You know Dave, we don’t track when we read the Eiser Bay read, but I’m starting to imagine that both of them are coming in the first in Fortunately with with Parker and with Irvin the first inning issues and you know obviously Brady House didn’t want to misplay the ground ball, but that’s the worst thing that can happen with a pitcher who has struggled to get out of the first inning. He has an easy out that isn’t recorded and now has something unable to snap the tide. But with with Beller’s struggles, this is a key spot and Jim Hickey is trying to say, “Hey, we can’t let this one get away. There’s nothing you can do about what’s happened. Try to get a a double play ball here. Get out of the inning. Let your offense go to work.”
Now Trevor Story, the batter, and he’s been swinging a hot bat. Story had a two-run single and a two-run homer in yesterday’s game. He had four hits. Drifting back. He’ll make the catch. Runner at second tagging. Ref Snider heading for third and he’ll make it without a play. An important second out of the inning. The story blistering hot hitter flies to right and there are two away. Runners on the corners with Jiren Duran the left fielder coming up. He’s hitting six straight, six for his last 20 be a left on left matchup. 255 overall for the Red Sox left fielder. 22 doubles, fifth in the American League. He has nine triples, six homers, and 42 runs batted in. Dangerous player for the major league lead in triples with Corbin Carroll, Colorado. Now the pitch swung on and fouled off to the left and out of play. One on Durant. him against left-handed pitching. 217 with one home run. This is a matchup Parker and the Nets need to win here. 01 on the way. Breaking ball hit slowly. Chopped foul rolling over toward the Nationals dugout and the count is 0 and2. Seventh man to bat of the inning with switch inning Abraham Toro on deck. First base. Parker hoping to end it here with an 02 count. The next pitch will be his 27th of the first inning. Here comes set runners lead first and third. The kick here it comes. Last ball is high on ball, two strikes. 9 37 extra base hits for Duran. 22 doubles and nine triples to go with his six home runs. Here’s the set. Parker delivers half swing and a breaking ball and Ruiz could not catch his blow. Player Chad Fairch signaling technically ball was fouled and play ball one ball two strikes. He’s heading for an MRI to determine the extent of his elbow sprain. Now, the pitch is high. None of that is good news for Law when he’s talked about not being able to recover from his outings. And he knows at this point of his career that you know pitching multiple innings and pitching backtoback days is what you count on for him. That’s his niche. Here’s the top of the order of Nate Eaton who reached on an error by Brady House. It swings through a first pitch elevated fast. Strike one. That opened the door for the Red Sox. Then all the way around to score. Roman Gonzalez doubled into the left field corner. Parker rocks and kicks the pitch. That one’s in for a strike. Second base umpire Ortiz was giving the out signal like he caught it in the air. Everybody else thought it was a short out. He made sure. Brady House is going to get his first on the way to the right-handed rookie third baseman. A fast ball inside. Ball one. Right now at 215 and 14 for 65 with three doubles, seven runs batted in. Next pitch looks that over. It’s outside. It’s two balls and no strike. Stands just about straight away. A little forward in the box. Muler to the belt. The kick. Here it comes. Swing a bouncing ball right side. That’s going to go throw it to right field to base hit. Bell had to let it cross in front of him. So he goes to second holes there. Right fielder Roman Anthony charges to pick it up and get it in. We’re in business with runners on first and second and one out. And Don Lyall coming up. Hit that one against the defense. It was a cutter that ran off the outside. That pitch was not a strike on three and one, but was a vacant almost entirely wide open right side for House to shoot that one through. So here’s Dalon Lyall. An 11game hitting streak. Extended the streak. RBI double to right center in his final at yesterday on the way. It’s too low off speed. A knuckle curve. Ball one. ended the streak in his previous start for the hit his last hit back against the Tigers in game two of the double header Wednesday. Five doubles, a triple, a homer, and five runs batted in. Here’s the set. And now the pitch swing and miss off the glove. The catcher, but chased right at the plate by Narvay. No advance for the runners. Smiley actually lost a hit the other day in a scoring change from the game Sunday in Anaheim that get out a double off the glove of the first baseman against Kentley Jansen when the Nationals had that big rally to tie. But fortunately Lyall had two other hits in the game so he didn’t lose the hitting streak. Lost the hit. Now the pitch breaking ball fouled straight down at the feet of the catcher Narvay and the count holding at one ball two strikes. still pinching himself that he’s actually in the big leagues. This his 27th game. Said players used to watch on TV goes now I’m I’m observing them from from right field. I’m on the same field with them. Now the set, the kick and the pitch, swinging and driving the air to left field. Left fieldielder Durant was playing shallow. Still going back. Makes a running over the shoulder catch on the warning track. Bell halfway retreats to second. House was at second. retreats to first. What a play by Jiren Durant in left field. Looked like that ball was going to be over his head and he runs it down to the warning track for the second out. Couple things there. Brady House had actually gone around second. Had to make sure to retouch on the way back. He did. And Durant so seldom gets to go back on a ball because in Boston it’s the green monster.
