Winnipeg Jets 2025 Draft Class!
[Music] what’s going on everybody welcome back to another video and today we’re going to be looking into the Jets 2025 NHL draft class the Jets had five picks in this draft still had their first round pick uh that they did not have last season i’m going to go over every prospect individually just give my thoughts and give you know thoughts of some other scouts out there and what these players could turn into but without further ado let’s get on into this one with the Jets first round pick they drafted defenseman Sasha Bodamine from the Boston University of the NCAA left defenseman 18 years old listed as 6’2 183 lb i loved this pick i thought it was the best pick that they could have made here this was definitely in my mind the best player available on the board he’s got that big shot he’s got the hockey IQ the vision a very prototypical Jets prospect not to mention that his skating is great as well uh you know it just seems like you know he’s got a really good foundation for his skills at the NHL level probably not NHL ready this second but he’s not going to have to be in the NHL this second right it’s going to be a little bit till we see Sasha but very interesting about him is that he was the youngest player in college hockey and now he’s turned himself into a firstround pick right so you know nothing to scoff at there definitely really impressive feats and as a 17/18year-old he put up a goal and 13 assists for Boston University in 40 games a very good university by the way so you know definitely no shortage of competition there to get in the lineup really impressed by Sasha and then at the U8 national tournament Sasha put up 14 points as a defenseman that is the record for most points by defenseman ever at the U8s so add that one to the list of impressive things that Sasha did the thing that I really liked about this pick is that it seems like his his floor is like a number five number six defenseman it really does seem like this guy could turn into a very consistent NHLer very easily even with the skills he possesses right now without any growth right like just the the the skating the shooting the vision the IQ you know he’s going to be a good player um you know best case scenario hey he explodes and he ends up being into your top four right he kind of gives me Dylan Samberg vibes a little bit not not the same game but it just seemed like yeah that’s an NHL defenseman when they got drafted you know we’ll have to see where the ceiling goes obviously Samberg exploded into a guy that I believe could even play top pairing minutes for some teams and uh now you know you look at Bo Bodmine here maybe it’s a little while till we see him maybe three four years down the road but I think that’s a very good pick i saw a lot of people not liking this pick because he wasn’t you know a 8-ft tall right-winger from you know Calgary Alberta so you know I know it’s a certain crowd that don’t like it because he’s a European defenseman uh but he’s 6’2″ 183 lbs i kept seeing a lot of people saying like “Oh this small European he’s he’s not small for an 18-year-old he might even grow some more there.” So I think we got a really good one there worst case he ends up being a trade asset for the Jets to get better now but uh I do think that he strengthens the defense prospect pool by a ton good pick here by the Jets next up we’re going to be talking about Owen Martin from the Spokane Chiefs 18 years old 6′ tall 185 drafted 92nd overall in the third round by your Winnipeg Jets the Jets go ahead and take the local product from Oakbank Manitoba in the third round actually a really good pick a versatile winger can play center or wing right-hand shot center interesting fact about Owen he was coached by former Jets coach Brad Lowour uh you know over there in Spokane he’s the head coach currently used to be on the Jets assistant coaching staff uh so kind of an interesting tidbit there owen is definitely a project as most you know mid to late round picks are but his defensive skill is very evident at center he’s a very good two-way forward his transition game is very good his playmaking stands out and uh you know at the NHL level maybe he’s not an elite offensive powerhouse or anything like that but I do think that there’s potential for him to be a really good you know maybe prototypical third line centerman you know you think of Andrew Cop when he’s here he kind of reminds me of that maybe a little bit less physical but you know that’ll come with age again all these guys are just 18 years old we’re going to have to see how all these guys fill out and everything but already 6t tall 185 I think he’s got a ton of potential here to be a very good player here he had 34 points in 39 games in the WHL for the Chiefs this year we’ll see what happens with Owen this coming season but I do think that he’s a guy that could surprise a lot of people and kind of come out of nowhere there so you know we’ll see if he takes those steps but Owen Martin I like the pick here the Manitoba product moving on to the fifth round the Jets drafted victor Clingell 156th overall over there playing in Sweden 18 years old 5’10 187 so while a little bit smaller a little bit wider as well Victor Clingell let’s get on into him