Miami Heat UPDATED NBA Free Agent Targets Ft. Damian Lillard & Precious Achiuwa
The Miami Heat still have one open roster spot. And on today’s edition of the Heat Report by Chat Sports, I am going to look at some Miami Heat for agent targets. I am your host Nick Rolloloff. And when you think of what the Miami Heat have on their roster currently following the Norman Powell trade, there is a glaring hole. But where things stand, like yeah, we’re going to talk about Wiggins and Rosier potentially being traded, but this is a really solid roster that can compete in a weak Eastern Conference, but there is also a glaring hole on this 14-man crew already, and it is that we need a center pretty desperately. Like, we have no front court depth. Khal Wear and Bam Adabio, those are your only two big men. And we all want Bam to play more of the four than the five. So when you only have Bamwear and Yoic, that means you’re going to play a lot of small ball when wear isn’t on the floor. And I don’t really think that is the best thing for this Heat team as we continue to move forward in the NBA. And we saw in the playoffs this past year that a lot of teams ran a double big lineup. So getting another big man in this roster and in this organization would probably benefit Miami in a major way. And if the Heat make a move, we will have you covered on Twitter first. We also have the latest news and rumors over there. I’m continuing to put out my thoughts and other Heat content on X. So, go give me a follow. Nick_off is my handle. Appreciate all the people that have followed me recently. We just crossed 2,000 followers, but let’s get to 2100 or 48 away. All right. When you think of this Heat roster, obviously they’re going to probably keep a roster spot open for as long as they can to try to help facilitate a trade because Andrew Wiggins at 28 million, Terara Rosier at 26 million, it’s very likely that in a deal with those two players, if you end up trading any of them, that you will have to take back more players just because of how big their contracts are. are. So, if a trade comes to fruition with any of those two, you’re probably going to take back at least two guys, which is why you need a roster spot open. But, let’s say a month from now, the Heat don’t make a trade. Well, then the Heat should probably look to sign someone using that 15th roster spot that they have open, preferably a big man. But my number one free agent for the Heat still has to be Damen Lillard. Although he would not contribute this season and would be rehabbing from the torn Achilles and then coming back and playing in 2026, he’s the best free agent available. And it gives you so much flexibility. You can continue to let the young guys play this year and then let Dame rehab and then ultimately let him return in 2026 and maybe be your starting point guard alongside Tyler Hero or who knows what happens with Hero’s future. Maybe he’s not even on the roster. It just is too good of an opportunity to pass up for Miami if you’re asking me. Plus, with the Boston Celtics being a team that is so heavily interested in Dame, it would be an absolute disaster if the Celtics got him. let him rehab with Tatum and then both of them return the Jaylen Brown and Derek White in 2026 like they would win the title in my opinion. So Damen Lillard even though the Heat desperately need a big man is my first and number one Heat free agent target. Another interesting name is actually Precious Aua. Yeah, I’m going Achua. Fulfill the prophecy maybe. 20th overall pick in 2020 draft, one spot ahead of Tyrese Maxi, the infamous pick. Also a couple picks ahead of Desmond Bane if we really want to make it sting even more. Aua has not found a home. He played his rookie season in Miami. Obviously, he was part of the Kyle Lowry signing trade and then he’s bounced between Toronto and the New York Knicks being in New York the past year and a half. He was part of that OG Anobi trade as well. And he kind of got relegated out of the Knicks lineup this season when the season just progressed and they got to the playoffs due to them really just running um Carl Towns and Mitchell Robinson and then like Josh Hart, Muel Bridges OG is like a small ball four, but he got a lot of run in the regular season over the past couple of years. And I’ll be honest, like I think he’s like a fine rotational big man. Very similar to Baggley. You’re not going to count on many playoff minutes from him, but he’s got an interesting offensive game. He’s athletic. Even though he’s not a good free throw shooter, he has shown the ability to occasionally step out and knock down a three-point shot. And we know this from watching him as a rookie. And over the past four seasons since he’s been in the NBA, he plays hard every night when he’s on the floor. Some of the discrepancies people have with Achua is that he’s a little bit undized. He’s a little bit uncoordinated. If you remember his rookie season, he couldn’t catch a cold in Miami, aka he dropped a lot of balls when he was thrown his way. Um, but he plays very hard. We know the Heat liked him coming out of college. It’s why they took him. So, I could see them revisiting Aua if they ultimately want to use that open roster spot they currently have to sign a big man. I would also just think it would be fun to bring