Brewers vs. Marlins Game Highlights (7/5/25) | MLB Highlights
The Brewers trying to clinch a series against the Miami Marlins the first time in a couple of years trying to win a series against these fish. Cal Quantrell is on the mound. The Marlins have done a lot of winning with him lately. He hasn’t been giving up many runs now. He would like to go deeper into the game. That’s something to kind of look at his last game. He went five innings, only gave up three hits and two earned runs. He has given up four home runs in his last four starts, swing at a strike, 31 up, one down strike out of the day for, as William Contreras lifts a cutter off the end of his bat into shallow right center out there to put a squeeze on out. Number two of the basket catches Xavier in the midst of a 16 game on base streak hitting 260 on the year with 17 home runs, 61 driven in. He went sinker and it was dotted on the lower inside corner freezes christian 123 1st with a couple of K’s and he struts off Chad Patrick. He comes into today with a 37 record. He struggled in the month of June and the Milwaukee Brewers did not help him out. The Brewers lost all five of Chad Patrick starts one up and one down. Sanchez and one on sanchez Hands. He golfs it into shallow center field, tough play for Ortiz. He’s ranging back, he dives and he can’t get it. Sanchez took a big turn at first base so it’s a one single on a pretty good at bat from sanchez. He saw seven pitches and there’s two away and he got him looking two seam fastball clipped the outside corner. He puts up a zero in the first. We go to the second inning. No score. It will be an infield single for Jackson. Chur Chur on the move that is swinging to throw to second base. Not in time sour with a stolen base but Tang to strike out swinging with a runner in scoring position. There’s one away on the punch out for cal his third already. So Chur gets himself scoring position and there’s one away now for Rhys Hoskins to center field and it is down and going to go all the way to the wall is going to score with where will hoskins end up? He’s around second. He is headed for third and he is there standing with an RB I triple right on the screws and a do or die play by Dan myers in center field and he did not do Brewers lead it one to nothing with the trip you’ll ever see swing and a Miss, he got him with a cutter. Big second out for Cal Quantrell. Fourth strikeout of the ball game for Cal. There are two men gone infield will go to their normal depth against Caleb Durbin. That first pitch to Durbin rolled over his short Lopez has got to be fires to first in time to beat Durbin by a step in the inning is over. But Milwaukee strikes first. A single from Chio and an RBI triple to straight away center from Hins one nothing Brewers. We go to the bottom of the second inning here in Miami Stour to lead things off for the Marlins out to right and deep second deck and kyle Stour Rs number 16 into the seats tied at one bottom two. Boy, he absolutely crushes that cutter just like that. He draws the Marlins even here in the second one. Pitch wagon in is out to left down the line that is dropping in. It’s a fair ball and that kicks into the corner. Collins plucked it on the back hand, his throw cut off and wagon and slides to the second piece first. He hasn’t to out double off the sour’s homer runner at second nobody out and here’s liam Hicks. This is hit in the air to left center field long way to go and that will get down for extra bases. The Marlins unloading on Chad Patrick here in the second three extra base hits to start the inning and all of a sudden it’s 2 to 1. Miami. What a nice job by Liam Hicks. Be able to get that, that cutter elevated up in the zone and just drive it the opposite way. William gets a two bagger but the tying run in scoring position here in the third with two away for Christian Yic. It’s a called third strike, little delay to pause for emphasis. But the home plate umpire alex Tosi rings up and has another punch out against the former Marlin Jackson Chio getting set to lead off the visiting fourth Brewers trailing 2 to 1 against Cal and Miami. That’s a bullet fair inside the bag. He’ll have an extra base hit as Jackson Chio is going to put on the brace at second base, a leadoff double to start this fourth inning over to third advances Chio with one away and hoskins has a chance to drive in the tying run and that’s ball four runners on the corners for the Brewers. The first free pass issued by Cal. Isaac Collins will come to the plate. This is the