  1. Borderline pathetic performance. Looked like we were purposely tanking a summer league game there.

Selfish play. Low effort. Putrid rotations. Lose by 20 when you’re expected to win by 20z

    Washington Wizards Basketball Baby😤😤

  2. Bub can pretend to be a leader and be as vocal as he wants to be but if he can’t prove he can run the offense, and hit shots for that matter, then he’s not part of this future.

  3. Tre’s shooting is as good if not better than advertised. I’m giving Bub & Alex till Game 2 before I start freaking out.

  4. Will Riley is somehow more lost than Johnny Davis was. He’s gonna have to have a 70 point game to have me buy any stock into him

  5. Kyshawn looks like the only guy from last year that has worked on his game.

  6. Goddamn that game made me mad. I don’t care if it was a Summer League game. If you’re okay with that performance then you’re too used to losing and need to wake up.

  7. I was expecting they to lose(not by 20). These players are still projects, almost nothing changed, they are still too young. Never bought into the “stacked team”. Most of these players are going to be traded, this rebuild will last for a long time man

  8. Love summer league for the overreactions one way or the other. I was once suckered into believing in Glen Rice Jr once upon a time.

  9. more Turnovers than assists. I heard the head coach played in the NFL so their style of play tonight made sense

  10. Kyshawn and Tre were the bright spots. Everyone else needs to do laps. Also looks like Bub got hurt early which sucks.

  11. Really impressed with Kyshawn all around and Tre shooting and scoring is as advertised.

  12. George looked good, Tre did well as a shooter. Kind of more of the same from the rest of the players.

ngl our players can’t really get good separation which is a bit of a concern. We’re probably going to be worse this year w/o Poole making ridiculous shots.

  13. I know people are going to freak out because we lost by 20 but look on the bright side. Tre Johnson dat boiii

  14. Not putting too much stock into this. But I really enjoyed our first look at Tre and Year Two 🔑

  15. I feel like a lot of this is on the coaching staff. Of course shots were missed and players didn’t play their best but the general lack of organization to make it easier for these guys was eye opening. A lot of shots were rushed, the second unit just seemed like give aj the ball and one screen and he’ll play-make. Disappointing first game with some bright spots.

  16. Good performance from Keyshawn and Tre but hard not to come away pessimistic from this one.

Alex Sarr is lacking the strength and motor of an NBA big and it is infuriating. Cannot have our center getting 4 rebounds in 30+ minutes. (Why is he playing center in the first place?)

I like Bub but the lack of athleticism is apparent. AJ Johnson is good on the break but in halfcourt can barely bring the ball up without being stripped. Will Riley looks like he’s 15.

  17. Said it in the game thread but I really think this was a coaching thing. Demarre Carroll had the suns ready to go full throttle for 48 mins and our guys looked like they were told to go out there and put on a nice exhibition.

Hopefully next game they come out more trying to prove they belong cause outside some garbage time buckets Sarr didn’t play great offensively and really needs to at least put effort into getting boards and holding on to said boards. Tre and Kyshawn played perfect imo def still lots of development coming. Bub had an off night but I think the passing is what opens his game up so hopefully he looks to facilitate more with more chemistry with the guys next game. AJ played solid also. I think biggest issue was them not being too prepared against the full court press against them tho it really got a lot of TO’s and disrupted our flow on offense. Dillon Jones just seems like he’s not even gonna make our roster man. I watched a ton of OKC last year and he doesn’t seem to have improved one bit. Gives me strong Johnny Davis flashbacks unfortunately but hopefully he can turn it around somehow. Overall tho talent was shown tn by the guys but a poor team effort overall that I think is more on coaching than them.

  18. not thrilled with the outcome, we looked like shit. Not too worried because half this team cannot even legally drink alcohol.

Definitely want to see more from the year 2 guys. (Bub, AJ, Sarr) Kyshawn though! This is the ugly part of the rebuild, it sucks until you hit. So we shall see. I’ve been a fan since 03 so I have some patience

  19. Kyshawn was amazing

    Sarr and Tre were fine

    Watkins was solid

    Bub and AJ were meh

    Jones and Riley were horrible

  20. Bringing the ball up the court was an issue…I wonder if they didn’t run a drag screen to see who is the best handler on the team.

  21. Pretty bad performance defense was decent offense was ass felt like everyone was just playing for themselves and there was no direction from the coaching

  22. Not exactly what I expected, but I think overall our key key guys played well.

Tre is as advertised, very polished scorer and I see him having a solid NBA career at the very least. He plays like a 2nd or 3rd year player, it’s genuinely impressive. Some defensive lapses tho.

