My opening night lineup prediction. What’s yours?

  1. I’d definitely keep Barzal and drouin separated, because it’ll be a pass happy fest with little shooting

  2. Forwards:

    Lee – Horvat – Barzal

    Drouin – Pageau – Holmstrom

    Duclair – Ritchie – Palmieri

    Heineman – Cizikas – Shabanov/Tsyplakov

    Engvall, Shabanov/Tsyplakov

    Defensemen:

    Pelech – Pulock

    Romanov – DeAngelo

    Schaefer – Mayfield

    Bear

  3. Drouin Barzal Shabanov

    Lee Horvat Palmieri

    Duke Pageau Holmes

    Hiney CC Sippy

  4. So glad I don’t see Fasching or MacLean in anyone’s list. Couldn’t watch those two another season

  5. Surprised how many people seem to think Ritchie is starting in Bridgeport

  6. This camp is going to be interesting because honestly, I could see multiple combinations working.
I think Duclair has the most to prove. Do you really want to be here? He might show a little more initiative with his spot not so guaranteed.

  7. Lee-Horvat-Drouin
    Duclair-Barzal-Shabanov
    Holmstrom-Pageau-Palmieri
    Heineman-Cizikas-Tsyplakov
    Engvall

This is actually a legitimately solid and deep offense if they can stay healthy this year and Shabanov isn’t a dud.

  8. It’s bizarre to me how dead-set so many of you are to get rid of Duclair. The number one complaint I’ve been hearing about this team for years was we need to add more guys who can score goals and we’re gonna jettison a guy who averages over 20 goals a year for his career because of a bad year where he got hurt 5 games into the season? It’s not like we can massively upgrade the team if we move out his salary. Why should we not just be hoping that he bounces back and can be the ~25 goal winger we were hoping for?

  9. They have to try heineman-pageau-holmstrom
Would be our new identity line

  10. Am I the only that thinks Lee probably ends up on the third line? Clearly a push towards youth and Holmstrom had a great year last year. Lee did too but is pushing 35 and Darche is looking to the future.

  11. 1.) Gillies
    Trottier
    Bossy
    2.) Tonelli
    – LaFontaine –
    Palffy
    3.) Nystrom –
    Tavares –
    Moulson
    4.) Goring –
    Peca –
    Thomas

    1.) Potvin –
    Persson
    2.) Morrow –
    Streit
    3.) Jonsson –
    Visnovsky

    Billy Smith
    Kelly Hrudey

This would be an awesome opening lineup

  12. Duclaire is an interesting one for me. Im still curious what happens with him. Does he stay, do we waive him, do we buy him out. Im curious what his status is given how last season ended between us and him

  13. It’s crazy to me how many people still see Anders Lee as a top 6 guy. I think he’d be a great F3/mentor playing with faster, younger guys.

    Drouin – Horvat – Shabanov

    Duclair – Barzal – Palmieri

    Lee – Ritchie – Holmstrom

    MacLean – Cizikas – Pageau

    Tsyplakov as your 7th

  14. Why not?

    Lee – Horvat – Palmieri

    Duclair – Barzal – Shabonov

    Drouin – Ritchie – Holmstrom

    Heineman – Pageau – Cizikas

    Tsyplikov

    Romanov – George

    Schaefer – Pulock

    Pelech – DeAngelo

    Mayfield

If Darche manages to unload Pageau, Cizikas moves back to C and Tsyp moves to 4th wing, and Engvall is the scratch. Hopefully he grabs a RHD.

  15. I’m a little surprised duclair is still here. Thought Isles might eat some contract and trade him on draft night

  16. Lee-Barzal-Holmstrom

    Drouin-Horvat-Palmieri

    Tysplakov-JGP-Shabanov

    Hieneman-Cizikas-Gatcomb/Duclair?

    Pelech-Pulock

    Romanov-Boquist

    Schaefer/George-TDA/Mayfield

I predict a trade of a W for depth LD. Isles will likely get a shot at some competition when waivers hit. Foolish to go for a Gavrikov. I prob woulda kept Reilly. But as is, Duclair appears to be an oddman out.

The top 9-11 is quite good. Heineman is an excellent defensive player. The 3rd line should feast on the weaker competition however it shakes out. Shabanov imho should run his own line. JGP is a grreat give n go guy. The size is concerning, but Tsypy has powerelements and should be a good linemate 5on5 for Shabanov.
One could easily swap JGP for Barzal, and still have a pretty good (if more typical) 3rd line.