So here showed the ability to go back from playing very shallow in left field. And Rob’s liable an extra base hit and perhaps two RBI’s considering how far House had come around second.
I think he that ball lands on the ground house was going to score. He’d be running up the back of Bell. That’d be the only thing to slow him down. So here is Kar Ruiz with two out and the first pitch to him is away for ball one. Ruiz one for four in his return from the injured list yesterday. Well, when he walked through though, it was really classy. He just congratulated everybody. Of course, he had pitched a great game in game five and all the good stuff for the Nats happened after he left.
Better stuff for him in 20 and again last year. Dodgers runners go the pitch. Ruiz swings and pops it up behind the plate. Fallon out of play. Bell back to second. House coming back to first. Ruiz chasing ball four up and in on it. Buering number zero the Boston uniform. Third inning here from the Nissan broadcast booth with a playbyplay is Dave. Charlie. This is the part of the lineup that did damage against Parker in the first inning. Starts with Romy Gonzalez. The pitches takes just low. This is the Romy Roman part of the lineup. Romy Gonzalez and Roman Anthony. And then Rob Reference at Ref Snider platoon specialist had RBI doubles in the first one to Gonzalez right the outside corner and missed low. Two balls no strikes. Parker had a bounce back second inning. One, two, three with a couple of strikeouts. The left-hander turns into his motion and fires. Line drive toward left center field chasing his wood. can’t get it. It goes by him and all the way to the bullpen fence. It’ll be another extra base hit for the lefty killer Gonzalez. He is two for two with two doubles. So, those two players we highlighted that are in there just to match lefties are three for three with three doubles. Parker has handled everybody else. The Gonzalez Ref Snider duo is has been the difference. Here is Roman Anthony. Left-handed hitter. He holds the bat high up around his ear. Here’s the pitch. So, a ground ball right side toward the hole. That’s past Garcia through for a base hit. Gonzalez coming home. Liles throw toward the plate. Will be cut off and it’s three nothing Boston. Roman Anthony first pitch RBI single scoring Gonzalez. It’s Anony’s eighth RBI in the big league. So, a quick run added to make it a three-run cushion for Boston at three nothing. That’ll bring in Ref Snider. The DH doubled to left center to pick up an RBI in the first. Parker offers that’s in there at the knees with a curveball as Parker works into his third inning. We have yet we’ve seen one splitter snuck that one in on us. The 01 ground ball slowly hit left side. House cuts in for Abrams. Throws to second for the out there. That’s all there. What a good job by House to cut down the lead runner ranging far to his left. Anthony erased. Ref Snder aboarding into the force play. So oneon, one out. They’re in the third inning which is fueled by Club Sitco. Download the Club Sitco app now and instantly save 23 cents per gallon on your first fill up. Or bring in the rookie catcher Carlos Narvz who immediately takes a timeout. You don’t often see the Red Sox and the Yankees be trade partners. May not since Babe Ruth anyway, but Arvay was traded from the Yankees to Boston over the winter. The pitch between a high drive to right center field. Jacob Young drifting over. He’s got a play and Young will make the one-handed catch off his left side, retiring Narvz. His path blocked in New York by Austin Wells, big young catcher. So, he was expendable and he has been Boston’s primary catcher this year, backed up by Connor Wong. It’s not often that a guy of 29 years age ends up being one of your top prospects. 26. Trevor Story. Two out, one on, pitch two. Story is at the hands. Story fly out to right field. Good to get him out. He had a huge game yesterday. Four hits. Wide open stance. The 01. Parker gives the delivery and it’s grounded up the middle in a base hit in left center for Story. So his fifth hit of the series advances Ref Snider to second and two on with two outs for Rocky. Trevor Stories had a big series. He’s looked like the old Trucker story. First onto the scene several years ago. Power hitter, loves to hit ators field. Battled the injury since joining Boston. Parker trying to limit the damage here to face Jiren Durant. Flight out to center field. Stranding two in the first pitch. Durant looks one over. That’s a slider at the belt for a strike. Play him extremely the other way. Gap in right center between Young and Lyall. Parker sweat sto out at right day. It’s warm out there. The 01 drive toward right center field headed toward the gap. Lyall can’t get it. It’s one hop off the fence. Ref. Snider scores. Story being waved in as Lyall has trouble picking it up, but dashing for third is Durant. He’ll be in there standing. 