Ky was great as usual, that real glue guy piece that I think were incredibly lucky to have. Real 2 way player, and if he ever gets better at self shot creation, he’ll be a legit all star as long as the team starts winning.

Bub was solid, was clearly told to work on his pushing of the pace and be aggressive in the half court creating his own shot. But was also looking for other guys, I liked what I saw overall. Just not sold on what his actual ceiling is.

Sarr had a better 2nd half as the Suns D lightened up a bit, but he constantly feels like a guy that’s not fully locked in or all that passionate about the game. Just a bit slow to react at times on D which gets compensated by his length, but it just feels like he’s playing timid which really concerns me

I didn’t know who the Robbins guy is but honestly he looks athletic & like an actual “big” from the few seconds I paid attention to him. Maybe he’s actually got long term potential?

  23. Well that was a bit disappointing. Tre Johnson looked pretty good and showed he could definitely be a number one option for us this season. Kyshawn also looked good with 24, 7, and 3 steals. Sarr didn’t look perfect at all, but 15 points and 3 blocks is pretty good. Bub didn’t shoot well at all, but 5 assists with no turnovers is something. Jamir Watkins looked really good on the defensive side today, and I think he could be a good role player if he can improve his offensive game. A.J. Johnson had 11 but looked really shaky to me. Overall, I was pretty dissatisfied, but it’s the first game of Summer League, so it is what it is.

  24. Kyshawn looked great, Tre flashed his shotmaking chops, AJ did AJ things, Watkins looked solid.

Everyone else was pretty bad. Disappointing to see Sarr continuing to struggle with the same things he did last season. I’m not going to overreact to Bubs bad game given he played well in summer league last year, but he needs to step up.

I don’t really see it with Riley, he looked lost on both ends. Hopefully he can figure it out.

  25. I think the only thing tough to get used to is Sarr has a very long way to go, and that’s just not really want you want to hear with your 2nd overall pick

  26. plz give jamir watkins more minutes than will riley in the future games. I love what I saw from watkins.

  27. This is exactly what we want. Our guys to play and to drop again for a loaded draft next year. Sarr will be fine. Tre looked as promised. Ky taking a good leap. Not giving too much thought for bub. He played well during real games last year. The lowest average age of any team. Let them grow

  28. I’m just happy that Tre looked good shooting the ball and that he was aggressive. I’ll worry about the other dudes on the team (especially you Sarr) later on. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for this day and I’m glad that Tre looks like he belongs. That move he hit on Maluach where he bounced it off his leg was some NBA street volume 2 shit 😂😂😂

  29. Welp. We still suck. But my takeaways:

Kyshawn looked great both running the floor and getting to the rim. I feel confident when the ball’s in his hands he’s going to make good decisions.

Tre is going to be a fun player to watch.

Will Riley seems to have a nice handle and good feel for the game.

Watkins showed flashes of being a top-tier defender.

I hope the AJ-as-primary-handler experiment is done.

Bub and Sarr were meh. I was hoping for more from each of them.

Dillon Jones is a chunky kid who will likely be cut – I don’t really see a place for him on the roster.

Leaky Black is a hero for surviving so long with that name.

  30. We have key rotation guys and starters in a summer league game and still lose by 20. This is why there’s no real concern about falling out of the top eight picks.

  31. Thoughts from the game:

Alex Sarr — still weak, lacks toughness, and shys away from contact. shows on both ends. Has bad rebounding habits, doesn’t get physical and instead just tries to rely on his size.

AJ Johnson — crazy athleticism but just way too weak. Can’t trust him with the ball in his hands in the half court.

Bub — great energy but has a slow first step and struggles to get by defenders in the half court.

Kyshawn — our most promising player from 2024 draft. Amazing defensive instincts, high bball IQ, and can make plays at all 3 levels. Looks the most improved from last year.

Dillon Jones — looked like ass, probably g league all year.

Jamir Watkins — defensive menace, loved what I saw. Interested to see more of his offensive bag.

Tre — great feel, and looks comfortable with the nba pace. Jumper is so pure. Needs help on D, looks a bit lost at times and has a tendency to ball watch.

Will Riley — raw, needs to bulk up but like his dynamic play style. looked super nervous, game looked a little fast for him but first game so I’ll chalk that to nerves.
