Red Sox vs. Nationals Game Highlights (7/5/25) | MLB Highlights
The nation’s capital, the Red Sox and Nationals play game two of the weekend series at the Red Sox launched with a bang on the fourth of July Red Sox can win their 10/1000 game in franchise history here today. It sure would help to get off to a good start of Mitchell Parker can put a big zero up there in the first inning. The, er A is way up there after that, he’s just fine and the hitter is Nate who’s playing third base today and third bobbled by House, he’ll knock it down but no play and eat easily into first base on the miss. It’s a great read off the bat and play right there and Then clanks. I mean, just gets it right there. Perfect hop right up to him and kind of got on him a little quick. It takes his eyes off it right off. The palm. Rome will check in at 304. Gonzalez has hit three home runs runner goes and there’s a line drive down the left field line that’s going to be extra bases and that’s going to give the Red Sox the lead Eaton out of a cannon rounds third. He’s into the plate. He scores Roy my homie double in the first and it’s one nothing Red Sox. This is a pitch that’s at his ankles but he knows it’s coming and he takes it down the line and it feels we’re talking about vibes. It feels good. Bring up Robs as Rome Gonzalez moves to third and drives that one to left center field, put a charge into that back there off the wall and the Kams that brings up another run and into second base. Easily. Refsnyder Red Sox jump in front two to nothing. Can Walker Buehler write his ship and get the Red Sox back to 500 with a win today, Josh Bell and he’ll add a clean single to right. That’s finally in that hit column. Here’s Brady House with one on one out. This one perfectly placed with one of those six or seven Hoppers through the right side and the Nats have back to back hits with a guy with a hitting streak coming up next and a fly ball well hit to left Durant, racing back back back lunges. Oh, he made the play. He made the catch and the runners have to get back on a terrific long, long running catch by Jaron Durant. Jaron Durant just closing speed. I mean, this ball had double in the gap scored two all over it. This ball was barreled and again , it’s about the speed catching up to this ball, the track, he went a long, long way, beautiful catch over the shoulders and here’s Kert Ruiz and a high fly ball to left Durant right there and makes the catch Red Sox out of the inning despite the two hits. This is the part of the lineup that did damage against Parker in the first inning starts with Roy Gonzalez. The pitch and wicked line drive that’s going to settle down and keep on bouncing up against the wall and another double for Roy , he’s two for two. And now Roman who is zero for one swinging a ground ball right side, bouncing through. It’s a hit in the right field. They’re waving Gonzalez Lyle picks it up, he throws home, it is cut off and Gonzalez scores and the Red Sox lead 30 in the third runners on at 1st and 2nd. Red Sox with three more hits here in the third inning. Here’s Durant zero for one with a fly to center and he drives that one toward the gap. Nobody out there. It skips up against the wall. Another run is in here comes story rounding. He will score all the way down to third is Durant five to nothing. Boston. Now it’s Abraham Torrell that one Squibb back onto the glove. Here comes another run in to score. Durant Parker could not make the play. It is six to nothing down to the number nine hitter, sean Rafaella sean swing and a high drive left field deep, backing up wood turning she is gone. Say Don with a two run shot and the Red Sox are quickly turning this one into a laugher eight to nothing. They say this thing went 385 and it just sort of felt like it looked like off the bat. It was about 450 didn’t it? Top of the order again? And Nate Eaton, their leadoff guy is going to bat for the third time here in the third inning ground ball to first under the glove of Lowe that will roll down the right field line and take it off for second and will pull up there. And the man who started it all was Romi Gonzalez. He doubled and he’s in there. Now, base hit right field Gonzalez three for three. They’ll chase in another run. Eaton will score easily. The Sox add on another nine to nothing here in DC. Top of the order CJ. Abrams high fly ball to center first time, a line drive looped right center field that’s gonna fall in for a base hit. It’s up the alley to be cut off by roman Anthony. That’ll put a man on base for James Wood, swing a ground ball , it’s under the glove of the first baseman Toro trickles out to the outfield grass and Then a shovel attempt by Gonzalez and that goes nowhere. And so Abrams will take 3rd 1st and 3rd to pitch to garcia garcia hits it down to first. A run will score and Then they will get wood in the rundown. That double play will end the inning, but the Nets will get on the board and it’s Nathaniel Lowe here in the bottom of the fourth swing, a crowd ball hits the leg of the pitcher deflects to the third baseman Eaton picks it up, throws to first but Toro wasn’t on the bag and so Lowe will get an infield hit. Josh belt clean single to right first time and josh Bell is two for two. Here’s Dan Lyle and he’s gonna drop one out to center Ricky Gutierrez already has the hands up for Lowe at third with an infield hit a bell grunder and Lyle loads him up. Well, one out here, it’s a huge spot for Quebec Ruiz and down to first return throw coming to the pitcher and to beat it out and that will get the Nats that second run with Nathaniel Lowe crossing the plate and Walker Buehler is still out there. The four hitter Nathaniel Lowe. Yeah, Paul is cranked out to center on the retreat and not able to reach it. Paul hits the wall on a fly. Nathaniel Lowe is going to have another triple ground ball base hit right field for Bell that will bring in Nathaniel Lowe. Bell has three consecutive singles to right and he picks up an RB I in this one. It’s now 93. Boston Bell now has 36 RBS and that will be all for Bueller here in the sixth. He’ll turn it over to Eduardo Salazar for the eighth inning. Toro today has struck out swinging lined out to second and reached on the error by the pitcher. Parker is grounded toward first and it’s a fair ball off the glove of Lowe into the outfield to is going to try it. He runs first. He’s in the second base. These nationals have made a mess of this game defensively. Toro takes advantage and he’s at second base to begin this inning with a man in scoring position and a line drive to right. That’s going to keep on bouncing and rolling deep into the corner. Toro will score. Sedan hits second on his way to 30 falls. He fell down and he’s going to be tagged out. He had an easy triple. Now we’ll see if he’s ok. Hopefully he’s all right. He was thinking three the whole time, but as he rounded second just got his feet caught. Red Sox leading it 10 to 3. Be an RB. I double continues to swing the bank jumped all over. Now, he’s using the whole field doubled off the right center wall just wiped out the Red Sox will bring all Colin to the mile a right hand to try to finish this one up as we take you to the bottom of the ninth day, Lyle swinging a shot toward the middle on one hop by Trevor story to throw a across and in time there’s one away, one for three RB, a grounder deep drive to right field but not deep enough as Anthony backs up plenty of space out there. Two, up, two down, one more to get 02 on the way. And in there for strike three Red Sox seal it with a K 10 3 the final and taking the series and the Red Sox have also now won 10,000 games in their franchise history.
