RED WINGS & OILERS MAKE SOME GREAT MOVES: ALBERT JOHANSSON, KASPERI KAPANEN, NOAH PHILP SIGNED
now i’m not going to lie there are a number of signings that happened today and i want to talk about all of them but i don’t want to spend like 30 seconds on each of them i like to dive in bro i like to make these conversations known i like to do deep dives i like to get in on all of these players and that sounds uh yeah that sounds really sus don’t take that out of context please the clip channels are going to have a field day with this one but i wanted to talk about the edmonton oilers and the detroit red wings don’t worry conucks fans we’ll get into the conucks later in today’s show there’s lots to talk about with that team don’t get me wrong but the edmonton oilers and red wings each made signings that i thought were super interesting to dive into so without further ado let’s talk about happy hour the edmonton oilers have resigned forward caspberry kaepernin to a one-year contract extension with an aav of $1.3 million a year should i even say million dollar a year because the contract is one year long therefore all the money that he gets is going to only be for that amount of time you get what i mean it’s not really worth it to bring that up but casper kaepern is back in edmonton 1.3 million the contract is a little rich i think a lot of oilers fans would generally agree that maybe 1.3 is a little bit high for what kaepernin was able to provide but it’s just 1.3 like this is not the end of the world the difference between 1.3 and half of that is literally only 700,000 it’s a very reasonable dollar amount and casper kaepern is a reasonable guy to have he’s turning 29 at the end of next month which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it hey guess what casper captain’s 29 years old i still remember when he had scored that world junior goal winning goldinning goal excuse me tongue twister over there world junior goldinning goal that’s exactly what it is all those years ago but the 61 194 pound right-handed forward played in edmonton this season getting 13 points in 57 games played he was sent over there from st louis had six points in 12 games in the playoffs kaan came alive maybe not necessarily against florida actually no i think he did he had three assists in the five games that he had played against the cats there and multiple assists against the dallas stars yeah i take that back caspberry kenan was a very underrated forward for the edmonton oilers no wonder fans seem to be happy with this signing in bringing him back now there are some replies going out there and talking about value this is what afp analytics said we think kaan earned a little bit extra money based off of his playoff performance good for him and the team gets a quality fourthline presence under contract afp projected kapin’s next dollar amount at 900,000 with 36 extrak there too so 936,000 that’s a weird way to say it how do you say that number i never talk about numbers in that range $936,000 that’s the projected range that he got he ended up getting a $400,000 pay raise on his real deal bench rates says here that kapan played at a $1.5 to $ 1.9 million level before midfebruary if he gets back to it he will be worth this money so it’s a good bet to make for the edmonton oilers with kapan getting brought back they also made a signing of the canmore kid the oilers have resigned noah phelp to a one-year two-way contract with an aav of $775,000 now it’s interesting with this phelps signing 775 the top reply goes out there and says “this is what kaan should have signed for.” and then a lot of people are going to disagree with that holy overpay yeah okay $775,000 that is an overpay but noah phelp is in that spot man it’s time to join the main squad as bench rates goes out there and puts it philp this season played in the bakersfield condors getting 35 points in 55 games played he had two points in 15 games with the edmonton oilers so not a bad showing he finally was able to crack the national hockey league and get himself some games there good story for a guy who was playing in the usports system just three years ago i mean it’s ridiculous that a guy can go from there you canadian university hockey to playing in the ahl and inevitably the nhl after a season where he did not play at all that is probably the craziest story i have seen i’m not saying that philip is like guaranteed to being an nhl superstar by any means but if he’s able to play at the very least a game with the oilers next season i think that is a super big win for anybody who is going from the us sports all the way to the ahl and the nhl in such a short amount of time with a year off in there too so philp may just have the most interesting career path in hockey at the moment he is not the only guy that got inked today that i want to talk about in this video though because it’s true the oilers made their two signings and casper kaan and noah philp but i also wanted to talk about the detroit red wings yeah hard segue over to mottown we had just spoken about vladimir terasenko and his trade earlier this morning but the red wings are still going out there making moves they have signed albert johansson aljo to a 2-year contract with an aav of $1.25 million a year look at this image it’s almost like a painting so nice but johansson getting a 2year deal that’s fine he’s growing he’s getting better aav 1.125 oh yeah sign me up for that afp analytics said that johansson played at roughly a $1.18 million value this previous season so the fact that he got 1.125 million is a slight discount average third pair defender good value honestly i’d say that he’s probably got a lot more potential than just being an average third pair defender you say that like he didn’t perform well in the second pair last season yeah that’s true he’s young he is very young albert johansson’s 24 years old and he’s just coming off of playing his first season with the national hockey league’s detroit red wings nine points 61 games played that’s fine he’s a rookie d man he’s not going to go out there and light the league on fire in the same way lane hudson or a quinn hughes macaroxin and dene power did he’s just going to be a guy and that’s fine right he’s not supposed to be a top tier guy especially at that dollar amount but 6′ 185 24 year old left-handed defenseman who was playing very solid hockey in the middle pairing of the red wings this season this is a guy who if he’s able to play top four minutes and be that contributor at only 1.125 million yeah sign me up for that i love the sound of johansson making only a million for the next two seasons whilst providing that growth and stellar play on top of moider asp edinson there is a lot of young blue lining hope going around in the detroit red wings organization and we are all here for it so i want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about each of these guys that had been signed today don’t worry we’re going to talk more so about signings in a later video i want to get into that big dobson not dobson romanov extension excuse me and of course the vancouver conucks made some moves here as well but for now let me know your thoughts in the comments section about caspberry kanin noah phelp and albert johansson signing contracts with the oilers and the red wings i hope you enjoyed this british trolls 999 and bye