5 nothing Boston as Durant delivers two with the extra base hit. Parker’s been unable to stem the tide here in the third. See if there’s an error on Durant to go to third. Lyall has had multiple times having trouble picking up the ball along the wall both home and away. So here is Abraham Toro. Here’s the pitch. It’s low. It is a triple for Durant. Pitch was just middle in and by high right the wheel high. She talked about how there was shading to left center. So there was no one to track that down in the right center gap. One to Toro. He’s made a number off the end of his bat. Parker can’t field it. Goes under his glove and a run will score. That is shades of last year. 6 nothing Boston. Parker the fielding woes. Doesn’t had that happen much this year. It was a slow tapper back to him. He reached down, tried to backhand it, went right under the glove. kind of swatted at it. Swatted at it to catch it. He let it come to him. He swatted the glove at Ji’s paid another visit to the mound. Be his second slowdown in action brought to you by Eizer Bay. And of all times for that to happen, considering the the rough inning it’s been. Unfortunately, nothing is routine when it’s hit back to Mitchell, especially that slowly when he has time to think about it. And that a costly error because it brings in another run. Would have been a third out if he could have made the play. So here’s Sid on Raphaela. Four runs in. Raphael the number nine at batter out on a popup. So moving around in that nationals bullpen which has a new member out there. First time in a year and a half. Mason Ton. Here’s the pitch. So a long drive left field toward the corner. Wood going back. He can only watch. It is long gone. About seven rows deep into section 105. A two-run home over for Son Raphaela and it’s eight nothing Boston. That is his 10th of the year and that comes one pitch for the error to prolong the inning. That was thigh high running in but he got the barrel out. He really squared that one up. Ninth man to bat in the inning is eight. Another line of the pitch and he fouls one off the mask of Ruiz. Oh no, that knocked the max right off his face. Ruiz just two games back. Concussion IIL immediately will be visited by Davy Martinez and director of athletic training Paul Lassard. That’s one of the reasons that Ruiz went on the IIO in the first place as was if he was to continue to play after getting hit in San Diego. What happens if you take a foul ball off the mask? That was a direct hit. Off the mask is indicating he’s okay. And Paulard and Dave Martinez back to the dugout. Nate Eaton, the former stand out of BMI, was born and lives in Chester, Virginia, Thomas Dale High School. The wind in the 01 for Parker. Swing is grounded softly under the glove of the reaching first baseman Low. It trickles down the right field line. Eaton’s going to head for second base as Low has to retrieve it and will stop there. So low reaching down and to his left just got a little bit of a glove on it but couldn’t field it. And this inning just will not end whether the ball’s hit sharply or softly. It would be a very long definition if we had to look up nightmare of an inning if they were going to plug this one in. Take a lot of print on the team. The man who started it all was Ramy Gonzalez. He doubled. He’s in there now. Scored a double for Eat. Here’s the pitch. Swinging a miss. First strike. Ellio one swing a ground ball to the open right side. Base hit. Eaton’s being waved around third. Coming home. Lile throws it toward the plate and it’s too late. The score standing up. That’ll make it nine nothing Boston. They’ve scored seven in the inning. Romy Gonzalez is three for three in the first three innings of this game. Seven run inning for the Red Sox for a second straight day. And here’s Roman Anthony. And as of yet the bullpen is not warming up. zone bullpen took a heavy load yesterday working the final five innings. Parker sets and steps off. Again, the inning didn’t end on the soft comebacker by Toro since that point. Two-run homer, double single be Mason Thompson to warm up.
Pitch to Anthony.
