I’m your host Marshall Green. Appreciate everybody for watching and everybody that just hit that subscribe button. That helps us out a lot here at the channel. Free agent targets for the New York Knicks. They have two roster spots open. One of them is going to be either Mohamd Diawara or James Naji for that rookie minimum salary spot and they have a veteran minimum spot that they can target. Before we get to the free agents that did not play for the Knicks, let’s start with the guys that did play for the Knicks last year. Landry Shamut. Should the New York Knicks bring him back? I would not mind Shamut coming back. And to be honest, you’re going to hear me say I would not mind for a lot of these players. You know why? because it’s roster spot 13. It’s for the veteran a minimum salary and it’s not the end of the world if that guy is not a major contributor. But there are things that I like Sham that Sham could do. He showed that he could play in the playoffs, can show up in a big moment. He hits some big shots. He can defend multiple positions. I’d be okay with bringing Lance Sham back. I haven’t heard too much discussion around him coming back. Neither have I have heard that for Dylon Wright. Um, if it came to Wright and Shamut, I think I would lean a little bit more actually to Dylon Wright for a veteran point guard they could have. You have Jaylen Brunson and you have Tyler Kulk. Then you have guys like Jordan Carson and Miles McBride that could play point guard, but you don’t have a legit veteran point guard. Wright could do that. You won games with him starting last year. He could defend as well. Um, I would not mind him being back here either. Preach Chua, I don’t think he’s coming back and I don’t know how much he’s going to get on the open market. We’re two weeks into free agency. We haven’t heard much on AUA. He didn’t sign till August though last year. If Acha wants to come sign for the veteran minimum, sure, but I think the Knicks have moved on as they prioritize signing Gershon Yabiselli over him in free agency. I don’t think any of the three players to be honest though that we have talked about are going to be back. If there is any veteran that was on the Knicks last year that does come back for that minimum spot, I think it’ll be PJ Tucker for a locker room veteran presence. You look at the roster right now. Brunson, Bridges, Anobi, Towns, Robinson, McBride, Kolic, Clarkson, Dier, Hart, Yabiselli, and Huckporty. You got 12 players on the team. What do the Knicks need when you look at this roster? We talked about a veteran point guard could make some sense. I think another true wing, like legit small forward could make some sense. Those guys usually don’t sign for the veteran minimum. And maybe another backup center could make some sense. I think Chris Paul is someone the Knicks should target to run that second unit. Um, but it sounds like he wants to be a starter somewhere and this is going to be his final year in the NBA and he wants to play a lot. I think the idea of Chris Paul makes sense for this ball club. I just don’t think the fit when it comes to what he is looking for is what we provide. Malcolm Brogden is someone that I think could be a good fit. He could shoot it, he could score it. Former six man of the year, been in the NBA a lot of time. Has good experience. he can create shots for himself and create shots for others. He just misses a lot of time. And the Knicks have had a couple of chances to go out and pursue Malcolm Brogden. They’ve never fully uh gotten it done. Obviously, he’s never been a nick. And I wonder if that kind of just paints the picture that Brogden is not exactly their cup of tea, but when you’re for the veteran minimum, uh people’s opinions can change very quickly. We’ve heard some rumors about Ben Simmons and the New York Knicks and those rumors kind of came to a stop as in we haven’t heard anything more about them. I think Simmons would be a perfect fit for the Vetman. How many minutes does he get? Maybe it’s not all that much. But when you’re talking about what he does, he still defends. They could still handle the ball. He could still playmake. He can rebound. He’s an athlete. And he’s 6’11. For the vet men, I don’t need anyone to score. I don’t need anyone to shoot. Can you handle? Can you defend? Can you push the pace? Can he rebound? Simmons still does that. As does Russ Russell Westbrook, who scores it a little bit better at this point. Um, there were rumors about the Knicks being interested in