MLB LIVE🔴 Toronto Blue Jays vs Oakland Athletics – Jul 13, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

So, almost ready to get underway. And today’s starting pitcher, Jacob Lopez. And Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, it hasn’t been a great year so far in terms of erra, but he’s had some decent games and there have been some flashes of greatness, if you will. We’ll see today if he’s able to get ahead of hitters and perhaps get some swings and misses, put himself in a position to bring that erra down because, you know, in the back of his mind beyond the W, he wants to have a better earn run average. Next offering is in for a strike and today is draft day. singing an exciting day in terms of the future of the sport and the future of these teams. It’s also changed a lot in terms of the immediiacy of finding out. I mean, what was it? Carrier pigeon was how you found out about being drafted back when you were selected, right? Well, fans today may not realize because we have, you know, such exposure on the internet and and network sports and everything else. you find out right away. But when I was drafted back in 1993, I maybe found out, you know, later in the day, was drafted in the morning that I was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. So regardless, I think the feeling is the same. No matter whether you find out right away or you find out a day later, you’re just so excited to have been drafted by a professional baseball team and have the opportunity to pursue your dream. Here’s George Springer. Another solid power season. [Applause] And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. That one’s in there. No balls, two strikes. Next offering misses down and away. Recognize that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. Battling here as he fouls it away. One out. Base is empty. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Well, that’s always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count. And as a pitcher, it really allows you to start expanding the zone. Hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide. And what happens is because of the pressure, you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is. And that’s what leads to the strikeout. Let’s go. Outside low. One and one. Your worst nightmare. Fast for a strike. One ball, two strikes. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Sodestrom, he’s got it. And that is out number three. Onto the bottom of the first. No score. Back here with my pal Singi, our starting pitcher in this one, Kevin Gosman. Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Now, the A’s designated hitter, Lawrence Butler. [Applause] And that one upstairs, ball one. the one-1 in the air out towards left center. Bette makes the catch and there’s one gone. Batting second time now to check out the A’s lineup. Batting second, a really important guy for them. Jacob Wilson. And Boo, he’s a fun at bat to watch. I mean, definitely a threat whenever he’s got that bat in his hands. But for me, it’s it’s all about the mechanics. They’re so sound when he gets his foot down on time and starts his swing. So much consistency. That bat stays in the zone for a long time and he squares up the baseball a lot. Jacob Wilson in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. Back up the middle and a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Everything came together for him. I could watch base hits like that one all day long and so could every hitting coach in the league. Just a nice line drive into center field. Nick Curts up next for the A’s. That one ripped and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases coming home. He’ll score. Oh, no waiting around right there. He was ready to swing it on the first pitch. That’s a good sound coming off the bat, man. And as he connected out front and lifted into the outfield, that’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel. That’s a pure stroke. One out, runner at second. Next up for the A’s, Brent Rooker. Possibly thinking about home run number 100 here. He’s just one shy of that milestone. Rooker needs just one more homer to reach 100 in the big leagues. and a pitch. Swinging a foul straight back. Yeah, and making it to a 100 homers would be quite the career accomplishment for him. Out of the more than 20,000 players to take an at bat in the majors, less than 5% have ever hit 100 dingers. [Applause] That one’s upstairs. Ball one. [Music] [Applause] That one missed. [Applause] Next pitch is outside. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Got him swinging. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him. Tyler Sodstrom up next for the A’s. That’s in for a strike. [Applause] [Applause] Ah, ground ball and that’s through the infield. Brown’s third headed for the plate. The throw is Oline and he’s in to score and they lead by two. Well done. Drives in the run. Smash that one through the infield for the knock. When it’s hit that hard, it makes it very tough on the infielders to make any sort of play. So, two down. Shay Langalers up next for the A’s. Fast for a strike. Sodrom leads off first with two down to the inning. [Applause] And a foul ball. misses and that’s ball one. Really close pitch down around the knees there and you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. Swing and a miss. Splitter in the dirt. Catcher has it. fires the first in time. The