π¨ BREAKING: Duncan Robinson to the Pistons π + more on Damian Lillard & Myles Turner | SportsCenter
Welcome into Sports Hunter on this is what day is it? Is it Tuesday? That’s a great sign. El Duncan with you for an hour solo where my guy Kevin Gandhi is traveling to Washington as we continue our 50 states in 50 days. But I am getting some help here from NBA insider Sham Shirania who’s been fielding 50 calls in 50 seconds. And we’ve got more breaking news for you today that was brought to us by Shams. The Bucks agreeing to a 4-year $17 million deal with former Pacer center Miles Turner. But to make that money work, they’re waving Damen Lillard and spreading his $113 million over five years. You’ll remember that Dne tore his Achilles in the first round. And I think it is a safe assessment to say he won’t play next year. So we’re going to bring in Shan Shirani, our senior NBA insider. What more can you tell us about these big moves that the Bucks made today? So, El, this move really came out of nowhere for the Bucks. And it was really started because over the last 24 hours, Miles Turner wanted to be back in Indiana, the longest tenure Pacer, but he felt that they had just been giving him offers that were below market value as the Pacers wanted to avert from paying the luxury tax. And there were several offers that he just did not feel comfortable with. And so John Horse, the Bucks general manager, worked very closely with his agent Austin Brown to find a deal. And so this is the third time in Janut Koopo’s career where we feel, hey, things might be shaky and John Horse makes a big move. But in order to do so, they end up stretching and waving Damen Lillard and his $113 million left on his contract. I am told though that Damen Lillard welcomed the release. He welcomed the change of scenery. He will be spending the next several months obviously rehabbing in Portland around his family and he’s going to get all of that $113 million and for the first time in his career he’s going to be able to dictate exactly where he’s going to play in free agency. So somewhat of a win-win. Damen Lillard now looking to the future. A new change of scenery for him.
Well, well earned for him as well to have that ability to do that. By the way, some other moves. Milwaukee loses Brook Lopez. They trade away Pat Coneton to the Hornets, but they’re bringing back Gary Trent Jr. and Bobby Portoris. I’m gonna be honest, Shams. When you see breaking news and the Bucks involved, you just assume that Giannis is going to be a part of it. What do all these moves signify in terms of his status?
Giannis Gumpo continues to evaluate everything that’s going on around the Bucks. So, every single day he’s going to look and see draft week went by free agency week. Now, as we’re in, of course, he did take notice of this move today, but he’s going to evaluate, from my understanding, the entire summer, not just about one day. He has made it very clear all he’s thinking about is a second championship and that pursuit. And so he’s been open-minded about whether that future is back in Milwaukee or elsewhere. Of course, in the Bucks eyes, today was a step in the right direction.
Okay. We love when you bring us breaking news, Shams, cuz mostly we just are on Twitter all the time looking to see what it is. So you have some breaking news for us right now?
I do have something just for you, L.
Okay.
Free agent sharpshooter Duncan Robinson is leaving the Heat after seven seasons. I’m told he’s reached agreement on a three-year, $48 million deal to join the Detroit Pistons. So, Kate Cunningham has a new shooter. His agent, Jason Gluchon, navigated multiple options in the marketplace. He could have returned back to Miami, but he’s a player that led the Heat all time in in three-pointers made in just seven, eight years there. Of course, undrafted player. He’s only one of eight undrafted players that have a thousand three-pointers or more. Kate Cunningham has his new knockdown shooter. They lost Dennis Shruder. Malik Vasley obviously on pause due to a federal investigation, but they picked up Caris Levert. And today Duncan Robinson, another Michiganer back.
You mentioned it, seven years, 1,200 three-pointers over the course of his career. And I appreciate you giving us that news right here so we could keep it in the brand name. You know what I mean? We have something else. Simone Fonteio from Detroit will be getting traded in this deal to Miami in a signing trade. So Duncan Robinson goes to Detroit. Simone Fontki, who’s also a shooter, goes to Miami.
There we go. Sham Shirania, it’s been a big week for him. He’s standing by. Any breaking news, you know, we’re going to bring it to you right here live. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
On SportsCenter, Shams Charania joins to discuss the latest on Damian Lillard getting waived by the Milwaukee Bucks, Myles Turner agreeing to a deal with the team and Duncan Robinson agreeing to a 3-yr/$48M deal with the Detroit Pistons.

LETS GOOOOOOOOOO CARIS LEVERT AND DUNCAN ROBINSON AND ROOKIE CHAZ LANIER DEEETROIT BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pistons tryna shoot from deepπ
Thank god we didnt keep him did nothing after the first big contract
Pistons have to do more. Duncan and Levert arent very good. Duncan is worse than Malik and Levert is about the same as Schroder. Knicks and Cavs are still better. Magic and Hawks also made moves and got better.
"Win,win?" Remind me of what they had to give up to get Lillard?
Wow !!!!!!β¦ Excellent move for Pistons!!
Dame to the heat or Lakers Yooo LeBron make that kall
Malik Beasley had the world at his fingertips and thrown it away!
Both this broad and Malika are absolutely terrible to listen to. Typical DEI hires by espn
2nd good piece Pistons have received
Chams breaking news on the fly
Myles didnβt play well in the Finals
Nba players should be ore like Jalen Brunson from the knicks. This gives me so much more respect for Brunson, he gave up 100 million dollars just to put his team and their championship goals first. Myles Turner literally said, mmm nahh, idc about yall. more power to him but still,
Fontecchio is gonna do well in Miami
Tf are the Lakers doing? tanking for Bryce James??
No second round pick? Now thatβs crazy, everybody tries to gut Miami and they turn around and let someone punk them out of doing the deal without compensation
What are we doing Miami?!!
Dame to the lakers π
I hope this is a fresh start for Duncan, he exploded in the bubble and then just disappeared after that. The Heat sparingly used him and he still gets buckets but I just donβt know why you pay him and then donβt utilize him as much as herro.
Correction – Duncan went to collage at Michigan but is from Maine. Robinson is the only other player to transfer from Division III to Division I with a full scholarship.
As a Pistons fan letβs go!!!
Robbed Miami, & fled to Detroit ππ
Man listening to Shams talk is painful
I was a Robinson fan at Miami
If they got elle on nba espn I might watch it again
Teams are still trying to aquire assets to get Giannis π
Go blue!!
Thatβs a good deal for DR.
The Heat will land Kuminga, Lauri or Morant. Maybe 2 of them.
Miami probably gonna try to pick up dame next season lol
Should have at least package him for bradley beal of something.
Beasley out now for sure
Shams is straight TRASH
This guy getting paid to hit shots sporadically
Thought she was calling Duncan Robinson βEl Duncanβ π
it so depressing to be a heat fan right nowβ¦.let the pain stop please π
Sharms breaking ANY type of news ππ DETROIT WHAT?!
Pistons did not get worse. Yall smoking.
They cut him while he's injured and two weeks before his birthday
Hero should just ask for a trade. Dude has talent that will just be wasted in Miami
I can't watch espn anymore, I used to have espn on TV for background noise
If you notice, Sam does not say anything that everybody else is not saying itβs like wow how are you an insider and you have no inside information
lebron to rockets