cling is definitely a guy to watch here drafted at 156th overall a guy that probably could have been drafted much earlier on uh you know the foot speed is definitely an issue uh you know maybe undersized as a winger maybe he grows but that is why he fell this far his NHL talents however obviously as I mentioned before his offensive game his vision his playmaking among some of the best in the draft and you know this guy has just just a nose offensively uh so we’ll see what this guy is able to turn into i think Victor is a very fun prospect does need to work on the skating uh and just the intangibles right this is a very raw offensive prospect so we’ll have to see you know how he develops but if he’s able to get the defensive game down you know I I think that we’ve got a little bit of a player here i think this guy could be a scorer um you know we’ll see what he turns into but uh Victor Clingsel definitely one of the more interesting players in this draft i wasn’t too familiar about him until the Jets actually took him watch some film on this guy he could be a problem now we head over to the next prospect edison Engel from the Brford Bulldogs of the OHL defenseman 18 years old 6’2 174 lbs drafted 188th overall in the sixth round so you know as you get later in the draft here you know you see some of these names that you’re not quite sure of but a ton of people love Edison Engle and for good reason watching the tape on this guy an incredible skater big body you know listed at 6’2 guy can move man for a defenseman that’s really impressive he can go ahead he can create some offense he can you know stand them up at the line he can kind of do it all uh you know if he can find maybe another gear here in his physicality he could be a really damn good player and I you know six round pick drafting guys with a skill set like this that’s pretty fun right you saw a lot of teams in the second round draft a lot of grinders and everything like that we’ll see how that ends up panning out for them low ceiling players h but you know the Jets get went ahead and they drafted like some damn good skill sets in this one and some players that you know with those skill sets could definitely be NHL players and effective ones at that and last but not least Jacob Cluchier from the Sagenov spirit of the OHL right-winger 18 years old 5’10 170 lb 220th overall in this second round similar to Clinkil he is a very offensively focused prospect a very dynamic right shot playmaker uh you know obviously playing for Sageno last year he’s got some pretty damn good puck skills his vision is very impressive and you know you take a look at some of the other Jets prospects that were drafted in this what did I talk about the vision right so it’s a common theme here jets value that vision that hockey IQ you know he’s maybe not the biggest player ever undersized winger but with being a right shot I do think it is a very fun pick for the Jets one of those you know we’ll take a stab at it see if this is able to translate to the NHL level and in the seventh round if you end up with an NHL player that is considered a win he played 67 games for the Spirit last season put up 47 points and you know this is one of those guys that we’re just gonna have to watch how he develops right we we’ve seen late round picks for the Jets explode in the past like Kieran Walton and uh Kevin He so see where these go uh but uh yeah Cluche one of those guys I think we should definitely be keeping an eye on but with all that said that is the Winnipeg Jets 2025 NHL entry draft class this season overall I really liked their draft obviously only five picks in this one i wondered if they would maybe move into the draft uh you know move maybe one of their depth defenseman to do so uh at certain points here but it looks like they got a really strong class with the picks they had i really really like uh Sasha Bowman i know a lot of people don’t because you know wasn’t that big Canadian boy that they took in the first round overall I thought they got the best prospect available really nice pick guy that should definitely turn into an NHL player uh the rest of the class really solid guys that have really good NHL tools right now and guys that you know um you know if they take a couple steps they could turn into real legit NHL players down the line pretty good prospect pool uh you know building up here for the Jets i like what they’ve got uh we’ll see if uh you know any of these guys break out in training camp or at the Young Stars tournaments so we’ll see what happens with those but that’s all I got guys thank you so much for watching as always leave a comment down below did you like the How we feeling about the Jets draft class?
Enjoy the giant "Leave a Like" button lmfao my fault
A very good class, got tons of skill with limited capital
Pretty good draft by WPG. Got a nice steal of Viktor Klingsell. But I wish we drafted at the 220 pick wish we drafted Filip Ekberg. Could have gotten another steal. But yeah great draft for WPG. Really happy.
as a very casual hockey fan i'll take your word for the class, have no idea what makes a great hockey rookie
Absolutely cannot get worked up about any Jets draft pick – most prospects don't amount to a hill of beans.
Big yawn here !!
