[Acee] Some in the organization believe Campusano should get regular at-bats after the break. While no one sees him as the full solution, they argue he deserves a real shot to prove himself and possibly help the team with consistent playing time.
Bro has had 27 ab and not done a single fucking thing except some meaningless walks
Well start practicing on LF then, or 1B at least…
Dudes swing doesn’t cut it past the minors. Too much movement and he doesn’t see the ball well enough. Don’t think any amount of abs will change his performance in the MLB.
Unless they plan to go after a legit catching option, I don’t see the harm. Our current platoon is batting .187 with a combined WAR of -1.0. Can’t really get much worse.
sheets in left, Campy at DH and sometimes catcher
dude has has plenty of AB’s not just this year but in years past and can never get it going, he shines for like a week every 3 months, but can never dtay consistent. he lost his job multiple times already, in years past to Gary Sanchez, Higashioka, and now maldonado and diaz. at this point move on, he probably needs a scenary change
Listen I have as little faith as anyone else in Campy but I say give him the majority of at bats between now and the trade deadline to really see what’s going on. It’s unlikely that a trade happens too much before the deadline anyways. If he doesn’t do anything with the opportunity then try to trade him or DFA him.
He should DH over Brooks until Preller can get someone else, but he was 1 of the reasons we lost yesterday. Besides striking out twice, the 1 time he hit the ball we had 1st and 3rd and 1 out and he hits into a DP.
In retrospect, they missed the window of putting him in a trade package in years past.
What is he like 0-21. That’s honestly not that much worse the current
If they are going to do this just give him full catcher reps, Having two abyssmal hitting catchers in the batting lineup at the same time is a black hole. Are campys defensive numbers great? No. But Maldy and Diaz arent setting the world on fire with their defense either.
Can we let him wear his El Paso jersey so he feels more comfortable?! El Paso Campy is a legend

Just stick him at the DH from now until the deadline.
That should give him around 50 PAs which should be enough to get him going.
If he still hasn’t produced yet then it’s time to cut weight.
Is there not a league average position player available anywhere in the mlb right now?
I agree that he should have gotten regular at-bats. …Before the all-star break.
Now, the trade deadline looms, and we need to figure out what our catching situation is gonna be like for the rest of the year. We *should* have figured out if he was going to be a legit option while we still had the chance to say “Welp, this isn’t working out, so I guess we need to factor that into our acquisitions.” We should have figured out if he could be a good bat if given consistent playing so that we could potentially dangle him as trade bait.
But unfortunately, we didn’t, and the idea of potentially not trading for a catcher (or hell, two catchers) because we wanted to take a flier on Campusano seems like a bad call.
He has had flashes of brilliance as the hitter and random irregular at bats are not the way to figure out if those were a flash in the pan or not. Let him get up here and see if V-Rod can do anything with him. I liked Brooks but clearly he’s not working.
Bring Chico in the day he starts at catcher. He’ll think he’s in El Paso – guaranteed two bombs ⚾️
having 3 catchers on the roster is a waste, unless we really have no help coming.
Look at the savant numbers and tell me this is our every day catcher. Defensive runs saved is 15 runs below average.
For a bat first catcher his 2024 slash line of .227/.281/.361 and a .642 OPS is pretty bad. His 87.7 mph average exit velocity ranked him 206th in MLB. Barrel rate is 4.6% in 2024 well below the 7.1% MLB average. His hard hit rate of 34.2% is below MLB average.
When your own front office sends you down to the minors multiple times, that says something. You don’t hand starting jobs to players who are simultaneously below average offensively and below average defensively.
Nonsense. 0-27 is enough. Maybe if he had skill defensively, but he’s defensively inferior to Diaz and Maldonado… inferior defensively to every starting and backup catcher in MLB. And unlike Campusano, Diaz and Moldinado are praised for their handling of pitchers (in-game management).
Why did we get rid of Higgy?
Dudes gotta at least get a base hit
Fire those people.
He needs a change of scenery.
he’s not a good enough catcher to replace maldy or diaz, so you’d be relying on him being a good enough hitter to take up a roster spot as a DH (and only as a DH). i don’t really see it.
Campy pros: walks, base running, young, ~~dangley earring~~
Campy cons: strike outs, passed balls, weak arm
Maldy: 0
Campy: 0
It’s a push 🤷♂️
Are his parents in the organization or something?
If you can’t trade him for anything of value, which I think that ship has sailed, than you need to give him the second half as a last chance to see if he’s found something. Especially because our current catchers can’t hit for shit either.
He needs a fair chance. Especially if they are going to keep running brooks out there with a 117 batting average as a DH
He’s had chances every season, lost his job to 4? different catchers, including now Diaz and Maldy. he sucks. No thanks.

Maldy vs Campy
Maldy pros: catching, framing, strong arm
Maldy cons: hitting, slow, aging, ~~no dangley earring~~
Campy pros: walks, base running, young, ~~dangley earring~~

Maldy: 0