him back. We did it with Josh Richardson after trading him in a signin trade for Jimmy Butler. They resigned him in for ANC. Could they do the same thing with a Chua? wouldn’t put it past Miami. Also don’t think he’s that bad of a third big at this point in the free agency period. You make the call for me. Would you resign Precious Lua? Would you bring him back? Pin comment on today’s show. Get hit with a YouTube ad break. Let it play. Scroll down and answer the question. Type Y for yes or type N for no. Moving on to number three. I’m gonna go Chris Boucher. Another big man that has ties to the Toronto Raptors. This is a very fascinating player. He’s more of a four, but he is big enough to play the five. Like I could imagine Eric Spolstra really leaning into like a small ball five with him and Bam potentially. Or if you just had Bam play the five, Buché at the four, like you can do it vice versa. But he’s 69, 610, lengthy wingspan about 73. But he just doesn’t play like a big man. Like he wants to be on the perimeter. He shoots a ton of threes. He’s not the best in terms of just gobbling up boards coming off the bench. And that’s my biggest issue with Buché. Like, he has size. He has fun offensive game due to his ability to step out and shoot the three, but I don’t think he can play the five. He’s just got such a thin frame to where if he had to go up against like physical big men that play in the low post consistently, I think he would really struggle. So, for that point, I think once again, you would have to move Bam to the five and then Buché at the four. But even at that point, is it worth it? I’m not sure. He’s not the tallest, but he is lengthy. He needs to add weight to his frame. But listen, he’s 32 years old, so I don’t really think that’s going to come anytime soon. But I do think he’s better than the other two guys that we’re going to mention here just in a second. But make sure you are subscribed to the channel because if the Heat make another move, which I do anticipate them making another signing because they or not, let’s just say not a signing, but a move. They are $1.4 $4 million of the luxury tax. They have an open roster spot. They’re either going to try to add to this roster or try to shed some salary to get underneath the luxury tax to avoid the repeaters tax. So, when a move happens, we’ll have you cover the video. Hit that sub button. Number four, Heat legend Bull. Why not bring him to the 305? It was meant to be. If you go back to the 2019 NBA draft, the Heat took Tyler Herro at the 13th pick. Well, in the second round they took Bowl. You see there the Heat in the background. You see Bow walking the stage with a Heat hat, but they obviously traded him on draft night to the Denver Nuggets. And he has really not found his stride in the association to this point. A very intriguing prospect at the time. He’s 73 lengthy. He can put the ball in the deck at times. He can shoot the three ball. And he’s just been getting inconsistent run in his NBA career. He spent the last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns where he hasn’t got a ton of minutes. You see it very limited amount, only about 11 and 12 minutes a night. He doesn’t rebound the ball that well, but he does have a very fun offensive game. He did shoot 42% from three this season in a limited opportunity. Not a ton of attempts, but he did shoot a really good amount. And I’ll say this, when you think about BBO, he has such a long body and high release point. any shot he takes isn’t even contested. But the problem with signing BBO potentially is that we’re looking at big men to add to this front court. He doesn’t play like a big. He isn’t physical enough to go out and dominate the boards or help wear or bam grab rebounds offensively or defensively. He wants to play on the perimeter. And similar to Boucher, he’s very thin, very frail to where when he gets bumped by stronger players, he comes off of his like stride, if you will, not very well balanced, and struggles. Not the best player boxing out either. Like he’s got the length to grab rebounds, but he just doesn’t utilize it that often. So, if you’re thinking about adding Bull Bull, you are going to have a lot of days and games where you’re frustrated by his inability to just get rebounds defensively during the regular season if he is playing the five. We’re going to get to my last free agent target here in a second, but I could not make a video without letting you know about this deal. This Heat Quarter Zip that I own, by the way, is on sale from 85 to 40. That’s more than 50%. I bought it during the regular season when it was full price. Dummy me should have waited to the off season. chatsports.com/hezzip sale. They have every size available besides extra small. So that’s good news for everybody. I don’t know how long this deal is going to last. That is not a typo. $45 off when you go to chatports.com/eqzipale. Links in the description and comments of today’s video. The final free agent target we’re going to talk about here, another big man slashforward. We’re going to go to the veteran Trey Lyles who has been with the Sacramento Kings for the large part of his career over the past two seasons. And he’s a player that like, you know, I don’t hate. Now, when it comes to Trey Lyles, I would not expect