Give us outfielders and a team that'll hopefully overpay for Lugo cough cough padres

  1. This isn’t news. If a team needs a SP, they’d be dumb not to ask the Royals about Lugo.

  2. That means we’re getting PCA right?….right…..please? 🙏😭😭😭

  3. “X team inquires about Seth Lugo” is going to be a very common headline over the next few weeks. Great player on a poorly performing team with a player option that he is almost definitely going to decline.

  4. Cubs and royals fan perspective here – rumor has it that one of the cubs top corner OF bats, caissie or Alcantara, could go back to the royals. Both have their issues but solidly top 100 prospects who should make a major league impact at some point. Would be excited for both teams.

  5. “e writes that the Royals could pursue top prospects like shortstop Jefferson Rojas or outfielder Owen Caissie, but that it would require a second piece from the Royals such as second baseman Jonathan India or closer Carlos Estévez.”

    Oh, no not India

(Just getting him off the team would be an upgrade)

  6. Hypothetically let’s say we keep Lugo and give him a qualifying offer. Currently there’s a mutual option at 15 million for 2026. So that QO would roughly be 6 million more than what we are scheduled to pay him next year.

Based on Lugo’s last 2 years as an actual starter. This guy is trending up big time. Am I crazy in thinking that there should be a team to offer him a contract which would give us a round 1 comp pick? Shouldn’t this also be taken into account when dealing Lugo? This years draft class sounds like there’s quite a bit of talent in it.

  7. A Lugo level starter plus another MLB piece for a single prospect is nuts. Feels like prospect valuations are a higher than they have ever been.
