MAJOR MOVES: Pistons Arenโ€™t Playing Around ๐Ÿ‘€ | PJ Subscriber-Only Livestream EP7

and we are live. Welcome back to Pistons Jack YouTube channel. Uh today’s episode, as you can see, is a subscriber only stream. Stream number seven, stream number six for the offseason. Uh this show is for the Piston Jack subscribers over on Instagram. Uh we’ll bring up we’ve got Tom, Prince, Sarah joining us today on the show. Keen to hear all their thoughts. Uh for anyone else joining the show today, if you’re in the chat, if you’re watching, um depending on how long we go for today, we might be able to bring up some other people towards the end. But today’s show, if this is the first time you’re watching, is a chance to hear from fans, get everyone’s reactions to what has played out in the off season so far. It’s been one of the more I don’t know if exciting is the word, off season. There’s been a lot of ups and downs. We had the the Malik situation which was a big bit of a bummer the day before. Then we’ve had the Carris Levert signing. There was a kill Alexander Walker buzz. It’s been a very um it feels like the fan base has been up and down with how they’re feeling about this off season. I’ve found it exciting. It’s been fun um to cover. Bash. I’m not bringing up that comment, but that’s that’s crazy. Um, but uh before we get to our guests on today’s show, um, if you have any questions, please drop them in the chat. We will, uh, we’ll get to them. But we’re going to cover the Pistons signings. We’ll talk about Duncan Robinson, Carris Levert. We’ll also quickly touch on Paul Reed. Uh, we’ll talk about the Malik Mug trade, or I should probably more so call it the Dennis Shuda sign and trade, what’s going on there, the latest updates. Uh, and we’ll also talk a little bit about uh, summer league. And we didn’t do a stream last week, so I want to get uh, everyone’s thoughts on Chazania. Um, because we didn’t have a chance to do a stream after the draft because I was I was pretty sick. So, um, just my brief thoughts on where we’re at in the offseason. So, the big thing uh, which I’m sure everyone watching this um, is well across, but the big thing we’re all waiting on is the outcome of this Dennis Shruda signing trade. Uh it sounds like the three-team deal that was reportedly in the works between the Warriors, Kings, and Pistons now was probably a day and a half, two days ago. It sounds like the Warriors were the one holding that up, not wanting to part with Kaminga for what the Kings were essentially offering. Uh so that seems to be what’s kind of holding up that deal. Uh Anthony Slater from the Athletic who’s extremely tapped in with the the Warriors reported that that deal actually never really got close. Um now the Pistons obviously in all of this are just the third team. Um and they were reportedly bringing back Malik Monk. Uh it sounds like though just overall if the Pistons really want Malik Monk, it sounds like they’re going to get him. Um but you know that that’s still a lot to play out there. Um Brett Seagull from Clutch Points um who’s been a really good follow this off season um has some really good intel on the Pistons potentially looking to if the if the deal falls through between the Warriors Kings and Pistons. The Pistons potentially looking to pivot and open this up to He didn’t report they were interested in Collins, but he suggested Collins from the Jazz as a potential third team uh that they could bring into this. And I know a lot of fans are interested in John Collins and we’ve had um Kyle Mets, the Pistons cap guru on here for a few live streams this week and we were the from what Kyle was saying in order for the Pistons to bring back uh John Collins in that three team trade scenario, the Pistons we thought would have to give up Marcus Sassa and Bobby Clipman to make the salary work because Collins I think is on an expiring 25$26 million. Um, but Greg, Jax Gregory, who looks like another salary cap guru in the community, actually proposed this three team trade. I just saw this this morning, and this was really interesting. Um, and Kyle gave this the stamp of approval, so I assume this works. Um, so it’ be interesting to hear your thoughts on this, but essentially how the deal would look is it’d be a three-team team trade between the Kings, Jazz, and Pistons. The Pistons would obviously send Shuda to the Kings and a second round pick I think to Sacramento and then uh Detroit also send Lindy Waters um to the Jazz and I think the Jazz get a second as well from potentially Sacramento and then the Pistons get Collins. So, I I was really interested cuz the whole time I thought to pull off the Collins trade, the Pistons were going to have to um put in Sassa and Clinton to make the salary work, but using Lindy Waters as a sign and trade option actually does work. Now, whether the Jazz would want Lindy Lindy Waters is obviously another question, but it’s just another way to look at the deal without necessarily giving up one of Sasa who is a former first round pick and I know a lot of the fan base is still quite invested in. So, um that was another potential trade. Still real no update. It’s look when Kyle brought this up with us, we were kind of discussing like I know that the three team trade um really heated up with the Malik Monk discussion the other night, but when Amari initially reported that the Pistons were going to do a signing trade a full two days ago. Now, we were Kyle was pretty big on saying this probably is going to take a few days to play out. Nothing really needs to happen till July 6th. Um I probably should have said this off the start. Obviously, it’s July 4th for our friends over in the US. So, happy July 4th. I would be shocked if today a big deal does go down because I know it’s a national holiday, but um that’s also just a guess. So, um the only other piece of news I would say, and I spoke about this on my video last night, is uh the Pistons having some interest in Chris Buchรฉ, who has been with the Raptors for most of his career. He’s pretty much I think he used to play some small ball five, but he’s more of like a fourman. Um he can shoot it. He averaged like 10 points, five rebounds um in like 17 minutes. He puts up like he’s pretty productive in a limited role. Um he is quite like slender and not probably like the ideal player you want on the interior, but um as a backup four option, that’s interesting. The other backup four options I’ve seen discussed were um obviously Trey Lyles, former Piston, we all know him. And um the last one is Precious Precious Ature. um I think that’s how you pronounce his surname, the Knicks. He’s not going back to New York. So, all three of those players I just mentioned would be vet miniman guys. So, uh they could be signed regardless of what happens with um this this deal that’s going on with the shooter signing trade. But I think I’ve I think that’s most of the news. I I don’t believe I I haven’t had a full chance to scan everything this morning. So, if I’ve missed something, let us know. We’ll bring it up in the chat. But I’m going to go to Tom her. Get up the man. I can see Austin’s going to be joining as well. So, we got a bit of a busy show here. This is going to be fun. Tom, what’s going on, brother? What up, Jack? What up, everyone? All right. I can’t hear Tom.
Oh, is that me or is it my headphones? Let me just double check. I think it’s your headphones. Can Okay, everyone can hear. It’s
yours. This must be me.
Could you You Everyone can hear me talking. Could they?
Okay, let me turn off my headphones. They might be broken. No, I’ve got you now, Tom. I got you now. Hi. Hi.
My headphones. Yeah, sorry. It must been something wrong. My headphones. Um, Tom, how you been, my friend? Sorry about that.
I’ve been doing great. Your Aussie accent’s like, “It’s it’s it’s higher right now since you’re startled by your headphones.” Yeah. Someone on one of my videos yesterday was like, I think it was Mark. Oh, shout out to Mark from Perth was like, “Your Aussie accent was on full display.” Okay. Like he was saying that I say alls like alls a lot instead of like Anyway, I’m just going to shut up. Anyway, let’s talk about the offseason. No one wants to hear me talking about my Aussie accent. Um, so the first thing, Tom, how are you feeling overall? Obviously along the bottom of the screen for everyone, you can see what movements kind of happened right now. I think that’s updated. How are you feeling just as a fan? Obviously, we’ve had some fan favorites leave. The Malik situation’s pretty sad to be honest um with how that’s playing out, but I think the Pistons have also brought in some some players that can help. Um how are you feeling overall? Um first of all, another day, same majestic beer uh mustache, Jack. Yeah. Um about the moves like um the biggest moves, Lvert. I love Levert. Like I’ve been a fan of him since when he was in Brooklyn. like I know his inconsistencies but when he’s on he’s really on and he’s really developed a secondary playmaker so he can really help out in the playmaking department along with um Cade obviously um Jayen Assar sometimes with Jaylen Duran so I think he can also play that backup one spot at times so I think he’s a really good addition the price is kind of high but I still love him um and we need we definitely needed shooting movement shooting elite shooting to free up Kate and Ivy and Duran, everyone. And what he got through Duncan Robinson, what Trejan did with Duncan Robinson was absolutely great cuz especially considering the fact that his second year is non partially guaranteed and the third year is non-g guaranteed and that contract is marvelous. So it was a perfect signing for us and Trean did a way really really good job considering the circumstances like first day of free agency agency like Malik that news gets out and so he had to pivot really hard and he did a really great job in my opinion and we brought back Paul which I love and that’s really underrated signing cuz he like he’s like considering a backup five as a third string center I think he’s the best in the league as a third string center he’s like it’s as he’s as good as he can get. So, he’s a really good underrated signing for me. And the again the biggest signing or comeback that we have is Jayen Ivy, who we had injured most of last season. So, I’m really excited for next season in the first summer league.
