Orlando Magic to sign Tyus Jones to contract #orlandomagic #tyusjones #nba
the Orlando Magic have their point guard They have their free agent and they have some new restrictions to work with as they sign Taius Jones to or they’re reportingly going to sign Taius Jones to a one-year $7 million contract My name is Philip Ross Mike of course the host of Locked on Magic My quick takeaway on this is Tyus Jones is someone that the Orlando Magic and more specifically Orlando Magic fans have had their eye on for several years He is an excellent three-point shooter a a plus 40% three-point shooter He is a low mistake player Someone who does not turn the ball over He’s averaged only one turnover per game in the last two seasons It’s the only two seasons in his career He’s averaged more than a turnover per game And he is a high assist player Someone who’s going to get a high assist to turnover ratio This is a player that is going to make your offense better by helping it run efficiently and bringing him off the bench or having him be a spot starter is going to be a big boost But the big takeaway for now as I’m recording this is what happens next In order to sign Taius Jones to a one-year $7 million deal The Magic had to dip into the non-T taxpayer mid-level exception And that means they are currently hardcapped at the first apron That means they only have about $6 million left to resign two more players Whether that’s Caleb Houston or Movagner or somebody else the Magic have put a lot of handcuffs on themselves to get to the next level to get themselves to complete this roster Still this is a big improvement This is a guy that’s going to help this team going to fill in that Cory Joseph role as a stabilizer in the lineups that he plays And the Magic finally have their point guard
The Orlando Magic found their point guard. But signing him comes with restrictions (for now). But the team made their offense better.

Now l truly believe that Waltman is serious about winning. 👍🏻
Nice
How do we get both Moe and Caleb back now? Is it possible?
We need to make Moe an assistant coach while he is in rehab mode and when he is done bring him back at a reduced contract to finish out the year. Just like we did with Tree Rollins in 1995. Tree was able to help Shaq beat Indiana and get the Magic to the NBA finals
Cant we still make trades and reduce salary that way
We need to keep Moe. He’s a big energy boost for our team. He helps a ton in my opinion.
The dude who got benched on one of the worst teams in the league last year ? Who had his spot taken by a g leaguer ?? Who's never played playoff mins for a legitimate playoff team ??? Enjoy the continued mediocrity Phillip, you helped create this culture.
Don't think Tyus was the right move. Rather Corey Joesph, honestly. Better leadership and less money.
Let's get Mo, and that's it, or even better get Duncan Robinson for 7 to million a year
Get rid of useless overrated Jett Howard 🙏
Sign Dwight Howard
Worst defender on our team now. He won't see the floor under Mosley during playoffs watch. Between him and Goga that's 16mil of dead money that isn't helping us in the playoffs. Throw in JIs 15 and that's 30 mil that we could have spent on someone to actually CHANGE this magic offense. Serious changes are clearly needed, this is not it. Look at the moves ATL is making and how every available need both offensively and defensively is being plugged into Quins elite system.
Tyus is gonna be good for Anthony Black. I hope Jase Richardson can learn from him as he tries to develop as a PG.
WE ARENT PLAYING AROUND it’s starting to get scary for the rest of the NBA.
plz at least bring moe back😢
Love this move. Although Phil you said we have 6 million left to spend, isn’t it more like 8.7 million? This is based on my math of your math (15.7 million prior to the Tyus Signing). If we’ve got 8.7 mil left, I think we sign Mo to 2 years 12 mil, and save the rest for a minimum guy depending on fit and availability (or just give it to Caleb)
