‘Father time wins’: Former Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler says he’s retired

It was pretty much confirmed when he didn’t play last season but still sucks that its confirmed.
He may have had his highs and lows with this team but he was still a fantastic player for us.
I look forward to the day he, Ladd and Little get added to the Jets HoF together.
Damn, could have lined up on our geezer line with Toews and Nyqvist 🥲
Not surprising but a bit sad that it ended like that
It was a tumultuous ending for him here but there’s no denying he was an incredibly important player on and off the ice. He worked his ass off when it came to hockey, and he’d have to lose a limb to stay out of a game. As prickly as he could be with the media he definitely gave a shit about the community and valued playing in the city. He also was seemingly quite difficult to get along with, particularly if certain rumours have validity. He had a great career and is worthy of tons of respect, but his exit from Winnipeg was necessary. Hope he enjoys retirement
Cares about the community, cared about the team and cared about his teammates. Did not always come out in the best ways but he cared. Always tried his best and gave it his all, will always respect him for that.
Wish it had ended better with us and hope he can be recognized at some point in the future along with some of our other former players.
He represented the Jets and the Peg and lived there year round. You gotta respect that.
May he find something useful to do with his time. 38….. and if he spends 1.3 million a year he’ll run out of NHL money on his 100th birthday. Be a nice problem to have. Finding something to do with your time, money not being a concern at all. o7 He had a great NHL career as a player. I hope he finds fulfillment now that his playing days are behind him.
Regardless of how it all went down
He to me was always a Jet, and hope he gets to retire his jersey there for a day
