REPORT New York Jets HIRE A New Senior Scout | TJ McCreight
All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, about 3 4 weeks ago, we got word that the Jets were bringing in longtime NFL scout TJ McCrate to the organization. Now, we didn’t know for how long. We didn’t know what role. Now, we do. Senior scout is his official role with the New York Jets. It’s updated on the Jets site just to uh you know double back and confirm here. Now this feels like a very 2025 New York Jets style of move where they’re bringing in experience. They’re bringing in a former player here. They’re bringing in someone with a working relationship with one of the guys uh pretty high up in the Jets front office which is Rick Spielman. TJ McCrae has spent a long long time in the NFL but most recently was uh contributing with the 33rd team. The 33rd team has worked a bunch with a lot of former NFL people, right? Whether that’s, you know, coaches or scouts or, you know, front office members. Obviously, the 33rd team assisted the Jets in their GM and head coaching search headed up by Mike Tannom and Rick Spielman. You know, as we all know, uh, when Darren Muji gets the job, they reach out, they bring Rick Spielman in. So it again it it feels very different like this new era of Jets football feels very different compared to like the Salah era, the Gase era, the Todd Bulls era where it it just felt like okay you’re recycling the GMs, you’re recycling the head coaches. This goround it feels like they’re really building it from the ground up. It seems like there has been a bunch of people that have been let go and a bunch of new faces have been added to this building. I mean, you look at the coaching staff, there’s only one coach that was retained. It was Shawn Jefferson at wide receiver coach. So, again, it it really feels like Aaron Glenn is heading this thing up. You know, he helps out with scouting. He is a former scout. He’s hands-on with the players. He’s hands-on with the coordinators and, you know, of course, the positional coaches. And then, of course, when it comes to the front office, you have Darren Muji running the show. But, at the end of the day, he is only 40. So, I like these additions of bringing in guys that have either held high positions or have been around the game for a long, long time. And TJ McCrae checks that box, right? Again, he knows Spielman through the 33rd team, but before working for them, he was with the Philadelphia Eagles and Howie Roseman for 5 years, uh, working in the player personnel department. And then before that, he was the director of college scouting with the Indianapolis Colts, 2012 to 2016. and then before that for two years director of player personnel for the Arizona Cardinals. So this is someone who’s held you know pretty significant positions within the uh you know within the front office here. And uh again you’re just adding knowledge you’re adding experience to this front office. And look to say oh the Jets made a move. We have to hype them up and everything like that. You you just behind the scenes right when you look past the names when you look past the news you could just see a blueprint here. You could just see a blueprint and it’s just so eerily similar to the team in Detroit known as the Lions, right? When the Lions got rid of Bob Quinn, when they got rid of Matt Patricia and the coaching staff, the dysfunction, the culture or lack thereof, it was just an absolute mess. and they needed someone to come in, write the ship, but a strong personality, someone that’s not going to be overwhelmed, someone that can connect with players, kind of get the locker room to buy into a new culture despite potential rough times ahead. And by that, I mean lots of losses. And the Jets obviously have had a lot of losses these past couple of seasons. And we need someone like that as well. and Aaron Glenn. I mean I mean you like you look at the sim similarities between Glenn and Dan Campbell. It is pretty crazy. Like working relationship aside. Glenn and Campbell are both old school guys. Both guys preach physicality aggression on the field both offensively and defensively. Uh while at the same time trying to be creative and thinking proactively. Both guys have a really really good reputation of working with players. players kind of respecting what these guys talk about, what they preach, what they coach, their coaching style. Both guys are known for developing players. Now, obviously, Dan Campbell has a lot to do with that because he’s been a head coach uh for a couple seasons now with the Detroit Lions. And you can I mean, just go down the list of all these great players that the Lions have drafted, right? Pen Suls St. Brown I Kirby Joseph, Brian Branch, all these different guys, right? We’ll see what happens with Tyrion Arnold, uh, you know, some other guys on the roster, Rake Shaw and whatnot. But, uh, we’ve seen Jerry Goff reach new heights. I think a lot