Yeah, I I’m I’m with you. And I want to just stick on I think Carris Levert I I’ve like I’m not I’m going to be completely honest like anytime the Pistons been linked to him in trade rumors in the past season or two I’m just going be straight up like I was never interested but I also hadn’t really probably given him like dived into his game and seen like after reading about some of the stuff he did with the Cavs under JB staff some of the advancements he’s made in his game as more of a passer like I think I was just thinking of the Brooklyn Paris, who was a heavy ISO player who just shot mid-range shots and um I think I was I hadn’t really done my due diligence on him, but I think that that’s fine that signing and I think he can really help this team, but I’m actually sneakily like the more I dive into it getting really excited about Duncan Robinson. I know he can’t defend. I know he can’t defend and but to be honest like neither could our other shooters like bless Malik and THJ like they tried. I’m not saying they tried but they were a little bit undersized and they just you know they struggled defensively. So um I know Duncan doesn’t help there but like Tom I know you’re a sicko like me. I watched pretty much 20 minutes of that 30 minute video of all Dunker Robinson threes and I’m telling you the way he moves around the court he’s not so hurry but he is much like more of a different type of movement shooter I want to say than than Malik and THJ like Duncan is constantly moving and I’m so excited to see him with Jaylen Duran the the chemistry those two can create
and honestly he’s 6’8 he just shoots over people like he shot 39% on contested threes, catch and shoot threes. 39%. 45% on unguarded catch and shoot threes. These are crazy numbers. And it’s like I know he’s Malik had a crazy season last year. Like and I I don’t think Malik could replicate that. Like he had a Steph Curry type season last year. Like the stats back it up. But it’s like I think like Duncan I I I really think um I understand when you initially see that three years 48 but then you broke it down Tom like all the positives on the Piston side there with that contract. Like I I’m I’m sneakily excited for Duncan Robinson as a Piston. I’m not sneakily excited. I’m really excited cuz you mentioned that video of all Duncan Robinson threes and I you had when you posted it on your Twitter it had 44 views and I was one of the one 404 views. I mean well I saw your comment but
yeah I mean like the way you mentioned that he shoots over people and um he moves around the court. He’s just very similar to Malik Beasley and he’s a taller version I think. I hope um and uh being around Cade opens up opened up a lot for Malik like how Malik’s presence opened up a lot for Kade. It’s going to help Duncan and it’s going to help Kade is going to help Jaylen Duran and you mentioned he’s 68. So I think Malik was a bad pretty bad defender last season but he was not he was not the best but he was pretty bad. Um, but I think Duncan Robinson’s could be a better defender than Malik Bizley in that respect. I don’t think he can take charges like THJ did. But, um, still I think he’s going to be a positive presence for us and he’s a really he’s a person that we really needed to sign especially after the Levert signing cuz we didn’t have shooting. we had like we still have shaky shooters on the roster like Assar, like Ron, like Angel obviously, but having that type of shooter on the roster is critical, especially in today’s NBA. And I really love that signing. So hopefully we can get someone else like I don’t know to help space up the floor a bit more. But but so far I love the offseason. Yeah, it’s been and I think the thing with Duncan as well um I can see because I think the from what I was listening and heard Traan had actually agreed on the sign and trade for Malik Monk or was very close to obviously they didn’t fully agree
but the day Shruder was announced signing to the Kings I’m pretty sure Tan and the Kings had lined up Monk for Schroeder as a swap but then he backed out and pivoted and got Duncan Robinson And I think that was the right thing. Even though Monkey is a much better like I think most people would say Monk’s a much better well-rounded scorer than Duncan. I think like you said once we lost Beasley it was like we need that like bonafide like shooter that like even if he gives up some stuff on the defensive end like you just know he’s like pulling like he’s going to create space. So I think um they needed to do it. Maybe some will say they overpaid a little bit, but it’s like at the end of the day, like I know it’s 16 million fully guaranteed in the first year, but it’s like I mean, what’s the difference between like 16 and 12? Like you it’s still a very tradable contract. And like this is why Stu always gets thrown into deals is because he makes that 16 million which is really useful for trades.
None of us want to see straight uh Stu traded, most of us. But like now you have that contract and that’s the other good thing about Caris Levert. Um, I know it’s a two-year deal, but these are tradable contracts. So, you need those size of deals because you can’t just have only Stew on that and be like he’s the only piece considering his value. But, um, Tom, maybe let’s get I’m speaking too much here. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s go back to the draft. Um, how are you feeling about Chazanir because once again, I know you’re a sicko and I know you went and watched every one of his highlights, so I’m assuming you’re across his game. Yeah. Um, yeah. I I watched like how his history like his first two years he was like a bench player and all that stuff but um after watching all of his like analysis scouting reports highlights I’m convinced he’s the next coming of like Reggie Miller or something but really but on a more serious note he’s really good like um considering that we drafted in the second round his jump shots really quick he’s he’s like he has size he has frame and he does have hops so he can dunk and He’s a he’s a pretty okay defender. So, um I’m really okay with uh Chaz and he seems to have very happy to be in Detroit. Um I think he could have a chance if considering if we have injury one one or two injuries, he’s probably going to be in the G- League a lot. But if he gets does get the opportunity like how Sasser when he gets the opportunity performs, I think Chaz really has a chance to like shine. He actually older than Jaden Ivy and Jill and Duran and he’s like 25 24 25 definitely 20 23 24 maybe. Yeah, maybe. I think 24 sounds about right. I think he played five years. So I really respect his game. Like if you take a step away from him, the ball’s gone. He has really quick release. Um yeah.
Yeah. And I and I love how he talks in interviews. like he’s really he’s a very positive person and he’s already reckoning Detroit in social media so I love it.
No, I love the pick. He’s jump shot like he at summer league like I feel like he’s going to have at least a 30 point game some will say
you can never have you can never have too much shooting in today’s NBA. So
adding more shooters Sorry I was cutting you off. I feel like he’s probably going to have a game where he goes like one of nine from three, but I feel like he’s going to have potentially a couple where he’s like five of nine, maybe has one where he hits like seven. I just
he can shoot
and I it’s like I think um yeah, at his age Tom as well, like he could come in and you know actually potentially play a role in like these regular season games if there’s an injury or two. like at least he’s like not some raw 19year-old like um so I feel like he can come in and contribute
like but I kind of feel kind of not kind of I kind of feel sad to see like like Malik whatever happened what whatever happened to Malik
or THJ or even Simone like I’ve grown too much attached to our team last year so
uh it kind of felt bad seeing team go to the Denver Nuggets I I feel so happy for regarding the situation because he’s a perfect fit in the Denver rotation. That’s he’s he’s the kind of player that they needed.
But I don’t know like h the team last year Malik the vibes are great. So I’m kind of
I haven’t really had a chance to like this week’s been so busy like trying to keep up with everything. I haven’t had a chance but I’m definitely going to put together some thank you posts for them once like the off season dies a little bit and we know who’s on the team because um no each of those like THJ I got lots of good memories from his season with Detroit. S obviously Malik, we don’t know what’s happening there, but and then even Sim like Simone going back in that dreadful season like he was like a shining light after the trade deadline. So, um yeah, but Tom, I the last thing I ask you because I we’ve got a few people lined up here. Wasn’t expecting this many on the show today, but Antonio Green asked a question.
Die hard Pistons fan hoping we get Malik Mark or John Collins. Which player of these two would you prefer? Shout out to you Antonio for the question as well.
Like where’s Oh, wait. First of all, shout out to Tumen. Like that’s a Korean business YouTuber. Oh, really?
Shout. Yeah. Yeah. I actually met him in person. So,
what does he say? I cannot read.
She was like, “Oh, it’s Tom.” So, it’s a heroic shout out to him.
Yeah.
Can you Sorry. Can you read it in Korean?
Tomhoid. So, Tomhoid is like it’s him. So yeah, shout out to
Tomid. You’re gonna have to for free. I can do that.
Going back to the going back to your question like as a player I’ve been a huge fan of Malik Monk. Um he’s a really good especially as a sixman he can do everything. He can score downhill, he can shoot threes, he can somewhat create. He’s very similar to Curious Levert in a way, but Malik’s more of a shooter and Curious is more like a distributor, I think. But considering his contract, I think he signed an extension for four years 80 million. So, um I don’t think I think that’s one of the reasons the Kings wants to trade him because they have a lot of guards and the contract is kind of long and it’s large for a bench player. Um so, that is one. And um John Collins, I liked him in the Atlanta days, but when he got traded, like his defense is suspect. Um but he’s a very good love threat. He became a very good three-point shooter, especially from the corners. So if as a player that we needs right now, the player I like more is Malik Monk. But depending on the situation and the contract and the fit, I think I would prefer John Collins if we could land him because I correct me if I’m wrong, but John Collins is like on an expiring contract, right? Like the season
I believe. Yeah, about 25 26 million expiring.
Yeah, it’s a it’s a huge money, but it’s just one year. So, I think if we could land John Collins and have him as a super self off the bench along with Caris Levert, along with um our our bench players like Duncan Robinson or everyone else, a stew, John Collins, that’s going to be a very strong 10 to 11 man rotation, like probably 10 man, but we’re going to have a very strong lineup if we do manage to snag up a backup four because that’s a one hole that we have right now. And if John Collins do does arrive to the Pistons, I think he’s gonna be the perfect fit. But I don’t think we’re gonna get him, but hopefully we do. Yeah, if we do get him, I’m probably going to be on YouTube videos like saying, “Welcome to the Pistons.” You’re gonna find me in the comments.
I’ll be there with you. Um Tom, as Trevor said, you’re a legend. Love having you on the stream, my man. Um
we’re gonna go to Prince now, but appreciate you jumping on, brother. spending your morning here and giving us a bit of a Korean lesson. Actually, last thing, any of these a question.
I just want to make sure we got any questions here. We get to them in Korean.
Uh he’s like he’s saying, “I’m sorry I cannot speak English.” Um and he’s saying that I’m trying to I I still watch your videos even though my English is kind of bad. So, he wants to show you support. Yeah.
What a legend. What a legend. How cool is that? Well, Tom, thanks again, my brother. And we’ll chat soon.
Yeah, Jack. Um, bye everyone. Detroit, let’s go, Detroit. Let’s go. All right. Appreciate you, brother. Let’s get up Prince here and then we’ll go Sarah. Sorry, I think that one went a bit long to people waiting. So,
not rush, but I’ll try and stick to the time.
I’m good, brother. I’m happy. Can Can you hear me already?