I check that
swing and a strike. It’s Jackson Rutled had that long appearance in the double header on Wednesday, but he has had multiple days off and he can pitch both at least you hope. The 01 swinging a miss curve ball. Anthony waves at it and it’s 0 and two. Bears have played prominently in both of these innings. An error in the first and a huge error here in the third. This has been an onslaught from the Red Sox. The O2 just missed outside for a ball with a slider. Not to say uh not to be the bearer of more bad news, but tomorrow their best pitchers on the mound. The major league leader in strikeouts, Garrett Crochet. It’s not getting any easier. Here’s the pitch. So, we had a ground ball chopped right side. Garcia fields it. He’ll throw over to first and the inning is over. Red Sox score seven times. We’ll go to the bottom of the third. It’s 9 nothing Boston on the Nationals Radio Network. Walker Pewer has a nine nothing lead to work with as the Nationals come to bat in the bottom of the third with Jacob Young, CJ Abrams, and James Wood. Here’s the pitch from Buer and takes a fast ball right down the middle as you should with a nine-run lead. Dong hitting at 246. No homers, 12 driven in. He is now tied for the major league on hits. the 01 waving swinging a miss had a slider and it’s 0 and two it had the lead by himself TJ Friedel of the Reds caught him they’re tied with seven punt hits up there from the right side of the plate the outfield shallow and toward right the O2 huge foul off the end of his bat the netting above the first base dugout incidentally for that top of the third inning seven runs scored by Boston three of them were earned and four were unearned. So Parker’s nine runs charged so far. Only four are earned. The 02 over Young’s head and to the back stop on the fly. That was a fast ball that was a little bit off target. They’re going to give Young a second to lower his pulse rate. And sometimes you see the breaking ball slip.
That’s no fun. That was a fast ball. Now the wind of the next one
goes down and away with a slider. Two balls, two strikes. And
normally a hitter will recognize that. I don’t never moved to get out of the way. Fortunately, it sailed over his head. He’s not that tall thankfully. Two- two pitch off the outside corner with a fast ball. pitched around two hits last inning. Got a great defensive play behind him. Now he winds and fires. Had a swinging a popup. This one straight up to shoot out in front of home plate. The catcher’s calling for it. Narvay. He makes the catch on the grass in front of the dish. So that is out number one. We’ll pause for station identification on the Nationals Radio Network. WJFK FM and HD1 Manasses and WPGC HD2 Morningside Sport Radio 1067 The Odyssey Sports Station Dave Jaggler Charlie Slows Nissan Broadcast booth here on a late afternoon. There’s the pitch to CJ Abrams. That’s inside ball one from Walker Beller. Red Sox a nine nothing lead. They have outscored the Nationals 20-2 in the first 12 innings of this series. Here’s the 10. Swing a line drive loop right center field. That’s going to fall in for a base hit. It’s up the alley. It’ll be cut off by Roman Anthony. It’ll hold Abrams to a single. CJ’s hit an eight in a row. An overall 13 now 14 of his last 15 games. That’ll put a man on base for James Wood. It was quite the scene pregame about 1:30 today. James Wood came out. His entire team was out there and some fans who were here for early batting practice had to sit in stands. Here’s the pitch to Wood. That’s in the dirt from Buer and they didn’t want the fans on the warning drive because there was no batting cage. This was simulation of the home run derby with third base coach Ricky Griierz throwing to Wood. They had a clock on the scoreboard and in middle of a round used a timeout and uh it was kind of it was simulating. I mean fans were cheering and ooing an eye. Here’s the pitch. Wood takes a strike over the outside corner. You can tell that James was a little winded just taking all those swings. He’s going to have to learn how to use his right. Well, he did. Broke it up. Buer deals swing a ground ball. It’s under the glove of the first baseman Toro. trickles out to the outfield grass and then a shovel attempt by Gonzalez that goes nowhere toward the dugout actually and so Abrams will take third. That was kind of a a unwarranted attempt there by Gonzalez. The ball squirted under the glove of Toro out to the outfield grass and he attempted to shovel it or bat it back to the first baseman. It just rolled away from him and that allowed CJ to advance a base and so there might be two errors on this play. Toro fanned on the ground ball and then and then Gonzalez tried to bat it with his glove or glove scoop and flip it all at once.
He was wide left. It’s a first and third. The pitch to Garcia and Louie takes a strike and it has been scored two errors. An E3 on Toro initially missing the grounder and then the ill-advised glove shovel or or roll as it turned out to be of Gonzalezer to the belt. He fires and Garcia swings and misses to the pitch up around his neck neck height. So anyway, you know, Wood hits some long home runs. He almost hit the Toyota hybrid at the concourse right center. Came a couple of rows short. Teammates were saying it’s going to it’s going to hit the truck. There we go. No, hit the car. Hit the car. Here’s the pitch. Made a chopper foul up the right side. You know, so it was interesting talking to Josh Bella after that for our Nats on day conversation. You know, some of the balls that didn’t go out, he’s saying going to go out in Atlanta because the ball carries better there. And that is the second high elevation of any park in the major league. So you’re going to get some lift. Here’s the O2 pitch in the dirt. And so James may take one more round of this on the road trip either in I would assume maybe in St. Louis or possibly Milwaukee. I’m not sure. But it was interesting talking to assistant hitting coach Chris Johnson there. I guess there’s some rule tweaks that we don’t know about yet. So it it’s 3 minutes or 40 pitches. Here’s the set. The one-two from Buer swing a hard ground ball. This one fielded by Toro. Steps on first. Throws to second. So a run will score. Wood in a rund down will be tagged out. But the run does count because it’s a timing play. Garcia will get the RBI. Check that. It’s nine to one. He will get the RBI because of the timing play. So, the inning over, the run scores, and it’s 91 as we go to the Take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following.