Westbrook on day one of free agency. There were rumors that Westbrook was interested in the New York Knicks. I’ll just ask you, should the Knicks sign Russell Westbrook to their final roster spot? TypeS for sign, type for pass. I probably lean on passing on Russell Westbrook at this moment. Yeah, I probably just lean on passing on Westbrook. Uh, look, he’s going to be a first ballot hall of famer. No reason to say anything not nice about him, but personally, I just don’t necessarily think that his fit on the New York Knicks makes all that much sense. I don’t know if I want him playing with Josh Hart, just like I don’t know if I love Ben Simmons playing next to Josh Hart. But Westbrook’s one of those guys that when he’s on your team, he’s a part of the team and he’s going to want to play minutes and it’s 13th roster spot. I don’t know how many minutes are there. We got a lot more players to talk about. We also got to talk about our sponsor of today’s show and that is Ridge. Once a Nick, always a Nick and maybe a Nick again. Alec Burks is a free agent. Actually didn’t play too bad for the Miami Heat last year. If you’re looking for a veteran that could shoot it, score it, put the offense in motion, Burks could be that guy. We’ve heard some rumors about Gary Payton the second being someone that draws some attention uh from the New York Knicks. He’s like a mini me Josh Hart. Um except he’s even worse of a shooter and he doesn’t score nearly all that much. Exactly. Um he can defend it though. Multiple positions. I’d be cool with that. Seth Curry on the other hand, one of the best shooters in the NBA. We’ll be interested in him. No doubt about it. I think the Knicks lack an elite sniper from three. Um the position versatility is a question mark here. The defensive versatility and overall performance is a major red flag for me for the vet men and you want to shoot 50% from three like he does, come on down. Air Coffee is someone I am interested in and I don’t know if he is a vet minimum guy at this point but a 6’7 210 lb wing that shot 41% from three last year has the athleticism to get up and down the court. If he’s willing to take a vet, the Knicks could use a true swingman like coffee. Trey Ma Trey Miles, Trey Lyles played under Mike Brown in Sacramento. Someone I think we all should keep our eyes on for that. I don’t know if the Knicks necessarily need another backup forward when it comes to the power forward spot. He went out and got Yaposelli. Um he can play center though, a little bit under size, but he’s shown the ability to do that. Thomas Bryant once a member of the Miami Heat. Last played for the Indiana Pacers. I don’t really know if I’m all that interested in them. He did hit some dagger shots against the New York Knicks from the corner in uh game six, which I I still can’t believe that Thomas Bryant hit shots against us. Um if you want our center, sure, but you’re not getting you’re not you’re not getting a rise out of me for Thomas Bryant. Chris Bush is another player I’m interested in. The Knicks were interested in him in the trade deadline last year. The Knicks were also interested in Clarkson at the trade deadline. They were interested in Yabiscelli at the trade deadline. Maybe they circle the wagons and run it back with Chris Bucher. He could shoot it. Uh uh he could score it. He’s shown the ability to shoot it. He can get up and down in transition. He’s an elite athlete. He can throw it down. His dunk highlight tapes a lot better than a lot of people have thought. For the vet men, I’ll take him. Delano Bannon is someone that I would be interested in as well. 6’9 wing, can handle like a guard. Uh not the most efficient scorer, averaged eight points last year for Portland. Can guard a couple different positions. A wing. A wing is what I kind of am looking for. And B fits that bold as does Cody Martin from the Phoenix Suns. Um could defend athlete can take up some minutes. Uh I’d be cool with Cody Martin. I’d be cool with a lot of these players. Which player do you want though? That’s my question to you. Name a free agent you want the New York Knicks to sign. Comment that player’s name down below. And look, if the Knicks make a move, we are going to make a video. Marcus Smart
Gimme banton
P
Give me Westbrook!!!
We get Energy!!!
Why are we keeping MB?
Simmons or Berks again. Berks can play the three at times with OG moving to the four to rest Robinson and Kat. Dont need another 6'3 guard.
No on Russā¦Dadiet may be the pure shooter we need.
