Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals MLB game highlights (July 5, 2025) | Marquee Sports Network
All right, Cubs take the field. We get ready for baseball and some autographs. PCA and PCA. I love it. And Carson, who’s back there? Who’s with Carson Kelly? Where are you? All right. Now you got to go over there. Just Oh, you got two baseballs. Hurry. And as Aronado was scratched with a shoulder impinchment, Nbar, Gorman, Pahz, and Scott round it out. And we are ready to roll. Left on left to begin. Pomerance and a fast ball misses inside ball one. We are underway. Let’s see if it’s 10 heaters in a row. He went inside and it missed. And it’s ball four. used someone ahead of Kate Horton in his debut. That was using an opener swing and a miss and he got him on the breaking ball. The knuckle curve 3-2 to high ball four line drive softly hit and over Danby Swanson out into center field Armstrong. I mean stop it. Line drive. That’s a base hit into right field. Donovan in to score. Contrarus on his heels. Tucker picks it up. Fires it in to BCH. And the Cardinals have the early two nothing lead. 3-2. Hopped up a mile high. Shaw shading his eyes and makes the catch. Two down. Big big out in the air. Left field playable. Ian Hap sunglasses on. Got it. Good work by Flexen limiting the damage in 2018. And that one misses ball four. And the leadoff man is on base. Blind drive, base hit right field. Berles will pick it up and the first two have reached here in the bottom of the first.
We talked to everybody. That’s all four. Bases are loaded. That’s what we say when the bases are loaded. Kick a one two swing and a miss. Struck him out. That was a change up. Throw that pitch up there. Got a little adrenaline pumping right now. So bad pitch, good result for Libert, I would think. Yeah. In the air right field. Berles stutter steps, makes the catch, and the Cubs leave him loaded. End of one here at Wrigley and it’s two nothing Cards. Chest painted. Fly ball right field. Tucker back. Back some more near the wall. Oh, and he makes the catch and hello into the Ivy. [Music] The ball really carrying well here today. So, Kyle continues to track this one. He knows he’s getting close. You see him start to feel with that right hand for the wall just before he makes contact. Up he goes to haul it in. Remember that old commercial? I was waiting for Andre Do. been a man of leisure here the last few days.
Line drive to center field and that’s a base hit. Was downstairs with his son and he’s got a helmet that’s got like the Stegosaurus things on the top. You should get one of those helmets. Bling a base hit from Mason Win. Don’t worry folks, I’m still calling the game. The one two swang and a miss. Struck him out. Flexing gets Contras. Sixth in the majors in OPS in the air left center field. That’s well struck. That’s back and it’s gone. How we doing? Michael Bush Council
put Michael Bush in the lineup today. That is the first home run allowed by Liberator to a left-handed batter this year. Only the fourth extra base hit to a left-handed batter this year from Liberator. Official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs. Michael Bush hangs in there, gets a lefty and drives one out of here. Cubs on the board. Number 18 for Bushy. He is emerging quietly sneaking up on people. Three and two. And that one misses and hat will take his base. He’s taken two walks and that is good at bat. Center field. That one is caught by Scott. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Saji is gone and Flexon has gotten the first two. The 2-2 popped in the air. Shaw ring jing and he makes the catch and then says hello. Nice play by Shaw as he pulls it down at foul ground and goes over the brick wall. Matt Shaw continues to play great. A hot Saturday afternoon. Line drive. Base hit left field. That was roped. Ground ball to short. Wind picks it up. It’ll go to Donovan. Highf fly ball drilled in the air towards left center field. On its way gone.
Gorman waited on that breaker and he hit it out. His eighth. Yeah, the Cardinals lead 3-1. JD, I don’t understand why he doesn’t have more homers. Chop to the right side. Big hop for Nico and there is out number three. But the homer by Gorman. It’s a 3-1 Cardinal lead. One of the things that’s really shifted for him is success against the fast ball. Hit hard under the glove of the first baseman. Contrarus Bush around first. On his way to second and he’s got a double. And Hyundai home of the 20-year and 200,000 mi warranty on every new car. Kind of an awkward move after that one from Wilson has done a real nice job down at first base this year for the Cardinals. Three two to Nico and he wouldn’t go. Check swing did not go. Jewel board and nobody out. [Applause] Corners in the dirt and the runners will advance. Matthew Liberator towards third. to JC coming home. Tag and he’s out. Pah puts the tag on BCH. See JC kind of Aronado like here on the move with a good accurate throw. You see Michael Bush checking that inside lane trying to create problems for the thrower. I move to strike that from the record. Counselor. Yeah, we will. Ruers take off and the double steel. So now two are in scoring position and the double play is not in order. Corner at third shot at second. Dribbler third base side of the mount. So JC to first run scores. Cubs within one in a tough spot. Punch towards third. S JC has it. Tucker retired. The Cubs pick up a run. It is a 32 Cardinal lead. End of four. Cubs.com/ raffle if you’re in Illinois. That’s a base hit to right field for Contras. Now you’d have to go on a pretty good Jeopardy run to winund some odd thousand. U JD and T-Mac with you. That one line. Fair ball down the line. It kicks off the sidewall. Tucker picks it up. Fires it to second and Swanson able to corral it up the middle. Her he gets one and he gets two. A double play and they get out of the inning. Well done by Ryan Braier and the middle infielders. Two balls, two strikes. Suzuki weights. Liberator delivers. Drilled out towards left center field, but Scott cutting across. Oh,
baby. Almost the collision and almost squirted out of his glove. Or not.