I really don’t know what to say. I’m just uh so happy I gave something. These people cheer. We all did. I mean, it was a great game. Both teams played incredible. It was a great game.

Now is the time for a great deal on a new Honda. is your local Honda area dealer today. B Rob Reenter to lead off the top of the fourth against Mitchell Parker and the pitch on the way. He’s called strike one. So official score kind of threw me for a loop. First he announced RBI. Now they’re posting no RBI. Garcia on double play. Score is nine to one favor of Boston. The 01 pitch. It’s low. It is an unearned run against Beller because the two errors and the ball hit by Wood. So, one run, one hit, two errors. Garcia grounding into the 36 double play with a run counting pitch. See a looping line drive shallow left. Wood moving in. James Wood makes the catch on the line out. One away. Should finish the thought on the home run derby. know that sometimes they tweak the rules and we’ll hear about it that day, but we’re getting the advanced scouting report from Chris Johnson. So, the point is you get three minutes or 40 pitches. So, if you throw 40 pitches in a minute and a half, your round’s over. So, they’re trying to get Ricky Gutierrez and Wood in sync. They thought they were going a little fast because Wood was getting winded.
So, I mean, it’s a learning curve for everybody. Here’s the pitch to Harvay. Carlos takes one in the dirt and that knocks the mask off of Kar Ruiz. So he’s taken two off the mask, one on a foul tip, that one on a ball in the dirt. One ball, no strikes to count. You know, Wood hits the ball so high that you’re watching the flight of the ball and then the next pitch is coming. They got to time up the delivery to to get 40 pitches right around the 3minute mark. The 10 swing. This one has popped up a mile high on the infield. Garrett Ruiz in foul territory now backpedals and makes the catch in fair territory along the first base line. So that is out number two. Well, that’s a good sign because you got your bell rung by getting hit of the mass that the last thing you want to do is be looking up at the sky and backp. So he had his balance that tells you he’s okay. He’s got a smile on his face right now based on something that Chad Fairchild has said for Parker who’s struggled in the odd number innings is trying for a second one two three in an even number given up two in the first seven and third face Trevor Story here in the fourth. Here’s the pitch. That’s Ethan’s first strike. And I asked, you know, the rule the last couple years has been that the pitcher couldn’t throw the pitch until the previous ball hit landed either in the seats or
you have to wait a long time for that
as high as he hits the ball. But apparently that’s no longer the case. It’s no longer a rule. The 01 fouled back to the back stop. So you can rapid fire your pitches. But again, if you throw 40 pitches in 2 minutes and 10 seconds, then your round’s over. So, it’ll be interesting to see how James fares in the home run derby. Got a little dress rehearsal today with a bit of a crowd and with his teammates cheering him on. Here comes the O2 from Mitchell. That’s too low to story. One ball, two strikes. I wonder with that if the pitcher this case Ricky Gutierrez National’s third base coach throwing to him if there’s going to be on the clock behind home plate show him the time maybe also the home run counter well the pitch count yeah cuz you can throw 40 swing a line drive toward the gap in right center for story on the go is Lyle he reaches out he makes a nice running grab then crosses onto the warning track showing off his fleetoedness runs down a potential extra base hit off the bat of Story So Parker has had two one two3 innings. Others haven’t gone quite as well. Middle of the fourth nine.

It’ll be Nathaniel Low to lead off the bottom of inning number four against Walker Beller. That Socks lead it nine to one. Hands overhead wind up the high leg kick and the pitch. Sling it in just low to low. Ball one. Low hit a low line drive that was grabbed by the second baseman Gonzalez’s first time. The next pitch, that’s a low strike call. That’s not a strike. Wow. It’s not even really that close to the knees. One-1. That’s a ball inside. Two in one of cutter. Here’s the wind up at the two-1 pitch over the outside corner. And that was not a strike. It should be 4-0 on Nathaniel Low. Yet, it is two and two. And we’re going to clarify the bottom of the third inning because official score just made another announcement.