second time in the game. Isaac bats with a runner at third and one out there is a line shot back up the middle of base hit that will tie the game 22. Isaac Collins drives in a run great job isaac Collins and he ropes a game tying RBI single 2 to 2 ball game in the 4th, 1st and 2nd, still one out into center field back and it’ll get down again. A base hit for caleb Durbin and they are loaded loaded again for Ortiz that one right down broadway. It was a sinker and Ortiz did not fire the barrel. There are two men gone on the strikeout and here comes Clayton mccullough and S Day is done. We’ll see Josh Simpson into the game with the bases loaded. This is only his fifth career major league appearance. He comes in at a 2 to 2 game in the fourth bases full of Brewers. Two out for sal free free hits one high in the air, right center field, myers and sanchez converging, he’s calling for it and he makes the catch in right center field. Simpson comes on and he gets the out he needed. He strands the bases loaded but another run comes in. Brewers only get one away for Wagman who doubled back in the second inning and Then scored on the hicks doubles. He won a ground ball to the back hand of the shortstop Ortiz. He’s got it. He fires to first. It was offline. It took Hoskins to the inside of the first base bag and he swiped the tag on wagon and Hoskins a little banged up on that but he completes the 6 to 3. Put out Reese immediately dropped his arm after he tagged out Wagman running by him and you could see that he was in discomfort. The Brewers clubhouse said it’s left thumb, discomfort for hoskins and that collision at first base for him. So I take the glove off right away. So what is the left thumb kind of as we thought, two out still at first for ball, left side base hit for Yic free. Puts on the brakes 1st and 2nd. Now for the Brewers on base in 17 straight games for Christian Jelic two on with two out for red hot Jackson. Chur chur drills one out to right field that’s hanging up on the line for Jesus Sanchez and that strands two bottom of the eighth inning. Still tied at two. Nick me takes over on the mound for the crew. Meares is going to get 89 and one to hit for the Marlins off the end of the bat into center field down for a base hit. Brewers pitching had retired 18 of the last 19 and nine in a row. That is the first since the second inning for Miami Marlins have go ahead, run it first and nobody out. 32 pitch is flared into left field that is in for a base hit myers taps the breaks around second. So the first two have reached against Meares here in this bottom of the eighth inning. Now you got the top of the order coming up. You got Xavier Edwards who’s zero for three today but handles the bat really well, he’s squared to but he gets it down, third base line. It’s a beauty. It’s an absolute, everybody is safe. Pat Murphy is coming out. It’s not going to be Meares. He faces three hitters gives up three singles and Jared Koenig is going to try to play fireman bases loaded. Nobody out bottom of the eighth inning. And the Brewers are up against it. They will pinch it. Conor Norby for Jesus Sanchez struck him out pitch down and in that’s one one away. And now there’s a much different path forward for Koenig and the Brewers trying to navigate this eighth inning. Now, he’s got to base. Otto Lopez tapper back to the mound. Koenig has a shovel pass that’s 12 away in the bottom of the eighth inning as Koenig makes an excellent play to get the runner coming home. Didn’t panic two outs. There’s a path out of this thing now and now here’s Augustin ramirez bases still loaded two outs, ground ball base hit through the left side that’s going to play the pair and Augustine ramirez singles in too. The Gus bus has left the station timely hitting a rocket single 113 off the bat and it’s 42 f in the bottom of the eighth. What a huge hit for Augustine Ramirez, the rookie coming up, clutch, tough break for the Brewers and for Jared kick, you go to the top of the ninth And here comes Lake B. Rod who’s coming off an incredible June in six appearances over 13 3rd innings. He had a 0.68 a and all he’s being asked to do here in the ninth inning is save his first ever major league game when the Brewers down to their last out and it’s the top of the order and free coming to play fly ball in the air, shallow right field should do it. Edwards going out Myers coming in and the ball game is over and it’s the first major league save for Lake B. And they’ve noted this three game weekend series up at one a piece.