Ground ball to first. Liberator gets over.
Sorry, Foxy.
Dansby still loves you, Foxy. It’s 185. doesn’t include today. One, two, swing and a miss. Struck him out. Dealbar comes in. More great work from the southpaw. The pitcher is Kyle Ley. Kelly drills this one to center. Scott Bat gets over his head and he puts his hands up and that’ll be a ground rule double. Michael Bush laces a single to left field and they’re at the corners. Nobody out, man. Michael Bush. JD, say it with me. Two two. That one floating out towards left center field and it drops. Kelly in. We’re tied. Nico comes through. 3-3. is currently down and Mats continues to throw.
Look out off the glove of Pah all the way to the back stop and the go ahead run is in as BCH crosses 43 Cubs. It’s OPS four. Hap’s third walk accepted of the day and now two aboard. I mean Ian Hap’s been working a double figure walk rate for his whole career. You know in the air center field Scott is back and makes the catch. Warner back to second. This place will go bonkers if he touches one here. Didn’t challenge ball four with the breaker and they’re loaded up. struck him out and PCA down on strikes. [Applause] Cubs score a couple and leave him loaded. Cubs have the lead.
Good man to keep off base. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Two-2 ground ball through the left side in a base hit but using that fast ball a little bit more on a hop shot to second for Juan her to first two. Presley loving it. A double play and it’s time to stretch our seventh inning stretch. 3-1 and now lead it 4-3. drilled left field on its way from get it out of here. Home run Carson Kelly and the Cubs get some insurance for Kelly. Number 11, 5-3.
Sitting on nine home runs for the longest time, but swinging a pretty hot bat here lately. Homerred yesterday for the 10th time. And here’s number 11. Hefty ultra strong, ultra low price. He got a breaking pitch. Delivered a mighty latch. from the catcher position in baseball this year. 19 total. Only the Braves and of course the Mariners with more. Popped up. Contrarus and Wilson able to make the play where the ball is not moving. I can go slowly and focus on what I’m trying to do. drilled to center field. This pretty well hit. Bo Armstrong is back. He’ll turn. He’ll look and it’s gone. And Burles with a homer off of Keller. It’s a one-run game. A homer off of Keller is something we have not yet said this year until this very moment. That’s how good Brad Keller has been. That’s how important that insurance run was for the Cubs. Is not a closer. the one two in the air. Looped towards shallow right field. It’ll fall for a hit. So JC his second hit of the day on it out in front of the M. Oh, so Newbar will end up with a bunt single. Two on, one out. Ground ball, base hit into left center field and that’s going to tie the game. So JC is in and just like that it’s 55. Oo waits. Runner takes off. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. That one back. That one on its way and it’s gone. Poso with a pinch hit. Threerun homer and the Cardinals have rallied to take an 85 lead. Yeah, the Cardinal fans in the house making some noise. Slider then just backs up on him. Sits there on the inner half up above the knees. You see the reaction from Carson Kelly. I think he might have got whacked with the back swing, too. Payoff pitch right through there. Got him. Scott is gone. Two away. popped up. Shaw on the dirt. Donovan is out, but the Cardinals score five times and have an 85 lead. Uncommon foul tip into the mid of Poso or No, did that hit him? It hit him. Oh, catcher’s interference. There we go. Two-2 line drive out towards left center field. That’s going to touch down for him and it’ll get all the way to the wall. Tucker around third. He’s coming in to score. That’ll be an RBI double and the Cubs get a run back. It’s 86. A lead gets away late. You end up losing kind of you lose the game. Plus, you might lose some availability for your bullpen tomorrow.
Swang and a miss. Struck him out. Contrarus is gone. I would also say this. I am really going miser today with my hair, huh?
See you later. The White Socks social media account. High-fly ball out towards left field. Nbar back some more. And Helley picks up out number one. The 1-1 swing and a fly ball left field back near the wall and he makes the catch. Two-2 struck him out and the Cardinals win this one. St. Lewis rallies from a 53 deficit as the Cardinals score five times in the eighth and win this 186. [Applause]

Go Cubs
WIN, LOSE, or Draw
Stuff happens
When will counsel learn? Dansby hitting .140 with men on base and he’s STILL in the 5 spot. WTF counsel.
Was anyone else having trouble watching TMN on cable? I finally gave up in the fifth and started watching on the app.
You win or lose let’s go Cubs
The curse of the idiotic “insurance” comment. Well, at least we didn’t have to suffer through that dopey song again.
2025 Cubs fail to catch ‘77 Cubs. Must win tomorrow. The rest of the month has some weak teams. Cubs need to start beating the better teams and lefties. If not, might want to consider trading Tucker before he leaves for free agency and you gave up Cam Smith for one season of Tucker.
The amazing Pozo does it again.
Dansby and Bush should have changed their batting order.
Tough loss. Let’s win this series tomorrow!
Why the hell he keep Swanson in the 5 spot
Bases loaded – Swanson strikeout
Bases empty, 2 outs – Swanson single
Let’s keep batting him 5th though
So. All you sabremetric geeks. Tell me again that bunting has no purpose in today’s game. It was the spark that lit the Cardinals rally in the 8th to win the game.
Leave it to Counsels to lose another game. His dumb ass should have took Keller out as soon as he gave up two runs but nope he kept him in to give up even more.
