Inside the 2025 NHL Draft with the San Jose Sharks
really what’s up. You know, we’re ready. We’ve spent, believe it or not, we’ve probably spent the last two years on this group. You see them as underersers. You you watch them play for multiple years, and we spent the last nine and a half months analyzing them, going through it this year. So, we’re ready to go. Like we say at the beginning of every year, this is our one way as amateur scouts to to help impact the organization and we know you build through the draft. We know how important it is and you know, we feel like we’re really prepared. I’m really proud in our group and and how much work we put in. I think it’s a see as you go. I mean, we’ve done our own stuff eternally and we’re really only focused on our our own lists. You know, we’ve spent the time. and we’ve talked about every possible scenario you can think of and I think we’re ready to go whichever direction the draft may go. Honestly, it’s it’s nice to be in in be here as a group in San Jose and obviously management lives here and I think from a from a like an organizational standpoint it’s nice to be here where the team is and the and the team will be and the players are coming in for the development camp. So, there’s a lot of great things that way. In terms of how the draft goes, this is we’re going to see. Um I’m curious how it goes. I’m curious how the players think. Um, curious and and what we think at the end of the day, how it went. You know, it’s all new, but it is nice to be here in San Jose. Whether, you know, things remain this way or not, it’s really we’re going to see how it goes tonight. With the second overall selection in the 2025 NHL draft, the San Jose Sharks are proud to select from the Sagena spirit, Michael Misa. So it is Misa an elite offensive talent Sagenov’s highest player they’ve ever had drafted number two over
we’ve watch Misa Michael for the last three years being exceptional status so this has been a decision and process from for a long time but in terms of the player um you know like Mike said he’s a 200 foot player uh his ability to score create offense um he’s strong on pucks he has a presence on pucks uh dual threat at both off the rush in zone in terms of how he generates offense. And again, because he put up such high numbers that I think some of his ability to wait from the puck gets overlooked. So, we really like his details. We really like where he is and the possible fit that um we see for years to come. With the 30th overall selection in the 2025 NHL draft, the San Jose Sharks are proud to select from the Prince George Cougars, Joshua Ravensburgen. [Music] All right. All right. All right. Week seat. So, chalk that up. Just two Southpaw goalies. Now, they traded for Ascarov last year. He’s a southpaw, very promising young goalender for the San Jose Sharks to get Ravensburg in from Prince George Cougars who as I mentioned earlier in the show has some similarities to Logan Thompson. Oh, he’s a he’s a big kid, athletic, has a lot of character, just just a nice kid, driven, and we like that in players. You know, we’re happy with Michael at number two and obviously getting a goalie with that athleticism and size. Uh yeah, know it was it it was a good day overall. The guys do a lot of a lot of hard work during the year. Um there’s a lot of due diligence background obviously live viewings, video. It’s just it’s a long year for the guys and uh you know it it’s it ends here. We make a list and then you know we pick the players who are there in the board and and and we’re happy with what we got today
in the second round of the 2025 NHL draft. the 33rd overall pick. The San Jose Sharks have selected Simon Wong from Ashawa of the Ontario Hockey League. You know, Simon’s a big kid. Skates well, has a lot of character. Has a unique story coming over from China as a 12 or 13 year old kid moving away from home. I believe the mom come over a little later. Um he’s driven. It just uh there was a uniqueness to him that uh we really took a liking to. Uh, but mostly the ability to skate at that size and and the character and drive and the want. This kid wants to be a player. He’s proven that by his actions.
With the 21st pick in the second round of the 2025 NHL draft, the San Jose Sharks have selected Cole McKini in the national team development program in the USL.
All right, Cole McKini there. Another character guy, 200 foot player, strong, likes to play the physical game, heavy shot, uh going to college, University of Michigan. So, a long path for his development. He’s just uh another guy who just fell on the board and uh we’re happy with the pick. You’ve watched the Stanley Cup finals, didn’t you? Well, it gets it’s heavy lifting when you get into the playoffs, right? The end goal for this organization is to get to the Stanley Cup and win games in the playoffs. And it’s a lot of heavy lifting, you know, and uh Cole and some of the other guys we’ve selected. It’s it’s a bit of a trend. That’s what we’re trying to build around here. And it’s he fits in like a glove.