Yeah, I got you. Can you hear your takes? Yeah, what a day. What a day. It’s been a great day. It’s been a great day so far. It’s a great Fourth of July. Uh it’s a lot of people causing a lot of ruckus outside my house right now. Fireworks everywhere. It’s just like, you know. But uh yeah. Fourth of July story that I um this is my only experience with the fourth like fourth of July. So this was in 2023 when I came over to for summer league and summer league was a lot earlier that year in July. So I think I landed in Vegas on July 4th and I was jetlagged. I was a mess. I was like I’d never travel by myself. Like I was not I was in a pretty bad bad mental state. And I remember I got to this Airbnb I’d booked. I should have just booked a hotel on the strip but for some reason I was like in this Airbnb a little bit tiny bit out of town. I remember I got there and I was dazed and I just thought I thought I was hearing gunshots and like I said gunshots and I’m freaking out and I was calling my girlfriend being like I can hear gunshots. So like what I and I already didn’t like the vibe of where I was staying but I was just and so I ended up messaging their host Airbnb being like I can hear gunshots. I’m getting out of here. Can I have a refund? Anyway, get my Uber. I booked a new hotel and then as we’re like traveling there I see it. It’s July 4th. It’s actually just fireworks. And the the Airbnb host was like, “There is no guns. I’ve never had this report. We’re not giving you a refund.” Anyway, that’s the only thing I’ve had to do for in the US. So,
that’s hilarious. So, yeah. But Prince, like, how are we feeling? We spoke, I think it was on maybe day two of agency a couple of days ago. Um, I don’t know if they’d sign Duncan Robinson then or not, but um, how are you feeling about the off season overall so far? And, um, I know you’re a bit upset about the Malik situation and losing him, but how you feeling now? Well, um, right now the offseason is great, but for Malik sometimes, well, I hope we can sign him back on, uh, Thank you, Sarah. I hope we can sign him back on a minimum if he does uh doesn’t get found guilty. But um if he does, well, we just got to let things happen because that’s how it works. He did that to himself. So, I feel like within everything um hopefully we can sign him back to a minimum. That’s at least what I want because I’m on his Snapchat and he’s been posting a whole lot and I was like, that’s pretty crazy. But hey, he’s still shooting. It was a video of him shooting and I was like, well, hopefully we can sign him back on a minimum. But um right now um I’m thinking about Malik Monk. I really really hope that we can get him. I mean he’s great. And uh to get him that will be great. Um I’m not so sure about John Collins. I’m not so sure if he’s going to come or not. I don’t think he’s going to come but if he does then um he’s he will definitely be great especially behind Kade and them. So,
can I ask you this, Prince, because a lot of people, like on some of my videos I’ve done in the past couple of days talking about John Collins,
I think you’re going to differ to me, but a lot of people have said
I’m insane for saying Tobias would still start over Collins. People lot people are saying to me, no, John Collins is a better player. He’s his stats are better. Um, he’s younger. And I know you’re not the biggest Tobias fan, even though you like him. What is your thoughts? because I think Tobias would start every day of the week, but that’s just my opinion.
That is extremely interesting. Um I’ve never really thought about that that way, but um I definitely think John Collins would start over Tobias. I just feel like over Yes. I feel like
Yeah. Yeah.
Overall, he’s a better player from my eyes. But um at the same time, I feel like like the first few I feel like he would have to show himself in Detroit and how he works with the rotation before he becomes a starter in Detroit. But um I think until then Tobias would be but I feel like it would be interchangeable because Tobias on some days can be better than John Collins without a doubt with in my mind. But I feel like John Collins over time will start over Tobias because and I don’t think this year he’s going to have a great year. I know that’s kind of crazy and he’s still particularly not that old but at the same time I feel like
Tobias might
Yes. I feel like Tobias won’t be as good as he was last year. So yeah, so I feel like um definitely John Collins would start over him. Maybe to me, but first few weeks maybe not. Maybe not.
See, that’s what So I think that’s where I’m at. I’m like I can’t imagine John Collins coming in after being on one of the worst teams in the NBA and I think he came off the bench sometimes with the Jazz coming in and starting over Tobias day one. Maybe I should have clarified that question. Maybe that’s why people are pushing back at me because I’m not being I’m saying Tobias is the opening day start and Collins has got to like take it from him. But
anyway, it doesn’t really matter that much. I just was interested to hear your thoughts because I know Tobias is always a fun topic to discuss with you. Um
I know I just I know we just covered this question, but I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this. Um Oh, I think you actually answered it. Did I Did you say you would prefer Monk over John Collins out of those two players? Yeah, I feel like Yeah, I choose Monk over John Collins, but I still feel like John Collins would be a better role player than Monk.
So, we’ve got a question here from Great Beard 78. Can we still I assume he means Obie topping Obie to now I’m saying toppings. So, with what’s going on in Indiana, I don’t know if we can get Obby topping at all, but obviously they lost Miles Turner in a crazy deal to the Bucks. They could be looking to now like kind of the the paces have never tanked. Ben Mathan’s actually the highest pick they’ve ever gotten, pick six in their franchise, but maybe they could be looking to move off someone like an Obby Toppen would personally like I would I think Obi Toppin I would probably prefer him maybe over like John Collins and definitely some of the other options at the four I covered at the top of the show in like Trey L and um those types of vetmin guys. Would you be for that if they could get Obby Toppin?
No, of course. Of course. Um, see, I feel like Obie Toppin and Malik Monk are probably the best people that we can get out of this signing trade. And I feel like John Collins is great, too, but I feel like he’d definitely be third for me. But I feel like with Obi Toppin, it would be very hard to get him. But at the same time, I feel like at the same time, we have the assets to get him. Like especially when it comes to all that money. How much money did we get from that signing trade?
So, we can that I’m glad you brought that up because I should have clarified that. It’s we can trade. We’re just sending out Dennis Shruda without adding other players in. We can take back someone on a salary of $22 million or less for next season. So, Obie, I’m pretty sure definitely fits into that. And there’s the other player who fits into that that’s really interesting is um PJ Washington. Not sure if he’s even remotely available, but um that’s another guy um alongside Pop and I would love to somehow get. Yeah. So, I feel like Obie Toppen would be great, but at the same time, I also think how would he fit onto our team for me? Like at the same time, Yeah. because he’s in the See, personally, I didn’t want any Pacers, but if it was me, I would definitely take Obi Toppin because especially from his performance in the finals, I saw it and I liked it and I was like, but would number one, would he come to the Pistons? Don’t think so. Don’t think we would probably try to get him either. But it’s definitely a thought, but at the same time, would he fit for our team? That’s that’s my question. I think he so we’ll talk I think he would probably replace to buy like if you trade for Obie Topphen in that three team trade I’m assuming the Pistons would have to give up one of the Pistons or Kings is going to have to give the Pacers something to move from Tophin who was awesome for them. So I think you would be bringing him in investing in him as you’re probably one day you’re starting for unless like like just just as how things would look right now like he would probably start behind Tobias and then those two you know if Obi outperformed him he would start and then maybe long-term Obie’s you’re starting for um so I think that if the Pistons were to bring Tophen in it would probably with an eye for him to replace Tobias or maybe he would just start over Tobias from day one. I I don’t know. But I think that’s how it would look. But um yeah, I feel like Tophin might be a little bit tricky to get cuz he was awesome for the Pacers. And I can’t imagine being a Pacers fan, you lose Miles Turner, Hallebertton out, then your front office trades away another star from like like in terms of role star role players, he was awesome. Like I would be so upset as a fan. Like PR for the Pacers would not be good. Um but Prince, um we got another couple of minutes here before I go to Sarah. Um we’ve Do you have any thoughts on anything else in the offseason really? We can talk about summer league. I haven’t touched on any of that. Uh the draft Chaz Laneir, not sure if you have any thoughts on him. Any anything on B Paul or I know we’ve obviously signed two Michigan guys and you’re a big Wolverines fan. So
yeah. Um, I feel like Bball Ball was not a good sign. And I know that’s kind of crazy, but at the same time, his playoff performance was great, but Bball Ball Paul, I didn’t like it. I feel like we could have got a lot of Uhoh. Uhoh.
All right. That’s Paul.
That’s B.
Like, Prince. I feel like we could have got a lot of more people for that amount of money, especially stretch bigs for the amount that we gave Ballpaw. And I feel like, yeah, Bball Paul is a great guy and he probably wanted to stay for the Pistons, but I don’t know. I just don’t think that Bball Paul is all that. I feel like we could have got somebody else. But at the same time, hopefully he’ll have that same performance that he had in the playoffs in the regular season and he could be a good big for us. But at the same time, Jaylen Duran, I feel like another thing, the young core next year, going into next year, that young core, I cannot wait. I can’t wait. So Jaylen Durn and Jay Ivy, they’re both going into their fourth year. Do you think Jay Ivy would start like when the season starts?
Yeah.
Yeah. Like well unless like so we actually don’t know. I think when Trajan last spoke before the draft, I don’t think Ivy was back to doing like full like like he’s not back to 100% yet. So but if he is like 100% like I think he starts. The only reason I don’t think he’d start is if that leg is still like, you know, bothering him for some reason, but obviously we don’t want that to be the case. So I I think he starts to answer your question.
Yeah. Yeah. So Cade, Ivy, Duran, Assar, Ron, the young core is going to go crazy, but at the same time, I feel like we can’t just have a young core. Of course, OKC did it, but I feel like every time we’re good, we always have a vet. So with that being said, I am supportive with Tobias staying on the team for next year. Um, hopefully he does better. Hopefully he does more. Hopefully he can actually shoot outside the perimeter. And I can’t wait. I can’t wait for it. And um, summer league, I’m not that stoked for summer league. I I can’t even lie. I hope we see some new jerseys, of course, but at the same time, I feel like Chaz Laneir, I just want to see his shooting and hopefully we can at least make the summer league playoff. But even still, that would be like something that can keep my mind on something while the Pistons are in the offseason. Cuz I feel like the Pistons offseason’s like worst saddest times of the year. It’s like you wake up. But um I think the Lions uh play in two, three weeks. So can’t wait to see that.
Detroit Lions.
Yeah, they play preseason. Um so they’re playing Yeah,
that’s come around.
Wow, that’s crazy. Yeah. So, they play the preseason at the end of July and they start the season around August if I’m not wrong. And um college football is coming back, too. So, I can’t wait for that. But if anything, Pistons hoops, I can’t wait for it. And I’m really excited to see everything going on, you know.
Let’s go, man. Well, Prince, tell the people where they can follow you because you’re always putting out some content. And for those that don’t know, Prince is Prince, how old are you? You’re like
I’m 14. You’re 14. Yeah.
