The Oilers Have a Goaltending Solution – and It’s the Bruins
If Boston’s sitting there and they’re going is a 10 team no trade list. If Boston sits there and goes, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. We like Mikey Dpietro.” Actually, don’t say Corposalo. If they Well, if they kept from Boston’s perspective, if they were to keep 50% of Corposalo, yeah, he’s 1.5 million. They could run DPro as their backup and it’s actually $700,000 cheaper on the cap. The Oilers would get Corpus Alo at 1.5 two. No, he’s at three right now. Oh, so they could keep another 50%. Sorry. The Ottawa has is retaining a chunk of Corpus. Oh, okay. That’s why it says something different on elite prospects in Yeah. Um, so Corpus Allo could be brought from three down to one and a half. His numbers last year were not good. Granted, Swayman’s weren’t good in Boston and we know he’s a better goalie than he showed. Um, Corpusalo with Ottawa also not great. It’s been a couple of years since that run with LA and when he was acquired from Columbus and he had a really really strong season and he is traditionally a pretty up and down goalie. He’s 31. So it’s not like you’re bringing in a 36y old. Mhm. Maybe there’s something too. And again, this would probably be more of like a coming out of camp thing because Boston realizes that they actually really really like Mikey Dietro if the Bruins just kind of put their hand up. And it would probably come after they put Corpus Allow through waiverss cuz I’d imagine they’d take a shot on being like, who’s going to take him for free? No one takes him for free. Do they sit there and go, “We’ll keep one and a half. We’ll trade him to you for Pickard. They’re just going to put Pickard in the minor.” And the Oilers would run Corvis Alice Skinner. Yeah, I I I think he’s obviously an upgrade on Pickicket. If you could get that cap closest as close to 2 million as possible, it’s a easy pill to swallow. And I would want it all the way down to one and a half cuz then you can just outright afford it. Okay. Right. Right down to that. Then two mill sorry, as a backup number two, when Skinner goes through his inevitable rough patch in the season, he’s a good player to have to throw in there. A guy with a bit of playoff experience as well. And obviously LA and Columbus, he had a few games there and we’ve seen him be a good goalie. And you look at those two teams he was on, he still had 11 wins on Boston last year and they he had a positive win record in Ottawa. They weren’t very good, but managed to win 21 games of his 55. It’s not terrible on bad teams and his save percentage was not sorry, his goals against only 2.9. I would want to hear from someone who’s like a goalie analyst expert on him cuz like how would his game translate to Edmonton? We saw there’s someone in our chat who’s like I don’t think he’s good when he doesn’t face a lot of shots. So like yeah I don’t know he’s a name like if DP like that you can definitely see the path to Boston goes whoa we like the younger Mikey Dietro Swayman starting 50 games for us we like giving DPro 30 and seeing what we have in him. it saves them $700,000 and Corposal is no trade list. If they put him on waiverss and he clears, he might sit there and be like, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. I can either play in Edmonton or play in the American League. I’m going to Edmonton.” Or Boston could do what New York did with Trouba where they sit there and go, “Hey, you’re going whoever. I don’t even know who the team would be, but like San Jose’s claiming you. Do you want to play in Edmonton or do you want to play in San Jose?” And he would go, “Oh, Edmonton.” and they trade him to. I think one thing though, being a Finnish guy, the weather’s probably not something he’s too bothered about. Boston is not exactly a tropical city. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like I think at this point of his career, he’s played 15 playoff games, been solid in both. I would say he’s probably just like, I want to play competitive hockey in April, May, and June. And he would in Edmonton. Yeah, he’d be he’d be decent. I I don’t hate the option as much as I did when I initially said don’t say Yonas Corposalo. I would do Corpusal before I do Jarry. However it might not be the Goaltender many fans are hoping for.

Ew. This is not a significant upgrade. This would be a shoot and pray type of move
Let’s move assets for a equal or lesser goalie then Pickard
please stop pondering significant downgrades. We already know there are about 5 goalies that may be available and that would actually help. Sorokin, Swayman, Binnington, Levi, and Carter Hart. If we don't get one of them we aren't getting a goalie
Right country, wrong goalie. Oilers should go and get 22 year old, Leevi Merilainen from Ottawa. 8-3-1, 1.99, .925 and 3 shutouts in 2024-25.
We already have a up and down goalie. Picard is a steady backup, what we need is a steady number one.
I'd sooner take a hit elsewhere, to get a proper goalie. Edmonton can afford to get slightly weaker in either F or D, but Korpisalo to replace Pickard or Skinner, is a lateral move, imo.
His numbers in Ottawa and Boston, are the numbers he would produce in Edmonton. He had good numbers in prior years, due to defensive systems he played behind. Edmonton isn't exactly a shutdown type of team.
He'd face rubber, and my guess being, he would stop around 89% of the shots he faced. Precisely what Pickard does, and slightly better than what Skinner does.
This team needs a better-than-average goalie, who can make a save behind defensive gaffs, and bail them out on occasion. That is a missing key to them winning a cup.
Had they had that against Florida this past season, it would have been a completely different result. Florida buried a better part of half of Edmonton's major defensive gaffs. They just couldn't get a save, it deflated the bench constantly, and well, ya……….
Calvin Pickard is the better goaltender for the Oilers! If we get rid of a goaltender, we need to get rid of Stuart Skinner! He cost us the cup this year and last year! Ive seen Pickard goaltend, before going to Edmonton. Im a former Phoenix/Arizona Coytes fan.
I bet we looked all 31 teams goalie lol 🤦🏼♂️ why not stick with our own one ehh
We're officially dumpster diving for goaltending. But I do appreciate the mental gymnastics