of that has to do with Dan Campbell, the belief in him as a player, the belief from Brad Holmes as a general manager here. I I think that’s really rare and it’s a really good case study of someone who you look at from afar, right? Oh, Jared Goff. Yeah, you know what type of player he is. He’s a pocket passer. He’s he delivers accurate footballs. He can control an offense. He doesn’t get overwhelmed. uh but he’s not that superstar. He’s not going to be that guy that can elevate an offense to just extraordinary levels. He’s kind of past that with Detroit, right? Despite all those years with the Rams and even the first, you know, season, season and a half with the, you know, with Detroit, I mean, he’s really broken a barrier here. Just shattered the roof, if you will. I mean, we’re looking at the the numbers that Goff is has put up this past season. Crazy crazy production. And then of course you listen to the the locker room belief. The players love Jared Goff. Like he’s this fantastic leader for the Lions. It’s crazy. You know, again, entering the Detroit Lions locker room. It’s like, okay, we he’s kind of reached a ceiling. He is this pocket passer type of guy. Uh we know what we’re getting. Dan Campbell somehow pushed him pushed his game even further. Uh but I mean, man, the offensive line, we know what’s happening with the running back position. Jameson Williams, like Sam Leaporta, like the list goes on. It It’s an absolutely fantastic team and a lot of that is due to development. And of course, when you look at situations where Aaron Glenn has developed players or the responsibilities on Glenn’s plate, he has succeeded. We could of course talk about what happened in Detroit, but even going back to New Orleans. So again, TJ Mc Wright to kind of wrap this thing up here, Mc Wright being added to the front office, it just feels, and it’s crazy to say this, right, because we haven’t really had like moments like this, you know, because you could say like, “Oh, this feels like a Ravens style of move. This feels like uh like Derrick Harman. Oh, that that’s a classic Pittsburgh Steelers style of pick in the first round.” Like there’s just moves that are made where it just feels Yeah. like that’s something that that team would do. Feels like it’s in their DNA. But the Jets have a new DNA and I’m really really excited about it. Now, will that translate to 10, 11, 12 wins? I don’t know, right? I hope so this upcoming season, but I think it’s more so focused, hey, we got to create a culture. We have to set a vision. We have to set goals and also create a plan on how to get and reach those goals realistically speaking, right? the plan under Salah and Olrich and Hackit and Joe Douglas just felt like get good players, hopefully it works out. And you know, of course, there’s probably more behind the uh more behind the scenes on how they actually envision the team, but based off the offseason moves, free agent signings, draft picks, it just felt like let’s just try to get good players and it’s just all going to formulate on the field and everyone’s going to be motivated and everyone’s going to play hard. It didn’t work that way. this go round, it feels like a much more experienced, despite Glenn being a first-time head coach and Muji being a first year general manager, it just feels like a more clear-cut, more decisive vision for this Jets team. It’s hard to put it into words, but um yeah, in any case, thanks so much for watching and as always, go Jets. Heat. Heat.
Around 3-4 weeks ago word got out the the Jets were bringing in TJ McCright to the organization but now we know his new role..senior scout! As always..Go Jets!

This front office is starting to shape up like Philly💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Our last three regimes never made smart hires on every level/ position our new regime has common sense to get that kind of culture established smart tough aggressive resilient players we're the 2nd youngest team in the league hopefully our new regime is built to last 💯 GO JETS 💚
This feels like Competency
Feels like Woody is out the way
I'm not holding my breath till I see W's stack
Let’s go
We will have to wait and see how their approach pans out. But, the process they've taken seems thorough and well thought out. The probability of success would seem to be higher this time around. But again, we'll see.
Dude this make me so pumped for this team this year and the future they’re really trying to change things and do it different
Why was Shawn Jefferson retained? I feel like he did not do the best job developing wide receivers… ex. Corley
Sounds good.
Results are all that matters… ho hum until then.
Hopefully this all works out. Lets give them a chance.
One thing has been evident for several seasons. The Jets desperately needed major changes in their scouting department. Glad to see the organization is doing just that.
A lot of important information in this report.
