Shavon Revel || From Overnight Amazon Worker to The Dallas Cowboys!

Siobhan Rall is a quarterback that has a huge opportunity with the Dallas Cowboys. This is a player that is locked in and ready to make a difference as soon as he takes the field. He has been through a lot before being drafted by the Cowboys from working 10our shifts with his dad at Amazon, playing for Lewisburg College in JO as well as getting in a bad car accident that ended his season and tearing his ACL. This is a guy that has been through a lot, but he is extremely talented and wants to prove that he is one of the best. Coming in at 6’2 and weighing in at 194 lbs, he sports a rangy 32 plus inch wingspan. And this is what NFL coaches love to see in the boundary corner. He pairs that frame with explosive numbers. A 4440 dash, 39 in vertical, and 11 ft broad jump, showing he can open his stride to erase vertical routes, yet still redirect in the foam booth. This is an athlete that coaches love, especially with his size and long arms, particularly with the size of the wide receivers in the NFL. He has what it takes to be a physical compliment to Trayvon Diggs, but he’s going to have to go out there and make a statement. So, let’s break this player down and see a closeup of what this player could do. So, on this play here, you can see what makes Rell special. His long arms help him block passes. He keeps his balance while backpedaling and moves smoothly to knock the ball away. Everything looks easy. His hit movement, footwork, and timing are all spot-on when he reaches out to break up the pass. These are the things that you want to see from your young cornerback coming in. So, we go ahead and run it. So, locking on this play here, just studying Shon Rail. You can just see that he’s a smooth player. Very good footwork on this play. Just watching that quarterback and he quickly flips those hips. And the thing is, we see a lot of this when it comes down to the NFL combine. So, that smooth movement matters when it comes down to these corners. And not only that, having those long arms to be able to stretch and break up that pass. and he could have intercepted this ball right here, but it’s always good to see a player that can be able to get their hands on the ball. And with coaches like Matt Eberloose as well as Dan Quinn when he was here, they love to be able to have those tall corners, guys with long arms to be able to stress out these wide receivers. And what I saw on film is not perfect when it comes to him, but you will see a lot of good plays in zone, a lot of good man-to-man plays where he’s giving these wide receivers the press kit. But this is a player here that’s going to have to stack it all up and lay it all on the field. And with a lot of these quarterbacks in the NFL now, some of these guys are 6’2, they’re 6’3, but they’re not as snappy as guys that’s 6 foot or 6’1. But it is different when it comes down to a guy like Siobhan Real, a player who was arguably one of the top quarterbacks coming out of this draft and someone who I think that’s going to make a difference once this player sees the field. But seeing him showing that he can be smooth, use those long arms and break up this pass was great to see by the young corner. Here’s a play that I really like from him where he was grilling the wide receiver and playing close to the line of scrimmage. The good thing about Rall, he understands great positioning when the receiver releases, finding a way to maintain hip pocket coverage and shielding the wide receiver from being able to make a play on the ball. And he once again uses those long arms to break up the pass. So we’ll go ahead and split it to lock on this play here. Here you see the wide receiver had a good release. But the thing is when it comes down to a player like Siobhan Real, he has those long strides and that ability to play hip pocket coverage. And when you’re going up against a quarterback like him, if you are running those fade routes to the sideline, he has a big enough body to be able to post you up and find ways to be able to break down these passes. Now, he didn’t have a lot of interceptions coming out of college. There were a lot of times that I saw where he got his hands on the ball, but he wasn’t able to take the ball away. He is a raw player, but he is truly athletic and he has shown that every time this player has taken the field from high school playing in Jo as well as being one of the top players for East Carolina. Health is key when it comes down to this player. He’s only had 12 starts in his career before tearing his ACL. And he also needs to have live reps against top competition because the competition wasn’t that good as far as East Carolina, but you can see the athleticism. You can see the aggression from this player, but he’s going to have to lock in and go out there and go prove it. So, I don’t want to go out there and just completely gas a player. A lot of these players, they show a lot of good things on the field, but there are a lot of things that this player needs to work on as well. Sometimes you’ll see him pressing the wide receiver and completely remove him out the play. But then there are other times