Arte and Perry treat the MLB draft like the NBA/NFL drafts, where they expect the top picks to make an immediate impact, rather than looking at long-term upside
Facts
Absolutely true
They are trying so hard to make the playoffs now they fail to realize u have to have a good farm system and pay for top free agents to win in the playoffs. I’m starting to really juat nor give a shit about this team anymore until arte and perry are gone
There is certainly some truth to that when it comes to starting pitching. Canning and Detmers were kinda the only “self developed” pitchers that kinda stuck in the last 4-5 years. Most pitchers in our rotation were international free agents, guys we signed in free agency or “close to the majors” prospect we traded (like Sandoval or Heaney).
Anderson is as close to the majors as they come lol
What they are saying holds some truth but we’ve also signed high school prep arms every draft including this one. Those aren’t close to the majors arms.
Probably one of the worst drafts in history for this franchise abd they have had some really bad drafts
They are always trying to shortcut their way. Why not try to build something sustainable like how the Astros, rays, or guardians have
