccaneers are going to try to see this 2025 season what they have and not just Bucky Irving but Rashad White as well
yeah I’ve been saying for a long time I think Rashad White still has a ton of value to this team and people are just ready we won’t want the next big thing and it’s so funny to think a couple years ago a lot of us were like why isn’t Rashad White playing more than Leonard Fornette and now Rashad White gets one year as the starter comes 10 yards away from being the first thousand yard rusher in over a decade but then comes along Bucky Irving and everyone wants to get rid of Rashad White i don’t think some people understand how important Rashad White is to that passing game because we all watched that um the the playoff game against the Commanders and Bucky got even more playing time because hey it’s you know as as they say the water boy in that last game last game of the year can’t hold anything back now so Bucky was playing even more bucky was getting steamrololled trying to pass block and things like that he’s sensational when you get him get him the ball but he can’t pass block like Rashad White can and I’m not saying Rashad White should be the starter it’s obviously Buckyy’s the guy but he’s also very very tiny so I I have the same concerns with you about him holding up
for a 17g game season and the postseason as well because you know he didn’t really take over until you know at least a month into the season so that was a lot less wear and tear on his body compared to you know starting from week one but he will this year for me Shawn Tucker really needs to find out what he can do in the passing game you did have that receiving touchdown against the Saints but you know that was when he was just Superman for an entire game but I think another reason why Shawn Tucker hasn’t gotten as much playing time
is because he struggled in that pass blocking area which again is a is a bigger question for not just this season because if Rashad White goes after this year who’s your running back to do the Bucks go into the draft and find a running back they got another guy Josh Williams who they d signed as an undrafted free agent out of LSU i I know everyone’s concerned about this season but if you’re looking longterm at the running back position if Shawn Tucker doesn’t prove it this year and if he does well then you got a a great problem on your hands but if he doesn’t well then running back depth becomes a big thing in the picture of next season yeah I’m with you buddy i look at the entire situation of I only think he’s going to be able to get those opportunities if somebody gets hurt which is kind of scary um but Sean Tucker’s we have to also be you know we all remember that Saints week right we all remember that and I think as sports fans sometimes you fall in love with the exception and not the rule right i I I think you can call it Scotty Miller syndrome like everybody falls in love with that one pass against the Green Bay Packers but when you look at the rest of his career it was like
all right you know what I mean like that’s you don’t want it to be one thing when when you’re talking about a good player or a great player you want to be able to talk about well remember this remember this remember this remember this and you could ask 10 people and it be 10 different things you know if you ask hey what’s Shawn Tucker’s shining moment as a member of the Tampa Buccaneers like any real Bucks fan will tell you out there it was that one week when he was NFC offensive player of the week like it’s got to be more than that you gotta flash more than that because you’re not a guy that’s gonna get three straight weeks of 25 carries unless somebody’s hurt so you have to make the mess make the most of these small amount of reps and if you don’t then we we might still be having the same question next year and then I do think no matter what happens this year the Buccaneers dig into the draft next season with a running back kind of in the mid rounds like we’ve seen you know last year with Bucky Irving
you’re saying people aren’t going to remember his one-y touchdown run against the Giants come on uh
what a terrible game for the Giants what an awful game that was
yeah that was pretty bad uh Jack M carco says “Rashad White looked in awesome physical shape for the OTAAS and has a positive attitude i agree with Jay don’t sleep on him.” Also our old pal John Mola says “Not going to lie.” Dot dot dot this sounds like a solid sports radio duo appreciate the comment John good to good to hear from you