Saw Teddy Mutrin, a centerman go to San Jose at pick 95. A centerman out of Chicago of the USHL, committed to Boston College, and that’s a pretty familiar school. Uh big kid, strong, athletic, physical, uh it just a detailed type of a player. Uh lunch lunch peel hard hat type like you know the physical but able to produce offense too. Um he’s got another year of junior hockey and the plan right now is for him to metriculate to Boston College. So there’s a runway for him to continue to to grow his game. But uh yeah, he’s he’s a good good valued pick at that spot for us.
With pick number 115, San Jose selects Ilas Midsultanov from Yaroslav Jr., Russia.
Yep. He’s a very physical player. A good skating. Um he’s a physical kid. He skates. He’s disruptive. uh you know, when he’s on the ice, um the other teams got to have their head on a swivel when he’s on the ice. He uh he likes to create uh havoc contact. Um he’s just a physical, strong, fast player that uh you know, we we liked. Yeah, he’s he’s he’s more of a defensive defenseman. Uh that just brings more of an element of uh just a hardness, hard physical, but the pace um to go with that physicality is is what’s appealing and the size.
With the 124th overall pick, San Jose selects Zachary Sharp from Western Michigan NCAA.
Zach’s uh uh a two-year through the draft, an ’05 birth. He’s uh he’s a he’s a good strong skater. Uh transports the puck well. Uh plays a simple offensive game, makes a nice first pass, uses his feet and speed to defend well. Um not he’s physical, but he’s not overly physical, but he’s uh he uses his footwork, uh smarts, and simple just puck moving kind of a a kid. But we thought value. He’s playing in college, so he’s playing against much older kids. So, uh, it was a good gauge for us to to see, uh, at that juncture of the draft.
San Jose with the 150th overall pick, Max Heis from Pentictton of the BCHL.
Is a an offensive player. He’s uh, was initially in the BCHL transitioning over to the Western Hockey League this year. and the plan right now he’ll metriculate to Michigan State for college, but he’s a another long-term type of a long runway type of a player, but he has an offensive upside, has some size, um some skill skating. So, he’s a he’s a nice again a nice value pick here uh for us. Galant is a guy that everyone pointed out is like got that sneaky skill. He’s under the radar, but they love him as a teammate and I love him as a player. you know, we know we know back. We are our area guys and Mike and so we obviously have some knowledge there with him prior to it. And and then with McKenna and Galan, I mean, all three guys bring a high level of compete. They bring a high motor. Obviously, Galan is, you know, on the smaller side in terms of what, you know, he’s not 6’2, he’s not 6’3. Um, but I think if you spend any time watching him, he plays like that. Um, so we’ve talked about all along we want to bring in, you know, highly competitive kids. And although all three were taken in different spots, the one common denominator is that they’re highly highly competitive kids. At the end of the day, you you watch the playoffs. That’s the goal to get to the playoffs. And it’s heavy lift. And I I know I say that a lot, but uh it’s physical, it’s compete, uh it’s will, you know, we got some guys that play all over the ice, and that’s what we’re looking for. Uh, I’ve been here, this is my third draft along with Chris Mohouse, the director of amateur scouting. And, you know, I feel like like the previous two years, it’s kind of I think I think it’s worked out pretty well in in a short look right now. And we trust what we’re doing. We have good scouts. Mike trusts what we do. And, you know, at the end of the day, we we have we have a strong board. And especially this year, the board just played to us and we’re happy with all the selections.

That teal jacket really making Fitzgerald's eyes pop. I bet if you cut him, he bleeds teal.
Sharks killed it at the draft this year 👏🏼👏🏼🦈.
please make more videos like this
Get Misa and Smith on a high protein diet, and have them hit the weight training room doing lots of heavy compound movements….impossible to not build muscle and strength that way especially at their age. We don’t have a big team so we need to get stronger 💪
These are the videos that the Sharks fans want! Super cool!
The thumbnail with Scott Fitzgerald gives "Come on in and sit down, son. We need to have a talk with you." energy
33rd overall pick was wasted on that Chinese kid. Couldve drafted a real D-man for the 30th pick.
Can't wait to see Wang in teal. Incredible skater and he's a monster on the ice. Great draft by GMMG and team.
