Grade the Trade – Lauri Markkanen to the Warriors

I got a Warriors jazz trade I think works. But hear me out. Let me know what you think. It’s the Hoopser Show. [Music] All right, guys. Like always, make sure you like the video, subscribe to the channel. All right, so the rumors about Lowry Markin are starting to pick up a tiny bit. Zack Low on his most recent podcast talked about how he believes that now that Utah has made all these different moves, trading John Collins, Colin Ston, Jordan Clarkson, that Lowry Markin’s trade trade rumors, trade whatever is going to be sooner than later. And I have a trade between the Warriors and the Jazz that I think really works for both teams. So here’s what it is. The Utah Jazz trade to the Golden State Warriors Lowry Markin. That’s it. They trade Lowry Markin to the Golden State Warriors. And the Warriors who are obviously in a standstill with Kaminga and are in a bunch of trade rumors themselves, I think would happily bring on Lowry Mark. And we know that last off season they would have taken him. So we know that there’s interest there. What the Warriors give to the Jazz is they actually set up a signing trade. So this trade can work. Utah has given Lowry Markin and he’s going to make 46 million give or take next season. So what the what both teams can do, the Utah Jazz can do a sign and trade with the Warriors. They sign Jonathan Kaminga for like 42 million or whatever it is so that the salaries match and they send him to the Utah Jazz. And what the Utah Jazz can do is they can do like a $42 million contract with Kaminga and possibly do a secondyear player option or something like that. So they don’t give a crazy long-term contract to Jonathan Kaminga. Kaminga can come to Utah where he will get minutes. He’ll get those Lowry Markin minutes that he would have gotten and that makes it work. Now Utah’s not trading Lowry Markin who is an established solid player that would fit perfectly in Golden State next to Jimmy Butler, next to Steph Curry, Draymond Green. He would be an incredible fit next to them with his offball play. Lowry Markin can play off the ball with anyone. It’s what makes him so valuable. He’s a 7 foot big who can shoot at a high volume from the three-point line. You basically it’s like getting old school Klay Thompson or Klay Thompson light, whatever you want to call it. But to make this happen for Utah, to make it worth it for Utah to give this player to the Warriors, for Kaminga, who has shown signs, but is not as proven a player as Lowry Markin, they give Utah their 2028 protected first round pick in 2032. I believe under the new CBA, you can trade picks out for seven years. I believe that the Warriors have done a trade with the Washington Wizards in 2031 or something like I can’t remember exactly, but 20 28 32 it works. They send that to the Utah Jazz completely unprotected. Those are picks in the future that Utah could take advantage of possibly post Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Makes those picks extremely valuable. So, two first round picks, unprotected Kaminga, Lowry Markin, and it works. And Utah can give, in fact, if Utah’s really smart and they can make it happen, they can give Kaminga 42 million and then a team option for the second year. For Utah, you bring on Kaminga. If you can do a player option the second season, that’s that’s great because if he does not play well, then you don’t have to pick up the option. You can also go and if he does really well then you can renegotiate and extend him long term. Utah could have a lineup of Taylor Hendris, Jonathan Kaminga, Ace Bailey, Walker Kesler, and you’ve got yourself a young athletic core that can play defense that could work extremely well. And if Utah, who probably won’t win a lot of games next year, especially if they’re trading out Markin for Kaminga, it fits what Utah’s trying to do, can develop Kaminga like he hasn’t been able to in Golden State, or at least try. And if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t matter. You get two first round picks for marketin. You build your team around Ace Bailey and whoever you draft in next year’s draft, hopefully Darren Peterson or AJ Debonsa or Camboozer. And if if everything works out with Kaminga, then you’ve got yourself a really great piece as well. So, this works for both. Kaminga could start. Taylor Hendris, who is coming off of that horrific injury last year, could come off the bench behind Kaminga. You have Ace Bailey getting all those minutes. It would be phenomenal. Something that works. Guys, grade the trade. Let me know in the comments what you think. Is this something you would consider? Are you, if you’re a Warriors fan, would you do that? If you’re a Jazz fan, would you do it? Let me know. And as always, like and subscribe to the channel. Shout out to all the members, especially the allstars.

There are nba trade rumors going on and they all surround Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz and Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors. Should the Warriors take advantage of the last years of Steph Curry and Draymond Green by bringing on Lauri Markkanen by trade?

  1. Sure lets trade a 40 mil guy thats wants to be in Utah for another 40 mill guy that might not want to be in Utah. You ok? Are we giving draft assets for him too?

  2. I would consider it as the jazz but wouldn't be jumping out of my shoes to do it. Really I think Lauri staying might be better or find a team to give up 3 to 4 unprotected firsts.

  3. We’d be getting absolutely robbed. Kuminga is a bust, we shouldn’t trade for him let alone attach an extremely undesirable contract to him

  4. Keep Markkanen. Kuminga is the kind of guy who would come to Utah, think he’s better than Ace Bailey, and try to be the star even though he’s not. He would cause more problems than good. Lauri wants to be here. He loves it here. He still fits the timeline. Let him be the vet and leader for the younger guys. Get rid of Lauri and we literally have no vets on the roster.

  5. Currently our best player, Lauri, is 10 years older than our most talented player, Ace. Lauri will be way past his prime when the Jazz are competing for titles. Why hang on to a guy like Lauri while we suffer through the next few years of this total rebuild? Let him go compete for a chip, instead of just getting his ass kicked every night.

  6. Kuminga is worth maybe $25-30M, not $42M. Doing a short-term contract for Kuminga is also not ideal value for Markkanen. I'd rather just keep Markkanen in that scenario. However, adding those two 1st round picks, as well, might sway me.

  7. Grade: D
Two first round picks would be good but Kuminga for 42 million is kind of insane just for him to take up developmental time for these other players

  8. that’s not possible I believe. GSw has to sign a certain number of years for the sign-and-trade and because GSW can only bring back 1/2 of the value. They will need to even send at least 2 more players to Utah. Utah will end up having to take up salaries of up to 60mil for 3 players.