podcasting is the life for me buddy no more sports radio thank you Loa let’s uh let’s talk about Logan Hall shall we we’ll go to the defensive side of the ball yeah we’re going to talk a little offense a little defense kind of go back and forth with it but Logan Hall to me is a bit of a streaky type of player uh he’ll have like two games in a row with the sack and then get kind of silent for three weeks and then you know pop up here and there but he had a really good playoff game against the Commanders he had a season high in tackles was great getting into the back field and Logan Hall is another guy going into a contract year just like uh Rashad White if he can tap into you know the the playoff game that he had against the Commanders that just makes the Bucks defensive line that much stronger because we know what we’re getting with Yayyabi out on the edge we think we know what we’re getting with Hassan Reic on the other side of the edge and of course Vivea Kala Cany are all fantastic at what they do but Logan Hall I think is one of those not secret weapons he’s been in the league long enough but as the title says an X factor of a guy that if he can tap into his potential he’s going to make himself even more money whether it’s with the Bucks or with another team and uh really elevate this defensive line that can do some special things this year your thoughts Jay uh I am one of those guys that I look at Logan Hall and I look at a guy that you know they say is what 66283 and he reminds me of a guy that is no longer here with the Buccaneers as 66281 i think Logan Hall is the perfect replacement for a guy like Will Goston um learned from Will the last couple of seasons i’m never going to look at Logan Hall and look at his sack totals and be like “Wow that is the difference.” That’s not his game that’s not going to be his game if he gets four or five and a half like yeah you want to see what you saw last year what four or five and a half sacks like that’s what you’re gonna get like if you’re hanging out and you’re trying to be like “Hey Logan Hall he’s if he doesn’t get 10 sacks he’s terrible.” That’s not the point that’s not going to be his game ever ever so fans can keep waiting that’s why you got Hassan Reic that’s why you have Bradwell and ya and all these different guys logan Hall is the new version of Will Goston and it’s
he’s going to be able to stop the run he’s never going to be in the wrong place right if he is people are going to show me oh yeah look at this play very small amount of times Logan Hall is going to be out of position and he is a consmate professional this dude says all the right things he does all the right things he’s available i think he’s found I think last year he found his niche with this team i mean it’s hard like I don’t know if you can have
really like when when you’re a team that struggles rushing the passer I think it’s hard for you to be able to have two guys that are like that because it’s kind of redundant it’s like a redundancy on the defensive line but now Logan’s here by himself he’s going to get those reps and he’s going to be that guy like early downs he’ll be out there try to run the football on Yaya excuse me on Vita Kalaji and Logan Hall like good luck that’s what you want you want to be able to stop the run and as much as we talk about the pass rush as much as we talk about the secondary let’s not forget when this Bucks defense is at its best it’s making sure that they stop the run on early downs when they can do that and they make the opposing offenses one-dimensional then those guys can pin their ears back and go from there so I really like Logan Hall but it’s all about how you manage your expectations as a Bucks fan when you’re looking at him don’t expect him to be a 10 sack guy expect him to be out there 17 games get four and a half five and a half sacks stop the run and just be available i really like the guy
and I think it’s important to point out he doesn’t typically play third down in those pass rushing situations so like it’s a little bit stacked against him with the if you’re looking strictly
it’ll always and it’ll always be you know what I mean he’s never going to be that and that’s there’s nothing wrong with that right and we we were just having this conversation about like Bucky and Rashad White it’s like you have to realize the best teams in sports find guys
and find the roles that they’re supposed to play in right there’s certain guys that are only situational pass rushers right there are only guys that are in basketball like sixman that come off the bench like they’re never going to be defensive players but coming off the bench as a six-man and lighting it up like right i mean nobody’s expecting Josh Hart to deal with the basketball the entire time right and and
Josh Hart expects deal
but you know what I’m saying like Josh is a guy that’s going to do everything that’s his thing like but you don’t know that you have to go through a couple years are you a starting shooter are you guys that are staying to the outside no you’re a guy that’s a rebounder ironically enough like you have to find your niche and what works for you and I think what 2024 showed us is that the Buccaneers kind of found a home for what Logan Hall does well and I anticipate him to be a steady Eddie like we see with a guy like Anthony Nelson that’s another great example anthony Nelson’s going to be your fourth or fifth pass rusher that’s fine like you need a guy like that that’s going to be there be available rotate in play a certain percentage of snaps and then make play make plays every once in a while like we saw against Carolina last year so I got no issues with Logan Hall i think he helps with the depth of this Buccaneers team i I think they could do a lot worse i just think he’s a really good player and and a really good dude