two-3 strikeout ends the inning. Two runs, three hits, no errors, and one left. We go on to inning number two. It’s the A’s two and the Jays nothing. And we’re back. Top of the second. Bette up to the dish. Bette. Well, after scoring runs, this is where you’re looking for that shutdown inning. Get that hot team back in there to swing the bats. And first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. No ball, one strike. The shorts stop takes a ball. Time to look at our umpiring crew in this one. Kenny Jansen behind the plate. Yeah, and expect a little inconsistency on the corners. He doesn’t make any wild calls, but he does give and take there a little bit. So, he doesn’t have the easiest strike zone to figure out, especially as the game goes on when you’re expecting it to become more. And that’s their first base runner of the game. Alejandro Kirk next up for the Blue Jays. Right through there for a strike. [Applause] Now one and one. The one-1 is fouled off. Runner at first with no outs here. Next pitch is outside. And there’s the ball. Out to center. Clark on the move. Drops into the glove and there’s one away. Batting six, left fielder Davis Schneider. Davis Schneider will hit next. That one finds the zone. Strike one. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch he’ll see in this at bat to hit man at first one away. Looked like he got a little excited on that fast ball. Got to think to yourself, want to stay up the middle that way if you’re a little bit early, you hit it out of the ballpark really late. Swings through that and it’s a strike out and he’s registered three in this one. Stood absolutely no chance on that slider right there. And I don’t mean to laugh, but that’s a tough one. I mean, pretty much a perfect strikeout pitch. I mean, it looks like a fast ball middle end. Kind of has cutter action and it just bunches you up to where you can’t get your hands through and the barrel to it. And not much you can do unless you recognize the spin early and you spit on it. And another ball. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. Throw in holds the lead runner at second. Two on now with two away. Tyler Heinman next up for the Blue Jays. [Music] Fast ball in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Just missed. [Music] That’s down and in. And that’s down and away. He’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here. I love it. Miles Straw in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. And that’ll load the bases. Well, the stage has been set for this offense, boo. It’s all about creating opportunities, and this is one of them right here. Miles Straw next up for the Blue Jays. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Applause] A little out front there as he swings through it. One ball. Bashette the runner at third. Jimenez at second. Hinaman on first with two down. That misses the zone. Now two balls in a strike. Boo. In situations like these, the air can get really thin up there at the plate. Got to find a way to breathe and slow everything down. Two outs. That crosses the plate and now they’re just one strike away from getting out of this mess out in the dirt. Blocked. Nice job behind the plate there. All loaded up here in the top of the second. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. [Applause] This one in the air right field brings it in and that’s the third out. So they load the bases but leave them stranded. We go to the bottom of inning number two. It’s the A’s two and the Jay’s nothing. [Applause] Bottom half of inning number two. Here’s Miguel and Duhar. Third baseman, Miguel Anduhar. Gosman back to work on the ground to third. Slings to first. Leadoff man retired here in the second. Batting eight second baseman Maxy. Now it’s the second baseman, Maxy. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. One strike. Fast ball in the inside corner for a strike. He doesn’t seem to like to pitch up. hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches. 02 count now. I think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there. One down, base is empty and down on strikes he goes. That K is his third of the game. Well, that at bat seemed to be over as soon as it started. Three pitch strike out. You got to be better at the plate right there at least to foul something off. Extend that at bat. Stepping in Denzel Clark. First pitch just misses. [Music] to go, baby. Let’s go. This one popped up. Bette pulls it down and he makes the catch. And that is that. And one, two, three go the A’s. But they’re on top two nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Top half of the third inning. Now the third baseman Ernie Clement. Ball one there. Clement 28 years old and he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2017. And that’s in the dirt. Next offering upstairs and that’s a strike. And there’s a foul ball. [Applause] That one misses. So a lead off walk. A great back and forth in that at bat. He had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow he found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there. I’ll tell you right now, I couldn’t have done it. Springer in the box now. No balls in a strike. Nobody out. Runner at first. [Applause] And that misses. And now it’s even one and one. right side. Rooker makes the grab and there’s one down. Though Chris, through the early stages, he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. Here’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Chris, baseball