Like coming up on these streams talking. So, Prince, tell the people they can find you on Instagram because I know you’re posting some piston stuff here and there.
Well, you guys can find me on Instagram at Detroit Made Prince on one word. Same thing with Twitter. And um I think I might start a YouTube channel. I think that’s also Detroit Made Prince. So, if anything, if you want to hear Pistons hoops, you want to see some clips me and Pistons Jack, definitely hit me up on Instagram. P Detroit Made Prince.
Yeah,
I love it. pop it in the chat as well because I think you for someone who’s 14 years old, you you talk me well. So, shout out to you, man.
Thank you.
All right. Appreciate you jumping on, brother, as always. And we’ll we’ll chat next week, my guy.
All right, man. Together all the time. All the time together.
Let’s go. All right. Let’s bring up Sarah. And uh for everyone in the chat, I am highlighting some comments here that we can go through, but um we’ve got Sarah and then Austin, we’ll go to you, my friend. excited to have you up as well. Sarah, how you been? We haven’t chatted since game six. Oh, wait. I think you’re on mute. Hang on. That’s my not my fault.
No, that’s me. That’s me, too.
All right.
Okay. Um, yeah. Well, I mean, 800 PM is 6 PM here, so sometimes it’s tight and I try to get home from work, but uh yeah, glad I could make it today.
Let’s go. And well, how So, like I said, we haven’t spoken since game six after that game, I think. So, how have you like how’s the off season been with what the team’s been up to? Um, obviously we’ve had some unfortunate news, there’s some exciting news, but how are you feeling overall about where the team’s at right now?
Um, so my opinions I’ve just discovered are completely based off of culture and personal. I I don’t know anything about contracts. I don’t know anything about money. That stuff confuses me like no other. It’s something I need to learn about better. But um for me, I feel like what we’ve done so far is good for what Tjan had planned. Like he had said, we’re not making any big moves. Um uh we just, you know, want to add to the depth. And I really think that we would have made some different moves if Beasley was not caught up in this whole thing. And that thing’s heartbreaking, but I’m kind of with Prince of like optimistic of like, okay, well, if he’s found not guilty, he can still play. And I mean that’s what he needs to do, you know, to pay off his debts. But um uh I really hope that uh I do hope that there’s like a chance that he could come back at a minimum. Um I am rooting for him again. Like Prince also said, it’s his fault, but uh we all make mistakes. So
yeah, like I haven’t spoken about it much because like I want to see like what happens if he’s actually what happens with the actual investigation before I like actually like but I think um the other stuff is just kind of sad even though like it’s like yes he’s made $60 million. He obviously
hasn’t spent it or whatever. It’s not not really my business but it seems like he’s had some financial issues. like it is I I just I personally just feel a bit sorry for him even if it is self-inflicted. So
yeah. Oh absolutely and because he is just a great person and I actually rewatched I watched I rewatched the Raptors Pistons games from November 25th. It was when Jaden Ivy had his winning gamewinner against them. And I rewatched it because I know that there’s been a lot of divide about I should Ivy stay should Ivy go? I’ve always been team Ivy stay because I feel like maybe we’ve I don’t know if you like if you presented me with his stats and said, “Should we go pick up this player?” I’d be like, “Yeah, especially in 30 games, you know.” But um so I rewatched that today and they were talking about how uh Greg Keler and Blah were talking about how Malik just brings such no matter if he has a good game or bad game, it’s his attitude that brings everyone up. And that’s how I see Malik. And uh yeah, some of us aren’t taught financial literacy and that’s okay. And you know, he’s going to learn hopefully learn from his mistakes, but I just hope that he’s not in again, I would feel really bad because I think that he brings a lot of joy
that I think he was especially in the first like 30 games of the season when like like I feel like he was huge his confidence because I feel like after the season the young had had before they had no confidence relative to like the NBA like they just they lost 28 games in a row. They won 14 games. It was a disaster like that. I feel like they needed someone to come in who win or lose was going to bring a good vibe, positive energy, and like hype them up. And I think that’s why like Malik on social media, like this might sound crazy, but I feel like him having such a presence and like posting about his teammates, hyping them up, commenting on their post, like bringing them out of their shells on social media, I genuinely think that like confidence plays out on the court and everything else that we don’t even see. So, um, that’s what that’s why I think it it is a shame to see what’s happened because I think he was huge in that first half of the season in particular, giving them the confidence to like believe in themselves and go and win eight or nine games in a row. And obviously, we know what happened in the playoffs. So,
yeah, he one of the first, but even when he’s on the bench, he’s one of the first guys up clapping when a great play happens. Like, he’s just,
you know, I think a good guy who’s in a bad situation. So hopefully that it’s not as bad as
the media is portraying it. Um but like you like you said, we’ll just wait and see what happens and then kind of go from there.
Yeah, I know. It’s um it’s it’s sad for sure. And the t the timing was of it all coming out. I feel like there’s something done on purpose, but I’m not saying it’s from the Pistons. I just regardless it’s just unfortunate situation but um maybe with since what’s happened then the Pistons have signed Carous Duncan Robertson they resign B they’re going to pull off a sign and trade here
I I don’t know if I said this off the top but I’m like 99% sure that’s it’s going to be a sign and trade with the like that’s happening. It just depends what comes back. Um somewhere exactly. So, how do you feel about with where we’re at right now at this point in the the off season in addressing some of the holes and going forward?
Yeah, personally, I’m more anxious about who we might lose this off seasonason, so who we gain, I’m okay with. Um, I love Libert. I I think that he thrived in Cleveland. I think that the Hawks were a bad fit for him. And I think he’s just one of those guys that needs a good fit. And I just think what better place than the Pistons because uh we really again our culture really is kind of pulling in guys. I mean our 2004 team didn’t have one star, we had five stars, you know, and uh six, seven stars you could argue and that’s kind of how I feel our culture still is. I mean we have Cade, but um you know we still we had a winning record I think this season with with games that Kade missed also. Um, so I think that Paul Reed, the signing from Paul Reed is amazing. I love him. I think that he just never gives up on the ball. I mean, the turnovers, the offensive rebounds, he never gives up on it. And I think just with a little bit of tweaking, he could really be um a great defender.
Yeah, I love how you bring up him like generating turnovers. Like he had like a stretch when Stu must have been injured and he was playing backup minutes. He was like getting like two to three steals a game and like a block or two and he would play like 12 minutes. Fullcourt pressure every possession. Like he really does and it’s just again like I think he earned it. I think he earned his contract. Um and I like Levert. Duncan Robinson I wasn’t thrilled about. I think only because I kind of reflected on it because I know I talked in the Pistons group chat a little bit about it but I think it was because I was expecting maybe the next signing to be a four. Um, yeah, another shooter. And, uh, but I think I just narrowed it down to I hated the Heat. I can’t stand the Heat. Um, so I think that
now I’m like, okay, like, but Duncan is not the Heat. Duncan is Duncan Robinson. I think that he could also thrive. And like you said, he moves like crazy. I mean, that was like a something I loved watching about Rip Hamilton is like he just constantly moves. And that’s going to be huge for spacing. No matter who he’s with on the floor, I think he can come in for anyone really. Yeah. No, I I love the Rip Hamilton Hamilton comparison. Like I think like having someone because I feel like even last season like when we were healthy, the team was fully healthy and we had Malik or Tim out there or both of them like sometimes the offense did still like in a half court. It was a grind like it would stagnate because I think Malik and Tim are more like catch and shoot guys. They do come off screens, but like I felt like and they would do handoffs and that kind of thing, but I feel like Duncan literally thrives in moving and constantly moving. Like that’s why I compared him a little bit to Steph in the way he moves around. Just from the the stuff I’ve watched so far, I think that’s huge in like helping keep the defense accountable and making sure our offense is still moving because that is still a little bit of a concern for me um just is the halfp pot offense. But we’ll we’ll see what happens there. So, I think that’s a great point from you. Um, I wanted to ask you this. I saw I can’t find who said it first in the chat, but someone brought up Bradley Beal. So, apparently, and I think I know your answer anyway, but I think it’s an interesting thing to talk about for a minute here. Bradley Beal, I think, is could be brought is going to be brought out maybe by the Suns.
I think he’s he has to give up 14 million of his 110 for them to actually do it. So, who knows if he’ll do that, but anyway, Bradley Bill to the Pistons. Um, I don’t love it. I think that he would still expect a lot of money and I think that we’d have to give up more than we should for him. I think, like I said, go earn it. I think I I want him to thrive. I’m not against anyone in the league. Like, I want him to thrive, but I don’t think Detroit’s where it should be because he also is in his I mean, the way that he’s portrayed and who he is, like he’s a star and we kind of got those already. So, he already has tried to work it out with Durant and Booker and that didn’t work. So, how would that I don’t I don’t know if it would translate very well to the way that what Detroit wants. Um, and I think that he should try somewhere else for I mean, a team that’s genuinely looking for a a one a number one. I think that’s where he should be.
Yeah. No, I’m with you. I don’t want him anywhere near to track. Um, how are we feeling? Is there any other topics you want to talk about, Sarah? Like I You have any thoughts on Chaz Luna? I I keep forgetting about whenever I post a death chart on Twitter, I keep forgetting about poor Chaz. I I just like I don’t know why, but
he’s brand new. That’s why. Um, but he he’s brand new and you know, I’m excited for him. My sister got into sports from I’m a little offended because I’ve been in sports my whole life. uh tried to make her a Pistons picture book when she was like four, trying to get her into it. But um she goes to college at uh Tennessee and she loved going to the basketball games and she was very excited to see him drafted here. Um I I’m excited about him. Um I think again it’s just how he meshes and I think that what based off what I’ve seen I think he will mesh well. I’m actually I’m rooting for Dennis Jenkins, our 2-way uh that we had last year. I watched him in the summer league. I think he did amazing. Um, I didn’t watch many G-League uh games this past year, but I think that he
he was really good and he’s a backup PG and I I love Sasser. I think that Sasser has uh great handles, can hit the three and plays great defense. I’m always team Sasser. Um I think him and him and Dennis grew up together actually. But uh Jenkins um is another guy I would be excited to see move up. I don’t think that we need to find more. Again, I think our focus needs to be on a four, but I don’t think we need to worry about that because I think both Zasser and Jenkins could thrive uh behind Cade. So,
I like it. Well, I’m excited to watch Jenkins. The summer league team is going to be fun. I feel like I don’t know why, but I feel like I’m I know like a fair bit about the six to eight players that are going to be there. So, that’s exciting.
