Maybe it’s the ‘stache that is causing Helsley’s problems.
We just ain’t got it. Helsley had been playing with fire way too much lately for it not to burn eventually anyway
Ugh. Fuck
We better be selling everyone at the deadline
Not trading Helsley last offseason for a boat load of prospects when we knew we’d be mediocre at best this season is quickly becoming one of the dumbest decisions in the history of this franchise.
Can’t even get a fucking win at this point. DFA fedde, trade Arenado, just burn it to the ground
Lame.
Hey another series loss, don’t let this team get hot though
Disappointing outcome today.
**The Good**
Pozo and Gorman hit homers. We had some good hitting, and scored 6 runs – normally a good enough effort. We had a couple at-bats where the batter would get behind, but was able to battle back and get a walk (Saggese had one where he did a pretty good job of working a walk despite getting behind in the count early). Graceffo looked terrific from the bullpen, and Romero was his usual solid self.
**The Meh**
Fedde wasn’t an abject failure today, although 4.2 with 3 ER is not a good line. We also had quite a few hard-hit outs in the first few innings – normally a good sign that the hitters are doing well and just getting unlucky.
**The Bad**
Maton, who has been probably our best reliever so far this season, just didn’t have his stuff today. The curve looked good, but his other pitches didn’t seem to be doing what he wanted. Helsley continues to struggle – we need him to be able to come into situations like that and shut things down, but he just doesn’t seem to be able to blow the fastball by guys this year. Our hitters swung at way too many breaking balls down and out of the zone – this works for Pozo, but doesn’t work for just about anyone else on our team.
**Tomorrow**
I think the announcers said that Atlanta was doing two bullpen games this series? If so, hopefully their guys are tired enough that we’re able to get to them. We need Sonny to have his A game – hopefully we can get at least six strong innings from him, hopefully more.
STL Shill Central already spinning
Even Helsley thought he was gonna be dealt in the offseason so why is it so hard for our FO to make sane decisions
maybe it’s just the sting of the Rams still there, but what’s stopping the DeWitts from moving the team to Nashville or selling to someone that wants to move the team? I’m all for the boycott, but I fear those possibilities.
Helsley rant:
He has a 3.38 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP. Coming into this game he had 5 blown saves in 18 appearances, 3rd worst in MLB. With his loss today, he has 6 blown saves and losses in 19 games. 31.5% of his appearances he has failed! You can’t use him as a closer anymore, no matter if he’s on the roster the full year or not. Certainly no contender will want anything to do with him as a closer or even a reliable reliever to give up anything for him.
I’m gonna ask a question, what did y’all that are like commenting with pathetic or similar expect this season? Were you expecting them to be competitive and win the division or make the playoffs?
Yes, I’d like them to win too but this is what I expected. I came in with low expectations and I felt like they’d be inconsistent and streaky. I didn’t expect them to be exciting or even score a lot of runs, so that’s been a pleasant surprise. I also don’t mind watching this team because I feel they’re exciting.
I feel the FO has been pretty clear about what this season is supposed to be. Now, I can understand being frustrated about what that means in terms of some of the players being used.I just don’t know what some of you have been expecting.
Hindsight is 20/20 but something tells me if our SP doesn’t immediately give up three runs this game has a different outcome.
Sell sell sell (the players and the team)
Just get swept tomorrow, Cardinals. Time to crash & burn. No need in letting the Front Office delusionally think that this team has any shot this year.
Oof. Glad I opted to see Superman instead. James Gunn is one St. Louisan who will never disappoint me
I knew we were gonna lose the Fedde game, I just didn’t think it would be like this.
This sub is a joke, everyone doomering right now after one bad series as we are 50-46 on a rebuild year
Massive spin by stl sports hub. They said this was a decent start by fedde and he gave them a really good chance to win. Also said some goofy things like Pages should stay as catcher and Pozo should stay on the bench
45 win percentage since may 30th 30 win percentage in july
Team is a fucking embarrassment
I have confidence the other teams competing for a wild card spot will be making improvements before the deadline. I have 0 confidence Mo will be doing anything at all to further compete. I don’t expect any honesty about this because they’re afraid people will check out. Which I will.
The most depressing thing is that Helsley has been mostly destroyed as a trade asset.
Brady House has hit his first two home runs for the Nationals against the Brewers today. He reminds me of a young Arenado.
Sell the team, goblin bill