He made a couple of announcements. Finally got one right. Here’s the 2-2 swinging. It’s lifted foul back and out of play. Initially, he had credited Garcia with an RBI, which is what I had said in the call, but then said it wasn’t an RBI because it was a double play. And now they’ve corrected it. It’s not an RBI. It is a timing play. So, the run counted. Toro made the decision to step on first, throw it to second. That allowed Abrams to score before they tag James Wood out to complete the double play. 2-2 is inside for ball five. Five balls and a strike on low. What a 3-2 pitch.
What a 3-2 count. Here’s the pitch. Swing a crowd ball. Hits the leg of the pitcher. Deflects toward the third baseman. Eaton picks it up. Throws to first, but Toro wasn’t on the bag. And so Low, who should have drawn a walk, will get an infield hit. I don’t know why Toro didn’t stretch out to catch the throw. It was going to be a close play, but he had neither foot on the bag and just caught the throw from he safe on the play.
Buer on the follow through trying to catch that one behind his back. Get the glove to the ball. Yeah, Toro kind of gave up on the play. If he stretches, that’s going to be really close. I think it Here’s the pitch to Bell. That’s over the outside corner for a strike. Although that wasn’t a strike either. I think that ball hit Buer directly in the butt. Fairchild’s got a very wide interpretation of home plate in this. There’s the 01 that’s in there over the plate with a curve and it’s 0 and2. Kind of like batters box line to batters box line is your width of home plate right now. It’s a hot day. It’s nine to one. The strike zone is expanding. holds and fires. That’s low. Ball one to Bell on a curve. Bell had a solid base hit to right. His first time up. Lead off runner on base in this inning for the Nationals for the first time. Mueller deals swing a ground ball. Base hit into right field. Low will jog into second base. So, two on with nobody out. Nationals trying to chip away at the Red Sox large lead. They’ve been good chippers over the course of the year, Dave. Unfortunately, they had to do a little too much chipping away. Well, there’s still a lot of game left. Pitcher who has struggled here of late. Brady House had a base hit his first time up. Two on, nobody out. Here it comes inside ball one as Hillary yanked the sinker far enough outside for it to be called a ball. Now the set the 10 swing a foul ball hit to the right and that will Atlanta the first row at the gallery level right someone’s lap all in a strike straightaway stance that behind the ear the high leg kicking the pitch too low slider two balls in a strike side has two errors. Those errors have been far more costly. The 2-1 takes that’s in the vicinity of the outside corner. Called a strike. Two and two. Arvayas must be a spectacular framer. The two- two pitch. Strike three called in the neighborhood of the outside corner. Pretty much the spot of the last one. So why wouldn’t it be strike three? That is Buer’s first strikeout. Here’s Dalen Lyall. Lyall was absolutely robbed his last time up by Jiren Durant who’s just stepping off his steps in the outfield. Here’s the pitch in there. A called strike. He was very robotically. He took three steps in and three steps to his right. That’s where the index card’s telling him to play. He could he couldn’t just angle over. He had to go three in and three over pitch. And there for a strike. I mean, he he just made a spectacular catch on this same hitter last time. Maybe you would take a step or two back since he hit it over your head. It’s almost like playing chess. Knight to bishop three. Here’s the O2 in the dirt. Duran to rook seven. So here you say two steps in and three over. Starting from where?
Right. Exactly.
I don’t know.
From where?
I guess from where he was on the last hitter. What What if they pinch hit? Here’s the one two swing a crow ball just foul wide of first sharply.
I don’t think those cards are prepared before they know the ping order, right? I mean, they are prepared before then. If they’re in sequence with the batting order, then it’s from wherever the last hitter was, right? So, so on house, he goes he goes to queen six and rook four. I I don’t know. Here’s the one two high to Lyle. Two balls, two strikes. I didn’t figure we were talking about the Queen’s Gample today. Everything’s a board game. Low at second, Bell at first. 9-1 Boston, fourth inning. Mueller deals and misses high. Well, funny thing, we talked about Lyall last time it was up. Young players today very fascinated and spent a lot of time playing MLB the show. He played as himself last night for the first time. That’s when you know you’ve arrived. You’re you’re in the game.
I hope he extended his hitting streak. Here’s the set, the 3-2 pitch. So, he had a tapper first base side foul. He stays alive.
You know, when we had All-Star baseball or Stratamatic that you know was that was your team for the year or when you bought the game that that was your team. Now, MLB the show that the roster moves the teams make are updated every day.
And in Stratamatic, if you didn’t play enough games, you didn’t get a card.