him to play the five. He is certainly more of a four, but you see his numbers like he can facilitate a little bit in the half court. He can make some reads. He can step out and knock down a catch and shoot three. But as I mentioned off the top of the video when I was making this episode of looking at free agent targets, I’m thinking of big men that can help the Heat’s front court depth because after trading Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson, despite those two not getting a lot of playing time, at least projected this season, the depth in this four five is just so bad. And I don’t really want to play small ball for most of the season. Like we tried to go a little bit bigger last year. I like that, but I don’t want to go backwards to small ball. So you get Trey Lyles as your major backup big like that’s a small ball man. I guess a couple of these guys that we mentioned are but when you look at the true 611 7footers out there unless you want to bring back Thomas Bryant or go after Bismach Biombo that is not something that I’m in on. So I’m looking at these kind of larger four spacing fours that maybe can play a little bit of the center spot but that is a concern of mine when it comes to Trey Lyles. We’re going to round out the video here in a second, but I want you to name the person the Heat should target in NBA free agency the most. Is it any of the five big men that I talked about on today’s show? Is it a different big man? Is it someone like Damen Lillard that you want the Heat to go outside? Go out and let me know. I don’t want to be the negative Nick that I can be sometimes on this show, but if we’re going to be honest, it’s probably nobody. Like I’ll talk about this in terms of the flexibility and I briefly mentioned it earlier, but the Heat are going to keep an open roster spot in case they make a trade and they’ll keep that open roster spot probably in the season as well to the trade deadline. So even though I was talking about potential people they could target for ANC to help shure up this front court, they’re going to keep that roster spot open for a potential trade. And with them wanting to get underneath the luxury tax, I don’t know if it would be the smartest idea to go out and sign a veteran, pushing you even farther away from the luxury tax threshold and even closer to the first apron. Now, a vetman signing wouldn’t put you over. You would still say underneath the first apron, but it would push you a little bit farther away from the luxury tax threshold you’re trying to get under. So, that’s why if you’re probably putting money on it, the Heat probably don’t sign anyone in free agency and just will keep it open for a potential trade in the future. And if a trade does happen, as I mentioned, I’ll let you know about it first over on Twitter. I got content going out in between our videos here over on my social media. So follow me today at nick_rolloff. And if you’re still watching, DM me, call say you’re a real one. I’ll follow you back. How about that, Heat fans?

Heat should go after Damian and take out of Summer league Ware and give time to proven themself to Vlad and Oumer, and give them the opportunity to came like back up center alternate each other.
The Heat can do whatever they want, as long as they have an extra roster spot for Dame and no financial problems. Let’s go #HeatNation!
Maybe Precious can come back and atone for us drafting him ahead of Tyrese Maxi
Isn't achiuwa very vocal he hates miami ?🤔
Precious makes the most sense!
Y if you get him for pennies. So what do you say is more important shooting 3's or actually being a big man inside???? LOL
Bol Bol following his father's rout and coming to the 305? I like Precious because he can rough it out. Dame Dollar would be the obvious.
Bol, Bol is not a power forward or center…he is a shooting guard! Play him as SG. or SF. that's he's real position!
Day 33 of asking to get bol bol for the minimum
We would've won last night if we didn't have to get the new KJ going
Sign Dame, develop our UDFA Vlad Goldin and Oballo, trade Rozier for a Center, have a heart to heart with Wiggins and only trade him if a great deal comes up.
Big fan of Trey Lyles
Id take Vlad over any of these big men
no
You could do a lot worse than Achiuwa for a back up big.
I still want the team to get the repeater tax sorted out this year though, so signing anyone makes that more difficult.
Man we don’t want no Achiuwa, he suck
Trade Bam for Okongwu and Jalen Johnson.
Ya no many if us won't touch X nor Tesla, nor Starlink.
Bring back whiteside lol 😆
I would say let one of the Summer League bigs play it out for the last roster spot in the frontcourt.
No one wants to see their team be bad but if they are gonna have an uphill season; man I'm hoping that they don't blow their lottery odds for next season.
No thanks to Precious…he cannot finish at the rim, his basketball IQ is trash and he has no left hand skill at all…AND, he cannot shoot. Respectfully 😅
Chris boucher would be greag…..
Trade Wiggins
We dont need a big man we git ware
If Miami doesn’t pick up either precious or dame. This guy has to step down bc he’s been wrong all offseason.
1) Lebron
Opts in
2) send Wiggens / Rozier / Jacquez to
Lakers for LEBRON
Lillard IR
Robinson took his spot when he came back from injury
he is solid
