San Diego Padres vs Washington Nationals – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | July 18, 2025 MLB Season

Baseball families will call it the fastest four days in their calendar year. The All-Star break is over. It’s back to action here at Nationals Park. A good San Diego team is in town. They’re trying to catch the Dodgers. They’re trying to stay ahead of the Giants in the race. The Nats facing another contender. Oh, with an 06. Yeah. Making a 14th start on the year. Three at seven on the season. We see the 67 and third innings. a 116 whip. So you think about it, he is barely giving up hits. He’s barely giving up any walks. It’s just the damage to be done. He’s got to get ahead. Stay ahead. Right on time. We are at 6:45. Nats are 10 under at home and on the road. And Tatis Jr. with a towering fly ball up to Jacob Young. Why not start with a can of corn? 398 right side. Garcia sliding, pumps up and throws and gets it over to like Manny Machado. Yep. That ball is scorched. Abrams to his right. He’s going to rob his old organization right there. Down and away for the strikeout. CJ now 29 years of age, 176 career start. and James Wood. Two-2 upstairs and he strikes out the side. Runner at first on the move. Pitch outside. The throw goes through and it’s late. And Xander Bogart, he’s one of their runners. He’s now 16 of the air to left and really well hit. James Wood kind of moving back with it. He’ll make the catch and turn around immediately and get it into Abrams. Padres’s lead on the sack fly. That’s hard hit right there. Garcia setting an inside target to hits a sack fly with a steal. Strike out number four. Ahead in the count here, Dan Lyle will pop one to center for Merrill. Not quite halfway. Josh Bell back to second. And this inning will be up to right. Contact needed. 22 the count. Target out there and not able to reach it out there. Right. Having a dad, a big leager puts all this kind of uh into a place where you’re not going nuts about everything. There’s Nathaniel Low. He’s under the pop-up big league dad’s name. More than one other than the other, right? Ethan over Eli. 790 walks to 434 strikeouts in an entire career. There’s a bullet from Riley Adams. Did he make up the room? Looked like the runner had a great jump. Chopper right side. Croninworth on the way. You know, you got to hurry when Jacob Young is running and the Nats go a game here during the week. That one back up arise. Two outs. Two for 19. He had the homer, but 12 punch outs. Oh my. Oh no. No. Laz. What a You know, back in the day, those times, those players you hear about it, they watch the game. They weren’t, you know, watching iPads, Sky Reports, all that stuff. there on the side watching record on the road this year by the way. 21 and 26. They are so hard to beat at home. Swing and a miss on that ball goes spinning over to the left side for pretty. He’s still spinning in his hand. I think short lead by Garcia. Now he’s running. Strike three call and that is not close at second on the foul tip. That’s it for the Nats. Strike them out. Throw them out. Double. Very easy with those strikes. Croninworth went out to center for Jacob Young. Nothing like an easy out for Tatis. He’s 0 for two. And he gets him to pop up the very first pitch. Riley Adams fair ball when he caught it. That’s fair in front of the plate. Pouncing Diaz. Little sidearm toss. And the fact that Thompson is still throwing in earnest out there indicates that Sroa swing and a miss. That’s number 10. Little serve swing over the other way. Randy House is going to get there with that ball twisting back. Hard hit. Garcia with a good spear to his left. Everybody just hopping these throws. Two-2 now. Sheets a very short lead. Swing and a miss. That’s what lefties are supposed to do against left-handed batter. And a ball hit out to right center, but it’s hanging and Tatis will easily get to it for the first out. 75 ft of room for a ground ball the left side of the infield if James would try to protect out there. Wandy Peralta 20 of 28. They’ve done such a good job this year of inheriting runners and stranding them. Been a huge part of this for the Padres’s. Oh, Young had a big time jump with two outs. Garcia will bounce out to Cornerworth and that’s going to lead off hit and they’ve stranded their third runner in this one- nothing game out there in the outfield. This ball right field. We had a couple fall in no man’s land. We got to play at second base, but the throw is up and away. Abrams tried to grab it in one motion to bring it down. And credit to Xander Bogart. There’s any ball on the ground. It’s an easy score for him. Look at that lead right away. Swing and a miss. Squares early and a bunt. It’ll score run. One on assisted on the tag and the squeeze works. It’s two nothing. Oh, good job of jamage right on the hands. Tatis barely got out of the box. Yeah, Naturally don’t have any other lefties on the bench. Drew Milis, the switch in catcher. And my goodness, did that inning disappear in a hurry. Two on, nobody out. Couple of pitches later, high in the air, left center, Jacob Young drawing a beat on it. Runner back to tag. He will freeze the runner with an accurate quick release. One out right here. 3-2 again. Swing and a miss. Cole Henry spending a good part of that matchup by and that rookie year was 12 years ago. Great breaking ball away. Got the lunge on the swing and the house throw over to low. Keeping it a two nothing game. Abs right center. C you former Padre Lighter. This game is tied. Good has a pretty good lead out there and Garcia will pop it up to left on the first pitch. A ways to go for Johnson. Two down. On the move is the runner. Popping up. High throw. Stay on the bag, James. And he’s in there in for Wood. And if anybody would have covered second, they could have thrown Josh out. And now the inning is over. [Applause] Runner coming home and Daniel Low waiting for the ball and down to second on a 34. Five sacrifice bunts. He’ll do it here. Runner moving at first. No throw. And Tatis with number 22. [Applause] And Machado is going to hit one into the bullpen. The 13th time in Manny Machado’s career he has hit a grand slam. 18th home run this season. the zone good or it is so off the plate hold and there’s a ball driven to right will have to play it on the hop off the wall and Johnson who came in to play left field. Good job of getting in on the hands there and a high pop up near the left field line. James Wood covering the ground. Fair ball when he makes up the middle. ball goes scooting by the bag and then a smooth 63 by Bogarts. That’s going to do it. Looks like the Nats were in position

  1. It feels kinda weird hearing how much they refer to Abrams (and Wood and Gore) as former Padres instead of just being Nationals.
