For those unaware, the Kings made a trade with the Toronto Raptors during the 2nd round of the 2024 NBA Draft involving Davion Mitchell, the 45th pick in the draft (Jamal Shead), a future Portland 2nd in 2025 (Alijah Martin) & Aleksandar "Sasha" Vezenkov in exchange for Jalen McDaniels. This was a salary dump done to free up cap space to sign DeMar DeRozan – only for the Raptors to get Sasha to forgo his entire outstanding NBA salary and thus not have any cap hit for them during the 2024/25 season.

This offseason, Sacramento did the exact same thing, moving Jonas Valančiūnas in exchange for the Dario Saric. The deal technically can't be finalized until Sunday but as it currently stands, JV is set to forgo his entire NBA salary with the Nuggets – which should free up more opportunities for Denver to go after some of the remaining free agents.

At least this time, it didn't cost them 2 second round picks and Davion Mitchell?

  1. Kings fans should all be granted a one time bandwagon card each time one of these posts come up

  2. If you can’t even last on the Kings your time is basically done in the NBA

    Tears

  3. So the king can just back out the trade then as its not finalised anyway is that correct?

  4. I know people are gonna laugh at this, but they should really consider Precious Achiuwa as a stop gap back up. He’s actually more serviceable than you think.. and gets better the more minutes he gets.

The issue is you have to kind of withstand the initial games before he gets a rhythm and those could be pretty rough lol. But he can have a stretch of like 8 to 10 games as a really high level reserve.

  5. People love playing for the Kings so much theyd rather quit the NBA than play for anyone else.

  6. real nuggets fans actually like this. keep them jokic on off numbers looking good #conspiracy

  7. Um this article is just reporting what others said earlier. Jonas was offered a deal and was thinking about it, but no decision was made yet. Also if Jonas wants a chance at a chip, this is the best chance he is ever going to have. This is arguably the best team he has ever been on roster wise, why the fuck give up a chance now when he can still play in Europe next year if things go bad in Denver.

  8. Clearly this is grounds for Vivek being forced to sell the team.

  9. The NBA players must have been so traumatized after playing for the Kings that they’d rather quit than playing another season.

  10. Damn I forgot he was a contributor on that raptors championship team lol

  11. I mean, sounds good as a headline until you realize that we gave up davion for free to get the raptors to eat Sasha

Then ended the year with no pgs

  12. He did a Nikola Mirotic.

Arrive by trade? Check. Mid-season trade to a new team? Check. Done after finishing a season away from New Orleans? Check.

If I had a nickel, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

  13. League Alerts doesn’t exactly sound like a trustworthy source. Let’s see what actually happens.

  14. You wrote like it’s a done deal, but it isn’t even in the questionable source you’ve linked

  15. Teams would have easily given up picks to get a guy who was willing to give up his entire salary to save money. Crazy they only got Saric

  16. This dude has made 150 million during his NBA career, finally gets traded to a legit contender, and is leaving to play for slightly more money overseas. It makes little sense to me.