i think sometimes we get spoiled too where he was a second round pick but he was the the Buck’s first pick of that year’s draft when you see like immediate success from Tristan Worfs and Antoine Winfield Jr you know that that in 2020 when they got drafted or you know the way Bucky burst onto the scene last year as a fourth round pick you almost expect every single person that gets drafted to be like this sensational player but there’s a reason why there’s a Hall of Fame and there’s the Pro Bowl and stuff like that and that’s why Vea and Kija Cany are here because they’re able to do that so yeah I think it was well said that um you know he he’s he’s the perfect role contributing type of player as Robert Jackson 2700 says consent professional summed it up and uh Tim Wither Witherspoon said did goon finally retire he did not retire um the Bucks didn’t resign him I doubt that they will so who knows maybe he’ll wait a little bit see if he can sign on with like a playoff contending team but he’s not officially retired as of yet but we love Will Goston he uh he is not a Ring of Honor guy but I’ve always said he’s uh he’s the type of guy like they’ll show him at Raymond James Stadium maybe a video highlight package and everybody can stand up and give him a standing ovation that’s how I feel
super Bowl champ super Bowl champ
exactly one of the most games played in in as a puck in team history problem is he came in like right around the same time as Levante um we’ll always get that uh let’s talk about Grant Barton real quick now obviously we all know him as the first round pick last year had a solid rookie year but the reason I have him as an X factor Jay is if he’s able to elevate his game this year and just listening to him talk and being at press conferences with them and talk about how he dissects a game and how he prepares certain ways this guy just totally gets it in my opinion so if he can really raise his game and get himself into that conversation as one of the best centers in the NFC maybe a future you know Jason Kelsey type of center the way that he’s held in such high regard and I think Pro Bowls are in his future i think an all pro is in his future i just think the whole offensive line could really be the key to a Super Bowl run this year uh we know what they have at at at tackle but if if Grant Barton can really solidify himself as a dude that is going to be a leader of this team for a very long time i just think it opens new doors for this team that we didn’t even see last year yeah and the one thing I love about Graham Barton is this is a guy that is very accountable like I spoke to him almost after every game uh and he was very even on games where he thought I think a lot of people thought he played well
he would tell me like I got to do this better i got to get this better so he’s like his own worst critic right he’s a guy that’s going to look at himself in the mirror and he’ll really know if he played a good game or not
you know highly drafted right when you take a guy that high at that position you don’t anticipate him just kind of be a middle of the road type player you’re expecting him to be able to be a guy that’s going to come in and you know you’re right be a guy that I think one day maybe be a Ring of Honor guy when you get drafted that high um because you you get the battle last year he wins the battle i think the Buccaneers wanted him to win the battle um but he had some costly penalties too throughout the season and I don’t want to say a ton but there were some times where there were some big um plays for the Buccaneers it was that one play was it against Atlanta where they it was a holding call I think late in the game where it brought him back i think that it might have been on the same play where it was the no call on the face mask if I’m not mistaken um or on that drive it was a while ago folks sorry give me a break here but those are the type of things that you have to clean up because it’s on national TV and people are looking at that you have to be a guy that is the dude right you don’t have to be the biggest guy in the world and Jason Kelsey has proved that i like where he’s at i think the continuity of the entire offensive line behooves the development of a guy like Graham Barton but you’re right i mean if you want to see Pro Bowls and all pros in his future it’s got to show itself a little bit it’s got to show itself early i don’t know how much is like we saw the same you just made the comment about Tristan Worse and Anton Winfield Jr like I think that if Graham Barton is going to be that guy it’s going to be this year because you’re getting all these guys you brought Bredesen back malc is right next to him he’s got worse on the outside and of course Baker Mayfield in an offense with a tunch a bunch of good players you have to make sure as well I mean outside of a guy like Joe Thomas I mean the majority of these offensive linemen that get the postseason accolades I mean those are the ones that are going forward right they’re not in pass pro all the time they’re running the football they’re asserting their dominance on these teams i mean you just look up and down like you very it’s very rare to be able to see an