today, so many strikeouts and they are available to pitchers, but this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball and is kind of different from the players that we see day in day out. [Applause] Yeah, his swing is so good. It’s in the zone a long time. He gets the barrel to it a lot and that produces more base hits. Snap throw to first. Clement dives back in safely. When you look at the elite teams in the game right now, there is going to be the slug. No question about it. But the really good offensive teams combined slug with more contact with less swing and miss. Quick throw back in. Lead runner holds it second with one gone. Bobette gets a chance to hit. [Applause] And that one fouled off. Just about gives his skipper a heart attack, but that’s where he functions best. Started to swing. Held up [Applause] on the ground right side. Kurts to second back to first. Double play. Nice job getting over and that ends the inning. So, no runs here in a base hit, no errors and one left. We move on to the bottom of inning number three. It’s the A’s two and the Jay’s nothing. Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Now, here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Lawrence Butler. Lawrence Butler. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. No balls. One strike out to short. Bette sends it across to first. One up, one down. Now batting shortstop Jacob Wilson. Next up for the A’s, Jacob Wilson. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. [Applause] Now one out to right and George makes the grab. Two down. Now batting the first baseman Nick Curts at the plate. Nick Curts one for one with a double and a run scored. That one’s in there. That’s strike one. Two outs. Base is empty. And it’s even up. One ball, one strike. line drive and puts the squeeze on that one and that’ll do it. And the A’s are gone in order, but they hold the two nothing lead. And we’re back now. It’s the DH Alejandro Kirk. Alejandro Kirk. And here it comes right through there for a strike. He’s been very consistent with his command out there on the mound. Consistently throwing at the knees. Pretty impressive when a guy can repeat his delivery like this. Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Applause] Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Man, he’d like to have that pitch back. [Applause] Swinging a ground ball. Wilson in plenty of time to first. One up, one down. Oh, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Now, here is Davis Schneider. Struck out swinging his first time. And the slider just misses. Oh, I think the key I mean, if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Next offering upstairs. Two balls, one strike. [Music] Outside with a breaking ball. He had a foul ball. Baby, let’s go. Got him. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it, thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. Cut on and lifted in the air. Rooker snags it. And that is that [Applause] bottom of the inning. And now the right fielder Rooker. He’s sitting on 99 career homers. We’ll see if this is the moment to notch number 100. And that’s through there for a strike. No ball, one strike. Swanging a highf fly ball hit the air left center field. This one’s got a chance. reaching for it and brings it in. Oh, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Next up for the A’s, Tyler Soderstrom singled and drove in a run his first time through. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. That’s a little bit low. Next offering is fouled back. ripped on the ground to second throw off line. He’s safe and a nice job there to keep it from getting away. Looked to me like he got on the side of the ball a little too much right there. Maybe a little too casual as well with the throwing motion. And when you don’t stay on top of the ball and really get out front and finish with a good release point, it’s very easy to lose control of it to either side. Here’s the catcher, Shay Langalers. He’s 0 for one first off and it just misses. Sodrom leads off first with one away. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. One ball, one strike. [Music] Inside two and one. Next offering is fouled back. Not close with that one. And now it’s three and two. [Applause] hacks and misses. It’s a strike out. Well, that split caught a lot of the zone. Definitely a hitable pitch, but coming off the fast ball, the pitch before, it’s kind of tough to recognize. You notice there’s something different about it. He threw it with the same arm action, same release point, and he left it up. But the movement and the change of speeds, that was enough to do the job. Here’s the third baseman, Miguel Anduhar. 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. Check swing didn’t go. One and0. And that one is in for a strike. Good pitch. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, hit a broken back as you jog back to the dugout. On the ground right side, he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. The A’s strand one. They’re up two nothing. ready now for the fifth inning. The batter now Tyler Tyler Heinman [Applause] Lopez back to work and that one is downstairs and it’s one and0 doublebarreled action in the bullpen. JP Sears appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Nukem warming up as well. Pitch misses there and it’s two and 0. And he takes a strike. on the ground. Wilson tosses to first and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth. Now batting the center fielder Miles Straw and next for Toronto, Miles Straw fly to right his first time. And that one is inside. One ball. No strike. Fought off. Foul. And that’s off the inside edge. Two and one. Base is empty. One away. And we’re in the top of the fifth. Fouled off left side. [Applause] Sit him down. [Applause] Still two and two after the foul ball. Spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another. back to the mound. He’s got it. Tosses to first. That was a strong at bat even though he couldn’t find a way on base. Off speed pitch and it looked like he just continued his momentum towards home plate after releasing that perfect position to make a play and help himself out. Clemens in the box again. Takes the strike and that one moves his feet. Right side. Curts. Come on. Come on. Throws to first in time and it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing do it for the Blue Jays. They trail it here. Two nothing. Maxy getting ready to hit. Went down looking on three pitches last time. Let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here. And the slider just misses. [Applause] Swaging a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. Outside low and a count. Two on one. And that’s in there at the knees. gets a piece and stays alive. Pitch misses inside and the count’s full. goes down looking. I guarantee he’s going to check the tape on that last pitch when he gets a chance because he thought it was ball four and he wasn’t wrong. I mean, it was a close pitch. Definitely not an easy call, but especially after a long at bat. That’ll drive you crazy getting rung up like that. Denzel Clark the next to hit. First time up was a pop out. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball one. [Music] And another ball. [Applause] And that one fouled off. Ground ball right side and foul ball. swings through it and that’s a strike out. That’s about as nasty of a splitter as you’ll come across, especially in terms of movement. I mean, that thing tumbles out of his hand and just drops off the table at the last moment. He keeps it down. It’s just so tough to put wood on. Butler in the box for the third time today as he takes that one off the plate. He was late there. Strike one. Just threw that fast by him. Elevated. And if you’re not looking up in that location, very difficult to catch up to, especially with that velocity. And that is out of play. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five. Next pitch is outside. Two balls, two strikes. Keeps the attack going with a foul ball. Fans another. And that’s three straight strikeouts. Impeccable command in that one. Three batters, three strikeouts. That’s electric stuff out there on the mound. So, a new pitcher on the mound for the A’s, JP Sears. Still a lot of game left, Dan. This game could go either way. So this is a big opportunity for him to get some important outs and try to help carry this lead into the later innings. And the batter is George in this one. Right through there for a strike. Well, in this one, the offense has sputtered. Somebody’s got to find a way to get on, keep the line moving, and manufacture at least one run. Then maybe you get two or three. Come on. Next offering is in for a strike. Quickly down 02 in the count. I think you got to choke up a little bit. Spread out the feet. You don’t know what the velocity or the location of this next pitch is going to be. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Swing and a miss. Stuck him out. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Now Vladimir Guerrero Vlatty measures 6’2 in 25 years old and he was born in Canada. missed with a change up and that is ball one and a swing and a miss. Well, there’s a certain point where you have to commit to what you think you see and he guessed wrong right there. Nasty slider with just terrific bite at the end. Bows it off. Still one and two. The A’s holding on to a two-run lead. And we’re in the top half of the sixth. Chopped to third on Duhar. Whips it across. He’s out and that quickly two away. Now batting shortstop Bo Bett. Bo Bashette next up for the Blue Jays. Let’s go. Headed towards the corner. Fair ball. Makes the turn and heads for second. And he’ll pull into second with two gone. Oh, that started and ended pretty quickly. No messing around right there. I don’t know how he’s able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it. That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep. So, pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it. Next is the designated hitter, Alejandro Kirk. That misses the zone. Ball one. And that’s in for a strike. Ruther at second. Two down. Swing and a highf fly ball. Well struck left field. That’s bat. And that one is going to go. A two-run shot and we’re level. It’s 2-2. A breaking ball on the inside part of the plate requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics. If you fly open with the front shoulder, there’s no way you keep that ball fair. An outstanding job mechanically. He deserves that home run. So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Here’s the left fielder, Davis Schneider, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. And a first pitch fastball is in for a strike. And that’s downstairs and outside. [Applause] in the air center field. Clark should have this one. He’s there. He’s got it. And that is that. But two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two-run homer. And we’re deadlocked now at two a piece. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Jacob Wilson. digs in now. The emmo for him is contact. A guy who’s going to deliver average. Not a ton of power. He’s looking to hit a line drive somewhere. Well, that’s why it’s a team. And when you look at a lineup, he’s a great two-hole hitter or a guy that you could put at the bottom to help turn that lineup over to have some momentum for your top hitters coming up to the plate. Comes up empty. Well, you got to give him credit out there on the mound. This outing started off a little shaky, but he’s found a way to settle in and turned this into a pretty good start. kind of shows you a lot about his mental makeup as a pitcher. Fires over to Guerrero. One away. Bottom of the six. Up next for the A’s, first baseman Nick. Nick Curts up next for the A’s. [Music] That’s off the inside corner. Ball one. All tied up here in the bottom of the sixth. They had a swing and a miss there. One ball, one strike. Tap foul at the plate. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Strikeout number eight, Chris. Third time through the order and a couple of quick outs for the starter. Yeah, he’s been very frugal today. Economical with the pitch count. So now it’s the fourhole hitter Brent Rooker in there at the knees. Go and one. Two down. Dolman on swing and a highf fly ball to left. Schneider in position and that ends the inning. Six innings behind us. All square at two and two. Now, so a new pitcher on the mound for the A’s, JT Gin. And he’s been really shutting down hitters from the right side of the plate this year. Not a lot of hard contact, not a lot of hits, period. So, digging in, Leo Jimenez, one for two. Leo Jimenez. And there’s the strike. That’s to third and that chance handled to first and the lead off hitter set down to open the seventh. Now batting catcher Tyler Heinaman. Tyler Heinman next up for the Blue Jays. Well, both sides equally as strong, so not a good time to try to turn him around with a belief pitcher and put him on the other side of the plate. In there at the knees, the A’s bullpen has some movement. Number 49 getting loose out there. Beo also getting ready. That one missing inside. One swaying and a miss and a count. One and two. Now a fly ball to right center. Clark has this one sized up and he makes the catch. Two away. Now batting center fielder Miles Straw. Miles Straw next up for the Blue Jays. [Music] off the mark there. One and one and that one popped in the air left field. Sodstrom makes the catch and that is that. So they make short work of him there midway in inning number seven and it’s time to stretch. We are tied 2-2 now. The left fielder Tyler Soderstrom taken high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. Ripped to third. Clement over to first and one away in the bottom of the seventh. Now batting the catcher, Shay Langalers. Shay Langalers up next for the A’s. This is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively. Fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate. Good game caller, good at framing, but it’s that big arm that really stands out. Gets under it and pops it up. Jimenez, he makes the catch and there’s two down. This pitcher has done a good job of disrupting the hitter’s timing with a mix of pitches and changing speeds. You want to keep that front foot inconsistent for the batter. Their swings are hesitant and that’s exactly what you want on the mount. And Duhar up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. Movement in the Blue Jays bullpen. Tommy Nance appears to be getting loose. Green getting loose as well. A’s looking to put the go ahead run on base. Hitting is all about anticipation and right now this lineup is struggling with it. Their swings are mistimed and it’s produced a few ugly cuts here and there. Next offering is in for a strike. That front door slider is such a devastating pitch. You don’t want to get beat by the inside fast ball. So you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there it’s out of the swing play. Two outs. Fights that one away. Still one and two. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. [Music] One and two now. Got him. And good work there as he gets a one, two, three. A’s go quickly and quietly there. Score remains deadlocked to 2-2. So, back to the top of the order. Ernie Clement now at the plate. [Applause] again back to work. That’s in there. One. The Athletics have some bullpen action. William Faulner, the closer is getting loose. Right through there for a strike. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike. So, what does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit [Applause] that one. A 95 missed up top. Now one and two. Now a screamer into the outfield and it’s caught for the eye. Good piece of hitting right there. Nice hard line drive to the outfield. You’re trying to get on base, represent that go ahead run. Can’t hang your head on that at all. And it’ll be George Springer to step to the plate. 0 for three in this one. And the first pitch misses for ball one. You can expect this hitter to be looking for something on a T. He can get up in the air and untie this ball game. [Applause] And another ball. Two ball, no strike. That misses the zone and now 3 and 0. I almost feel like he’s frustrated a little bit. He wants to be challenged. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Yeah, the pitch is in for a strike and it’s three and one. Base is empty, one away, and we’re in the top of the eighth. Grounds one to short. Wilson tosses across to first. That takes care of Springer. Good armside run to that same side hitter right there. Very difficult to put that ball in the air or get through it. Just pours in on the hands. And now for the Jays. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. one for three. Swaying and a miss. And that’s strike one. [Music] Just missed. Out to short. fires over to first and the Blue Jays go down one, two, three. Nothing do for the Blue Jays. Score remains 2-2. [Applause] Now pitching four, a new arm into the game, the right Tommy Nance. He’s making his second appearance of the season. Max my getting ready to hit the A’s. Second baseman Maxy. Swing and a high-fly ball right field. Makes the catch for the out. Now batting center fielder Denzel Clark up next for the A’s. [Applause] And that’s in there for strike one. No need to offer that pitch until you get to two strikes. It’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch. [Applause] Nance sets, fires in there for a strike at the top of the zone. Activity in the bullpen. Justin Brew getting ready to go. [Applause] Yeah, that’s outside now. One and two. Trying to keep good speed off the bases. [Applause] And a swing and a miss. And two away now. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his feed by keeping him off base. And the defense breathes a sigh of relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance, get him out of there, and deal with the next guy. Lawrence Butler up next for the A’s. And that’s in for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. Swing and a ball popped up. Jimenez and the inning is over. Nothing doing there for the A’s and this game is still tied at two and two. Now it’s the short stop Boet. Shorts stop Bo Bett. [Applause] Swanging a ball driven out to center. That one’s carrying. Makes the catch up against the wall. Typically not easy to go deep to center field, but he almost did right there. Got a little help from the wind, just not enough. And next is the designated hitter, Alejandro Kirk. He’s already homered here in this one. [Applause] the other way. Pulls it down and they’re two away. That swing right there tells me he’s seeing the ball pretty well. I know it didn’t produce a hit, but he made solid contact and that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate. Here’s the left fielder, Davis Schneider. A pair of strikeouts and he’s flyed to center. And there’s a rocket into the outfield. Takes the turn. He’s digging for second. Not in time. He’s safe. Didn’t take long to get a result for that at bat. Nice job going the opposite way with it. Letting the ball travel and not allowing the barrel to hook around the ball. It’s so frustrating when you see a good pitch and your hands roll over. It was on the outside part of the plate and he approached it perfectly. a lot riding on his next at bat now as they look to take the lead at a critical point in this one. Now a move being made at second base on a pinch run. Joey Lerido. So up next for Toronto, Leo Jimenez [Applause] got it started a little too early. Strike one. Two ball one strike. [Music] [Applause] Next offering is down low. [Applause] No. Two down. Go ahead. Run and score in position. [Applause] Hit in the air center field. Clark under it and that’s the third out. A double in the inning but they leave him stranded. 234 set to hit in the bottom of the ninth. We are tied 22. Jacob Wilson digs in now. known for his late inning heroics [Applause] right through there for a strike. Some hitters are just more confident they can track that first pitch out of the hand of the pitcher. They don’t care if they fall behind 01. [Applause] swings through that one. Toronto’s bullpen with some action. Jeff Hoffman, a right-hander with big strikeout stuff, is getting it fired up. [Applause] Foul ball still 0 and two. [Applause] That one missed. That’s a really good take. [Applause] That one the other way. Jimenez in plenty of time to first and they get the leadoff man in the ninth. Now batting the first baseman Nick Curts. Nick Curts up next for the A’s. [Applause] First offering misses badly for ball one. [Applause] Just missed. [Applause] Good hitters count the two line drive and this might be trouble. Makes it to second. The winning runs in scored position with one gone. All over that one right there. Show the willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep, took the barrel right to it, and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. Now, a huge at bat in this game coming up here in the bottom of the ninth, one out. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Brent Rooker. Outside low, one and0. [Applause] The winning run on second base. Hard ground ball for bas coming home. The throw in across is the winning run and the A’s walk it off and win it 32. You know, he had to feel the pressure. Winning run on second base. Found a way to make solid contact and the winning run comes across to score. Everyone going crazy. Exciting finish to this game today. [Applause] [Applause] 32 the final score. The A’s hang on to win it. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us. What the heat?
