  1. Man’s body is broken. Time to hang up the skates. Sucks going out like that if he does retire.

  2. I’m betting he plays in April. Just a hunch based on everything the Golden Knights have ever done.

  3. Pretty wild surgery he’s having. Really feel for the guy. Brutal way to end what has been an incredible career.

  4. I know everyone thinks it’s just cap shenanigans but I think this is actually legit. He already backed out of 4 nations last year because he was really banged up.

Now he’s forfeiting the last olympics he will ever have the opportunity to play in. I think his body is finally giving up on him unfortunately.

  5. Then retire? Already tired of the “he can walk again!” Media story when he magically heals in time for the play offs

  6. We joke because its Vegas but this dude would need double hip surgery just to attempt to play competitive again.

  7. Two Stanley cups and a gold medal. Hard to complain about that. Great career. I’m the same age and the best I’ve done is second place in div 3 beer league.

  8. Bilateral femur reconstruction is an insane procedure. He basically needs new femurs on both legs.

Even though all the “see you in the playoffs” jokes are funny there’s a more than likely chance Petro never returns to play.

Great career though, hopefully he can get to the point of a pain free retirement.

  9. And then the prophecy of the ancient golden knights will give him magical powers to play again in the playoffs! In a seriousness, he had a great career. It’s rly unfortunate that his career is over. Dude was an absolute warrior
