The Toronto Raptors Summer League Team Is DEADLY!

The Toronto Raptors hold on to beat the Orlando Magic 8986. And what was an entertaining summer league game, the Raptors are now 2- 0 in summer league. And guys, they are coming for that summer league title. This defense is absolutely insane. This is probably the best summer league defense we have ever seen. This defense has been relentless. It’s like my goodness. Every single possession this defense is constantly creating havoc. The deflections, the steals, the blocks, the constant ball pressure, just making things so difficult for their opponent. It was another defensive master class by this Raptors summer league team. We’re going to talk about some standouts in this one. Do me a solid, guys. Drop a like on the video and subscribe to the channel for more Raptors content just like this. The defense continues to be the story of this Raptors summer league. They once again made things difficult. It was a miserable time by the Magic. I mean, how many times have the Magic look to be absolutely lost out there with their ball handlers, barely able to create any sort of separation, any sort of rhythm offensively because this Raptors pressure is just constant. The Raptors forced the Magic to 29 turnovers. They capitalized by scoring 44 points off those turnovers. And the Raptors, they had 16 steals in this one. I mean, this is an elite defense that is being anchored by Jamal Shed. Jamal Shed has done a tremendous job. Two steels really setting the tone for this defense. He is the backbone. Heburn too, you got to give him a lot of credit. The amount of ball pressure Heburn had, like he just comes up on you and he really did a nice job in this one. But let’s first start with the Raptors first round pick. Colin Murray Boils made his highly anticipated summer league debut. Overall, Boils finished with eight points, seven rebounds, three steals. The first thing I’m going to say about him, we know the shooting is going to be a work in progress. You’re going to have to have patience with his shooting. Of course, not known for his shooting ability coming to the NBA. He airballed a couple of threes. didn’t look pretty. But where this guy brings it and where he is already locked in and looks to be great is on the defensive end. You saw it in this one. He was just very active. He had a nice sequence where he had a vicious block on one end and then he cleaned up the miss on the other end with a nice putback jam. Colin Murray Boils really stood out with his defense. He looks like he’s ready when it comes to that defense and he can guard at that elite level. And this is a guy who is also great on the glass. He was active on the glass. He had a offensive board late which got him to the free throw line and he’s going to be a guy who’s also going to finish well at the rim. That’s what he does. So the shooting, as I said, you’re going to have to have patience. that is going to be something that he hopefully develops. Obviously, you know, seeing him shoot in this one, you’re thinking to yourself, yeah, he’s got a long way to go. You know, especially seeing the first three being a bad airball. He shot another airball three, but fire them away. Get those shots up. You want to see him shoot a and get those three-point reps in at this level of summer league because this is where you want to work things out and see if you can develop any sort of rhythm and develop that jumper. But overall, three of five from the field. Like I said, he really impressed with his defense and he just is a highlevel player. Jonathan Mo, he had a solid game. He has been really great this summer league. He the way he’s just able to go up strong, finish around the basket. You just hope this translates to the regular season. But him to me, he’s been very impressive. Like you talk about guys who are graduating from summer league, he’s right there. Like you look at the game, he had 12 points, eight rebounds, shot at 55.6% from the field. Again, you just hope that this continued development is real and we do see it where he could potentially be in the Raptors rotation and have big opportunities this season with the main club. You look at AJ Lawson, 21 points. I mean, he’s too good for summer league at this point. He’s been the Raptors leading scorer in two games now. Chi continues to impress me, man. This dude has been active with his hands. Three steals, two blocks, 10 points, four rebounds. Maybe the Raptors didn’t draft the big because Chi’s they’re big all along. Obviously, you’re going to have to be patient with him. He’s still so young, but the way he is continuing to develop and he continues to make the most out of these minutes, out of these reps this season. He’s going to once again figure to spend a lot of time with 905. But the way that Chiui just continues to get after it, I really like this kid’s future. I think it’s bright and I think this is the big who the Raptors really see a part of their future plans. So Chi, another nice outing from him. Jacobe Walter really settled in offensively in this game. Shot is six of 15. You want to see that be better like you want to see him be more consistent. Two of five from three. you want to see him hit more of those catch and shoot threes, but he did have 16. He had a big bucket late. He’s just a sound player. Like, you know, this dude is going to go out there, make winning plays. There was one possession, too, that like he just kept with the defender. He poked the ball out and went across half court and he just stayed with the play. Unfortunately, he picked up the foul there, but again, this is a guy who brings it on both ends. And you just hope from an offensive standpoint, he can just be consistent, especially with that threepoint shot because he’s a guy who’s going to have a big opportunity this season to to try to consistently crack the rotation. And then you just look at some other guys again, like I said, Shed continues to anchor this elite defense. He and Elijah Martin, he did cool off in a big way. I mean, he had the the nice Audi in the first game, but was just one of seven from the field. But overall, I mean, this Raptor summer league team, they are built from just a defensive identity that just makes you smile, man. Like, this defense is so superb. This is what this team is all about. That’s this team’s identity. They’re going to play defense every single possession. And that to me is a big reason why I believe this Raptors team is going to have a great shot when it comes to winning the summer league title. And look, I know you guys are going to say it’s summer league, pipe down, chill out. But it’s nice to see this team win. I don’t care what level it is. It’s nice to see the young guys, the guys coming up in the system play hard, play well, play the right way, and do it starting with their defense. That’s something that is impressive that you got a young group that is committed to to defense. They’re committed to the fundamentals. They’re committed to just making the right play. And right now, it’s no coincidence this summer league team is 2 and 0. So, another nice game. Give me some of your standouts in this one, guys. Drop a like on the video. 1. Admittedly, this game was a turnover mess; we had 22 turnovers, and the Magic had 29. But I won't deny this Summer League Roster has been crazy good on defence. It will be nice to see Chomche, Martin, Castleton, and Hepburn on the bench this season, but it's likely they'll spend most of their time in the G-League.

  2. You can't always say this about Summer League but the team is playing entertaining ball. Hepburn had a sneaky great game while CMB started slow but gradually began to show why the Raptors picked him. Chomche already has the foundation of eventually becoming a defensive anchor with more coaching and playing time. His ceiling will rise substantially if he can develop an above-the-rim game. Not bad for a 57th pick.

  3. If you could say the jersey number of the guys you mentioned, it would help a lot. I'm a raps fan , but i have no idea who these guys are except Shead number 2 lol