Let’s You mentioned the the front court and your like concerns there a little bit. Um, let’s we’ll finish on this and then we’ll go to Austin. Um, I read out some vet minimum guys, uh, Chris Bush, Trey Lyles, and Professor Sure as their potential like backup.
They are backup fors, but also backup options with the with the trade that’s going on. Is there a name that jumps out to you? Like someone brought up Obie Tophin before, even if it’s like there’s been no reported interest, is there a name you have in mind? I think I think um from the list that you had posted about who we could get with the money, I think PJ Washington and Obi-Wan stuck out to me the most. Um of the three that you listed, I’d probably rank it uh Aua, Busher, Lyles. Um
really?
Yes. I think that Achua again is another guy who needs to find his fit. I don’t think that he’s um I think that he did again really well two years ago over the Knicks and then suddenly they bench him this season. I you know they’re figuring out their stuff. So um clearly it worked for them for some time but I think Oua could really thrive in the right environment. Um I I just like Bucher. Uh and then I I mean I do like Trey Lios. They could probably be interchangeable but so I guess out of the three I would pick a Chua. Um but overall
all three of them have like it’s definitely it’s funny. Precious would probably be last for me out of those three but like they all bring different like very different skill sets. So, um, I think they would all fill a need at the back four in a bit of a different way. So, I I mean, Precious is definitely the most athletic, probably the best rebounder, probably going to give you the most defensively, and he can do some stuff offensively. So, it’s interesting for sure.
Um,
I I I think again, for me, it’s all about culture, family, Pistons. You know, I would love to see Clintman do super well cuz that’s like something we don’t really see is like we don’t know we don’t really know his development this season. He was injured for a good part of it. We didn’t have a lot of opportunities where we had blowout games whether we could bring in our third, you know, string of guys, but um I’m I’m hoping that he could also just be someone that we could rely on at that position because I mean our young guys I love I love a young team. I mean, sometimes I look at the Clippers and I’m just like, how do you just root on?
It is fun cuz there the unknown all the time with the young guys,
which is like fun part and watching them grow up. But I love you brought up Bobby there because Bobb’s going to be playing summer league. I would assume he plays at least three games, probably four, maybe even the full five. And then he’s actually,
I believe, playing for Sweden in the Euro basket, which will be end of August. So that’ll be great for him. I don’t know anything about the Swiss team, but I assume he’ll be playing. So, um
I think it’s a team, but yeah. Uh what? Oh, I probably stuffed that up. That’s okay. I um I I know I’m looking forward to watching that actually. Um of course. And I know that there’s been a lot of you know, I feel like we’ve been so used to being the low team that we need to make a ton of changes and this year we haven’t. this year. I mean, I think about all the time like what if Tim Hardaway got called? Like what if they called that foul on Tim Hardway Jr.? Like what if,
you know, like what, you know, like what if what if we did, you know, this and this and this? Like we could have been really we we gave the Knicks the hardest time out of everyone. And uh I really like where we’re at and maybe just the fact that it’s kind of been quiet in some people’s definition of an offseason. Um
yeah,
I I like it. I’m again I’m looking I’m looking forward to it. I can’t wait for Detroit basketball. And uh yeah, and I mean and also living in Denver, um people are kind of crashing out over now about the Valentunist news. So he’s not he’s not coming, is he? He’s going to go.
No, he just he just said that he has committed to Panathanos. Um Wow.
And uh I Panthanos is a really fun team. I mean, done and some of the guys they have, but uh I I wish them the best. But it does for for Denver. It’s we we love DeAndre Jordan, but
yeah. No, that’s a that’s a huge loss for the Nuggets because they’ve had a good off season, but um
Sarah, thank you so much for jumping on. I’m gonna get to my man Austin. I can see Matt’s actually joined as well. So, it’s been awesome to have you on. We’ve missed having you on the stream. So, thank you for jumping.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to come a little more. So, amazing. Well, also, um, we will be going I’m pretty sure I’m going to be doing some sort of live thing for each of the summer league games. So, um, awesome.
That’ll be fun, too. So, thank you, Sarah. Catch you. Bye.
All right, Austin. I’ll get to you in literally one second. I just want to answer this question from Trevor. For future reference, where is the link to join or do you have to subscri subscribe somewhere to get it? So yeah, everyone joining today is a Piston Jack subscriber on Instagram which costs Australian dollars I think is $450 or $5 a month. We have a group chat there’s content over there and you can come on this stream. Uh so but Trevor we also other streams where you don’t have to be a subscriber after all the games uh during the season we did fan reacts. Anyone can join those. Um, sometimes on these streams, depending on how many people join, we might be able to fit some other people at the end, but I think today is going to be a full stream. So, uh, but feel free to message me on Twitter or anything Instagram if you want some more info. Um, but that’s the case with that. Let’s bring up Austin. Oh, sorry, Sarah. I don’t know. Here we go. Another person I’m very excited to chat to. I don’t when last time I spoke to you was probably in person when I saw your LCA
probably. It’s
getting some lunch.
It’s been a while. It It’s been a while, man.
Yeah, it’s been a while, dude. Uh
yeah, it you know, season keeps me busy, which is good. But man, if there’s a Pistons Jack reacts to summer league games, I’m down bad for that. Like, goodness gracious. Um
Yeah. No man, you know, it’s it’s been a I don’t know. It’s been a good summer because it’s like you can see the excitement with team growing and like with how free agency just went. I know it brought a lot of people down just at first like a lot of people were like you I saw a lot of comparisons of Tjan to uh to Troy Weaver and was like man come on let’s not go there. Like we saw what Troy Weaver did in oh my god the trade he made and like that report that came out that the Hawks had to call and be like wait are you sure about this like so I don’t want to hear anybody throw any kind of comparisons like that out there cuz I mean as it’s gone on we just keep seeing like okay you know you get those two guys now if you bring in like a John Collins or like a power I personally want a power forward for the team I think that that’s what they need that’s the position they need they don’t need another guard As much as Malik Monk would be cool, they just that one through three is filled three slots deep for each position. So
like I get small ball and shooting, but I I think they need they need a power forward and I think John Collins fits that. But also wouldn’t hate Trey Lyles either. Um has played with Cade before. Was probably one of like the better players for Cade’s game just in terms of, you know, his size and his ability to shoot the ball. So, I wouldn’t hate that either. But,
no, I I’m glad you brought up Trey L because um I agree with you like Cade’s rookie season like when they put Trey at the five like I like I remember clearly the Utah Jazz game. Uh Cade at the time I think it was a career best game. I think Stu must have been injured and Bagley, I’m not sure, but they basically play Trey Lars at the five
and there was just all this space for Cade and he had one of his best games as a rookie, like 29 points, maybe close to 10 assists, something like that. So, um I think Trey just as a backup for on a vet minimum would be a a really solid option.
That doesn’t kill. And like I think if you if I remember correctly, uh when they played in Sacramento against them when Ivy hit that gamewinner, Trey Lyles had like his best game. He was averaging like six points and I think he put up like 24 or something. Just couldn’t miss. Dude’s got the most deadly pump fake in the league. Like just insane.
Uh
that’s a deep cut. The Trey L.
The Trey L. You’re a die hard if you can think of that. You’ve been watching all the games.
Yeah, dude. Going back in time like Oh, the Trey Lyles po. Yeah. Anyways, um but no, man. Like I’m just I’m super excited, you know, like I think a lot of people are also forgetting just the leaps that a lot of the young guys are going to take, you know, that that one to two or like even for Assar coming in with a full off season, you know, being able to make adjustments to his game, like I think that not swinging and getting someone huge. Personally, and I think Sarah kind of touched on this, like I like a a young team. Um, you know, eventually you got to make that move, but like you look at a team like Indiana where their move was getting Pascal, but they kind of kept a lot of their core guys around. And, you know, I think that that’s kind of what the Pistons need to do. I think I think the the time of trading for a superstar and giving away all your prospects and giving away all your picks, like I think all of that like that’s I think that that time is coming to an end now in the NBA. I think we’ve seen it not work too many times now where teams are like, “Why would I give up four first round picks for a player that’s going to come here and maybe help me, you know, like it it just feel No, it’s a great point. It simply feels like it’s far too much of a risk with the way the cap’s set up now to invest because normally when you go to trade for that superstar, you’ve already probably got a max guy on your roster and you pretty much got to trade everything out for one player that could have an injury or if the fit between your two stars isn’t ideal or you might not be able to surround them. You literally just end up in this situation where your optionality is like gone. And like like you said, there is this fine line of like I think we all know that the Pistons do need to make some sort of move. But from memory, did the Pacers even give up much for Pascal? Like I know I think so,
but I think because he was on expiring, they were able to get him and like
I don’t know. I don’t
Was Bruce Brown involved with that trade? I think potentially
I want to say Bruce Brown was in that in that trade
because I think a lot of fans will use the Seakum one as a a move that the Pacers went all in for like
um and be like no we need to do this now but I think from memory the Pacers just capitalized on Sakam’s contract situation with uh the the Raptor and that that’s a whole other po a whole other part of it is like if you’re trading for a player like that on an expiring giving up. I mean, a lot of times teams don’t give up a lot, but like you have to make sure that the player that you’re trading for, if you’re giving up picks, is going to stay with you long term. Like,
you know, if you bring in somebody for two years and you give up high draft picks and they leave after two years and you got nothing, like
I don’t know. It’s
Well, this was the trade. So, I don’t know why the YouTube comments are so big now, but something’s up there. Anyway, Pacers sent the Pacers got Sakum for Bruce Brown, Jordan Noir, and three firsts. Three first. Wow.