where he’s grabby, having six flags throughout college for defensive pass interferences as well as holding calls. So technique refinement is definitely needed. But with Rell, he has shown that he has what it takes to be able to get it done. Here’s a clip where we see Rell’s great vision and ability to read plays, watching both the quarterback and the route at the same time. His patience is key here. staying far enough away that the quarterback doesn’t even notice him, but close enough to make a play on the ball, intercepting it and taking it to the house. So, we go ahead and run it. So, locking on this play here, you can just see the sneakiness when it comes down to this guy. I love that when it comes down to these corners, seeing that wide receiver being lazy and rounding off with his route and next thing you know, he quickly breaks to the ball. When you’re playing at quarterback position, you got to have that closing speed and find ways to be able to make these big- time plays. And these are the plays here that I’m talking about. I know that this player can be able to do it. He has that vision to be able to make those game-changing plays. And this is what you want out the quarterback position. And as far as watching this player all throughout his career, I’ve seen this player thrive in press coverage as well as off coverage as well. He does get beat from time to time in both, but there’s more good plays than bad, for sure. And you could just see this player’s long arms on film. That is so good to see because leverage is everything when it comes down to this position. If you have that god-given ability with long arms and being able to press these guys out to create that leverage, it is everything when it comes down to the defense. But seeing him watch that wide receiver run that lazy route and capitalizing off of this play was great to see by Reale. One thing I like about Rell is his physicality, stepping up and making key stops in the run game. His tackling isn’t perfect, but you can definitely see his effort on film. And this physicality is essential when going up against elite competition at the next level. So, we’ll go ahead and spin it. So, lock on this play here. You see that he’s lined up outside that tight end. They’re running a quick draw play and he steps up and delivers the boom. It’s good to be able to see that physicality when it comes down to the quarterback position because there are some NFL quarterbacks now that are not stepping up and making these kind of plays. Not only do you need to be a good cover corner, but you got to go out there and tackle well, especially when you’re going up against these slippery wide receivers as well as these running backs at the next level. And in 2024, he only played in three games due to that ACL injury. But in 2023, he was second team all AAC and he had 53 tackles, 13 pass breakups, and one interception for a touchdown. But those 53 tackles are definitely solid work when it comes down to this player. But seeing him stepping up and being physical and stopping that running back before he reached the end zone was big time. One of the things that Rall needs to work on is when wide receivers are getting leverage in the inside and running those crosser routes. He’s not perfect and is still a raw player, but making sure he has good positioning will be crucial for him once he gets to the NFL. So, let’s run it. So, locking on this play here, you see that wide receiver, he’s storming off and getting that inside leverage. And a lot of these wide receivers, if they can get inside quickly, they can have the advantage for the entire play. But you see that the wide receiver breaks more inside at the top of his route and takes off running towards the sideline and securing the catch. And even when he’s practicing against a player like CD Lamb, with Lamb, he is a very snappy athlete. So you have to have great positioning at the snap of the ball because if not, you might not have the athleticism to be able to recover. But iron sharpens iron, I’m sure that Lamb’s going to get this player ready to go. It’s all about having that short-term memory. If you do get beat, how quickly can you recover? And with Siobhan Rail, he definitely recovers well. He might get beat, but he moves on to that next play because he knows he has what it takes to be able to make up for it. Here we see a play with the scissors route, which offenses used to confuse defenders. The two receivers cross paths, and if the defenders make even a small mistake, one of these two receivers can get open quickly. On this play, Rale bumps into his teammate, allowing the receiver to break free for an easy touchdown. It’s not entirely Rale’s fault, but the defense needs better communication to prevent these kind of breakdowns. So, let’s run it. So, looking at this play here, he gets his hands on a wide receiver, but that defender next to him was not paying attention and revail bumps right into him. And all it takes is for one person to make a mistake and it can be able to ruin the whole entire play. It’s all about having that communication so these guys can be on the right page because once you get to the next level, you will