Royals vs. Marlins Game Highlights (7/18/25) | MLB Highlights

We have not seen the Sandy that we know he’s capable of pitching. And I know it’s in there and he knows it’s in there. I mean, why talk about the numbers? Why talk about the 72T erra, which is one of the highest in all of baseball. I expect Sandy to go out there and pitch a very good game. And the main reason why I’m saying that is because he’s been able to get that mental break. Here we go again. It’s Sandy Alcantra. Well, we talked about it before, the one career start he has against this Royals team. Complete game shutout. Jonathan India steps into the righty batters box to lead off the game. Grounded to the left side. Graham Paulie’s got it and he fires it on over to first and there’s one away. A two-time all-star Bobby Whit Jr. digs into the righty batters box and as Whit rips this on a line to left. Hey, speaking of all, Kyle Sters puts the squeeze on out number two. It’s the 38th walk of the season issued by Alcantra and the Royals find themselves with a band at first with two out now for Mike El Garcia, another allstar. And Garcia lines it to left and that’ll drop in front of Sters and the Royals have two on with two out. And now Salvador Perez steps to the plate and he chops one softly out towards short. Should be an easy play for Lopez. It is and the inning is over and Alcantra strands a pair him in the first. And let’s see what that offense does with Seth Lugo who has pitched over 100 innings already. His RA is 2.67 67 for the year, but he has given up two earned runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts. Yep. And those numbers show it. Boom. Back to Lugo who makes a gold glove play right out of the gate. Wow. My goodness. This was all self-p protection. Good. Great reaction and an awesome play by the glove. Sanchez waits on the two and he flies one in the air to center field and deep. Isel going back. He’ll give it a look and it’s gone. One- nothing Miami. And for Sanchez, his eighth home run of the season. And Jesus Sanchez number eight on the year. Got himself a little fourame hitting streak. Now it’s the 16th home run that Lugo’s allowed this season. His second off of that sinker. Jesus made it one- nothing Marlins. And now it’s Augustine Ramirez, a guy that can double that real quick. And he yanks that one through the left side. And Ramirez is aboard with a two-out single. Here’s the Marlins All-Star Kyle Sters. He drives one in the air to right center field. Indeed. Kag Leó’s going back looking up guard. He’s still smiling. The Allar makes it three nothing. I tell you, just incredible. He hit the three to end the first half in Baltimore. Starts off the second half with number 20 on the year. So he’s six for his last six at the plate with four bombs. Here in the third inning, it’s Jonathan India. It’s breaking ball that’s cut out in this strike three. Yeah. And a much better slider. We’ve seen the two sliders that were hit for base hits. That one a lot better. Here’s Vinnie. One is a little roller over to the backhand of the second baseman Edwards. He fires across his body in time to get past MTino to end a one, two, three inning. Xavier Edwards leads off the Marlins third inning. Slapped out to left center field pretty deep. Raven Isbel on the move and that one one hops off the wall in left center. X zooming around second, but he pumps the brakes there and retreats with a leadoff double. Nice knock for Xavier Edwards. And Edwards is at third base with one down. That’ll bring up the shorts stop. Right-handed hitting Otto Lopez. Oh, baby. In the air to left center field and deep and that’s off the wall in play for Otto Lopez who’s got an RBI double. There’s your run skipper. Missed a homer by feet, but he’s got an RBI double and they are hammering Seth Lugo. Four nothing fish. Bottom three. Here is Ramirez, their DH right-handed hitter. Fly ball deep left center. On the run is Rave. And Rave collides with Isbel and makes the catch on the warning track just to the left of straightaway center. And Isbel was down on his belly, flat on the ground for a little bit. Now he’s starting to get up. He’s on his knees and Ra is slow to get up too. Rae did make the catch for the second out of the inning. Let’s hope the left and center fielder are okay. They’re talking with each other right now on the warning track. No trainer visit. Well, Ra looks like he’s just fine. He made the catch, popped up, threw back in, and then he went to the ground. Thankfully, they’re both up and okay. Scary as though it looked on the warning track in left center. Kyle Sters, left fielder, left-handed hitter who has already hit a two-run homer tonight. Stans in one pitch. That one hit high in the air out to shallow center field. Long run for Isbel and Whit that drops into the triangle and that’ll plate a run. Kyle Sters. It may not be a long ball, but he finds the perfect spot in left center field. He loops an RBI single and the fish keep jumping on Lugo. 5 nothing on the RBI knock in the bottom of the third. the middle of the order and Mikel Garcia swing and a liner the other way. A base hit well struck by Garcia. Sal Perez and that’s poked to right field. Garcia saw it all the way and he’ll go first to third. But now this is the time where the Royals need to capitalize on what’s been Alcantra’s biggest area of struggle this season and that is pitching with runners on base. There’s a swing and a miss. Good sinker. It’s a big first out for Alcantra here in the fourth. Now Loftton, there’s a start. They’ll get the runner in from third and Loftton is going to be safe as the throw took Hicks off the bag. All those balls he’s lined into. There’s now one of them that’s evened out right there. And that feels like it’s just kind of the way things have gone for Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. So John Rave now first and second, one out. And now