I mean, you played like five games, you didn’t get a card. The 3-2 swing a little looper up the middle. And it’s going to fall. It’s a 12-game hitting streak for Lyall. Low has to stop at third as that bleeder falls into center field. So in real life, he extends the hitting streak to 12 games. The knuckling line drive over the head of the shortstop. He’s got a card. He’s got a dozen game hitting streak. And the pitching coach Andrew Bailey is going to come out to the mound as there’s some moving around in the Boston bullpen. Pewer with a 91 lead. They’re going to get the bullpen up behind him here in the fourth inning. So, you can see it appears the leash is a little bit short when it comes to Walker Beller. Chris Murphy left-hander beginning to toss. So, he’d be getting ready for the top of the order if Nationals had dumped something big by the time you get to Abrams and Wood. Aaron Ruiz the batter. Ruiz a shallow fly to left his first time upstranding two. This time he’s got the bases loaded and Socks will play the infield back hoping for the double play. Low Bell and Lyall are the base runners. Beller from the stretch delivers between a ground ball to the first baseman. Toro throws to second for one. The throw to Beller covering at first. Too late. Ruiz avoids the double play. Low scores. It’s now Boston nine in the Nationals two. It’s a very slow developing play. They nearly turned it. Ruiz just did beat the throw from the shortstop to the pitcher covering. Now runners first and third for Jacob Young. RBI 25 for Ruiz. He was running just as fast as his legs would carry him knowing that beat that return throw he for me to run for his team and was able to do that. Now, Jacob Young popped up to the catcher his first time up. Here comes Beller. Strike one over the outside corner and in the vicinity. Here’s the set. A one offering to Young in the dirt. Scooped up by Narvas. Cold Bell at third and Ruiz at first. The correction Saw the two, thought it was 72. It is 32. Justin Wilson at the Red Sox. We know it’s not Chapman, but they do have four lefties to choose from. Here’s the set. A 1-1 swinging a miss, chasing a slider off the outside. One and two. Guy like veteran Wilson can get ready in a hurry if they might be in if Young gets a base hit here. will take a timeout. Down to the count, one and two. That’ll field around toward right. Young is an extreme opposite field hitter. Set for Beller and the one-two. Swing a line drive right field. It’s falling, but Anthony goes into a headlock dump, but he makes the catch to rob Young of an RBI base hit. He was playing shallow. He came in a couple of steps, dove toward the infield, and secured the catch. The Nationals denied another run here in the fourth. Good play by Anthony. Nationals for the second straight inning have an RBI ground out or a ground out that delivered a run more accurately. And so we go to the fifth. It’s time

Red Sox nine, Nationals 2. Back in with a playbyplay from the Nissan broadcast booth. Here’s Dave Jack. Charlie and Virginia native and former VMI Kead Nate Eaton leads off. Scored a couple of runs. Pitching a miss and a ball in the dirt. reaching an error in the first, scored, doubled in the third and scored. Mitchell Parker trying to finish off six innings. This will be a most unusual start in Nationals history. Here’s the 01 just outside. Only two other times in NAS history has a pitcher allowed nine runs or more and finished six innings. He’s not there yet. He’s got to get three outs, but they’re giving him the chance. The bullpen’s not going the 1-1 in the dirt. Two and one.
Patrick Corbin’s got it.
No, it’s not.
You would think
he’s done he’s done six innings with six or seven, but not nine. Good for Patrick.
Yeah. The most recent was Tanner Roar and it was against Boston. Here’s the pitch. Low three and one. It was here in 2018. He gave up nine runs in seven innings, an 114 loss. That Boston team will go on to win the World Series. They were great that year. The 3-1 strike two called over the outside corner. They won 108 games in the regular season. And the only other time it happened, the way back machine 2007, Jerome Williams, who was briefly a national against the then Florida Marlins. 3-2 pitch in there. Strike three called right at the bottom of the zone around the knees. Parker gets his third strike out, his first since the second inning. Williams gave up 10 runs, nine earned in six innings and a 126 loss. So I guess Parker’s trying to join that list and not really a list you want to be on, but he does want to finish six innings. Here’s the pitch through Romy Gonzalez. That’s in for a strike. This guy has been a pain in the you know what is three for three. Two doubles, a single, two runs scored, two driven in. Next pitch, swinging a miss. Chased one down and in. 0 and two. I mentioned that his success against lefties. He’s now well over 500 against lefties. 22 out of 57. Here’s the pitch. Strike three called. Change those numbers. Parker has backto-back called third strikes here in the sixth inning. So that’ll be Jiren Durant. Brian Lutis is warming in the bullpen. They’re in a nine-2 game. But Parker You’d say he’s settled in unfortunately much too late. The pitch in there a called strike. Parker has retired nine in a row since giving up the touchdown in the third. Final out the 213 innings the first two outs in the sixth. Here’s the 01. Made a ground ball right side. Low reaches. Can’t get to it. It’s by him for a base hit.