see all types of concepts, finding ways to exploit defenders and pit these guys in the blender. And like I said, when it comes down to the cornerback position, we got to show the good plays. We got to show the bad plays because with these corners in the NFL, they’re not perfect. There is always room for these players to be able to grow. I don’t think that it was his fault on his play, but I definitely had to show y’all this clip because these miscues can definitely happen if you’re not paying attention. Being in a wrong position and the offense quickly using that as their advantage. Another thing Rell needs to work on is staring at the quarterback too much while in zone coverage. This allows receivers to gain enough separation for chunk plays, and that could be backbreaking when it comes down to the team. So, let’s run it. So like on this play here, you see that they’re playing in zone coverage and you see that he got his eyes right at the quarterback, not paying attention to the wide receiver, and he was able to have enough separation for a chunk play. So the film does show that there are good and bad when it comes down to this player. But we got to keep in mind he is very raw, but he has shown to be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks out of this draft class. But it’s all about getting this player in the right position. But coaching is going to be extremely important. Using his eyes well and making sure that he has an understanding of what these wide receivers are trying to do because if you’re staring at the quarterback too much and zone coverage that allows these wide receivers to find their spot. But being with a player like Trayvon Diggs, I think that is absolute fireworks. They are about the same size and someone that I think that can be able to man that quarterback position, but he’s going to have to get in there and get that experience. And I think in due time he can be one of the top corners in the NFL pound-for-pound. But I don’t want them to rush him as far as that knee injury, get this player healthy so he can be utilized when these games really matter. So on this final play here, this was a great heads up play for Real seeing the running back cough the ball up and scooping it up and scoring a touchdown. And it seemed as though he was the only guy that knew the ball was on the ground and he quickly capitalized on that opportunity. So let’s run it. So running this play here, you see that that linebacker steps up and he aims for his legs. And you see with the running back, he did stay up for a little bit, but that defender there jarred the ball loose. And all of the other 10 defenders did not know that the ball was on the ground except Siobhan Real. So he quickly scoops it up and takes off. This is what you love to see when it comes down to your defenders. Cowboys Nation, [Music] you got to have that vision. If you see that mistake, you got to get yourself in position to make a big play. And sometimes when you can have a backb breaking play like this, it can be able to change momentum when it comes down to these games. And having players like Dak Prescott, CD Lamb, George Pickkins is fireworks. So, if you can be a player that can be able to intercept the ball, jar the ball loose, it’s going to just take those players to the top. And this defense needed more dynamic players. I think that with him, if he did not have that knee injury, he was one of those talents that was definitely going in the first round. So, it’s going to be good to see if this player can translate this to the next level. So, it’s going to be good to see how it all unfolds when it comes down to the quarterback position. When you have players like Trayvon Diggs that’s nursing that injury, you got Shioone Rail with the ACL injury. You got players like Don Bland as well as players like Kier Illum. I think that you have to bring another guy in here. If it’s Stefon Gilmore, they have to find that veteran. So, in those first four or five games, this team will be fine at the position and we will keep this thing rolling. But as far as Siobhan Braille, he has the athleticism. He has the ability to be able to press. You see good things when he’s off coverage, but he’s going to have to stack these things together. It’s not perfect when it comes down to him, but he has a unique talent as well as frame to be able to make a difference. and going up against George Pickkins and CD Lamb, that can only get you better. So, that is going to be big time to see. And that goes for all the corners. So, comment below and let me know what you guys think about Siobhan Real. 1. JC, you have the best Cowboys videos because you are not afraid to show the bad plays too! Paints an accurate picture of the player we are getting.

I didn't love the pick on Draft night, but I hope he develops like they think he can

  2. This draft can become one of those benchmark drafts for us, where future drafts are evaluated against, and Revel is a huge part of that. I love his work ethic, dedication, and also the loyalty he has to his Fam, not even mentioning what he can bring on the field, as you so eloquently showed. Kid is A1 in my book. Another banger JC 🔥 🫡