Rave deep into right center field and gone for a three-run home run. and his first big league home run. Royals looking for a bus driver first game out of the All-Star break and it’s John Ray. Been calling for that home run for a month. Just sums up what has happened to Sandy all year. And there’s two on, nobody out for Nick Loftton. He grounds it sharply to short. Should be two. Flipped to second, turned to first. Two double play. Second time in three innings. Alcantra’s gotten himself a much needed double play and Perez is at third for Rave. Grounded softly to second. Edwards has got it. The inning is over. Alcantra in line for a victory. Lugo’s had a mixed bag here. Marlo jumped all over him for three in the first. Light him up again in the third and then he’s done pretty well here in the fourth, fifth, and now the sixth. There’s a slow curve. Swung on and missed by Meyers. He went down to a knee. Talk about being fooled by a pitch. That’s a strikeout. Now it’s Graham Paulie, left-handed hitting third baseman, swinging, lining it to center. Back goes Isbel shy of the track. Pulls it down for the out. And a nice quiet quick one, two, three, sixth inning for Lugo. Here comes the little powerful Ronnie Enriquez. You talk about a treat watching this young man this season. What an unbelievable and you know what I would say allstar type campaign he’s put together. O2 got him with a sweeper and a beauty. There’s one away. Salvi draws a two out walk. He’s on base for a third time tonight. Jack Kaggleó comes to the plate and Tyler Tolbert pops out of the first base dugout to pinch run. Swinging a ground ball out towards second. Lopez has got it. He tosses it to first. And just like that, the inning is over. So Tolbert comes in to pinch run, takes off on the first pitch, but Kagleó goes after the first pitch and that ends the inning. Here we go. Top of the ninth inning. Here’s John Rave. He hit a three-run homer back in the fourth inning. Ra socks it high in the air. Deep left center field. Sters is at the track. Sters looks up. It’s out of here. A game tying opposite field home run for John Ray. What’s better than hitting your first career home run? Hitting two. His second home run of the game. Ties the game at five in the top of the ninth inning. How about John Ray? We go to the bottom of the ninth. Here comes Graham Paulie and he lines one softly out towards right center field. That’s going to get down for a base hit. It’s a one out single for Graham Paulie who’s got two hits here tonight. And the Marlins have a one out base runner. And the pitch is a called strike and it goes to the back stop. Had it stolen either way. Now the winning run at second in Mey who’s fresh into the ball game for Salvador Perez. Just like that runner in scoring position. Basketball over the outer half called strike three. Forez is down looking. And Ersk’s an out away from sending us to extras. Fast ball hit on the ground toward a shortstop with scoops it up, shuffles, throws in time to get him. Inning over. Lucas Ersk strands a pair and keeps the game tied at five. He sends us to extras. So the Royals have pretty good speed at second and they have their number one hitter at the plate. And he hits a ground ball to the right side and race to the base and didn’t get there in time. Oh man, by the naked eye, I thought he Yeah, that’s right. They’re not going to challenge it. Beautiful. Keep the streak alive and move the runner to third base. That is a beautiful at bat. And there goes Junior. And the pitch down to second base is going to be late. And that is the 120th stolen base given up by the Marlins this year. That is 17 more than any team. There are two men gone. And the pinch hitter will be the guy who just rejoined the Royals today, Adam Frasier. Frasier lines it to right field. Welcome back, Adam Frasier. His first swing since the trade and he drives in two and the Royals lead 75 in the 10th inning. Well, welcome back, Adam Frasier. Exactly what the Royals have needed all season long is the big hit in the big spot. And he does it again in his first plate appearance back with the Royals in 2025. Welcome back indeed. So the placed runner Hill goes to third on a fly out to right. And now he sees Augustine Ramirez. Ramirez lines one through the left side. That’s a base hit. Rollins are back within a run here in the 10th. Will Sters come to the plate? I tell you what, Ramirez does some serious damage with some off off speed pitches. That was a slider, a get me over slider that he drilled. And now it’s Allstar versus Allstar. Kyle Sters against Carlos Estz. High drive in the enter right field and deep. Frers going back at the wall. Unconcious. Sters with the winner coming out of the break and it’s the Marlins who land the final blow in this 15 round fight here tonight. How about a three home run home run day to end the first half and a two-run home a home run day to start the second half and a walk-off to cap it off. First Marlin ever with five home runs in a twoame span. Kyle Sters. Just incredible. Just incredible.

  1. Let’s give Sandy this season to get right. He’s coming off serious surgery and it takes a year plus. Like an Achilles injury, it can take a lot of time. Mentally as well. Love you Sandy

  2. An absolute no fucking doubter. Kyle thank you for making the Marlins relevant to keep up with this year. Its been a while since I could answer the question of who my favorite player is on the Marlins currently. Id always thinks about former players. Kyle is that guy. And he seems like such a nice dude with the facial expressions he makes. Hes definitely someone who probably will never get an ejection unless you realllllllly fucked up. Marlins got some tough teams coming up. This is where we see if they can actually have a chance to play in October. They have been playing good baseball as of late but is this just a streak or is this for real?
