Hey at least it’s not the “to be re evaluated in 2 weeks” thing
Queen missing a couple of weeks isnt really relevant to anything at all so whatever
The positive news is this is an injury he can continue to remain in shape with. It sucks of course either way but he won’t have to ramp up significantly with a wrist injury. He can continue to keep in shape and condition. Not a silver lining but a little perspective. Sucks of course regardless.
I hate downplaying an injury with a 12+ week recovery time (with 13 weeks until the start of the season), but with so much negativity specifically about this somehow making the Pelicans more likely to be worse this year and impacting the trade, it feels necessary.
Once again, Willie Green was never giving Queen or Fears significant playing time this year barring injuries. You can go back and look at literally anyone’s comments previously making this same suggestion, in large part as criticism of Green. I’d certainly rather he’d have the next 12 weeks to work on his strength and conditioning rather than recovering from surgery, but he’d be riding the bench anyway until the eventual Zion injury.
The starting lineup is almost certainly going to be Poole, Herb, Trey, Zion, Looney, with key bench players of Missi, Bey, and Jose and then determining between Hawkins, Peavy, or a likely free agent that hasn’t been signed yet for the remaining minutes.
Any playing time from Fears or Queen as rookies with just one year of college experience barring major injuries would only be due to them being significantly ahead of schedule in their development.
I’m still not going to doom and gloom this season until I see a tweet about Herb, Trey, or Zion missing significant time.
It’s not that big of a deal
The rookie we gave away a fucking unprotected first for. Dumars is going to make us wish we never fired Griffin. This front office is Dell Demps level bad.