So Anthony has twice found that 34 hole between Low and Garcia. He’s not hit either ball sharply, but it’s his second hit of the game. His other two times out, he’s grounded to the second base. He’s hit everything on the ground to the right side. Two times for hits, two times for ground outs. Parker will get another chance to finish the inning facing Rob Reed. Ref Snider first inning double. A ground out on a line pitch right down the center for a strike. the 01. So he had a fly ball right field. Lyall moving back now squaring up now drifting more and he makes the catch near the edge of the warning track. So Mitchell Parker on a day in which he gives up nine runs for earn does indeed finish six innings. Only the third Nationals pitcher in their history with such a pitch. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it means? Oppo taco. A home run hit to the opposite field.

He finished his career with the Boston Red Sox 2011. He was an all-star closer for the White Socks 2006, 2007 and a member of the 2005 White Sox World Series champions. Rollolances to family of Bobby Jens go to the bullpen. All brought to you by Main Street Bank. It’ll be Ryan Lutis relief with Mitchell Parker who as you mentioned the most bizarre pitching line. The third occasion in Nat’s history, a starter has gone six innings or more and allowed nine runs or more. Four of them earned 10 hits, one walk, four strikeouts, and a homer again over innings four, five, and six. He retired nine of 10 batters. He had a strong finish to get through six. So Lutas to work the seventh with Boston leading 93. Second straight day for Lutus. He pitched yesterday morning. 33 pitches over two innings. give up two runs. Another Trevor Story homer face Carlos Narvz to begin the seventh and the pitch. Narvay leans back from a slider and it’s nothing and one 0 for two with a walk. Story is on deck so he’ll face Lutis. Second day in a row. Lut fires. It’s way outside for a ball. Shadows have made their way across home plate. Here’s the pitch. Made a ground ball left side. House to his left. Scoops it up. Sidearm toss to first. It’s right on target. Retire Narvay. Up one down. And Trevor Story will come up. Pitcher is still in the sun. This is center field in the batter’s eye. Most of the left side of the infield and left field in the shade. Fans on the third base side are quite comfortable. On the right side, not as much. A warm afternoon here in the nation’s capital. First pitch to Story. Strike called deh high at 96. Tory’s homer yesterday in the eighth inning to left field. Lutis was his 13th. The single in the third pitch. So a hard ground ball diving stopped house to his backand pops up. He throws on a couple of hops. The scoop by low and he gets the out. Brady House with the Nationals defensive play of the day robbing Trevor Story of extra bases. diving to his backhand and a couple of hops on the throw. Low scoops it up for a spectacular second out. Takes an extra base hit away for sure. Wasn’t sure the throw was going to get there on the hops, but it did.
What’s amazing is the same hitter and the same fielder had nearly an identical play yesterday in the sixth inning with a different result. Here’s Jiren Durant. Bald strike at the knees. Brady House made a diving stop on a smash by Story. Threw about a two or three hopper over to Low who couldn’t scoop it and it was ruled an infield hit. This time Low got the scoop and the out. Here’s the pitch. Swinging a foul tip into the mid. Strike two on Durant. So that was a dress rehearsal yesterday for the play we that story just that house just made to Rob Story. Yes, that’s my story.
Asking him if he’s I don’t think he’s trying to throw two or three out over there. It’s the way it worked.
That one was two. Yesterday’s was three and the third one skidded. The 02 in the dirt to the back stop on Durant.
Yesterday I didn’t think he had a good grip on the ball. Think today he was just really trying to get rid of it in a hurry. cuz he’s he has a strong enough arm to get that there in the air easily. One to two the count for Lutis. He deals swing a foul out of play to the left. Socks have a left-hander in the bullpen with the top of the order coming up. That is man who is quite busy for them. Brennan Bernardino have Abrams Wood Garcia in the seventh. Bottom of two to Durant swinging a miss. He struck him out. So Lutus has a one, two, three inning with help from his friend at third. Brady sends us to the seventh inning stretch. Boston leading 9 and three on the Nationals Radio Network. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. The throw on the move is in time to get Abrams whose helmet goes flying off as he goes through the bag. Either Bernardino or the bounds slowed that down a bit and redirected it for Story to come in into his backhand. Yeah, he got a glove on it. Reaching behind him. That should be a 163 put out.