That
in my opinion, with the young talent the Pistons have, no one there equates to a Jaden Ivy, a Ron, and a saf like Bruce Brown was a really solid role player who just won a championship, but like I mean
they’ve really just done some salary there to make the salary in three. Like it’s not like that is a technically an all-in move maybe, but it’s not like
it’s not like they’ve traded out their whole half their young core and picks.
The way that I say it’s an all-in move is that he fit them perfectly. Like he he fit that team as to what they actually needed. And you know, I know we both kind of share the sentiment that like we hate the Pacers. Like, but I’m not I’m not going to lie, like them getting to the finals and playing how they played, like I I respected them a little bit more. It was hard to be like, man, this team, they do all this talking and they don’t do anything. It’s like, oh well, they made the finals and they took the Thunder to seven games and I think if Hallebertton doesn’t get hurt, I think they win game seven. Like, I I really do. And um yeah, I don’t know. Like you look at like people like to use the Thunder as a example for how you should build a team, but I just think they’re the outlier because they had so many like they were able to trade Russ, they were able to trade Paul George, you know, Steven Adams, like they had players that people wanted and were willing to give up large like a lot big packages for. So, the fact that, you know, I don’t think the Pistons are in a spot to do anything like that yet, like, and not I don’t think many teams even are in a spot to trade two MVP caliber players for huge deals. So, um I just I don’t know. I I don’t mind the offseason so far. Um I didn’t absolutely love the two picks and it’s not that I don’t love the players. I just I don’t know. I just didn’t like the fits. But I think it I’ll come around to that eventually. Um,
I think Carrison Carrison Yeah. I think I think part of me had like a little bit higher hopes, but like at the same time like, okay, well, what were we really expecting them to do? And the Malik Beasley situation kind of screwed him there, you know, to come out the day before free agency and they end up, you know, having to to pivot and go to Duncan Robinson is not a bad second option for a three-point shooter. It’s just if they make the playoffs, I think he gets played out of some games just because of his defense. That’s just But also him and Caris, I think this is the other thing, very tradable contracts. Um, you know, that’s that’s the thing that I think Trejan has done a really good job of is he’s like these he’s paying a lot, but also the way that he’s lining up the contracts. You could trade three or four players and, you know, get a couple pieces back. I don’t know. But um I’m just I just know that I’m excited for for next season and excited to see how Cade plays and excited for Jaden Ivy to come back. I think you know a lot of people are overlooking just how well he progressed until he got hurt. I mean, dude was shooting I I don’t remember exactly what his three-point percentage was when he left,
but yeah. I mean, come on. Like, and he was taking volume threes. Like, he wasn’t just shooting one or two a game. Like, he was pulling. And so, like, I think him with Robinson and Levert being able to create kind of with that second unit, it’s going to be I’m excited. You know, we haven’t really gotten the chance to kind of talk about what next year looks like. So, um, it’s going to be good. Well, I promise you we’re gonna have all of August, September on these streams to get excited for next season. But I’m like, just to round out the signings like the I actually kind of like the Robinson one based off the circumstances that were dealt with the Beasley and Counc I kind of already shared my thoughts, but that’s one that I’ve had to warm to and I can kind of see the vision, but so I can see why fans are a bit underwhelmed. Some of it I do think as well is we’ll see what happens with this sign and trade, but sometimes it can just be the sequencing of how things are announced. Like Caris Le went be more Paul first then Caris I can see why fans like what’s going on but then like a week later when we find out what we got with Dennis Shro to sign a trade and like once everything’s there I think you can um people will feel a bit better for those that aren’t feeling great. So, look,
any other thoughts, Austin, before I before I go to Maddie?
No, man. Um, it’s just it’s it’s good to be back. Um, really looking forward to next season. Uh, you know, I think that kind of primed to I, you know, the the East was open there for a minute. I think I like really like what the Magic have done. Um, I think they’ve made some good good moves. Um, somebody else just made some good trades.
Yeah. Yeah. The Hawks are looking good.
Um, so, you know, well, some teams are on the way out, some teams are on the way up, and hopefully we’re on, you know, one of those teams on the way up and and can make some noise. You know, luckily we got Kade as our our main guy, man. And I I I don’t know. I just think he’s right there. I think he’s he’s on the he’s on the cusp of becoming like a superstar. So,
it’s good to see. And I think the role players are really going to take a step up. And um real quick, do you know if if Ron’s playing in summer league? I haven’t seen anything on that.
Trejan said him and Bobby are in his
I’ll be excited. I’ll be excited for that.
Yeah, I think I don’t know how many games, but I would say if Ron will play two. Yeah, it’ be just a gut feel. Or if he scores like 40 in game one, maybe they just shut him down. But um yeah, he well Trajan said it. So the the roster the future rosters haven’t been announced, but it sounds like we’re going to have Ron, Bobby, uh some of the cruise guys from last season, Ron Harper, Dennis Jenkins, um a few others, and there’s going to be some guys to watch. Obviously Chazir. So I think we’re gonna have a sneaky first few games going to be pretty fun even though we don’t have that traditional top five pick we’re used to.
Yeah. Isn’t it weird, man? It’s weird. It was I think the like a couple days before the the draft I was like wait when is the draft again? Like I don’t even remember and like who should I be looking at? Like it’s just a really weird feeling and
you know
strange. Yeah. So um but no I’ll let you I know you got people. So
no last thing I want to ask you. So I know you were with Deon Booker the other day.
Yeah.
Did you put in a a recruiting pitch for us? Uh, so I didn’t I didn’t personally know. Uh, but somebody was was walking by him and they, you know, they were like, “Hey man, you know, you gota you got to come to Detroit next year.” And his response to them was, “Yeah, I think we play you guys in preseason.” So, you know, uh, that’s a good comeback.
Yeah, pretty good comeback. Um, but but you know, the dream would would be awesome, but no, good guy and, uh, good times. So, um, appreciate you having me on. I’ll let you get to other people. I won’t take up all the time. So,
no, it’s been awesome to have you back on, brother, and excited to chat to you in the next next week or two with these summer league games as well. We’ll talk.
Yeah, for sure.
Catch you, brother.
See you, man. All right, let’s bring up Maddie. He’s come in, swooped in towards the end of the show. Absolutely stoked to have him on. How are you, brother?
Not bad. Not bad. How you doing?
I’m good. I’m good. We’re having fun today. heaps to talk. Here today was that it just dropped out.
I said you had a lot of people on here today.
Yeah, we’re we’re growing. It’s been it’s been a fun week. I think the off season’s definitely helped. Everyone’s tapped in. So, no, it’s been it’s been cool. Yeah, I’m I’m getting more and more excited about uh Duncan Robinson. I’m not going to lie. I watched the same video that you and Tom did all those three and but uh I don’t know if you’re on uh like NBA Reddit at all.
I’m not really on Reddit to be honest at all. It’s just something I’ve never dived into, but I know there’s good stuff on there.
Right. I went so I went uh to the Heat subreddit and I was basically like tell me everything you know about Duncan Robinson. I know he’s been there for years. They had a lot of runs and my phone blew up. I’m not even kidding. For a day and a half. well over 100 replies and uh so I wrote
saying I’m intrigued. Yeah, let’s go.
They said he never stops moving off the ball. Like he will just go go like you guys said uh the Rip Hamilton comparisons or whatever is kind of what I got from that and uh they said like he can hit the craziest contested shots
and uh so I can’t wait for that. Yeah. No, I I love hearing this because like sometimes when a player leaves a fan base, they can be quite negative about them and be like, “Thank God they’re gone.” So, this is good.
Yeah, they were honestly I was like, “Man, I didn’t know they loved him that much, but they he was like really a fan favorite.”
Um, they said he can get super hot, but also like super cold at times, which that’s a, you know, that’s just a shooter.
Uh, so his nickname, the junkyard dog. I’m like, man, that’s perfect. He’s gonna fit right into the dog pound. Dude, imagine dunking in with the dog pound.
Oh, man. People Robinson.
Yeah. When they got into it and uh Ron Holland retweeted it. He’s like, “Good. Now that we’re teammates, I can tell him how much that hurt.” Because he like threw him that was great. And uh so apparently there’s this thing where he had a great game on his birthday once. Ever since then they tell him happy birthday before every game I guess cuz like thing was saying happy birthday and I look it up. I’m like it ain’t his birthday. What are they talking? So I asked him like what’s the story behind that? And apparently it’s a whole thing that we got to keep going.
All right we’ll get that. I’m gonna I’m gonna work that into some of my posts for him.
This is good. Uh,
this is good intel.
Said he get they said he gets a terrible whistle on both ends. And when he said that he’s basically like that means he’s a Piston. I did. I actually It’s funny you say that. I think um from stuff I saw apparently yeah he gets called for a lot of fouls on defense.
They said basically he can get mangled on one end, no call, then on the other end he breeze on a guy and they call him for it. Yeah,
I already said I was see the uh bigger staff technical files coming. Exactly. And uh they said he’s a great mate playing or not playing, he always stayed professional, you know, up and down. He was always he always stayed ready. So I was like, okay, that’s always good. Definitely. No, cuz we like
culture is massive. I like it before honestly like before last season like I’m not gonna lie like sometimes I thought culture was just a bit of like a thing that everyone says and it like obviously matters but after seeing how much like bringing in JB last season bringing in Tobias Traan coming in like you can really see the impact culture has on like just the consistency of a team’s performance. So like that’s that’s good to hear. Fontio’s like goodbye post or whatever and he like he said that straight out. He said, “Thank you to the coaching staff for changing the culture and all that.” So that speaks volume.
I need to I didn’t read that properly. I just read the first bit. That’s that’s awesome to hear.
Yeah. Yeah. He like thanked the teammates, the coaching staff and all that. So that’s that was happening before. Like I know you seen the Troy, man. No, that’s that was not a thing.
They also said he’s not a great defender, but he gives he does give effort. And that was honestly not a great defender, but he tried.