offensive lineman get a ton of accolades on bad teams because it’s so hard to look good in pass production and when you do you do like I said when you are a Joe Thomas type of guy like it’s cuz you’re the man like it’s there’s nothing that could you you were able to you know step ahead of the inconsistencies and the uh the things that your team couldn’t do well i mean just think about it like Trent Williams right i mean yeah he was good in Washington he goes to San Francisco they’re running the football he’s the man like everybody looks at him the best lane Johnson all the guys for the Philadelphia Eagles the Dallas Cowboys their ability to run the football right so that’s what’s going to be key for the Buccaneers run the football again in this Josh Gazard offense stay out of stay out of the penalty box as I like to say i like to say that for all sports not just for hockey stay out of the penalty box and if you do that
he is going to have the benefit that guys like Mike Evans and Levante David didn’t have and that is some prime time games playing on a good team because just imagine if Brady came like if the Brady eras came or the Brady years came early on in Mike Evans and Levante David’s career um you’re talking about a guy like Levante that probably has eight or nine Pro Bowls right now st mike Evans and you’re talking about a couple of first ballot Hall of Famers so yeah I look at Graham Barton a lot of spotlight on the Buccaneers this year and you’re going to be the guy that’s hand you know hiking the ball to Baker Mayfield a ton if they run the football well and this offense you know is able to average what over 25 26 27 points and they win the division again I mean that offensive line is going to get a lot of kudos and he’s a guy that’s going to be right in that conversation for sure no doubt about it and especially with the offensive lineman it feels like there’s this inner circle and threshold and once you’re in it you’re you know almost a household name to NFL fans tristan Wars is certainly in there there’s no doubt he’s in there pul Lane Johnson Trent Williams
but it’s very difficult to get in there but I think eventually Grant Bon can it’s tough to do it in two seasons but I think he has the potential uh to do so we
I I can’t So real quick I just wanted to piggyback on that you have to for certain situations like that and I said this about like defense and hockey sometimes it’s hard to be able to get in those conversations when it’s when you can’t put a number to it it’s easy to kind of tell who the best pass rushes are because you just look at sacks same thing with receivers and running backs when you look at the offensive line when there’s not a ton of numbers that the casual fan can just uh you know put to a player like that you have to get in the conversation to become the conversation so when that happens that’s why you see a lot of kind of you know repeat winners on the offensive line and that’s why is just racking them up so if you can get in that conversation man you become that conversation and unless you do something really really bad or your team just falls off a cliff you’re probably going to be in that conversation for the rest of your career if you can keep up that play

on the ticker below but thank you everybody for all of your support uh got a couple super chats to get to so let’s uh let’s get that rocking and rolling starting with uh Mike Wells thank you for the $10 super chat it says “Awesome Monday show guys training camp anticipation is high but I got two X factors for this season and it’s Jay Mack Jaylen McMillan and also Logan Hall really think we’re going to see big things from those two so we already spoke about Logan Hall i know we said we were going to go offensive defense but hey if you super chat us we’ll talk about the people you want to talk about uh Jaylen McMillan I think is another guy that’s going to have an intriguing season if we’re looking at storylines going into this year because he had a banger of an end of the season but could not be could not have been colder at the beginning but it’s not how you start it’s how you finish but of course achuka is in the mix now um and he’s a guy that can really play everywhere can line up anywhere uh but for McMillan he’s more of a guy that kind of lines up to the outside so I’m curious curious how you think this battle is going to go for wide receiver three and does Jaylen McMillan get lost in the shuffle or can he be as much of an impact player as you know as a mechuka will be this year