Ben simmons
Coffey or Brogdon
Ben Simmons is the best option . Ben can Guard 5 positions , Can bring the Ball up , and Play-make . Ben Simmons is basically a 6ā11 Josh Hart . Why not get him before he raises his value again . This team has the best foundation since he Played with Thybulle, Josh Richardson and Horford .
I would love to have Dalano Banton or Chris Boucher!! If released by Wash, I would really like Marcus Smart!! š„š„š„
If we Sign Ben Simmons and Resign Kevin McCullar . We would have 5 interchangeable Wing Defenders . We would actually be able to give OG , Mikal and Maybe even hart a Rest . Not to Mention McBride PG/SG and Paint Defenders Robinson ,Hukporti and Nnaji
I think Westbrook can benefit off his shooting success in the playoffs he knows he can now 36 37 percent along with everything else he provides would be good for any team searching for a vet min guy
Is it about the 13th roster spot or are we trying to improve the team anyway we can?
Get it done already.
I know many do not like him, but for the last roster piece and at the veteran minimumā¦
Ben Simmons gives the next, by far, the highest potential ceiling along with the most versatility. I donāt think anyone expects him to be what people thought he was a few years ago, but he doesnāt have to be
He can still be a a wheat passer, ball, handling, and scoring option who could be a plus defender at four different spots
I think these moves would give them Nickās the best starting five and deepest possible roster in the entire Eastern conferenceā¦
Trade
Kat, deuce, Dadiet and picks/swaps
Two bucks for
Giannis
Trade
Mitch and McCuller Jr
Two Lakers for
Dalton Knecht and Vanderbilt
Sign
Shamet, Delon wright and Ben Simmons to vet min deals
No please, the Knicks donāt need to be a laughingstock again
Why??? Just why are we even talking about Ben Simmons? We have a championship caliber team. Why bring a cancer onto the team? I never ever heard a single person say anything even good about him so just because it's cheap doesn't mean it will work.
Knicks need a 3pt specialist. Bridges is not a true SG. No one on the bench is a great 3pt shooter.
What do you think about Cory Joseph?
Westbrook loose every where he goes
Delano Banton perfect
I said it once and Iāll it again⦠No No No No Nope Not Ahh Hell No! On Ben. Iām not hating. Iām sure Ben could be a good basketball player. I just donāt think his mental state is just there yet still. And we are too close to a chip to deal with a project like that right now. But bless him on his journey.
Banton, or Boucher would be fire
Ben Simmons is literally the perfect piece. Everytime I hear us mention a guard i cringe kuz it means another season of Kolek not getting any mins smh. We already have JB, Mikal, Deuce, Clarkson, kolek as guards we need a backup 3 or a bigman for when mitch inevitably goes down with his annual injury. Ben checks all those boxes as he can play the backup 4 or 5 and run the offense as well. We dont need him to shoot or score much. Grab rbs, push the pace and playmake. He looked really good last yr with Lac.
Coffey or Boucher would be good free agents to sign.
4:59 I think Russ is exactly what we need. I love my squad, but we are a little soft Russell will bring that grit that old school. Iāll punch you in the face. We donāt have nobody like that on the team right now.
Oh hell no to ben and russ. lets be real here. Locker room stuff is relevant. Both would be bad fits.
I would do Landry shamet the chemistry aspect and defense and shooting could be what we need off the bench I hope deuce starts so we could have Clarksok and hart br the primary ball handlers
I really like the idea of Ben because Mikal can run with the second unit pick up the scoring and Ben can be the primary defender on the floors best player.
P
Bro marsh yiu did a vid about the in season tournament and if the Knicks can win it all
'P'
Somewhere deep inside , Ben Simmons still has that LSU DOG mentality. Ben Simmons can still be him.
Ben Simmons can definitely be beneficial when we run a small ball lineup
I hit that!! Pause (Sub button). Maybe Mike Brown is the key to unlocking simmons one last time
Ben Simmons is probably the worst option. Canāt make a jump shot nor free throws. Has become incredibly soft. Only played 53% over entire career and not out for only physical reasons. Iām good
