[Fullcourtpass] Tony Parker admits Kobe Bryant learned French just to talk shit to him. “It didn’t work, but mad respect he learned the language.”

  1. An amateur of the language can never effectively trash talk a native speaker, it would almost always make them laugh

Also it matters which type of curse Kobe was throwing, a simple “Putain de merde” and a “Va te faire enculer” is definitely different in terms of the level of respect it earns you from natives.

  2. Kobe would guard Parker and destroy the Spurs in the playoffs. How many superstars can do that?

  3. I’m not surprised in the slightest. I’m surprised Kobe didn’t buy a house right next to him just so he could trash talk him off the court, too. If you remember Kobe, that isn’t far-fetched. Only MJ had more drive & passion.

  4. I learned talking shit in Spanish from my cooks from my days as a server bad bartender. Valuable knowledge

  5. J’ai vraiment envie d’entendre ce «crazy stuff» dont il parle.

  6. The spurs and lakers really ran the west for 13 out of 16 years from ‘99 till ‘14

  7. seeing how Kobe already spoke italian and spanish, scooping up the basics of french quickly wouldnt be all that insane, especially for that crazy MF.

  8. the glaze kobe gets is crazy. There’s the same story with Luis Scola when he shit talked him in Spanish and it was really bad Spanish (a bit surprising considering his wife is Mexican, surprised he didn’t pick up more.) Scola couldn’t even understand him.

  9. “It didn’t work” lol Tony Parker is probably one of the few who earned the right to say Kobe didn’t rattle him.

  10. Kobe had at least some basics of French before, his dad played in France so Kobe went to school near Mulhouse for a year in 91/92

  11. Stupid amiericans think learning 3 sentences = learning the langauge.