I mean think about it when you look at this situation with Jaylen McMillan he’s kind of in the same spot this year that Trey Palmer was in last year right you look at the same situation where everybody was looking at this young wide receiver what kind of impact is he going to make and there was a a big discussion in training camp all right who’s wide receiver three we know it’s We know it’s Evans we know it’s Godwin is it Jaylen McMillan or is it Trey Palmer back and forth we know what they can bring everybody looks at Jaylen McMillan okay what happened there at Washington playing with the Dunes playing with Poke playing with Devin Culp right uh with Michael Penn Jr slinging the rock there and he really asserted himself well as the year went on he made the most of those opportunities when those guys went down and man finished the season with a real bang now he’s got an opportunity to go and show hey in year two I’m going to be even better version of myself uh one thing that I I saw last year and I know people have talked about him being short-handed he does have and I don’t know if this is just something that happens in camp or practice like he’s got a case of the drops every once in a while too he does which is kind of weird because this is a guy that at times when he really sees the ball into his hands he’s like
I we I guess we’ve said this about Mike his entire career right because Mike I don’t know if anybody Everybody loves Mike Evans nobody’s I don’t know if anybody’s ever called him shorthanded though he’s It’s kind of weird but it’s okay we love Mike and he’s gonna make a lot of catches that nobody else is going to make and I think Jayla might be a little bit like Mike in that situation where they’re going to make a lot of tough catches they’re going to be able to run any routes u but every once in a while they’re going to drop a pass you’re going like “Damn man acha Ibuka is kind of like a guy like Chris Godwin where it’s probably a little bit less of a flash but more of a consistency.” Uh and we go back to the whole Chris Godwin conversation too right what happens with him does he start week one uh he’s going to be the guy I think that people are going to be looking at day one of training camp where is he on the field is he going to be with the team is he going to be practicing off to the side is he going to be taking apart in 111 seven on sevens nine on sevens like where is Chris Godwin going to be because I think the longer it’s going to take for him to get up to speed the more of a chance that we’re going to see all right it’s going to be Evan Zabuka and Jaylen McMillan and regardless of what order you want to put those last two guys in they’ll start with J-Mack just like they did last year and kind of start with the Trey Palmer and and kind of give him the inside look that’s what Todd Bulls does with this team right it’s it’s very he may have the rookie start the season right but it’s going to be a battle at least in the beginning of training camp right he’s going to give a little bit of a back and forth and he’s a guy that’s almost loyal to a fault that’s what some uh people really ridicule a guy like Todd BS for so when you’re looking at the wide receiver position you’re looking at a position that you deal with with in numbers so you don’t necessarily have to sit one guy to play another guy um but yeah I I think this is a very big litmus test for a guy like Jaylen McMillan
last year when there was no pressure on you really it was kind of like up to you to kind of show the world what you’re about now you’re the guy people are wondering like “All right where do you fit into this equation?” Because where a guy gets drafted does matter like he’s a first round pick the Buccaneers they think he is a long-term answer for this team at that position um long after Mike Evans and maybe even Chris Godwin is gone so it’s up to Jayla McMillan to put his best foot forward and starts the first day of training camp making sure he takes care of the football running the right routes and I think versatility is going to be the key not knowing what Chris Goblin status is for week one matt can these guys play inside and outside and if they can do that I mean watch out for this offense because there is a ton of weapons on it there is and you know it’s not like every time they’re going to go four wide receivers so that wide receiver three is still very important because that’s the Bucks base offense as it is with a lot of teams around the league with three wide receivers uh one tight end and a running back in the back field how long do you think the Bucks can get by without Chris Godwin say if he misses a little bit of time in the beginning of the season
i I I’m not worried about that at all i I I’m not I think they’ll be fine and I think that’s one of those things where the the way the season is it’s such a long season you play so many different games it’s a war of attrition man it’s just making sure that you’re healthy at the right times you look at what they were able to do last year we were worried about losing both those guys but Mike eventually came back right he eventually came back he gets the record he was available for the playoff game to me it’s about trying to stay healthy all year long and I I just I love the move for Chris returning because it would the discussion for him if he was in New England or in Jacksonville going into training camp there would have been a ton of pressure on Chris Gwin to be ready for week one there is zero pressure I’m going to say that again there is zero pressure on Chris Godwin to be there for week one if he’s not ready he’s not ready the Buccaneers have other guys that can be there and other guys that can do the job even their depth guys when you go farther down when it’s a Sterling Shepard or Ryan Miller Cam Johnson or Rakim Jared or you know even