Hopefully it’s cheap and not more than 2-3 years – as a thanks for bringing him back to NHL. He was a great value last year, and we have the need at RD while prospects come up
Gross.
He was as good as dobson was offensively, he was also as shit as Dobson was defensively.
He’s gonna be a stop gap until the prospects are ready. I don’t hate the move as long as it’s 2-3 years
Damn, I hate tony D.
unfortunately he moves the puck better than anyone else we had last year
I don’t like the guy but he DID behave last year.
As long as he continues to behave…sure. hes far from the only idiot in the league, hes just been one of the more outspoken ones but again he was pretty quiet last year so fingers crossed for the same.
I think that would mean Schaefer won’t be on the roster next season. I’m fine with this. No need to rush him to the lineup.
Closing on a house? He’ll fit right in if he buys in Merrick or Massapequa.
1 year deal on IG
edit – 1.75m
Nice. He was pretty solid last year. With Dobson gone, he should QB PP1
He was a great pick last year and deserves another chance. He was a better defensemen than most of ours positional, could generate breakouts, and could keep us in the offensive zone.
I don’t really care the own goal because that’s a one off mistake as opposed to most of what mayfield does on the ice which is consistent mistakes.
Ugh i wish we never got him
The guy caused zero issues on the team last year and was on a 50 point pace. He stands up for his teammates and his goalie, unlike Dobson, and he can actually run a PP.
He also can make insane passes from our zone to hit a streaking forward and break them open for a breakaway.
What he lacks defensively, he makes up for offensively.
I’m thrilled he’s back. The room liked him. You want to doom the isles signing a 50 point d-man for less than 2 million, go ahead. You sound foolish. But go ahead.
If he can keep the own goals to a minimum, I don’t hate it. Not any worse defensively than Dobson, and much cheaper
Everyone here hates the idea of a long or even semi long contract for him because he’s not that good right? I actually don’t give a shit if he’s a bad guy or not. This deal better be 1-2 years and the price better be right because he’s kind of ass ngl.
I think I heard. 1.25 aav. Won’t complain for that price. Hope he comes out looking better this season tho. No more own goals.
Makes sense since they need some offense on the back end with Dobson gone
BOOO
It makes sense as a stopgap. He definitely was rusty last year, didn’t provide the amount of offense I think the Islanders hoped he would.
Came on the scene firing hot but wore down. Looking forward to seeing him w a full camp and being ready to go.