Yeah, but he’s got Exactly. No, and I like that you brought that’s a great point and I think like I mean, yes, he’s not a great defender, but I feel like we’re bringing him in specifically to replace Malik. Like, I know Malik the situation, whatever’s going to happen there, but they can’t rely on him being on the team next season. So like
right
yes like
Duncan can’t defend but you know we’ve seen Malik struggle and at least Duncan 6’8 like
yeah exactly got more size and I feel like in bigger staff’s system he’s good he gets the best out of defenders he really does
great point from you definitely he gets the best out of anyone so that’s a definitely something we haven’t thought about
I haven’t
and uh so they said a lot of people said that he’s going to look really good next to Kate that’s one thing a a lot of people kind of brought up is cake like they’ll they’re going to help each other out and I was like that’s what we’re looking for basically. Great. Another great point. Like he I’m trying to think who Duncan’s play. Obviously played with Jimmy Butler,
but like they he hasn’t played with like a point guard like Kade.
Like who have they like Kyle Lowry, Tyler Hero, like
he he hasn’t actually played with like a like Bam’s a really good playmaking big, but he’s not a point guard. Like, so I’m really that’s a great point that like I probably haven’t spoken about enough is like how much
Duncan’s going to thrive off of Cade and how much Duncan will help Kade. That’s going to be
really cool.
They kind of said he’s never played with a playmaker like Kade. And I was trying to think who is like the and uh they also said is going to love him. They said he had great handoff chemistry with Bam coming off screens and all that. Even that’s gonna open up stuff for Duran. No, that’s I’m I’m really excited to watch that because in that video you’re talking about the 30 minute one, there’s so many times he’s coming off handoffs with Bam or running stuff with him that I’m like
like JD’s going to be able to replicate a fair bit of this,
right? That’s what I think too. And like JD, he was already showing more in the passing game. So if you give them a guy that’s already used to operating like that, that they’re just going to help each other out. No, this is awesome. Thanks for the intel. Is there still more?
They paragraphs they were writing. I was like, guy,
well,
he’s got a decent passing game. He’s worked on it and they really said he kind of worked on something every offseason like he’s always trying to do something to fill in his in between game. That’s no I so I had also seen some stuff I think um um on Twitter Nikkias Duncan um I’m not sure if you follow him but he’s really good like X’s and O’s and he’s like I think he’s actually a heat fan and I saw him talking about Duncan improving like he’s like just like he’s not a guy that’s going to create off the dribble but just been able to like take two or three dribbles hit a floater like I spoke about like his three-point shooting off the dribble he shot like 40% which is pretty ridiculous. Um, and then the playmaking as well. You brought that up. Like I’ve read some stuff about that too. So, um, as much as we love Malik and Tim, like I feel like Duncan probably is a a bit bit of a better playmaker and a guy who can find an open man on a drive, you know, cuz Malik as far as playmaking, he wasn’t the greatest or whatever. I think Duncan will have a little edge on that.
Yeah, this is great. You’re getting me too hyped over here,
right? I’m not even because I reshared it to the uh Pistons Reddit and I was like I basically, you know, asked how good he was and everyone was like, “Wow, I’m this is like brought my excitement to a 10 because
they were like gushing over this guy.” So, I’m like, you know, maybe this is for the better. You never know.
I agree. No, I’m like like I said, like the Duncan signing after actually going and just digging a little bit, looking at his game, just watching highlights, I’m like, “Wow, this is a player we haven’t had on the roster with this young core.” I feel pretty safe in saying that like yes, we’ve had Malik and Tim who are great shooters in their own right, but they’re a little bit shorter and they kind of get to their shot in a different way and I think Duncan brings a bit of a unique skill set we haven’t had. So, really excited to see how he works. Right. Right. Yeah, I think he’s going to be a good fit, honestly. And they said he stays healthy, so you’re going to get at least 70 games from him, you know. So,
Oh, another great thing. I wasn’t sure. I haven’t really looked at his games played. So that’s awesome. That that’s good cuz that’s that’s another thing Tan at his first ever press conference back in I don’t know June 2024 like he spoke about prioritizing players that actually can stay on the floor because the Pistons in the Yeah. Always injured
availability. Exactly. you need. Well, that’s this is some I’m Have you got more? I can see you looking down. All I got or whatever there. I could probably go through there for I’m not even kidding. Just get notes for days because they have like man they answered. That’s that’s for sure.
That’s awesome though. Maybe I need to get on Reddit. A lot some people have said like Pistons Reddit’s awesome. I’ve just like never
I’ve just never really used Reddit for some reason. I just haven’t. So like maybe I need to dive in there because that’s some good intel. Right. Right.
I was surprised how much they answered. I’m not even gonna lie. And just it’s also positive.
Right.
I know the defense, but like I think we already all knew that anyway.
Like if Duncan if Duncan could defend, he’s going to cost like 30 million a year or 25.
You know what I’m saying? So,
and one thing I was going to ask is how does like a partially guaranteed year work? Does that mean at the
basically Yeah. I’m not I’m learning I’ve learned a lot this week from having Kyle on the show. Essentially though, the Pistons So they could trade him to a team and say they trade him this season, then that team could maybe wave if they wanted to wave him or something like you only have to pay he’s only guaranteed 9 million.
He’s I think that so he’s partially guaranteed nine of the 16 million in year two and then the third year is fully non-g guaranteed. So that team say they there’s probably some other implications to it. Someone might know in the chat, but if they that team wanted to wave him, they only owe him 9 million for year two and nothing for year three.
So it’s kind of like it’s because year three is non-g guaranteed. But it’s like say say he performs and like exceeds expectations and he’s incredible, then it’s like well you’ve locked him up on this deal and you can stick to it. That’s my like understanding of it if that makes sense. Okay.
Well, it’s kind of it’s a good it’s a good like Traan doing that is a well structured deal. I think that made a lot of the fan base feel a lot better because I think when everyone saw four years uh three years 48 everyone’s like 60 million per year fully guaranteed. that might be hard to trade if he struggles this year, but because of those other things, it’s it’s really only a one and a half year deal,
right? Right.
And even like Paul Reed, he was on a non-g guaranteed last year and it was like we cut him and then resigned him like to save money.
So, could we even like a situation like that with him down the line or
I think so. I think so. This is where it gets I’m like I’m just guessing at this point. like this new cap. I didn’t even understand it before all the changes, but like um I think you could do something like that. Like maybe not this season. Maybe it’d have to be next or
Right. Yeah. Yeah.
It’d be in the year two when there that partial guarantee actually applies, but
Okay. Yeah. I’m kind of just guessing here. Uh you those deals go down Sunday or whatever. Uh wait, which deals is this? Uh, like because I know there’s a lot of pending like supposedly that Durant deal might turn into a 17 trade or something like now.
Would that be July 6th for you on Sunday or is that Monday?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I forgot
what? I think July 6. So when we’ve had Carl on during the week, he keeps talking about July 6 is some certain day where a lot of these sign and trades I think that’s when the sign and trades can become official and actually be processed. Like so I think that’s some sort of milestone for teams to get deals done. But then I’ve heard the the Kaminga thing could drag out to July 10th with his So I think we were never going to see any of these signing trades officially announced until July 6th because of that thing I just spoke about. But that seems to be a big day where we’re going to obviously if we haven’t found out about this Malik Monk thing or whatever, that will be a high chance we see the result then.
Right. Right. And I’m with Austin. I think I would rather have a power forward than Malik Monk. Honestly,
yeah. No, I I think um I think that should probably be the priority. I I’m if if they come out with Mal uh Monk, I still will be happy because I think he’s a really dynamic player.
But I do think like the obvious hole is that backup for so um or just getting another forward in general as a four, someone who can play help Tobias out. Um so we’ll see. So you you would be you’d be down for John Collins, someone like that.
Yeah, I would definitely be down for a for sure. Yeah, I think I’m warming to John Collins, I must admit. Started this like a week ago, I probably wasn’t very interested, but now seeing how FR’s played out a bit, I think um him on a one-year deal, he’d come in looking to get another payday reinvigorated on a playoff team. So, I think it could really work and maybe he’s the long-term solution at the four. You never know. So, um yeah. Well, Matty, anything else you got for your chess? I appreciate you coming to the stream with all that intel because I certainly didn’t know half of that stuff. So, that was awesome. Figured I’d go right to the die hards, you know, cuz that no one knows better than them. No, exactly. Right. That was that was awesome. I’m I’m just like I said, I’m so happy to hear it’s so positive. That love down there. But he he is like the alltime leader, I think, for three-pointers. So, I could see why. Yeah.
He was such a fan.
Yeah. You know, I think the game he actually became that was against Detroit in our horrible season. Do you remember the game Bam hit that crazy game winner?
Yeah.
Like from that I think that was the game Duncan Robinson also went off and broke the record or set the record for most just a little nugget there. Yeah. Always against us. But uh All right, Jack. I’ll let you uh get to the next person or whatever. End here. Whatever. Uh
you’re a legend, Maddie. Appreciate you, like I said, coming up with that intel and always good to chat with you, my brother.
Right. Right. Uh excited for summer league and uh hoping Chaz balls out. Honestly, I reckon he will. He’s going to give us a game or two where we’re going crazy. Maybe all four goes off.
That’d be dope if he just goes off the whole summer league. I’m hoping Ron at least at least two games.
Yeah, I think I’m hoping so too. Ron two games and Bobby. I’d love if Bobby played all four or five.
Yeah, I’d like to see I’d like to play play all of them.
Yeah. So, let’s see. I feel like Ron, you already know Ron in that first game. He’s going to get up like 20 shots. He’s he was trying to do it last year like Oh, he’s that’s going to be fun. But all right, Jack. I talk to you later and go Pistons.