you know Trey Palmer stays around what’s Johnson right like think about it like this is one of the deeper position groups that they have so there’s just no reason to rush him back knowing he’s probably not going to be 100% the first week he suits up anyway for the Buccaneers so take your time I think that benefits Chris Godwin in his own personal individual career and the team and that’s why Jason Light making that pick of Amecha Ibuka even though he says had nothing to do with Chris Godwin uh even if it’s just a byproduct that it was a fail safe right for the Buccaneers in case you know a contingency plan for Chris Godwin i mean that’s what good GMs do good GMs you find a way to almost kill two birds with one stone all right yeah we don’t necessarily maybe we’re we’re drafting the best player available we’re drafting a guy that’s a pro but we’re also drafting a position that doesn’t have big question marks but has small question marks and kind of figures out where our kind of again going back to the role discussion where our guys fit in when it comes to their roles so I have zero concern about Chris Godwin i think he’ll be out there when he’s ready and I think Buccaneers do a great job of you know taking their time and not rushing him back too soon
yeah this is way different than when Godwin had to come back in 2022 like that entire offense let alone the receiver room looks so different compared to what it is now and that’s a huge credit to Jason Light because whether it was wide receiver or you know the secondary which we’re going to talk about in just a second
there’s really nowhere on this roster where it’s like wow this is like really really thin maybe at safety after Winfield Jr and Taiiki Smith but besides that like yeah there’s really no excuses for Todd B’s play calling for Josh Bazard play calling even though he’s a first year guy because they have answers pretty much everywhere and uh there’s two more players I want to talk about we can combine them together because they play in the secondary but that’s Tiki Smith and then rookie Jacob Parish now Taiki is going from playing in the slot to starting at safety next to Antoine Winfield Jr so I just think he’s another example of you know a guy that can really take the ball away for the Bucks where they didn’t have any last year i mean Ty Smith tied for the team lead in interceptions uh and forced fumbles as well um and then Jacob Parish I mean he’s already made some noise had some interceptions in in rookie mini camp and and mandatory mini camp and you know has the speed where I think he may end up being the uh the top nickel guy for the Bucks this year we might see a little bit of a rotation depending on uh the personnel of the opponent uh but your thoughts on Taiiki Smith and Jacob Parish
i’ll start with Jacob Parish um we have to be very careful putting a lot of expectations on rookie players and especially guys that are mid-round picks um because again we look at Bucky Irving nobody thought people thought people were excited for Bucky people thought he could probably do no I don’t think anybody saw Bucky doing Bucky himself what he was able to do in 2024 right i mean even guys that are first round picks like you can’t Graham Barton’s a great example right it takes a while for guys just because we had two guys that and a lot of it had to do the team with the team they were on right would Tristan Worse and Antofield Jr be the same players if they didn’t come to a team in 2020 that won the Super Bowl probably not like it’s it’s not throwing shade that’s just the way it goes like it depends it’s not always when you’re drafted it’s where you’re drafted right your situation that you go to the coaching staff the players around you that has a lot to do with it i would be very very hesitant to pencil Jacob Parish into a guy that’s going to be starting week one as the starting nickel will he end up that way maybe i I think everybody’s hoping so but calm calm yeah pump the brakes on Jacob Parish right i think long term yeah that’s what you want but all this talk about like oh Benjamin Morrison he’s a second first round pick this is a guy dealing with injury too right let’s be careful jaylen McMillan is a guy that finished the season fantastically last year but we just said he started out a little bit slow getting used to the pro game is a huge adjustment even for first round no doubt can’t miss prospects so Todd BS is going to usher these guys along slowly and I think it’s important to kind of just not put everything on Jacob Parish too soon because what happens if you do start him and he gets burned in week one and week two and week three and then his confidence is lost for the entire season then what the goal is not for this team to be great in week one the goal is for this team to peak at the right time at the end of the season to stay healthy and to be one of the final teams standing when it’s all said and done when we talk about Tai Smith that’s a different conversation altogether i I look at a guy like Tai Smith and I want to see more i know a lot of people liked him and there’s some numbers that back it up he’s got to be healthy he’s got to be available everybody talked