Was really curious to see if they’d drop Oakland from the A’s name in a game from almost 25 years ago. They absolutely did. Every other team has a city attached to their name. Hell, even the Expos are still there. The Angels are the Anaheim Angels, the Rays are the Devil Rays still, the Marlins are the Florida Marlins, and the Astros are in the NL. All that stuff from 2001 is still there. But Oakland? Nah fuck em. MLB really is that petty. The only other modernized team name is the Guardians.

From what i heard the announcer still says Oakland when you select them in-game. I can’t personally confirm this as I haven’t bought the game yet.