Got you, brother. See you later. All right. Uh, I’m just going to quickly scan the chat before we wrap this one up. Been an awesome stream. Thank you to everyone that joined. Uh, we had Tom first, then we had Prince, Sarah, Maddie, Austin. Really good conversation and love hearing everyone’s insights on the team. Um, and yeah, we still got a fair bit to play out with this off season for our Pistons. So, um, things could get even more exciting, uh, especially obviously with this Dennis Schroer deal. I might actually check to see if any news has broke since I’ve been streaming. I assume someone would have put it in the chat. What do we got here? Doesn’t look like it. Just that Valentunis is not going back to the Nuggets. Uh, you know what? I’m seeing some stuff in here. I’m not going to bring up a comment on the screen. Um, but the Hawks, you know what? Like I’m not sold they’re better than us next season. Like I I I’m they defensively their wings scam me. Dyson Daniels, Jaylen Johnson, even though Jaylen Johnson I think from listen when if you listen to like like someone like Sam Versini who I really respect game theory Paul him and Bryce Simon when Jayen Johnson his defense has been a big area for improvement but he isn’t a good athlete. They do have Rous. Like they do have some stuff there. Like I can see why people are excited. But I’m not like Chris Pzingis. Like he’s not he’s going to play like 30 games. Like when he plays I’m sure he’s going to have 20 games with the Hawks or where if they look unstoppable, but to be honest like rely on Chris Pzingis. I get why the Hawks did it, don’t get me wrong. Like he’s on an expiring. You’re going to go for it. Um but I’m just not sold they’re like going to be better than the Pistons. Like I’m really not. But um I just wanted to address that. Maybe I’m a hater, but I just I don’t I I think I have a lot more stock in what we have with our young core than what the Hawks have added. Yeah, Hawks are good on paper. I agree with that. And I get why people are saying, “Damn, the Magic and Nuggets and Rockets. They’re kind of the four teams that you’ll see people saying they’ve had an awesome off seasonason because they kind of have, but just when it actually gets to it, I’m not sold. The uh the Hawks are better than the Pistons. Um but I saw someone someone had a question here about Ray J. Graham Piss and Jack. Do you like Detroit pizza? I love Detroit pizza. Detroit style pizza. I’ve had um I had Buddies. I’ve had Jets. I’ve had Little Caesars. I actually had Little Caesars when I was stuck in Dallas. A flight got stuck there and I got Little Caesars. So Buddies was the best. I’m not going to lie. Little Caesars was decent. Jets. I actually I ordered it once when I was in Detroit. I’ve heard great reviews. They stuffed up my order. I actually just wanted like a pepperoni, but they sent it to me with no salami, so it was just like a cheese pizza. Like it was nice, but it was like a bit plain. So, um, but I would say buddies is number one. Like I’ve been to Detroit twice and I’ve gotten buddies I think three times in those two trips. So, um, and I’ve had Jets once and like I said, Louis. Yeah. No, I genuinely mean this. Like Detroit style pizza is easily my favorite style of pizza. I’m not just glazing Detroit. It It is genuinely the best. And shout out to um Brian Winhorse who actually said on night one of the draft uh Detroit style pizza is his favorite pizza. So he said it’s better than Chicago deep dish pizza. I think that’s what you call it. So shout out to Wendy the legend. Uh I had a couple more questions here. Uh saved the bionic bass player. Why do you want to replace Tobias? I don’t want to replace Tobias. I think some people might be uh looking to replace Tobias because of his age. Um and maybe they don’t value what he brings maybe defensively as much as some others. Maybe he did have some moments where he couldn’t hit shots. So, um I don’t want to replace Tobias unless it’s going out and getting your long-term solution at the four. Like I certainly wouldn’t trade Tobias for John Collins. like I I generally wouldn’t because I think Tobias is what he brings as a vet and in that locker room is crucial. Um but if you were to add John Collins in a three-team trade then if John Collins was outperforming Tobias to start the season then I would be okay. It makes sense to put Tobias to the bench. But um that’s kind of my thoughts on that. Maybe I’m I’m missing some stuff in the chat. That’s my response. Uh is it just me insight with T? Will Ron Harper be better than his brother Dylan? Uh, I think that’s going to be a stretch, but I will say Ron Harper Jr. had some huge games with the Cruz. He can shoot. He only got action for the Pistons in that last game against the Bucks, game 82, and um he look, he didn’t shoot it well, but that was a bit of a game that was all over the place, but he actually set the record. I think he had a game, let me bring it up because I’m I’m excit Ron Harper Jr. He’s a guy I’m really excited to watch actually at Summer League behind obviously the the obvious guys we’re all keen to watch. But Ron Harper Jr. um I’m pretty sure he hit like 12 threes in a game but set a G-League record last season. He hit 11 threes in a game uh which was a franchise record for the Crews. So he’s a shooter volume shooter. Uh and I do know the Pistons really like him. So obviously there’s ties. I think his dad Rowan Herac played for the Pistons at some point. think he grew up in Detroit around um the going to work team. So there’s some Detroit ties to him as well. So rooting for him for sure. Um Ray J Graham once again, do we like the Pistons moves and how is how will Ivy help the team? Can Duran develop a hook shot? I think JD’s touch around the room’s actually gotten a lot better. I don’t think anyone these days really goes to the hook shot as like a real go-to move. Um but I I think his touch around the rim has gotten better. Um it can still improve. Uh, and look, to be honest, like I’m going to judge the success of the Pistons off seasonason once we see the outcome of this three-team trade. But I mean, considering the circumstances, I wouldn’t bring back Malik Beasley. We know what’s happened there. I’ve spoken about that enough. I think Duncan Robinson is a pretty solid way to replace Beasley. Um, I, like I’ve said million times, I don’t think Bees was going to be able to replace what he did last year. That was truly like potentially an outlier season. Maybe he could, but um I I think the moves are solid. I think Caris Levert, whilst he doesn’t bring the shooting Tim Hardway Junior brought, he brings more off the dribble, he’s two or three inches taller, bit better on defense. Uh and I think he can, I don’t know if I mentioned it, but create his shot a bit better. Uh he has really good pull-up numbers. Caris, he shot like 36% on pull-up threes, which is really good. 40% on pull-up twos, which is a really solid number. Um so he can get to his shot and give Kade and Ji some relief. Um, so I think I think it’s been a solid off season that but I think um we will see. They definitely need to find a backup for like I I believe in Bobby Clintman, but I still think he’s more of a project. Um hopefully he can prove me wrong. I would love that. Um so I think it’s like it’s a solid off season for me so far. Um and and we’ll see what happens. Uh what else? H Pistons next. I wanted to get this one. So this is going back a bit when Troy Weaver came up for a second, but Jack that Derek Queen trade Troy did gave me flashbacks to the Stewart trade. Love the player, but the process to get them was insane. I think even the so like I agree this is the whole thing with Troy like so like Troy brought in he drafted all the best talent on this team. Um well he didn’t draft Ron Holland but um Assar Kate Ivy Jaylen Duran Isaiah Stewart he drafted all of them and made the moves to get them where there was trades required. No one questions his eye for talent. I don’t think like I think everyone’s happy with the draft picks he made. But like you said, Pistons next. It’s the process. Like and I think I saw it might have been Coup Cuckah Hill locked on Pistons who mentioned this, tweeted this out. What we did as a fan base with Troy was we be like, “But Troy went and got his guy.” So we would always justify him trading a future first or you know uh in the wiseman deal when he sent out he brought in Wiseman and sent out Sadique and four second round picks or something like we all said those who actually were supportive of the trade said yeah but Troy’s invested in Wiseman maybe he like he got his guy but like you said Pick it’s the process and it’s those marginal losses of giving out a first round pick or four second round picks in the process to get these guys where you end up losing all your assets and over a three to four year period you’re down you you’re still a rebuilding team but you owe a first round pick like you’d have negative first round picks as a rebuilding team so you’re constantly hamstrung because of all these marginal losses over time you can’t do what the Rockets did and make a big trade like you or well like the Pistons have had to get into the playoffs this year to just only get back to a point where they’re neutral assetwise in first round picks. So, um that’s the thing with Troy, I think, where the criticism will always be and is very valid. I don’t agree with how some people go like deliver that message. I think some people can just be flat out rude and disrespectful. But I think if you the way I that is just how I see it and I think coup in that tweet, which I’ve kind of paraphrased there, summarized it really well um with why fans uh don’t think Troy did a good job in Detroit. And I agree with him. I don’t think he did. As good as the players he um drafted were, like he to get some of those guys uh I think really made it hard for this team to surround the young core with the players they needed and he just didn’t sign shoot. like there was like you can’t bring in Joe Harris and like Buan wasn’t a bad trade for Kelly Olen at the time but Buon was like relying on Buon in that 28game losing streak season was insane. Like he was kind of well past it. We saw once he was traded to the Knicks he couldn’t stay on the floor for them. So, um, yeah, that was that was I don’t know. I think I’ve summarized the Troy Weaver thing there, but I agree with you with the with the comment there. Pistons next. Um, what else have we got? I can see there’s a bit going off in the chat here. Thank you so much everyone for watching as well. Like, um, the growth this past week to 10 days has been awesome. I appreciate any of the anyone new watching, but obviously I can see a lot of people in here like Devon, we got Sarah still in the chat, Pistons next. You guys have literally been here with me since like opening night. So, also appreciate all of you. Got Tommy Hurst still in here. Um I think I think I might wrap it up here. We’ve got plenty more coverage coming. Uh I’m still trying to figure out exactly how I approach summer league, but there’s going to be a live stream of some sort for each game. I’m thinking maybe I might do like a like watch the game like go live on YouTube and we’ll do like a watch party to watch it. I got to figure out some things, but we’re gonna have plenty of live stuff going on throughout the summer league and if there’s any breaking news in the next few days, I’ll try and get on here with Kyle to do little lives here and there to break down the cap implications. But, um, yeah, thank you to everyone for joining. Super fun stream today. Um, if you want to join as a PistonsJack subscriber, um, please DM me. It’s over on my Instagram, Pistons_Jack. You can subscribe. It’s, like I said, around $450 or $5 Australian per month. Um, but you can come on these streams. We do these every Friday Eastern in the US. So, um, plenty of fun stuff. We got a really cool community over there. So, uh, thank you everyone for watching. Really appreciate all the support, the love. Um, and I’m really excited about direction of this team.