about him coming in that he can do a lot of different things he’s able to you know the thump be able to be the hit guys there in the open field i like that the Buccaneers are craving for stability opposite of Anon Winfield Jr if those two guys can play at the level that their talent shows that they you know has said that they can play I mean watch out because Anton Winfield Jr is such a differencemaker like this is a guy that’s an NFL you know you’re talking about defensive player of the year candidate with the way that he not only has makes turnovers but they’re gamechanging plays like it’s not just a turnover on a third and 17 that a guy lost down the field that is almost acting like a pseudo punt anfield Jr makes plays that can change the entire complexion of the game and if Taiki Smith can be that just battering ram and can just play all over the field and just start launching himself at guys and making plays and coming up with some turnovers himself I mean you could be looking at one of the best safety duos in the game so I I put a lot more expectation and and and spotlight on a guy like Tai Smith all right young man a lot of you know people excited to see what you were able to do last year but we even saw the inconsistency with him right so when you talk about the rookies right you understand what you’re going to see it’s not going to be the same thing every single week and if you can do that like a Tristan Worse you know you’re you’re on you’re in route to possibly a Hall of Fame career that that’s a very small percentage of players in the National Football League so I like both of those players but I look at a guy like Tai Smith like “All right buddy now’s your time step up to the plate and hit a home run.”
I think staying healthy and available for a full season is important for Tai Smith that’s always tough with concussions cuz like you know with football you’re going to be in some you know tough situation so I’m not going to be like oh he’s got an injury history the way that like Jamal Dean has an injury history but I do agree with you Jay in terms of if Tiki Smith I mean there’s a reason why Todd BS last year was like I’m very comfortable with him like playing a lot of playing time like early in his career when he was a rookie but him and Antoine together I think if Tykei can continue to just operate as a smooth operator and and do all these great things and make it look so effortlessly and we know how Antoine Winfield Jr is you know when he’s healthy too this could be uh a really fearsome group at the safety position uh real quick got to talk about walk-ons uh love walk-ons you can eat like a winner and drink like a champ over at walk-ons they have happy hour every single day of the week tuesday is the big day to go because it’s all day happy hour with $5 Titos you can even go today as well i still got a little bit of time going from uh 3M until close you can do that on Friday as well awesome drinks fantastic food we had a great event there uh recently so shout out to Walk-Ons one over in Wesley Chapel another in Lakeland and a third in Midtown Tampa not far from uh Raymond James Stadium where the Bucks play so uh I know the playoffs in the NBA and NHL have ended but you still got baseball going on
the uh the British Open now just the Open is coming up soon ufc was awesome last Saturday i saw you tweeting about it a little bit Jay i was watching that too yeah so still a lot of great events to go over to at Walk-Ons and uh enjoy their food and drinks and watch some sports at the same time before we wrap up the show two more super chats to get to uh Mike Wells with the $5 super chat says “Thank you Mike says uh also really hoping to see big things out of Cody Malc this year i really believe he will be a top 10 guard this year he’s improved year in and year out i love when he gets to the second level that’s my favorite part of Cody Malc’s game he’ll get in your face he’s athletic he can move i think this offensive line can be I certainly a top three offensive line i think they’ll they’ll give the Eagles a good run for their money to be the top unit
yeah I I I like the determination of Cody Malc i mean he’s the one guy that I look at and go if there’s one guy that may be out of position at times it may be Cody Malc so he’s a guy that has to just incrementally get better and better as the year goes by but you can’t teach that nastiness that dog mentality so I mean you kind of live with some of the shortcomings at times with him but yeah uh you know again another year continuity with that offensive line i got no issues with Cody Mal at all
and then uh Robert Jackson thank you for the $2 super chat says “This Matt and Jay show is what I signed up for appreciate the kind words.” Yeah we always love having Jay on that’s right uh as a uh as a guest I’ve been lucky enough to be on your show uh from time to time as well and yeah it’s always fun talking to you you want to uh plug your social media and YouTube and everything like that

Expecting a lot of big plays from white this year. Guy is insanely good receiving out of the backfield, it doesn’t even make any sense
Get rid of Bowles would be the dumbest thing Bucs could do.
